Youngest brother now out of hospital, heart operation was successful, he looks so much better.
DSB - David I watch a lot of UTube and recently stumbled across a young lad, Ben Maton, the Salisbury organist, he normally travels around visiting small village churches giving their history and playing the organ. I now have a long list of church’s I need to visit
Booked the car in for service and MOT whilst I’m in Hampshire next week visiting elder brother

A bright sunny, but chilly, start to the day. We moved from the Dunbar round to one of other favourite sites, Beecraigs Country Park at Linlithgow. There was some holdup around the A1/A720 junction but it only slowed us up a little. The site is about 2/3 rds full, with quite a few hired M/Hs. There has been quite a bit of wind damage in the Country Park woods and some of the footpaths are closed due to timber work, but there should still be plenty of paths open for our intended walk tomorrow.

@Oneputt really pleased to hear the news of your brother. Must take a bit of worry off your mind.
@DavidKlyne MiL has a vertigo problem and the physio said he has done as much as he can with her use of the walking stick and recommended a Rollator. She still uses the stick to get from the house to the car but won't use it in the house again. Horses for courses. The stick certainly helped me at first but I guess I was lucky in eventually being able to walk unaided although my sense of balance isn't totally reliable if I turn quickly. Good luck.

@Oneputt excellent news about your brother. I hope your elder brother is doing ok as well.
Loving the photos and travel tales from folks.
Sorry Mrs Kjell isn’t feeling much better, it’s very wearing is Sciatica.
It’s been a lovely sunny week so far here, after Saturday’s downpours, but there’s a chill in the air now out of the sun. Hoping to get some seed collecting done and lawn cut once dry enough later in day. OH has both new shockers and wings done on Jeep, he’s just waiting for some paint now, to try and use on the “plastic” mudguards around each wheel. Looking really good, a resurrected classic. More bits and pieces to buy no doubts though. A new steering wheel for MG arrived last week………..

A lovely day at Lynmouth yesterday. Journey not so good. We got to just before Arlington but Road Closed signs up, so we turned off to go up towards West Down, very narrow bendy county lanes. Fortunately mostly locals using the lanes so any cars we met on bends were going fairly slowly. Unfortunately SOME holidaymakers think if they sound their horn on a bend! (all that does is frighten the livestock) and continue travelling at 40 miles per hour they will be fine. It was a beautiful day and Lynmouth was surprisingly busy. All us Golden Oldies dashing out. We had a nice lunch, mussels for me and chicken burger and chips for OH. We then visited the shop of the artist Maurice Bishop, he was there painting and we had a chat. I want a seascape picture for our living room but despite a good while trying to decide I failed on making that decision. Now checking his website to decide at home and return at a later date to his shop. Then time for the obligatory game of putting. Only us and one other couple on the green. OH beat me as usual. Lastly a sit down in the sun to admire the view, with a tasty ice cream, purchased by the victor. A fairly long detour home to avoid the road closure but a very enjoyable day.
I’m now off to cut down a few branches off our old apple tree, it is getting too big. I’m going to make use of the mini chain saw that I purchased not too long ago, it’s already proving extremely useful. Then more garden tidying before autumn really sets in. It was chilly here this morning, our heating turned itself on. OH is getting the winter feather duvet down from the loft. I was cold last night with the summer one still on. Changing our duvets is always a time of changing seasons.4 -
Sounds a lovely day @DEBSC simple pleasures, not too far away from home. I have a mini chainsaw as well, very useful. OH wields the big one, I follow on with the small one, making sure wood small enough to go into stove.
I am sat here becoming a blonde at the moment🤭 Hair cut later in the week.

Sunny here again today, so will finish the outside checks on the caravan this afternoon.
This morning I was at the flat SIL has that he rents out, a new toilet seat was required. Found a decent one at B&Q for £40, so wanted to make sure it would fit OK while there was still time to exchange it if necessary. The tenant, he has been there over 10 years, is very good, and had removed the old seat and deep cleaned the bowl before I arrived. Fitting went well, seat seems good quality and fixing system is good, so that was a relief.
On my way home I went in past DD’s to pick up a rollator she had seen being given away on her local Facebook page and thought could be good for OH. It is similar to the one WN pictured, but has a bag rather than a tray. Will see how useful it is, we can always pass it on if it does not suit, but OH is thinking she can use it downstairs in the house, and leave the walking sticks upstairs……they are not easy for her to carry up and down while holding onto the bannister.
Our house is “upside down”……bedrooms and utility room downstairs, living rooms and kitchen upstairs, and also a bedroom and bathroom, so once upstairs in the morning, she only needs to go down if doing washing, or going out. The rollator would be useful when gathering up washing and moving stuff around downstairs, as she also has balance problems and likes to have something to hold onto. Whether she would want to use one outside is another matter, she manages well with the sticks, but if she did then I think we would invest in one that also has a seat built in.
The hallway is now getting quite cluttered with all these new “aids” !

Arrived home after having lunch at a nice tearoom. Came back through Stoney Middleton over the tops past the turn off for Castleton/Tideswell and then past a manic Manchester Airport. Lovely day for the drive. It's about my maximum time in one go these days.
The trip really couldn't have gone any better, certainly after the problem we had with MiLs fall on the last holiday. She bought OH a furry Pig today for some strange reason. I think she felt a little guilty for "allowing herself" to be talked into buying a £60 pair of gloves!😱😂 So I was given the honour of naming said pig, which will now be known as "Sausage"🤣 They're both pensioners but sometimes you just can't stop yourself being 10 y.o. again.

@Oneputt glad to read that your younger brother has come through his operation successfully and appears to be doing well, hope your other brother is doing ok too.
Good to read that you had a fine day out at Lynmouth @DEBSC even if there was a problem getting there. Hope you are able to find a seascape that appeals.
We too get emails about free electricity from our supplier EDF @Takethedogalong but we are generally away when it is in effect so don't really benefit much. The work on the old "new" Jeep sounds as if it is progressing nicely.
Please that all went well with you cottage stay this time @Wherenext and you all home safe and sound. It's good to be a kid again occasionally, I think most people are too staid these days to indulge in such antics. We too bad a bit of "fun" around M/C airport on our last trip with the caravan, nearly towing It into Terminal 2, but I just managed to change lanes in time!
It has been a gloriously sunny day, with virtually no wind, although one can feel that Autumn isn't far away. OH did a round of washing before we had a good walk through the Country Park, and it has dried by the time we got back to the caravan. There are a few less units on the site tonight, although a hired M/H has just this minute turned into the vacant pitch next to us, not quite as late as one last night which arrived around 10:30!😮

Given the Van a clean inside and repacked all of the items we had to take out to fit our cottage stuff in. We are away ourselves for a few nights on Sunday, not far from home. Did some food shopping for tonight and tomorrow.
Lovely sunny autumnal day out there. OH has had 3 lots of clothing on, 2 lots dry now third lot on the line. Might be off to our recycling centre in a moment if they are open. Have to check it first.

Very similar here as well today @Wherenext although it did cloud up later in the afternoon. Is it off WCP for your days away in the van, and to get the free night for later as a bonus?
We visited Bo'ness for a walk around the Kinneil Nature Reserve this morning before some necessary food shopping after lunch, and another walk for me back at the site. More hired M/Hs coming in late in the day before being dropped off tomorrow at Edinburgh airport tomorrow.

@nelliethehooker - it is WCP but the free bonus didn't come into the equation. We always try to get back there before it closes down for the winter but we have commitments towards the end of October and I have several medical appointments looming, first one tomorrow, but then none for a week or so, so I wanted to have a 3 week gap just in case anything untoward pops up in the appointments. We've managed to arrange cover for MiL.

As it was another glorious sunny and dry day I persuaded OH that a walk round Ferry Meadows would be a good idea. It was great to be out on such a lovely day.
Pleased to hear that you are safely home @Wherenext and that all went well with your trip.
Your outing to Lynmouth sounds a great success @DEBSC
I attach a few photos of Ferry Meadows today. I am just a 'point and shoot' with my phone type of photogragher 😁

Up fairly smartest this morning as my hospital appointment wasn't local but at Wrexham. Manic parking there as usual but fortunately some kind person pulled out in front of me and vacated a spot, but not for long.😀 My Iron deficiency reared its head again, not surprising to me at least, so I was topped up. I'm not quite doing a Tigger impression but do feel like I should try.
More appointments made. The Kidney Nurse was telling me that she can't get any priority to sort out her torn ligament in her knee and that one of the doctors has a similar situation, torn ligaments since July, proving at least that they have to join the queue like us.
Lovely sunny day here as well @milliehull, nice photos. Good to keep OH moving. MiL back out walking today whilst OH washed the floors in kitchen and bathrooms, hoovered, dusted and put some washing on. Should have brought home some extra Iron for her.

It has been another fine sunny day and quite warm when not in the shade. We visited Hoptoun House today, taking in the Sea Wall walk before lunch and the going round the house itself in the afternoon. The house is now really museum with many family paintings and lots of Dutch furnishings. The Musical Automaton Clock by Jan Henkel, on a beautiful marble inlay table caught my eye.
There are extensive views from the grounds and also from the house roof.
From the Sea Wall Walk and then the roof, with a cruise liner standing off in the Firth beyond the 3 Forth Bridges
The Entrance Gates
The front and the rear of the house itself

Sunny here today too.... Spent the start of the day taking an assembly at one of our Junior Schools - (a recruitment assembly for the church choir.. 🙂).... Then after waiting for a parcel to be delivered by 'Parcelforce' that didn't arrive on time (so I gave up!!), we went to the MIL's to take her shopping and for a coffee at Starbucks!! Then on to Brewood this evening for my regular Thursday night practice. Just got home to find a card through to door to say the parcel has been delivered to a neighbour mid-afternoon. Too late to collect tonight so a job for tomorrow morning!
Great photos, again @milliehull and @nelliethehooker - just catching up with everyone else's news too. Can't wait to get out in the caravan when we get to October - getting itchy feet!! 🤣🤣

@nelliethehooker great pictures again. Such lovely weather too. My sister lives on the opposite side of the Forth (Limekilns) and can almost see Hopetoun house from her lounge window, we must visit there again next time we’re up there, we haven’t been for years - Hopetoun not my sister’s!!!

We arrived on site late this afternoon only local but great to be away lovely sunny day although a bit chilly you can tell autumn is here. Site is very busy for this time of year. Got set up quickly and decided to cook dinner on the Cadac likely to be the last time this year using it. Plan for tomorrow is to meet up with family to go to the football although the weather is not looking promising.
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Grand photos again from yesterday @milliehull glad you had a nice day out.
@Wherenext have a good few days away at WCP I hope the rain forecast for this weekend has passed through before you get there.
@heddlo we are now over on your sister's side of the Forth but further around the coast near Glenrothes. We have yet to visit that part of the Fife coast.
Hope that it is not too bad for your footie tomorrow @Francis, enjoy the rest of your stay.
We moved over into Fife today to our first CC Site of the year, Balrnie, near Glenrothes. The site is only about half full, which surprises us as the site we have just left has been full or very nearly so during our midweek stay.
A couple of photos from my afternoon walk through the park adjacent to the site. Autumn has started to arrive here, and Balbirnie House, now a hotel.

Late yesterday I received an email from the club saying
"Congratulations! You've been promoted to Forum Participant"
Has anyone had similar and does anybody know what it means, as it means now't to me?🤔

I would have thought Club Member would be the category of choice for you, Nellie.
I’m a Forum Participant because I’m not a club member but I am Trusted.🤷🏻♂️

We have had a successful but tiring trip today, taking the caravan to Faskally Woods near Pitlochry for DD & Co to use.
We had planned to leave at 10.30 to arrive by 13.00, but a couple of last minute tasks meant it was 11.10 before we were on the road. Then we hit the traffic going to join the M8. It is a school holiday weekend here, it looked like the whole of Glasgow was out and about!
Once on the M80 we hit more delays due to an accident, and approaching Perth the traffic was at a standstill. Never seen anything like it, DD was there before us and had selected a good pitch, despite only leaving at 11.00. Just as well as by the time we arrived at 14.00, all the other pitches were occupied. Lunch was the priority, then we got the caravan levelled and secured, and were on our way home by 16.00.
Even more delays on the way home, queues at Perth again, and a half hour delay near Dunblane due to an accident. By the time we were nearing Stirling it was almost 18.00 and a comfort break and some food was required, so we headed into town and found both. Finally arrived home at 19.45.
We have to head back there on Monday to take over the van, so hope it will not be as bad. At least we do not have to travel home again as we are staying one night before heading to Edinburgh for 4 nights.
So we have 2 days to get organised with clothes and shopping etc, as well as making 2 visits to feed DD’s budgies.

@nelliethehooker when we had the caravan we stayed at Balbirnie a couple of times. The hotel was always our ‘go to’ place for big family get togethers and special dinners, both my nieces had their wedding receptions there too, so we know it well.
You will enjoy the Fife coast, we always enjoy Elie, Anstruther, and especially Crail as the most picturesque. Enjoy your trip.1 -
@nelliethehooker you are showing as Club Member to me😁 I was Forum Participant once we became non Members, and like Tinny, am Trusted. Not sure how you get Trusted, but there have been some dodgy interlopers since the new forum was set up!

@nelliethehooker I wouldn't worry about it as I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago. I seem to recall contacting @Rowena and it was amended. As Ttda says you are showing as Club member.
