Nice today day today. Gave the Cadac a clean and put it away this morning don’t think we will be using it again this year but you never know we keep in the van all the time so if we are away and get a nice winters day you never know. Great day at the football met up with family and had a good day not a bad game although it ended in a draw. Back at the van now absolutely pouring now and a lot of people must just have been on a stop over last night as the site is no where near as busy tonight as it was last night. Just having a night in the van tonight got a pizza in the oven and we will have a few drinks SWMBO is watching that dance show that’s on not my thing as you can probably tell.

@Tinwheeler up to receiving that email I was shown on CT as a Club Member, I did not request a change, and it is still showing up as such on here at the moment. I just wondered where it came from and why I was sent the email and if other members of CT had received a similar email.

@heddlo we know the Fife coast quite well, and I agree about the fine coastal village. Dysart is one we like visiting too, and walking through to Ravenscraig Castle. We were up at Crail earlier in the year, on a THS, and may be back again next year. In fact my father was brought up in Leven, and I still have relatives living in the area.

As it happens there was a wedding gathering outside the hotel this afternoon, which i came across during my late afternoon walk.

I've put our Cadac away too, @Francis. I'm hoping we still have some good weather to come, but with the evenings getting a little darker, and as we are unable to get out in the van for a couple of weeks, it seemed tbe right thing to do. I've also put our 'outside table and chairs' away. However, I still have chairs which I always keep in the back of the car for 'going out' and a tiny table enough to house a cup of tea and cake!! I reckon we'll be eating meals inside from now - our van is large enough, and I'm all for staying warm... 🤣🤣

@nelliethehooker nice photos that’s an area we haven’t really spent much time in we did stay at Balbirnie club site about 4 years ago but only for a few days nice place though

We are just home after a nice weekend at Strathclyde Park club site great day yesterday meeting up with family in Glasgow to go to the football together. Site emptied again this morning it had been raining overnight but nice and bright this morning so we got packed up in the dry. Easy hour tow home today not put the van in its space as we are planning on heading away again nearer the end of the week again will be just local but leaving the van on the drive saves us a job for when we head out again. Not much planned for the rest of the day.

@DSB we too have emptied the van of all our spring-summer things so sun canopy whirly gig etc are now away safe in the garage. Although we hope to get a few more trips away before Christmas we are hoping to get down to Blackpool for a few days in November as SWMBO wants to see the lights.

We will be in Aberdour next week, going for lunch with a school friend of OH, they live on the road that leads down to the Silver Sands. We like Fife too, in the 70s we lived for 5 years in Dalgety Bay, which is just along the road from Aberdour, while I was working in Edinburgh.

Lovely day here, big contrast to yesterday. The holidaymakers have the same weather in Pitlochry, lovely today but rain yesterday from about 4pm. This is the first time they have not had the awning with them for cooking and eating in, just hope our carpets and upholstery will survive unscathed!

We have all our stuff looked out for our trip, just to fill up the car now. First I have another trip to DD’s house to feed the budgies.

Such wonderful photos again @nelliethehooker What interesting and beautiful photos.

Glad you had a good weekend @Francis and enjoyed the football. We watched the women's rugby final. What a brilliant match and such a great result.

We started the day with rain today but it soon cleared up. We have done a bit more gardening this afternoon clearing some of the annuals from the pots ready to plant the bulbs. The geraniums are still going strong though. We also planted a new shrub that we bought yesterday - a Japonica Rubella - it is in a big pot next to the bay window in our front drive. Flu and covid jabs on Wednesday.

We must then have driven past your friend's house yesterday @KjellNN. Hope your trip goes well.

There are lots of interesting places to visit from the Balbirnie site, @Francis, but we do find the site itself rather dark although it is great for getting out with Flyte into the adjacent parkland.

Thanks @milliehull and @DSB, I just point, shoot and the edit a little before posting them.

Didn't set off too early today but ended up at Hoylake for a long walk along the front on the Wirral. Quite blowy which was just as well for there was an International Land Yacht racing competition taking place way out on the Sands. Too far to get to on foot over sand and creeks but there was an array for foreign vehicles parked roadside and many a Sand Yacht further out. Quite interesting even from a distance.

We eventually rolled into Wirral CP site. Still had time for a second stroll on the beach listening to the Autumn arrivals of Pink Footed Geese. They'll be here through Winter now.

I suppose with all this lovely weather we should be getting out and about more but I just keep thinking that I’ll do all the pre winter gardening jobs while it’s dry. Therefore I’ve spent a lot of time out there over the past week cutting back moving things around etc. I used to spend all day out there and get it finished but I now find that after a few hours I need short breaks, so it’s all taking much longer. Hydrangeas mostly cut back and some cuttings potted, hopefully some will grow for a space I have earmarked.
After OH saw the surgeon last week and she informed him that his walking will not get any better I’ve been nagging (yes I admit nagging) him to apply for a blue badge. Yesterday I finished filling in the form, he then copied the required documents and emailed it off last night. This morning they asked for any letters of proof, he then emailed them the surgeons letter. An hour later they confirmed that he is entitled to one once he had sent £10, he has now done so. Extremely impressed with the speed of it all. Especially when we thought they may say no. Now just need to see how long it takes to arrive. As someone else said on here recently, I feel I shouldn’t be pleased about him getting it, would much rather that he could get about like he used to but it will however make life so much easier and now hopefully we can get out more. Him not being able to walk from many car parks has been putting us off going out recently.

@DEBSC I suppose it comes to us all eventually. Glad that you got the Blue badge without any hassle, and hopefully it will help your trips out. I’m going a bit stir crazy here, 3 weeks after my hip replacement surgery and it’s going ok but not as well as my previous one unfortunately. The physio did say that perhaps I’d just forgotten from 3 years ago (a bit like having a baby where you forget the bad bits!) but it doesn’t seem as comfortable as the other one although it’s getting there - just rather slowly. The wound is also causing issues too which is another nuisance! He did say the old hip was very bad so maybe that isn’t helping. I would just love a short trip out somewhere that isn’t the hospital but as this hip is the right side it presses against the seat belt clip and is very painful. Sorry I really shouldn’t moan as I’m very lucky to get it done at all and I’m extremely grateful but just feeling a bit down at present. OH is also pretty exhausted, looking after me along with all the other house work, cooking etc, at least I’m starting to be able to help a bit now. Onward and upward as the saying goes! 🤷🏻‍♀️😄

Went for a long walk today to West Kirby from the site. We extended it to the tip of the west side of the Wirral coast. Had lunch then walked back. We had to stop whilst OH sorted a sock out and did so in a park where the entrance had a wooden plaque with a train being waved at by children on a bridge. The other side had the train driver waving back.

Quite sunny this morning but clouded over later on. Stayed dry though. Site less than half full.

Glad you got away ok @Wherenext and that you have managed to fit in some good walks already, fine photos too.

Sorry to hear that your progress is not as rapid as you hoped @heddlo, fingers crossed that you will notice an improvement soon and you are able to get out and about again.

Good news about your OH's Blue Badge, @DEBSC it will be great if the badge itself arrives as quickly as the rest of the process has been.

We move across country today to a, new to us, CS in your part of the world @Francis, just opposite the entrance to Culzean Castle. It was fine and sunny until got to the end of the M77 where we ran into some light rain, but thankfully it has stopped by the time we got to the site, so we were able to set up in the dry, and even got the van's front cover dried by late afternoon. I had a couple of walks with Flyte down into the first part of the Castle grounds before it got dark. The site looks out over fields and woods to the Fifth of Clyde with extensive views taking in Arran, the Mull of Kintyre, Ailsa Craig and on the far horizon the hills of Ireland.

Fairly good run back up to Pitlochry to take over caravan. We were going to take the scenic route as far as Stirling, but less than a mile from home we came upon traffic doing a U turn as the road was blocked by a rather crumpled car, so we turned back and took an alternative route. Traffic was fairly heavy but moving freely so we made good time over the 95 miles, 2.5 hours including a 3 mile detour to fill fuel at Sainsbury’s in Stirling and use their toilets.

Holiday makers were still in Pitlochry so we had a short wait till they returned with soup and rolls for lunch. Unloaded our food then made space for them to do their packing, they left at 15.30. Apparently the roads were very busy so it took them almost 3 hours to get home. Dad said they saw several broken down cars on the way, which did not help.

After unloading our clothes etc, we had a snooze before making dinner, another rest after dinner, and I have now made up the bed, which will soon be occupied!

We plan to leave here by 10 tomorrow so we are on site in Edinburgh before lunch time, our check in time is 12.00-13.00. Then food shopping and bread making later. Will go out somewhere on Wednesday, weather permitting, Thursday we have my friend coming for lunch, Friday we go to Aberdour for lunch.

@heddlo (had to have three goes to get it to go red!) - sorry to hear you're having problems and I hope you're soon on the mend and feeling better. Just a thought about the car - forgive me if you've already discounted this - but couldn't you sit in the back with the seat belt clip on the other side? At least you'd be able to get out and about. Take care, anyway.

@DEBSC - well done re the Blue Badge - mine was here in less than 10 days from it being approved. I'm intrigued about what you said about the consultant's letter leading to approval. As I said before - when I submitted mine on line - it was approved within a few seconds - indicating that, at least ERYC, must use some sort of computer algorithm to check applications. No one could possibly have read through it in that time. The only thing I can think of is that it was because I had included a copy of the consultant's letter and I wonder if that's the deciding factor since they're hardly likely to disagree with that.

Only problem I now have is that, because the average age of people in Hornsea is 70! (according to my GP - said in jest😀) - there's never any free disabled parking places - they're all legitimately occupied by others!!

@richardandros umm yes, we may well have the same parking problem in North Devon as the same demographics. But it will be very handy, especially when we are at the caravan, last time there we stayed on site a lot more than usual as OH had difficulty walking from many of the local car parks, it will be much easier from the disabled bays. I agree that the surgeons diagnosis letter to our GP helped. She made it clear that his condition would not get better and that it impinged on his quality of life as he couldn’t get out so much. There are a lot worse conditions to have but being able to get out of the house as one ages is good for the physical and mental health.
Having said that I love seeing everyone’s photos of places. Especially the ones from up North and Scotland of places that, living so far south, we are not now likely to visit.

Arrived on site at 12.02 after a trouble free run from Pitlochry, traffic mainly light, usual congestion on Edinburgh City Bypass. Mainly sunny, with a few spots of rain. After lunch we went along to Lidl for some bits and pieces, busy in the store as it was school coming out time.

OH had a weird phone call from an unknown mobile number, disembodied English voice saying the NHS needed her to confirm the name of her GP, press 1 for……she hung up.

@KjellNN Margaret is due for her second hip replacement on the 9th October and she received a text asking her to sign up for some website. Being naturally suspicious of unexpected texts and emails, we ignored it. We then had a phone call explaining that the App they wanted us to install was all about pre op exercises which the hospital can monitor remotely but initially there was no such explanaion and it didn't come via the NHS App! It is now up and running and thinking about it seems to be a good idea but I think the NHS has got to think how they communicate such things more carefully?

On a separate topic I went to the Eye Clinic today for what is called a Esterman Biocular Suprathreshold Test for peripheral vision. ( most of you will have had this test when you have an eye test, where you have to record little flashing lights?) It's the second such test I have had since I had my stroke. The good news is that it was much improved over the first test but still a bit short of what is required by the DVLA in order to get my licence back. I have a repeat test in November so hopefully if the improvement continues I may be OK?

Good to hear that you got to your site without any holdups @KjellNN which site are you stopping on?

Thanks for the suggestion to visit Maidens @Francis we will hopefully get there tomorrow if the weather holds.

Pleased to hear that your vision is improving, @DavidKlyne and that Margaret will get her hip operation soon. We're still waiting to hear about a date for Carol.... 😧

Managed to book Sandringham CAMC site today. Couldn't get a serviced pitch, so went for one of the new Premium pitches.
