Yes! I am afraid, you may have entered into a contract, but if the money is more appealing from someone else, your booking is null and void!

whether couples or singles, the fact is they will take the most money and not the first in and first out route!

Please let others be aware that a booking is NOT gospel!

I am awaiting a phone call from Mr Horton, CCHQ. I am far from happy with his last reply, we will see what the outcome is when it happens.

Truly shocking treatment which gets worse with every email they send.

Pesonally I wouldn't speak to Mr Horton on the phone as I would want all correspondence by email so there is written evidence should you wish to escalate your complaint.

Under their own terms they can only cancel a booking if there is a problem to be solved that is beyond their reasonable control.  This does not appear to have been the case so they are in breach of the contractual arrangement.

Not just future cancellations but future bookings by phone, will I ever know that a "Sorry we have no room" be because there is no room, or because my length of stay did not suit.Undecided

Reading your posts Vivienne has made me hopping mad.

You have been treated shockingly by the C Club - in the first instance by having your booking cancelled, contrary to the clubs terms and conditions; and secondly, by them not 'owning up' to their error and compensating you accordingly.  A proper acknowledgement
of their unacceptable action is the least you should expect; a commitment to remedial staff training is also in order; and finally, how about a week's free site fees for hurt to your feelings and financial recompense for your additional expenditure?

    All the best

    Katie

Vivien, you were badly treated and deserved better.

Brittany Ferries hands out £50 vouchers when ferry crews go on strike and passengers are left high and dry. My daughter got £200 and the free run of an airport first class lounge and bar when an air line bumped her off a flight. Let's see how this Club
    makes its peace with you.

Good wishes to you and the solos.

Vivien, this has made my blood boil Yell

So, another member booked after you did but wanted to stay for 7 nights.  You had 'only' booked for 4 nights .... so they cancelled your booking!!

Un bloody believable Yell  What an absolute disgrace!

Next time , if you decide to use the CC again book 14 nights. Arrive , check in , pitch the van then tell them you have changed your mind and only staying for four nights and want a refund for the other ten.

    See how they like it.

It seems to me that if we've always been told that it's last to book first to be cancelled then that is exactly what it should be.

As soon as you have a web presence and a forum you have to be transparent in your dealings and above all fair.

Have a look at Trading Standards on the Citizens Advice web site. The CC appear to have offered you something that they were not prepared to honour and for reasons not included in their terms and conditions.

Does that mean that if I want to send 14 nights at a site, but the weekend has been booked up they can cancel the two night booking so that I can have my 14 nights?

The biggest shock here(with respect to Vivien) is the breach of trust. As has been said by many when anyone sets off they need to believe & have faith that the actual space they have booked will be supplied & is going to be there for them. The loss of trust
    could prove to be costly.

Above inflation price rises, involvment in dubious television programs and now this,it seems the club really is losing touch with its members.

OK fans, after a 50 minute phone call, both myself and Mr Horton have discussed in depth the nature of the cancellation.

We agree to disagree on some of the problems, but, I still feel it best to advise you all, NO booking is 100% safe. Cancellations made by the CC should be for genuine unforeseen circumstance and discrimination wil notl be present.

There still seems to me to have booking flaws as to whom gets cancelled and who doesn't, Mr Horton and myself will never agree on that argument.

To end, all I can suggest is if a holiday is important, check constantly with the site to make sure there is no reason for your booking to be cancelled. If it is,then contact the CCHQ and don't give up easily!

Vivien - what you have described and experienced is more in keeping with a third-rate, back-street operation than what one would expect from a supposedly prestigious organisation.  Quite frankly, I am appalled.

I am booked into Broadway for overnight stops on the way down to Devon and back, later in the year and I am now going to pester the wardens with phone calls seeking confirmation that my booking is still valid - right up to my arrival time.  I wonder if we
all did that, someone would get the message?

I have just been reading these posts and as a fairly recent solo traveller myself I am appalled.  I like to undertake trips of around 4 nights and like to think that when wanting to travel on my own I can have faith in an organisation like CC that my bookings
will be safe and secure unless there is a genuine reason for cancellation, which isn't the case here.  Quite clearly there has been a breach of contract and the wardens at Black Knowl have some explaining to do, before they do it to someone else.  So far there
has not been a satisfactory response to Vivien's complaint and it almost seems like they are trying to cover up for the wardens' decision.  I will certainly be not making any bookings at this location.

To sum up the decision making process. Cancellations are initially identified from the members who booked last but who have not yet arrived on site. If a decision has to be made from a group of members who, say, booked at roughly the same time, commercial
prerogative enters the decision making process which means members on shorter stays are more likely to be cancelled compared to those on an longer stay and where the value of their total booking is greatest are more likely not to be cancelled?

I think you are being generous to the club David. As lynnruby says Vivien did not book 'at roughly the same time' but considerably earlier.

Unfortunately David the warden phoned Viv up and cancelled her booking saying there was pitch flooding, the CC refuted this and have now come up with another reason. If only someone was a bit more honest it could have been sorted without all these adverse comments. In the T &Cs a flood or other unexpected events can be used as a reason to cancel bookings, there is nothing in the T&Cs to say a cancellation can be used to increase site profits or viability.

Good evening all!  I am now not crawling the walls chomping at the bit!

I spoke for 50 minutes about what, why and how things happened.  We have agreed to disagree on several counts, plus agreed the whole fiasco could have been dealt with better, from wardens phone call right through!

anyway, my blood pressure has dropped, I have managed to state my case, it was heard! There are still flaws in the CC's system, but you never know, they may be fixed one day??

Due to several incidents that happened due to the cancellation, plus the op I had on the 6th of April two days after my stay at a CL, and the op pending on 18th May, the hassle and inconvenience caused, I will be receiving free night stays for my use as
an apology to take after my op to recover and recoup!

However, I don't think CCHQ will be wanting to ever take me on again??  Not if they value their jobs! There are still going to be cancellellations and probably will be dealt the same way mine was.  If it happens to you! Don't give in!  Well not unless the
site is 3' under water and plastered all over the news!,

I'm I reading this right? From the Clubs email to Vivien - if you book a five night stay three months in advance (possibly as part of a longer well planned trip around Britian) Then someone books a 10 night stay a week before the break. If then a few pitches
become unavailable it will be the first person to book who's holiday would be cancelled as this would mean more revenue for the CC. That's appalling! Who the hell is running this business. If a cancellation has to be made then it should be the last person
to book, regardless. So revenue comes before customer goodwill does it.
