My thanks to FD for posting on Vivien s behalf, I would like to do it myself but as I am currently in Spain it's not possible as the Internet connection is not great and I don't have the information that Vivien has.I will say that she has been treated abominably
over this issue.0 -
If you are suspended I cannot see how you could be stopped from coming back as a non member under an assumed name.
As Husky says, it's against T&Cs. Are you not aware of those who keep trying it only to get kicked out again? If not, you've missed such a lot of good banter.

An interesting postscript to this thread it the news that Vivien is now in receipt of a three month suspension from CT, which subsequently damages her ability to contact her Solos or post the Diary updates. Since we are both members of the Facebook CT group,
I have agreed to post any updates she requires to the Solos thread.Alison
And the grounds are...?
There have been some appalling posts on CT from time to time but no one ever seems to be suspended.
Whoever took this decision is most obviously not well versed in how to treat "customers" and maximise profits. Neither do they appear to have any knowledge of social media and how it works - take a look at how Balgonie Castle in Fife has nearly destroyed
itself as a business in the past few weeks due to idiocy on social media. Time for the so-called Club to send its decisionmakers on a customer relations course, I think!0 -
A final word from me, many thanks to Alison for stepping up to the mark. The solos group are an important part of CT, it took a lot of work on here to get it going and to suspend Vivien is dificult to comprehend. Keep your pecker up Viv and to all the solos
out there keep posting and enjoy your meets.I expect this thread will be moderated soon.
I'll look out for the "new" website, hope things improve, bye for now everyone.

Have just picked up this discussion, and as a single person - not divorced or widowed - I am apalled to think I might have a booking cancelled at the last minute because I travel on my own. Keep fighting Vivian .For me, forwarned is forarmed. Just booked
at the Chapel Lane site in 10 days time.0 -
And Brue takes her leave with 5 purples.

Yes and fully deserved TW, gained by honest posting without "star chasing". She will be missed, as will Viv.....

notwithstanding any of the specifics of the suspension which i nor anyone else has all the facts, lets put into perspective that these cancellations will only occur in exceptional circumstances...
....again, making no comment on the cancellation 'process' per se, the overwhelmingly vast majority of our bookings are as safe (or not) as they were prior to this thread.
i have had a (new year) break cancelled due to 'electrical problems' on site but had no idea how i was 'ranked' with regard to who got 'dumped'....
however, i dont think we all need to constantly check our bookings, especially way ahead of the arrival date...
its likely to be a serious incident much closer to that date that will have an impact on arrivals...at that point the club will apply its 'process', if required.

''lets put into perspective that these cancellations will only occur in exceptional circumstances''
Really? Then why were we told when we ran an RV that we had to phone the day before for every booking, just to check they would accept us? We were not over any of the sites maximum lengths so its not because it was an outsize outfit. Also told once when
we arrived at 12 that if we had arrived at 4 the same day we would have been turned away. Apparantly wardens can do that, cancel a valid booking for anyone they like!!0 -

perhaps they do have a further checking process with RVs?
perhaps they want to double check the vehicle size and discuss any access issues....?
weve never had to ring ahead of every booking so i guess its RV related.....do you have to do this now you dont have the RV?

It would appear that despite the booking terms CC Ltd is prepared to cancel a booking for their convenience and on the filmiest of excuses. I have no wish to drive many miles only to be told our booking has been cancelled. In future therefore, even with
a confirmed booking, I shall call to check that it is still okay the day before my departure.DD agreed, probably a sensible thing....
my earlier point was that doing the same weeks beforehand wouldnt acheive a lot.....

Did they say why they had to cancel your booking?
Write your comments here... I was dealt lies, they have apologised for the way its been handled, but as per my first post on this thread, cancelled my pitch so others that basically with larger families can make more money for the site.

Profit before members ! this is NOT acceptable..................
Write your comments here...And when I rang HQ booking service and spoke to someone about it, they said they take a dim view of this, non profit organisation, and it is not CC policy to cancel bookings to accommodate bigger or longer bookings. As Jayess says,

No we dont. The caravan is a whole 23cm shorter than the RV, but of course once it is attached to a big tow car it is way bigger so any access issues there might have been are far more likely to occur now than they did then, Plus the RV had wheels closer
to the middle, so could overhang at the back of a pitch easily without taking the wheels off the hardstand where the caravan has legs at the back so cant do that. It was just another CC random policy.0 -
it may not be random, it may apply to other RV owners.
are there any out there who can describe the booking process and any extra checks they are subject to due to RV ownership?

The problem is while a site may have a size limit e.g.9 meters it is not every pitch that can accommodate this and the size of the outfit then becomes important as to where it will fit. It is not only RVs this applies to it can also apply to large twin
axle caravans and large European vans. IF you have completed yor profile information fully giving the size of your van and ETA then there should not be a problem.peedee

...provided that somebody reads it......
its like these automated help lines...
"..please enter your account number to help us get you to the right person to help you....."
"hello, thanks for calling the helpline, whats your account number.....?"
DOH!

Why hasn't a bookings champion appeared on here and advised us what the score/circumstrances are when a site decides to cancel someone's booking. Rowena put a list of internal club champions in the introduction sections and most, not all, are never heard
of again. Most of the hassles that arise on CT could be resolved by the timely intervention of our CC champions0 -

Everything was completed on the form. On the registration section I also wrote RV then the reg. Most of the sites had plenty of pitches that would easily accomodate and most didnt cone off a pitch for us. Some did.
However lets not get sidetracked onto the RV issue - its the fact that the CC dont see fit to honour all the bookings that are correctly made that is the problem here.
