This is part of a reply from the Southern Region Manager after I put forward an Official Complaint after my booking was cancelled hours before departing for a break away with friends. I had booked way in advance, before other on site, yet I was cancelled!

Please accept my apologies for any miscommunication of this fact at the time and for the lack of compassion demonstrated however this cancellation was beyond our direct control and as previously advised on our Club Together Forum, cancellations are made on a ‘last booked, first cancelled’ basis. Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible.

so, due to the fact I was booked for 4 nights and travel Solo I was denied a holiday.  This is descrimination!

While I would hate for my bookings to be cancelled, I can't see the bit in his letter where you travelling solo had any bearing. Full site occupancy would refer to the number of units on a site not the number of people? It is the pitch that is taken up and it doesn't matter how amny or how few poeple there are on that pitch. Or have I missed something?

I was booked for 4 nights and that booking was made well in advance, yet my booking was cancelled but people that booked the week previous to the 31st March were allowed on!

One person £19 a family of 2 afults and 2 children?? Which one makes the books look good??

It just gets worse doesn't it! You couldn't make up how certain aspects of this Club are run, when is the penny going to drop and they haul themselves into the 21st Century! As I have said on another forum, this is like reading/watching/ belonging to to
touring section of the House of Lords! Dinosaurs, and dangerous!

We have had a couple of breaks cancelled in the past, due to water logged pitches, or so we were told.  The first time we were booked in as a family of 4, so it isn't just solo caravanners who are cancelled.

Hope they gave you 72 hours notice or they would be in breach of their cancellation rules and have to receive an email threatening suspension.

Vivien, can you go further up the food chain with your complaint?, they must have a recognised 'grievance procedure' most state. . . .'if you are not satisfied your complaint will be passed to' could you now continue?

Write your comments here... I was dealt lies, they have apologised for the way its been handled, but as per my first post on this thread, cancelled my pitch so others that basically with larger families can make more money for the site.

So, you are quite happy to book and arrange a break away, booking your pitch etc then as you leave to go to the site the phone rings!  You can not have a holiday because the CC says so! You wont make enough money for them so they cancel your itch, holiday the works!

This is not fantasy! This is FACT!

Vivien, sounds as though you have been "bumped" off rather like a flight passenger. Sometimes airlines might ask for volunteers and hopefully compensate them. Because we don't have a deposit system this practice could be done with impunity by the CC but it shows total disregard for the customers and members. You have been given a very implausible explantion by the CC and it is shameful. I'd like to think they would compensate you with site vouchers since there is no real reason for their action except for monetary gain for themselves on the site takings. In fact they have obtusely admitted tthis in their statement. I hope you take the matter further, it could be a trading standards issue.

I agree wholeheartedly with brue. We've been told it's last to book is first to be cancelled and now find other factors have an impact.

    Shoddy

Thank you Brue, I will Contact trafing standards!

We pay a membership so we have guaranteed Club site use, yet this is now NOT happening! If this is a club then members have equal rights!  Emm? I wonder? I will have to see about Companies house and the Policys, Terms and Conditions, see if they have these
circumstances listed or whether the CC is in breach???

In which case they shouldn't charge members £48 to shaft them at short notice.

Disgusting treatment but not a surprise any more when you read various comments on this forum.

When you consider everyone thats a member pays £48+ we should in theory own our own pitch via time share!

To actually pick and choose who they want on site though! Next they will set up interveiws to vet you before they allow you to join if your not rich or a family!

    Viv,

If I have read the booking terms and conditions correctly once you have booked you have a contract with CC Ltd.

    .

I am not a lawyer, but does there not have to be a 'consideration' [usually money] involved for it to be a valid contract?

The no deposit system does mean that this works both ways; hence if you cancel you can not be legally liable for any loss......although the Club can still apply sanctions under its membership conditions.

C&CC probably avoids this situation because you have to pay a deposit.  However (as they openly acknowledge) the booking system DOES manage bookings to try to achieve best occupation/revenue.  The result is that quite often it will not offer you certain
types of pitches for certain durations. AFAIK, it does not discriminate according to the number of people, but with dynamic pricing anything is technically possible.

    Viv,

If I have read the booking terms and conditions correctly once you have booked you have a contract with CC Ltd.

The terms do allow for them to cancel the booking but only where the cause is beyond their reasonable control.

It would appear that the reason you were given was well within their control and they therefore had no grounds for cancellation.

It would therefore seem that they are in breach of contract and not only do you have good grounds for complaint you also have good grounds for claiming and receiving compensation.

My email address is on my profile.

    PS

Within the terms there is no mention of  "Further consideration is also given to duration of stay and the knock-on effect of surrounding bookings whilst seeking the least disruptive approach toward maintaining full site occupancy, for the benefit of the wider membership, whilst affecting as few individual members as possible."  That is just rubbish.

Write your comments here... Thank you for that! I am not going to let what happen drop until 1. Things change about Solo people. 2. Bookings are honoured regardless of circumstance (within reason obviously. Example Tewkesbury site known to be under 3' of water during winter months or extreme weather)
