Nice photos @nelliethehooker. Weather beginning to break here as well. Quite windy judging by the noise coming from the woods behind.
MiL was offered a Covid jab when having her flu jab today so accepted. Must have affected her somehow as she left 90% of her Rhubarb Gin tonight saying she didn't fancy it. Oh BTW she did come home with a new pair of trousers!
OH and self off for our Covid and flu jabs on Saturday. OH never likes having both done on the same day but no option this time. They were only doing non priority covid jab for under 70s on the basis of having flu one as well. These youngsters expect freebies everywhere.😀

@nelliethehooker happy birthday🥳 whatever “youth dust” you and Mrs Nellie use, could you send some for us please😁
Some of you are having unfortunately exciting days, I hope your GD is doing ok @DEBSC
Kind regards to others as well, not up to speed with goings on at the moment. A grand day out for me last Sunday, the Yarndale event in Skipton, could have spent a fortune, but limited things to a few bargains, some patterns and plenty of inspiration. Lovely day out though. I have just finished knitting a sleeveless jumper for me, perfect for around house and garden as it drops cooler.
Flu jab for us this coming weekend, but abandoned to our own bank accounts for a COVID jab😡 Don’t mind paying for me, but OH was on extremely vulnerable list, with letters from his consultants, so will be chasing this up. £100 a jab.

We were originally to head south on Saturday, but altered that to go home instead for the fitting of our new patio door on the 6th, but that has been delayed due to a supply problem. Will probably not be till at least the 27th now as the joiners also have a holiday booked. So we are to go home on Saturday, just hope the wind will not be too bad, at least we are already on the correct side of the river.
We had a nice visit from my friend who lives in Haddington, dry mainly, but heavy rain later, after I had taken him home.
Welcome to the 80+ club Nellie!

Both of us have had to cancel our planned covid and flu vaccinations at 12.30 today….after contracting Covid. We would never had known if we hadn't done a test, and the strange thing is both our symptoms are completely different,me with the cough, and high temp,my wife with headaches and sore joints especially knees.

I think you can't have the jab for a further month, @Fozzie, after you test clear. Best check it out. We're off tomorrow for ours. Fingers crossed you both recover quickly.
I hope you get some sense from your Health provider @Takethedogalong. I know how he feels although the problem may now finally be resolved for me, fingers crossed. Your OH definitely needs the jab and definitely qualifies in any equation. Good luck. We like Skipton, glad you had a good time.
Waiting in for a Gas engineer to call. Still fairly normal autumn weather here at present, that is showers and a good breeze.

We were booked to have the weekend at Ayr Craigie Gardens club site one of our local haunts but the weather is quite bad here with high winds so didn’t fancy towing in that today but the site were very good they moved our booking to a weekend nearer the end of the month so that was good. Disappointed but would rather postpone than risk damage to the car and van. So going at the end of the month and will make use of our free night voucher. Hoping the wind doesn’t get any worse but it’s been windy all day and pouring it down most of the day but think the worse of the weather is to be further north of us. @nelliethehooker happy belated birthday
Hope everyone has a nice weekend

Booked our Covid and Flu jabs today for the end of Ocotober at the Open University. Not sure yet how we will get there, need to discuss with one of the boys or just get a taxi, fortunately not overly expensive in MK.

@Takethedogalong thanks, there is no secret to our "youth dust" just a healthy diet, plenty of fruit and veg, lots of walking, very little stress (thankfully) and a few good friends. Being able to afford to get away as much as we do, although we are canny with out dosh, helps a lot too, as we are seldom suck in a rut fortunately.
The way the weather has been today @Francis you have certainly done the right by not taking the caravan to Ayr, as we had lots of rain from mid morning and the wind, which had died down over night, has increased markedly throughout the day. It was coming from the South earlier, bringing heavy rain with it, which made the caravan really rock but has moved round to the west, and as we are facing that way it isn't quite so bad. Hopefully it will decrease through the night again, fingers crossed. Thanks too you and @DSB for the greetings,

Welcome to the 80+ club Nellie! There must be quite a few of us now on here @KjellNN !!😆
Hope the wind has dropped for your tow back home tomorrow.

Although it was relatively dry and not windy we decided just to return to Culzean Estate as at least it was sheltered there. As we got out of the car it started to rain and that continued till mid afternoon. We did manage a drying walk under the trees before returning to our site at lunchtime. We came across this fine sculpture of a Grey Heron deep in the woods.
It is dry, but very windy still, but I might get out with Flyte shortly without getting wet.

We are now home safely after an uneventful tow from Edinburgh.
We spent most of yesterday with our friends in Aberdour, got there about 11, wind not that strong, but around 4 it got much stronger and heavy rain too. We took advantage of a lull in the lashing rain around 8pm to battle our way out to the car and set off back to the site. Lots of strong gusts on the way, but the new bridge has good shelter built in so no danger there. The old bridge was closed.
We got a right battering overnight, sleep was intermittent, but by the morning it was much better and no problem on the motorway. Noticed that a couple of large conifers on the site had suffered damage, but did not damage any caravans.
Totally calm and even sunny outside now, but DD said it was very bad in Glasgow overnight, and they woke up to a fair amount of tree debris on their driveway, fortunately nothing large and heavy! Cars were parked out front, so no damage. I have not been up into the back garden to check properly, but it looks like all our trees are still upright and in their usual places. House across the road has lost 2 panels of their side fence. Last storm they lost 3, now replaced, so these 2 are the ones next to those. Looks like a few other panels are also damaged, and some posts broken too.

We had torrential rain until just 2 this afternoon accompanied by gale force winds blowing from the west. Touch wood, everything seems to have survived. It's now just very gusty and dry so hopefully the worst has passed.
We were misinformed by the receptionist at the surgery about 2 weeks ago when we were told they were taking bookings for Covid and Flu insofar as he gave us appointments for both. When we arrived this morning we were informed that the criteria for Covid jabs had been tightened by the Government and the Covid jabs are only available to 75y.o. and over and those very vulnerable that are taking immune suppressant drugs so we were refused a Covid jab. This would probably explain @Takethedogalong predicament yesterday. I'm seeing my Kidney consultant next week so will ask him what the score is. I'm assuming this is Nationwide although I've not seen anything in the press about it.
Hope everyone survived the storm unharmed.

@Wherenext The same thing happened to me, I've been getting Covid boosters for some years now as my surgery said way back then that I was eligible. I received an invitation to book and I and choose a pharmacy nearer to me than my doctors. I turned up and was told that I could not have the covid jab for the same reason you were given.
I went back to my surgery and they said that was a mistake as I had been getting them I was still eligible, they immediately offered me an appointment to have one next week. It might be worth talking to your doctor/surgery again? I certainly feel safer knowing I'm getting one.
Post edit, I've just remembered the receptionist spoke to the nurse practitioner if that helps.

We phoned our surgery on Friday to book our jabs and were offered an appointment the following day, which we were unable to take as we are still away. The receptionist then said that we should phone again closer to when we get home and they would sort out a date then, provided they still had any supply of the vaccine left. If not we will have to find a pharmacy in town where we can get one.
It was a rather wild night with high winds and heavy rain, which thankfully finally subsided and we managed a few hours of sleep. Today has been mixed, not quite as windy or wet, however we decided not to venture out in the car, and I just walked Flyte from the caravan while, this morning OH baked a Ginger Cake in the Airfryer. This afternoon has been dry and even sunny at times, so I walked down to Culzean Estate but the grounds and castle were closed off. I had a quick look into the C&CC site where there were guys removing a tree that had fallen against their information hut. Hope that was the only thing that had been affected.
Glad to hear that you got home without any trouble @KjellNN. Things seldom are simple with your appointments it appears @Wherenext hope you are able to get your Covid jab in the end.

Thanks @Cornersteady - I'll take it up with my Kidney Consultant next week. Hope I'll get the same response you had.

Like CS we got an invitation, in our case by email, to book our Covid jabs and that has been the case for the last few. when booking you have to enter your NHS and number and date of birth which I imagine acts as a filter. As I mentioned we were able to book Covid and flu together which saves us a journey.
Storm Amy ddn't really amount to much here. Obviously its been windy and we have had some rain but thus far nothing out of the ordinary.

@Wherenext and @Cornersteady - I booked my Covid jab having received an email from NHS, inviting me to do so because I was over 75. However, Ros didn't receive one, even though she qualified as well - so it seems to be a bit hit and miss but I did book us both in, on line, at the Chemists. All they did when we arrived was check name and address and D.O.B. - and that was it - we were in!

For those that need it the "Green Book Chapter" is part of the Governments edicts given to health providers. The green book basically explains a lot about Covid and the vaccines but on Page 25 gives a definition of the eligibility criteria for those people who are aged 16 and over. I will be referencing this when I email my GP tomorrow (not available today). As I have stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease I obviously qualify for an injection. Hope this helps others who may be confused about their eligibility.

An hour of gardening this morning as its brown bin day tomorrow and we hate not maximising full use of it. I was surprised at how well the grass took the rain from yesterday. It obviously needed it. Normally at this time of year I would be squelching when walking on it.

It was still very windy when we went to bed last night and it was not until around 5:00 before it slackened off. We got packed up and away in the dry, & had a mostly uneventful tow down to our latest site. We did have to take evasive action to avoid smashing into a fallen tree, which I only spotted when we were nearly on top of it, but thankfully no vehicles were coming in the opposite direction. It was surprisingly dry on the roads and at the site although there are some small lakes in the fields and the rivers are in spate. Very quite here as we are the only unit on the CL, and thankfully there is no wind to speak of, and although we have some drizzle late in the afternoon it is dry now.

Arrived at Sandringham yesterday afternoon. Pitched up on the new extended bit of the site. Looks like a nice site... Automatic check in was seamless, but I do have the urge to go down to the office.... it just feels a bit odd that we haven't seen a member of the site team... 🙂
When I booked, I was a bit concerned that the site would be very shaded - I generally avoid pitching underneath trees - but we are in the middle of the new section and it feels quite open.... I can see the blue sky clearly.... Just hope it stays blue!!! 🤣🤣

Glad you survived @nelliethehooker , close call with the tree🫣 I think you are on a site we like, in D&G? Hope it’s stays better weatherwise for rest of this trip for you, I will be in touch.
We have lovely blue skies and sunshine this morning as well @DSB
Anyone else noticed that CT seems to have a new logo/motif?

"Anyone else noticed that CT seems to have a new logo/motif?"
Gosh - you're on the ball. @Takethedogalong - I hadn't until you mentioned it! Wonder what that's all about? Can't see the significance myself but I'm sure someone (? @Rowena) will explain😀
Enjoy your stay at Sandringham @DSB - we like Sandringham and are there again, for Christmas this year. We usually go for pitches somewhere in the 109 to 113 area which have now been turned into SP's since the refurb.
