What are you all up to

It's very warm in Norfolk just now after a cloudy day.
Millie thanks for the bus info. Last time we were in West Runton we intended to use the buses but they were packed with Sheringham 1940's weekenders. This time we've got even less time but we'll use our travel day there to see a few things. We did that last time due to moving the lengthy distance between Seacroft and Incleboro....

Just back from Chedworth where we did a very pleasant walk, a new one to me, can't be many of those left in the Cotswolds. A couple of rather awkward stiles which Lady had to be lifted over (she doesn't do scrambling through small spaces!). Disappointed to find that dogs aren't allowed in the grounds of the Roman Villa so had to make do with gawking from a distance as the walk went directly past it. Back for a well earned cuppa and a custard tart (please don't anyone tell Mrs M!
) and just discovered that a few pitches along from us is a couple with 4 beautiful Irish Setters all relaxing silently in the late afternoon sun!

Third walk with Rosa, noticed three cherry pickers in use at the "Big House" as it is being repainted and all being done by hand with just normal size 4inch? paint brushes it must be costing mega money, it is very big,and was converted to luxury apartments some years ago,one of the owners has just got a border collie pup ,who we see quite often it is called Vasachi?

We have done the walk past the villa a few times M, it is a bit of a pain that dogs aren't allowed inside the fencing! That's typical NT for you! We recently contacted the Trust about Mount Grace, which is one of those dual NT/EH properties. The EH staff were carrying out a survey to try and allow dogs around certain areas, as they are losing a lot of visitors, especially on hot days. Might be a covenant on the site from a long time ago, not sure.
Well the weather certainly played a huge part in our day here today......warm and sunny which meant a nice canal walk with a swim for the dogs. And I have had to water my garden, another weather related task! Lovely drive to our walk, lots of haymaking going on round here. We passed an anti fracking protest camp as well, been there a good while.......

A bit unfair to compare posters on here. I think the guidelines offer sensible advice, especially about not dominating threads, thankfully most on CT don't do that.
Moulesy, glad you nearly got to Chedworth, lovely high up area of the Cotswolds. Must have been past it hundreds of times and still not been in!
The site chicken has just appeared, she's very pampered, fed and stroked by all. Excuse me, must go and talk to her....

Decided to move on a day earlier than planned, so today is our last day in Anger, its been lovely this afternoon again but the mornings seem to struggle and are always overcast.
Did a bit of washing this morning while OH went for bread (forgot to order it yesterday at reception) washing all dry by lunchtime as we had a good breeze and though overcast it was really warm.
Nice cycle into Anger after lunch, along the river then returned through the park. Couple of hours then spent at the pool on site, lovely and warm water.
Heading towards Mt St Michael tomorrow, thought we would add it as we still have time in hand and the weather is set fair.
Sounds like you are all enjoying yourselves and the good weather.

A bit unfair to compare posters on here.
No more unfair than David determining what is and is not of interest. Which is the simple point that I am making.
In a similar vein David criticises Malcolm for answering posts individually as though this was totally wrong and suggests that all posts should be responded to collectively. WHY??
I chose Goldie's posts but I could have chosen anybody's as a direct comparison was not needed.
If you don't want to read somebody's posts ignore them. That includes mine if desired because, as with Malcolm, I tend to reply to posters individually being a simple minded person

Right now I'm having a break ( well deserved I must say
) and listening to TMS with the Aussies getting a good old seeing to
!! Have unloaded the m-van almost totally
. Even re-lining the cupboards with non-slip matting, stripped the shower-room wash basin to ensure all is clean & tidy, ditto the toilet area as well. All this so I can justify having a lazy w/end at Kelsall Steam & Vintage Rally with nobody suggesting I could be more productively employed, well not without risking a fat lip at least
!! Should anybody query that statement I just refer them to Rocky 2 B's nickname for me
.
Truly hope everybody is enjoying doing what they want to do or, at least, doing what they have to do with Good Grace & a Smile.
Best Wishes Y'all
Brian ( who really must stop watching old American shows !! )

Personally I find news and photos of Goldie's herd extremely interesting.

When our awning was still zipped up one morning she kept peering in through the window until we opened the door and let her in. I wonder whether there are anymore chickens or whether she is the site pet.

You seem to have completely misrepresented my post. Was not Malcolm seeking advice on what was an acceptable method of posting in the "What are you up to today" thread? I was just offering a few pointers of how that might work and sometimes an example is useful in getting the point across nothing more nothing less. Had he not asked I would not have commented.

We've had a couple of contrasting days, although the weather's been similar both days being fine, warm and dry but cloudy with a bit of light rain in the evening. Yesterday was a single property day as we spent the whole time at Floors Castle, doing the riverside walk followed by a wander through the gardens before lunch, then going into the house in the afternoon. The car park is one of the best we've found for those with dogs, being completely shaded by trees.
Today we visited both Dryburgh and Melrose Abbeys, dogs allowed in both, as well as walking along to the Wallace Statue, had lunch at Scott's View and popped into The Harmony Garden in Melrose.

A lovely day Nellie! Love the Abbeys and Wallace Monument. We have been to Floors, but not inside house. Tour of Britain if you recall. By the way, I think one of stages of this year's race might be of interest to you?
A really good chance to see all riders, great atmosphere at start.

Just catching up with the posts, my day was rather " uninteresting " so make up for it reading what everyone else has been up too!
I remember visiting Chedworth Roman Villa on a school trip, can't have been very impressed, as I've never been back.
Reading about the site chicken, reminded me that our local Morrisons has now got a new bench dedicated to the shop cat, it's been a regular visitor for about 18 years and unfortunately died recently.
ABM. Our local big steam rally at Bloxham is this weekend.
Off for walk round the park, with the dog now to enjoy the evening sunshine.

ABM, we had the audio guide which was excellent and it made a point of getting us to view the gargoyle, especially that one.
Tda, it's more like a museum inside, but very interesting all the same. There's even a cycle way round the grounds now. You would have appreciated the gardens, especially the greenhouse plants.
M, have a lovely time at Cirencester, I know how much you like it round there.
