I can now get internet connection to new my mobile phone having downloaded the Caravan Club wifi here at Northbrook Farm CMC site yesterday. I've purchased 12 months for £25 so 3 more points for my Tesco Club credit card!

Northbrook Farm CMC site is a hotspot site too, so our pitch must be within the hotspot area because I can use it in the caravan and awning.

Interesting looking at Jupiter last night as you can clearly see the moons in their new positions.

Be off to North Norfolk in a couple of hours but unlike Moulsey I'll try and leave the custard tarts alone

Don't know about the head torch Malcolm but here a little further north, sunset isn't until 21:35 and I would certainly want my headlights on before 21:49.🤔

That's ok for a petrol driven car but a different story for an electric car, SteveL because the headlights will drain the battery and reduce the range. In those circumstances, it's best not to use the headlights, if possible, until the legal time arrives for switching on.

Is there a legal time to switch your lights on ???? ,I thought it was when light levels were poor and bad visibility ...........................

I believe the legal time is when the street lights come on. On a day of good visibilty, that would be 30 minutes after sunset. On a day of poor visibilty, the street lights would come on much earlier and headlights would need to be switched on by then.

The electric Smart car has a range of 99 miles but this would be reduced to 60 miles when the headlights and windscreen wipers are switched on.

And the "legal" time is when visabilty is poor,do you use your headlights,or are you one of those who can see others as they have their lights on in rain and spray as required  so i do not need towink

We always drive with lights on, and that includes rear lights, I do not agree with this EU decision that only front daylight lights need to be fitted.

Coming home from visiting our son on Sunday, it was wet and a bit misty, but not dark.   Many  cars had lights on, but quite a few had no lights on at all.  Of the ones that we could barely see ahead as they had no rear lights showing, most had front lights showing, so obviously using only the daylight lights.

Our car has an automatic lights system, but I keep it on dipped headlights so I know I can always be seen from behind too.

Before you enlightened me, it never occurred to me that tin openers were available for sale in pet shops. Now I think about it, it stands to reason because pet food can be purchased in cans too!

Now I've learnt something else. I thought yours was just a pet shop. That explains it. I remember you saying that the tin openers you sell are made in uk. These might cost more than the Made in China ones they sell in Tesco but probably worth the higher price if it can open tins easily. No point in buying one from Tesco if it doesn't work.

If you do mail order, I could purchase one from you and use card payment, if that's possible. Your shop is in Kent so maybe too far to travel there unless I get enough time off work to visit your area.

You might think twice about that if it was an electric car, Kj and you needed the full range. In such circumstances daylight lights should be sufficient because the rear red lights show everytime you use the brakes and slow down.

I know that in Scandinavia, headlights must be switched on at all times even in the summer!

Will not be worrying me at all Malcolm,  I have not seen an EV that can tow our 1900kg twin axle!

We might consider an EV as a second car in the future, maybe something like brue has, but not one that has the rather limited range that you are talking about.

Overall I value my safety too much to take any risks with being seen on the road, especially on a motorway where the traffic is moving at 70mph.

I just received a phone call from work. They've asked me to come in two hours earlier at 4 p.m. So I'll be doing 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. today, a 7 hour shift which is full-time work and the increased pay, drop money and tips to go with it, thankfully. If I keep getting this many hours each week, I'll be well on track of exceeding the £18600 a year income rule for my wife's visa.

So if we don't get a visa result before the end of this tax year and I achieve the financial income target, a fresh visa application can be submitted, for a spouse visa, to the Home Office, with bank statements showing proof of income that meets their requirements, with a 5 year route to settlement.

    Happy days!money-mouth

Going faster can drain more power out of the battery too,Kj. I'll need to use the M23 for the commute from Gatwick to Lancing and on the inside slow lane at 40 to 50 mph to get maximum range! At such a slow speed the daylight running lights should be sufficient until lighting up time. Fast acceleration will need to be avoided too! The 99 mile range takes into account the daylight running lights, brake lights etc. but not dipped or full beam headlights and windscreen wipers!

If you are worried about lights Malcolm, might be wise asking Husky if he sells powerful torches, you could then buy them same time as the can opener.laughing

Ssssssh! You never know who might read this! wink

Drove to Sapperton this morning and did one of my favourite walks in these parts along the Macmillan Way, past Pinbury Park, up to the hillside church at Edgeworth and back past the polo ground. It was very sunny but with a strong and cool breeze to keep things comfortable. When we got back, because it would be rude not to, we stopped off for a pint at The Bell (and a bowl of water for Lady!)

Just about to have a cuppa and an unspecified edible item consisting of a Pastry casing filled with ...er...custard ( well Sainsburys sell them in packs of 4, just right for 3 days away! laughing)

OH  Malcolm,    I  thought  better  of  you  than  THAT surprised !!

Please  don't  repeat  the  phrase  " The  inside  Slow  Lane"  or  you'll  be  getting  a  visit  from  TigerFish  In  A  Tantrumyell

There  is  no  slow,  fast  or  faster  lane  on  any  motorway,  Nearside  is  the  running  lane  and  any  others  are  just  for  over-taking,  despite  what  you  might  see.  innocent

Agreed  that  there  are  occasional  variations  where  motorways  join  or  separate.
