Well, I've finally received a date for my knee replacement.  It appears Monday 10th September is the day they plan to do the operation.....  It'll be a good job when it's done now!

It will be a great attraction Millie, glad to hear more people can view it, I found it fascinating when we saw it in York Railway museum.

Good luck with your knee op DSB.

Not sure about the reliability of those Lego maintenance men David K. laughing

Daft question milliehull embarassed is that a real space capsule? How long is it at the cathedral? Etc etc. Miss our local news not including your way these days 😤. Saw one at the Science museum years ago when the children were little but would love another look at one. Is it part of the anniversary celebrations?

Glorious morning here - so far, yesterday turned out very wet! Gardens refreshed now thanks - return to sunny days would be lovely before the season turns 😃.

DSB fingers crossed for your operation being when they say and a speedy recovery. Will it have a knock on effect for organ playing? I assume so but for how long? Coming up to your busy time.

SteveL you helicopter flight looked good, shame the visibility wasn't as it had been for months but at least you got up 😉

    Enjoy your day folks

Yes Bakers2 it is the actual space capsule that Tim Peake and the other 2 men came back to earth in. You can see the scorch marks on it! It is quite small and I am amazed that they all managed to fit inside. You can actually look inside it through the windows.  They also have his space suit there.  It is in Peterborough Cathedral until 5th November so plenty of time for you to come and visit. It was really exciting to see Tim Peake at the exhibition launch event last night. He gave a lovely speech and then answered questions from 6 children who had won a competition to ask the questions.

John Lewis Partnership Card, its a credit card that earns points when you shop in either John Lewis and Waitrose and at a reduced rate elsewhere. The points are converted to vouchers but these can only be used in JL or Waitrose.

Good luck with that. They seem to be accepting people for this type of operations all of a sudden. Someone we know has just been put on the list for a hip replacement having waited some time. I have been told it could be years before I have mine done unless there is a serious deterioration which is fine by me if I can manage.

Dry day today and much cooler than of past so OH washed the cars, then I gave the insides a good valet. While OH was 'playing' with his car I decided to give mine a bit of TLC and polished it surprised its been awhile since its had any kind of time spent on it so it was well needed.

My right upper arm is now killing me frown getting all the dead insects off first, then the tar splashes, rub rub rub on my hands and knees, feeling my age today.

Weather forecast isn't good for the next week, back to our normal Scottish summer weather of rain frown I was going to paint the outside of our utility room next week, to match the house which was done in April but it doesn't look like I'm going to get it done. So it could be the attic room that will get a freshen up once I managed to tidy it all.

Off to see Mum tomorrow, we got a phone call yesterday to say she is on an antibiotic as she has a chest infection again, they had the GP out to her during the day as they were concerned as she wouldn't eat or drink and was very sleepy. Hoping she is a little better by tomorrow.

Right I'm off now for a lovely shower and then will tackle something to eat.

MillieH have a lovely break away.

DSB, glad that you now have a date for your Op.

WN, how did you get on putting the bikes in the caravan, I'm interested in how you are going to secure them.

Brue hope your Mum is feeling a little better.

    TG - Don't you ever stop?laughing

Bikes - Success! We've always carried kur bikes in whatsver van we've had, even sometimes resorting to taking the front wheels off and the 2 "touching" pedals. With our previous bikes I manouevred them in on the rear wheel and turned them around the corner. We've always had an end kitchen layout. Then I lay them against the 2 side seats so that the rear wheels make a V, obviously covering the seats in a large waterproof soft material cloth that Mrs WN has sewn together. I've never had a problem with them moving but you can always put something against the wheels if you are worried.

I was a bit worried with these latest bikes as they're e-bikes, so much heavier. We reduced the weight a bit by removing the batteries and Mrs WN stood inside and took the front of the bikes and we managed to turn the corner without mishap. Couldn't stand them on end as too heavy and awkward. Batteries will go in car.

We have had van weighed on a weighbridge to determine MIRO which manufacturer zctually over stated, giving us more payload plus I got a 45 kgs upgrade when buying the van.

    Hope this helps.

Alologies to everyone else but it was what we were up to today.smile

Just having a quick look in. TG. My Mum is on antibiotics too, when we saw her yesterday she was a bit more "with it" but she looked poorly and I'm waiting to see how things go, the GP will be back again on Monday. My sister will be there tomorrow, nephew there to day so at least we can see how things are going. As I see her slightly less than the others, being further away, I tend to notice the changes more easily.

Do hope your Mum will be ok.

Lots of rain here today, very chilly so haven't done anything much just caught up on some sleep and a bit of tidying up.

Had to work out ABM's "S&C," sand and cement came to my mind as we've been surrounded by it recently, then I remembered the cheese mountain. wink

Nice sunny day but only 21C in East Norfolk.  Busy day pottering one way and another.  In between being in the garden, updated satnav, ordered a new dash cam, writing update of last trip.  Stroll down to shops and post office.

Brue and Tammygirl.  I do hope both your Mum's improve with antibiotics.  I don't think the recent extreme heat will have helped them. Dehydration can cause sleepiness and confusion. Best wishes to you both.

I managed to see the capsule and suit when it was in The National Museum of Scotland. I was surprised at how small both of them are! We had the opportunity of a Virtual reality trip on the capsule as it re-entered. Didn't fancy the sudden stop at the end though!

Many thanks WN for the info Re bikes, we have never thought of carrying them in the van until we saw someone doing so earlier this year. We have got a towball bike rack like we had previously so we can mount them first then hitch up the caravan. Once we have everything loaded we will take it to the way bridge to check.

Thanks MilliH, it is a worry when they are so frail, the weight is falling off her and she is very unsteady on her feet  these days. Thanks also for the info o the space shuttle, we might get to see it if its there until Nov.

I saw the capsule and suit when they was on exhibition at the National Railway Museum,York earlier in the year.

Not been the best of weeks for us...Wednesday we went to Claydon House and only managed to go round the park & garden as there was filming going on in the house. Thursday was ok, visit to Bicester Retail Village and a walk along the Oxford Canal. Yesterday it rained all morning which stopped us going to Blenheim Palace as we didn't want to walk round the parkland with Flyte and get soaking wet. Then today we intended going to Waddesdon Manor but OH was unwell during the night and didn't feel well enough for the visit. Fortunately she's feeling much better this evening after having rested up all day at the van. Tomorrow we move up to Nottingham to a new CL for us.
