Back from our 6 weeks away in the caravan yesterday, and it was warmer at home than our last week in Cornwall.  Now for the unpacking and catching up on jobs!

Walked into town for 9am very hot going. Loitered in the aircon banks 😂😂. Got my glasses checked as I'm finding these new ones difficult 😲😲. They are rimless only had them a couple of months but now have to wear halfway down my nose! Usually wear contact lenses but have had very viaifocal glasses as back up and a change for years. Turns out cleaning them I've accidentally moved the nose pads too close together and putting them on your head is a bigger no no than framed glasses, old habits die hard! Phoned for lift home - heavy shopping and it's now 31.1c in the shade, not quite so humid yet!

Our grass was covered with feathers when we got up this morning, we suspect ring neck dove 😢 must have been chased too as lots of leaves. No sign of carcass so hopefully it wasn't killed for fun or it got away.

Cariadon rain cool 😲😲😲. I expect the more normal temperatures forecast for later in the week will feel chilly! No excuse for not vac-ing etc, must absent myself from the house 🤣

Stay hydrated and enjoy your day folks. I'm in the shade, although feet now in the sun catching up on here and about to read. Actually getting bored with reading 😲  not something I consider normal 😉

Back home, van and car unloaded and washing on the go.  Picked Broad and Runner beans, distributed some to neighbours and one neighbour gave as Lettuce and cucumber.  After lunch a stroll down the street to get medication.  A balmy 30C here today with a forecast of showers later tonight.

Very warm here, we're picking lots of tomatoes and courgettes (these seem to be rampant so some are being left out for free by our gate.)

We're expecting our temporary visitors back today. The water board have fixed the leak, lots of drilling this morning. Discussions about replacing the old pipe work which is metal, expensive prospect...frown

Plasterers back tomorrow if it's cooler. The wrong replacement parts for the conservatory arrived again....yell

Chats with my sister about our Mum, who isn't too good at the moment. Waiting for various medical test results and medication which could give a simple solution but we're not sure at present.

Cup of tea time I think, before the peace is shattered. wink

Spent the last two mornings cutting down an old Cypress tree and various woody shrubs as they are encroaching on our caravan storage area. Plenty of trips to the tip with the tree going to someone who has a wood burner. We still have plenty to do to make the area acceptable.

Yesterday afternoon we went to visit my very ill aunt in a hospice. It will be the last occasion I see her alive. We had a chat with my cousin who was there and she has seen a marked deterioration over the weekend. It will be the last remaining link with either my Mother or Father as all other siblings now deceased. As I lost my mother when I was 16 my aunt has been able to provide me with filling in the gaps of her short life. Such is life.

Dull and grey here first thing, not muggy, quite nice for doing outside work so OH decided to go over the back of our garden and cut the backside of our hedges.

I did the backside of another part of our garden that didn't take to long, so ended up crawling round the floor under the hedges and pulling out all the dead leaves, grass and weeds. We got stopped for awhile due to a very light rain shower, cuppa time then back out to finish off.

Garden bin day today so OH managed to squeeze in the hedge clippings between everyone's bins wink I've re-seeded some bits of the grass again as there was still a few ares that the seed hadn't taken, the bits that it has taken are looking good smile Garden looking quite good now.

Back indoors for a nice shower then a spot of lunch (late) just chilling now and catching up on here. Tv on at the European games so got one eye on that as well.

Bakers, temp here is only around 18/19c with a stiff breeze, no problem working or sleeping wink would be happy with a bit more sun though.

It has been a very hot few days here. I spent the morning on Cathedral welcoming duty today and although much cooler in there it was still warmer than usual. We have had a very light shower this evening which has done nothing for the garden and it is getting more humid by the minute. I think it will be all change by the morning though.

We had RAIN 😁🤣. A couple of beefy showers very late evening, I had just got ready for bed otherwise I would have gone out and danced in it 😲. Thus a cooler night! Number 1, in the chain, water butt is 3/4 Full 😁😁. Nice breeze this morning and currently 18c clear blue sky. No excuse to avoid housework 😉 towels pegged out bedding in the washing machine 😁

    Enjoy your day folks

Thanks Millie, at 95 Mum has done well but she has suddenly become quite poorly. We are taking each day at a time at the moment.

Sorry to hear about WN's aunt, it is sad to see the last of the older generation go, my Mum is the last of our immediate family.

A cooler start here, we were up early so the plasterers could get going but our early morning alarm in the shape of our grandson has also returned although they'll be off again on Friday. Camping on a friend's farm.

Just snatching a few minutes on the pc. sorting a few things out and looking in on here.

No sign of rain in my part of MK. It seems a bit cooler this morning but have been unable to open the front windows as they are cutting into the pavements laying cable opposite the house creating too much dust!

Had a call from Virginmedia after I had written a letter of complaint to the CEO about the loss of the UKTV programmes.  The end result was a £60/year reduction in my package.  I was ready to cancel my whole package but the broadband speed is the best in the area.

Waiting to hear from DD.....they are supposed to get the keys to the new house today.

Not a bad day here, some sun.  Lots of roads closed locally due to the Cycling Time Trials, hopefully we can get to the new house without too much hassle.

Well  done  everybody laughing  !!  You  all  seem  to  be  coping  nicely  today .

I've  done  all  the  ironing,  everything  ready  for  re-loading  into  the  'van  tho'  I'm  not  away  till  next  Wednesday  frown.

House  Vacuumed  &  dusted  -  suppose  I  should  re-vacuum  it  now  'cos  some  of  the dust  just  must  have  fallen  where  people  can  see  it  !! Normally  I  have  signs  out  saying " You  can  Point  and  Comment  but  you  must  NOT  touch"  but  sadly  the  signs  were  time  expired and  so  they  too  went  where  the  dust  should  go  embarassed.  Re-arranged  the  furniture  so  I  get  the  use  of  the  reclining  armchair  --  much  better  for  my  old  back  than  the  reclining  settee.  Visitors  will  have  to  suffer  the  settee  and a load  of  cushions  smile.

Just  got  the  letter  for  my  Retinopathy  Eye  Checks,  so  might  go  off tomorrow  &  try  my  old  optician  and  get  a  FULL  eye  test  'cos  I'm  non  too  chuffed  with  these  from ( Where  I  should  not  have  gone  to )cool.  I've  struggled  with  these  latest  bi-focals  since  I  got  them  in  April.  It  might  just  be  me  but  I'll  give  the  new  shop  a  good  try  &  a  pocketful   of  cash  as  well  I  suppose.money-mouth

Cloudy  &  cooler  in  the  County  Palatine,  even  seen  a  couple  of  ladies  with  brollies  up  but  they  might  just  be  in  parasol - mode.

Off to our local market town this morning. Had some transactions to do at Santander. They have moved the opening time back from 9.30 to 10.00 on Wednesdays. There was a large queue waiting when we got there just after 10. We asked the staff why the time had changed. Apparently Santander have moved all offices to 10 on Wednesdays regardless of local needs.

This afternoon spent trying out our new Thule fold up bike carrier.laughing

Had a fair dose of rain from late morning but a lovely afternoon.

Hope your mum is improved, Brue.

The overnight rain didn't happen frown bonus today has been lovely and sunny, forecast was for rain showers but that didn't happen either.

Busy morning at the sewing machine again making soft covers for the straps that support the bike rack, can't have the new car getting rubbed can we.

WN, your new bike rack sound good, we saw a folding one on the back of a German PVC. OH liked the look of it, is yours one that you can use while towing a caravan or is it for use when solo?

I have enough material left to make a tea cosy for caravan use, OH thinks I've gone off my rocker laughing men just don't understand that things just have to co ordinate.

Brue hope your Mum feels better soon.

Will try for the third time to reply to TG.

It's a 2 bike rack that is towball mounted, can carry 60 kgs and fits into the well behind the passenger seat, wrapped in a Thule bag it's hard to see. Seems a good piece of kit.

Although we haven't had the heat that you have had recently did a spot of weeding the ground is still very dry! The grass has been reseeded three times to no avail! Mind you that fat pigeon is still hanging around!

It will be nice for you to get back to your role at the cathedral!

WN, thanks for the info sounds like the one we saw on the German PVC.

robsail, I reseeded our grass about a  month ago, it took ages to sprout, nothing until we had 4 days of light rain then it really took off. I've just done a few patches that didn't take and once again I'm hoping for rain wink

BTW what I was looking at was the Perseid meteor shower.  Tonight, if the cloud keeps away, we could see something like 80-100 hits per hour.

Think I saw a spot of the watery substance, can't be sure mind.

Back to my one of my favourite pastimes today, a little pottering.  It's great, no plans, deadlines hence no stresslaughing

Generally too much light pollution here before midnight to see shooting stars 😢. Street lights all go off, although on a really clear night it is possible - but laying on the sun/moon bed helps😂.

Our 2 hedgehogs are still about lots of calling cards, I'm putting out lots of food maybe there's more than 2 ??? only seen 2 at once. The converted bread bin is used daily/nightly for 40 winks. Hopefully the rain will enable them to find their own food too.

Much cooler this morning very nice gentle pitter patter of the wet stuff at present. The humidity returned yesterday so I'll finish off housework today 😉. Once that's done I'm with Oneputt. OH just taken the car back for scratch and dent sorting, wonder what courtesy car well get?

We are now at Tewksbury, must say its "different" since last visit and the first time that we have been on a hardstand made of block paving as seen on the front of houses same colour "pink"as well but they should survive any floodingwink

And yesterday had to remember where my  raincoat wassurprised

Much cooler this morning but still clear sky
