Apparently, the Smart Electric car has a top speed of 81 mph and can do from 0 to 60 kph in 4.5 seconds! So I expect considerable braking will be necessary to get it down to 5 mph.

Because of a rapidly developing cataract I am having sight tests every 6 months, courtesy of the NHS . I don't always require new glasses but my contact lenses,  private tests, are sometimes tweaked. I am incredibly happy that someone is looking after my precious sight. I rarely drive these days but it also ensures that I am legal to drive.

In New Zealand if your wear vision correction (glasses or lenses) it is noted on your driving licence, which has to be on you whenever you drive instant fines for not having it! not wearing them is an instant fine too. On a couple of occasions my daughter was stopped for routine check on vehicles she had to remove both her lenses to prove they were in 😂

As you have diabetes you are lucky enough to receive extra tests for your blood sugar levels and eyes. All advice given by experts should be listened to and acted upon to the best of your ability, it's a VERY nasty disease that should be taken seriously before it changes your life. Sight loss, that's why you have extra tests and limb loss are very very real even for those who 'obey' the rules. Loss of either will restrict your ability to do your job, both the driving and the walking, thus reduce your income and who knows what other consequences as a result. With regard to your having to have new glasses you can always have new lenses put in your existing frames, once you have a couple of pairs frames you are never without glasses. In fact anyone who has to wear glasses all the time should have a spare pair for emergencies 😀

Not a problem for us, we both have Wellies. It's just a question of wearing them everytime we go outside and a large brolly when raining.

My 2005 X-Trail has a top speed of 113mph but ticks over easily at 4mph.

I think most of the problems will be down to the driver rather than the car wink

Funnily enough my 3.2 litre Shogun can manage that 5 mph speed better than the Smart car.

Sorry to hear that HD, hope the outcomes can be positive.

Just had a call to say I have an appointment to see the consultant so I’m guessing my scans came up with something.  Hoping it’s just to remove the rest of the lump but time will tell.

Still we have another full day at this lovely CL so going to make the most of it despite the weather and stuff🌞

Wow went to check on Arbuthnott this morning. He'd definitely been on the move bedding a bit untidy. OH got the work ready to make him a proper house and needed to move his temporary home. He's gone! Ate little of his food, birds and other visitors to the garden have extra today 😃. OH upset as he hasn't seen him, I only got a glance last night. Only consolation is can draw is that he must have found a better home in the garden.

My thoughts are with you , nothing will bring you comfort until you know what is happening.

When ill health knocks on your door whether yours or family members, it puts life into perspective and nothing else matters.

Exactly, Oneputt. My life needs to be centred around money. I prefer to concentrate on that than end up bankrupt. The last thing I need in my life is the work and expense of looking after children or grandchildren. I need to keep well away from my son and granddaughter. He has made his bed, now he must lie in it, as the saying goes!

My money needs to be spent on the person who is useful and helpful to me not on ex-family that have no interest in being in contact with me at all because of the previous marriage break up. Going through divorce drained me emotionally and financially. As far as I'm concerned, my son contributed towards that situation and so I feel very bitter about his behaviour towards me and therefore, cannot have anything to do with him or his offspring.  Having got rid of that burdensome family situation , I am now making a new and much better life with my present wife.

Good luck to you, Oneputt, if you are finding happiness in your family situation. My personal experience is that life is not all about playing happy families! Family situations can sometimes be very bitter and very unhappy if you have family that are dysfunctional and my family is precisely that. I'm sorry if that upsets you, Oneputt but I'm afraid I have had to face the reality of it all!

I was of course meaning that as it does not tick over, will it creep forward as our auto petrol does, or stay stationary unless you push the loud pedal. I assumed you had a test drive so would know.
