Gosh what a co-incidence JVB!! Presumably it is still in good condition if he paid that much for it.

Can't believe what we have just done! Checked weather forecast for two or three areas we fancied, and have actually opted to go to the coolest, dampest one! It's still hot and humid here, still very little rain, nights are worse. So we are off to get wet, splash in puddles, maybe even put a jumper on! But oh..........a good night's sleep! Less busy, lots to do and see as well. This is not our normal holiday time, but needs must. laughing

Yes it was in great condition ,only diference was ,that he had had tho have radial van tyres fitted which as they are bigger than the original cross plays so the spare has to be carried in the boot instead of the dedicated spare wheel lockerundecided

The site has emptied of the W/end crowd so it is much quieter although there is a notice advising that a stay untill 1600 is fine

Left Malvern today and now back home again. Not for that long though, we take up residence on our seasonal pitch in September.

I thought I had done something wrong on the way back. A police car with flashing lights appeared alongside on the M42 round Birmingham. As it started to pass I noticed a sign in the back window flashing follow me. Then I realised that there was a car very close behind it and another police car close behind that. Another appeared and occupied the third lane alongside it. As it passed they moved it over into the near side lane in front of us and a further two police cars appeared to make sure it did not make a break onto the M6 toll. They continue to surround it and Sheparded it off the Motorway at junction 9 just after the entry onto the toll road.

It provided a bit of interest on an otherwise nicely uneventful journey.

We are just home after a nice. Weekend away. All our usual local sites (Ayr Craigie, The Ranch, Lomond Woods, Luss ans Strathclyde Park CC) were full people must have anticipated good weather. Anyway we managed to get a pitch on a commercial site in a little village called Maidens in South Ayrshire about 40 miles from us. It was a decent site but it was quite noisey and the pitches were very close together but it is one we would use again if everywhere was booked plus it was quite cheap so can't complain too much. Yesterday we took a drive down the coast to Girvan for a walk about and then just went back to the van to relax. Away again next weekend. Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend too.

Another busy day working away at home.

Went to see Mum this morning, she seems to be ok but is losing weight. They are keeping an eye on her as to what she eats, they say she is eating but not big meals these days.

Back home and after some lunch we both got stuck into some work. OH climbed up and cleaned the roof over the side deck, then the gutters.

After that he washed the ground sheet, then the deck itself. While he was doing all that I cut the grass and strimmed the edges. Followed by giving all the down pipes a coat of black gloss paint. Then we both set about giving the decking a coat of stain. Everything now looking much cleaner and fresher.

We had a nice BBQ for our evening meal, now sat relaxing before deciding what else needs doing tomorrow laughing

I will be glad when the caravan is ready so we can go away and have a break.laughing

lovely sail today! it was our round the islands race starts at the clubhouse up to the far end of the loch round a pile of stones which was barely visible as my boat sits low in the water, then down the loch and round the crannog and back to the club! Summer sailing kit was worn as the weather was fine, but the tack back to the finish line a wave rolled over the side of the boat ending up soaking the shorts! the water was warm though!!

Yesterday wa a full touristy day.  Started out at Mannington Estate where there was a medieval day with lots of folk dressed in costumes.  All sorts of demonstrations like pole lthe turning, fletching , music, archery etc.

This was followed by visiting the Langham Dome, a WW2 building which was used to train anti aircraft gunners.

Afternoon was spent firstly at Waterden church, a tiny place where it only opens once a year for a carol service.  Yesterday there was a series of talks ranging from the history of the church to plans for future renovation and how to attract Barn Owls 🦉 to the property.

Finally had a 3 mile walk around the Marshes at Burnham Norton.

Well they have started laying the fibre cable on our small estate today. The close behind and round to the front of our house is where they have started. Complete chaos!!! People knew this was happening but have left cars parked on pavements which had to be moved. One resident is having her rear garden made over and her contractors have just turned up with no where for them to park!! Still waiting for the Binman to arrive which will be interesting. I don't know if I have a particularly tidy and organised mind but I find it strange that fellow neighbours who know this was happening are just so in their own little world that they don't think beyond the boundaries of their own property!!!

Makes motorway journeys more interesting but it could have been worse if the offending vehicle had collided with you.  Seen this TPAC (tactical pursuit and containment) maneouvre many times on telly.

We have several roads closed around us and no bus service till work is completed. Hope there are no delays for you. Closer to home we have  a bad water leak and urgent repairs are due to our driveway where the conservatory builders want to park their vans etc.....fun and games all round. We also think are absent neighbours hedge, which has become triffid like, has done well from the water leak. yell

Fortunately not too much inconvenience. They did close the spine road through the grid square for a few days as they had the trench across the road. Buses were disrupted whilst it was going on but we only use the bus intermittently so it didn't affect us.

They seem to be progressing pretty quickly with the cable laying. It is a well organised process. They cut through the tarmac to the width of the trench, the digger follows digging the trench, the man comes along with the cable, that is then filled in and compacted followed by the tarmacers who do the final find and compact to level. Our close seems to be almost complete except for the removal of surplus hardcore and the barriers are stacked. But they have the whole of Milton Keynes to do so I imagine it will be a good few months yet!

That sounds as though it's all under control. We now have a trench, with deeper digging to come. The men were dripping, not from the water but from the heat, I felt sorry for them in this weather, 27C just now.

Lovely day again, was overcast to start with but cleared up to sunshine mid morning.

Busy finishing off the cushions, had a bit of hand sewing to do and make some covered button but all done now, even though I say it myself its all looking good.smile

We are having the knee rolls removed from the cushions in the new van, we organised it through the company who made them. They were collected from the dealership 10 days ago so we phoned up this morning to see if they have arrived back there. No, came the reply, ok we will phone the company and see when they will be.

Phoned company, oh sorry can't find anything on them, went through all details with female on phone again giving dates of payment etc. Oh its ok I've found the order now, sorry can't find the goods surprised left our details with her to call back when she has had a chance to have another look and to speak to her colleagues in the morning frown oh well if they can't find them they will just have to make up another set, hope they still have the same material as they only have the base cushions.

Rain was forecast overnight but we didn't get any, still very breezy though. Went for a bike ride this afternoon but not very pleasant as we were getting battered to bits.

Next job on the list is to make a bag for the caravan TV, we ordered on for our size of TV and it was huge, would have fitted a much bigger set than ours so its gone back, I'll make my own.smile

Been catching up on here. Some folks, Tammygirl 😉 making me feel tired! Certainly must be cooler 😃

Very hot and rather humid again today 31c not doing much, essentials whilst it cool, and just chillin in the shade with a book or some knitting, still progressing slowly needs stitching up.

Son here Thursday left Friday early evening, nice to catch up with him. After hospital appointment Thursday  in London we checked out the Queen Elizabeth Park, the old Olympic site, not as actively as we should as humid 32c. Bigger than Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens combined 😲. Had to walk through Westfield Shopping Centre decided on picnic lunch in the shade from M&S, getting our bearings we both spotted a dress which I was made to try on - felt good looked good, loads of compliments as I went to show OH. Bought it start of my wedding outfit, now referred to as the sandwich dress! My kind of shopping 😃.

Son and DIL2B have now, last Saturday, booked the church, luckily date they told us in January still available. They knew it would be village full of older folks so no worries 😲 Now await other arrangements and booking 😉. Harvest in full swing hopefully completed by the end of the week.

Mum had no water for almost 24 hours, saturday we took over our large container full, several gallons, transferring to buckets for toilet flushing and some for drinking. Neighbours very good and bought bottles after they'd been to the supermarket. In fact in the end she was inundated  😂. As far as she knows no bowser, no official support apart from a recorded phone call " most leaks repaired within 2 hours" that was more than 12 hours after it went! Was restored late Saturday evening. Apparently 3 leaks in the village, 2 in the next village and one in the next village to that. She's late 80's and couldn't carry any water herself 😲 will hear how others like her faired in the next few days.

Brue I hope yours is sorted soon. I wonder if it's something to do with the weather 😉. I too feel really sorry the those trying to resolve such issues.  I keep hearing hammering and scaffold erecting going on around us.

Sunday we treated ourselves to a day on the beach at Frinton on Sea, have to test out the new car 😂 fabulous - photos below. Tide just right low at noon, calm and warm. No need for towel after a dip or to change out of wet things. How often can you say that in this country?

Thursday the car goes back for dents, we've noticed another, light needed to be right, and scratches. I suspect OH will have a 'discussion'. We love the car and are trying to get to grips with all the 'aids' and bleeps. Still seats are adjusted to our comfort and radio in the right station 😂😂. We've managed to put petrol in it too. Not had cause to try the heated seats 😲 but the aircon (can I say that now?) Is VERY efficient.

Tammygirl I feel your pain I hope it's sorted soon to your satisfaction.

Forecast for some rain overnight Tuesday,  I'll believe it when it's happened. The garden is more than ready for it to.  We still have piebald grass and good dew but not enough for the shrubs and trees.

TDA I can see why you're opting for a cooler destination 😉 enjoy.

You were brave to walk around London in that heat B2 but good to hear you have made progress with your wedding outfit. It looks as though the weather has indeed been causing problems with the water pipes, not surprising really, the ground is very dry and brittle. The combines have been going here too, I like hearing them but had to do a diversion today to avoid the big tractor and trailer as it met the bin men in the opposite direction....not very clever of me as I discovered another road closed. I backed into a bank last week after meeting two huge trailers with straw bales in a very narrow lane with yet more roadworks on one side, pleased to say the EV carbon fibre bodywork held up well....wink

The web site is so slow, I'm giving up further attempts today. I presume IT are adding the gubbins for booking 9/19? Is this going to happen every month?

    See you all later. smile

Fantastic final day of our 5 day North Norfolk adventure.  Despite the 33C temperature we went to RSPB Titchwell, lots of birds about, in particular waders.  Got a good photo of a turtle dove.

Left van about 5pm and made for Burnham Overy Staithe, walked to the beach, nearly 2 miles as tide was well out.  Had a swim 🏊‍♂️ before walking back to the car and returning to the van.  Will leave here about 10am in the morning.

Now it’s dark the Hercules and Ospreys have just started their night operations

Moved today from Greenacres, the last time that we will be visiting the site while Alan & Liz are there. Such a pity that the new owners will not be up and running before Easter next year at least and that the site will not be listed in the new 2019/20 Site Directory. It was good to meet up with A & L again, and perhaps we might bump into them on a CL somewhere.

Woke to a misty and relatively cool m orning but it soon burnt off and warmed up. Rather slow and hot, about 30C, going round Oxford but still got to the site not long after noon. We are now on site at Barton Hill Farm, south of Buckingham. Lovely and quiet and the first bird we spotted was a Red Kite gliding over the site.

Rain again overnight, and cool temperatures. suits us fine we can get on with the outside work that needs doing, and days out means we can have good walks.

If anyone is struggling with the heat head over to West Wales.
