@Wherenext gentleman shoppers can be just as bad! I once had a hissy fit with my OH in Edinburgh when he was still deliberating after 90 minutes over two pairs of shoes. Granted it was a once in a decade occurrence but I’d had enough. I’m a “that’s nice, try it on, that will do nicely” shopper. Now if it’s a rope of pearls, or some other stuff to make jewellery with, then yes, hours are required🤔🤭🤩 I do bead fairs and rock and gem shows alone now, while OH disappears for a walk or bike ride.

Weather is set to be very hot tomorrow, so not sure how long I will last in the shrug. Sis had made me an evening type small handbag from same velvet yesterday as well🤩 She’s the crafter heir to all Mum’s skills, Mum looks on while she makes, in between naps.

Arrived home safely on Thursday afternoon. A fairly uneventful journey (thank goodness!) apart from strong winds. As we approached the Ouse Bridge, there was a strong wind warning and I wasn't looking forward to being on the exposed bit when we got to the top. As it turned out - there was nothing - in fact it was the quietest part of the trip!

Spent yesterday cleaning the inside of the van - just need to tackle the outside - but only when it's cooled down a bit. It was 24 degrees here at 9 am when I took Meg out to the park - didn't stay long - she was obviously too hot. However, she's at the groomers this afternoon, she looks a bit like a woolly sheep at the moment - so I'm sure she'll be pleased to be relieved of some of that fur😀

It's warm here today, but a little breezy (a warm breeze). Had a lovely U3A choir picnic yesterday - our last meeting before our summer break. Just sitting in the car (with wide open windows) whilst Carol has gone for a look around Sainsbury's. Mind you, I've already been around Sainsburys at about 7.30am this morning for my 25% off 6 bottles of wine offer!!!

Our daughter has just introduced me to the JamDoughnut moneysaving app... I'll try and post about it elsewhere, should anyone else be interested.... a bit of a faff, but it works...

....here goes..... this is how I saved £40 today… 🤣🤣

We seem to be missing the heat that the some of you are having. It's warm outside but mostly cloudy with a strong gusty wind. Still it is dry.

Haven't had much time to ourselves of late so we went for a walk this morning to iron out the stiffness. Felt better for it. Decided to take the Strimmer to the overgrowing hedges and Holly bush, got all set up only to find the battery was flat. Looks like tomorrows job now.

@Takethedogalong - Hope you both enjoy your day at the wedding tomorrow.

We headed off to the Caravan as OH said that I wouldn’t rest at home, probably true. The plan was not to go far, just to sit and relax. On the first day we went into Stratford and I visited the Oxfam charity bookshop and purchased a couple of books, then to Waterstones as I wanted to get the latest Barbara Erskine paperback, it was buy one get one half price, so an extra book purchased. That’s 4, so I was well set up for the relaxing time. Then we heard the weather forecast as it started to get hotter. 29 here today and 33 or more for Monday and Tuesday. OH hates the heat, he just can’t cope, I don’t usually mind it but my upper body is covered in a nasty rash after the radiotherapy, (I was doing so well as I’ve looked after my skin very well throughout) and the heat isn’t helping. As we planned to go home on Wednesday anyway we have now changed our plans and we are heading back home again tomorrow. We are struggling to find any shade at all here and the caravan is very hot without it. We have a shady house and garden, not good in the winter but perfect in this weather, we find we are also missing our fresh sea breeze. Best laid plans and all that. Our Son and grandson visited us yesterday for the day and we did have a nice bbq and a lovely day. Not too long and we will be back for our main summer break here, so just a hiccup really. I hope everyone can stay cool, and where it’s not so hot just enjoy the sunny weather. Hope those having health appointments that they go well, and that those away enjoy their trips.

@Takethedogalong great outfit and I think you might be a bit warm in the shrug but lovely that your sister made it and enjoy your day tomorrow and not too hot for you both.

Understand @DEBSC re your home trip back as much cooler at home not so in a metal box safe trip and take care.

Very hot today upto 34C now and Monday and Tuesday might be hotter and OH taking his car in for a service in Villefranche so that will be fun as I will driving the Landcruiser behind him we did a trip last week to see where garage was and boy a very steep hill and awful bend in my little car phew hence the bigger car and a automatic it is worse than Fish hill near Broadway Worcestershire plus the one road to get to mainroad from the town is closed at present major waterworks hence part of route through the town but will come back a different route will also do a bit of shopping there as well.

Will have a busy medical appointments when we come back from UK later on OH has doctors appointment then Cardiology check and eye check all in two weeks will need another holiday ha ha.

Take care in this heat folks and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I walked down to the river earlier, lots of families there and paddleboarders. A Dad and two girls about 10 or 11 walking towards the river with a paddle board. The girls, both wearing life jackets asked if they could run ahead a little, given the nod they both dashed down to the riverbank and no hesitation they just jumped in. Yes I was just a little envious, but I can’t swim. So good to see all the kids having fun. All watched over by their parents and staying close to the bank. Then one young one shouted loudly ‘Mum, I need a wee, can I do it in the river’. I didn’t hear her response. 😆

It’s 28c here today🥵 I won’t be in the shrug for too long tomorrow as it’s supposed to be 30c+ tomorrow🤣 Church will be cool at least, but I think it might be flip flops and a paddle in the lake in the afternoon. At least I have a very posh sun hat 🤣

I keep thinking I must get a new sun hat @Takethedogalong. The one I keep in the car, I've had for years. Carol keeps threatening to throw it away... 😀😀

@DSB OH uses a Tilly Hat. He has had it years, bought in Cornwall, still like new. As a young firefighter, his ears were badly burned in the days before they used the more modern helmets, so he has to protect his ears from fierce sun. My hat’s a bit more ornate🤭with feathers!

@Takethedogalong ..... Mine is one of those hats with a peek (a baseball cap?), which some kids think is 'fashionable' to wear backwards. I've threatened to wear mine backwards but when suggested, I have had some adverse/ disapproving comments... 🤣🤣🤣

It has been relatively cooler over this side of the country with a maximum temperature of 22C, and although it has been cloudy it was dry until about an hour ago and the rain has since got steadily heavier. We are now away again, this time on a North East Lancs DA rally at Gargrave, where there are 60+ units on site, including a group from the NW Area Folk Dance and Song Group, who are active in the marquee at the moment.

Very warm day here. Our outside thermometer said 30 degrees for much of the day. I hung some washing out this morning and half an hour later it was dry! I did a bit of cutting back and tidying in the garden but gave up as it was just too hot. I have done a lot of watering this evening but really just the pots as I cant water everything.

I dont 'do' sunhats although I know I should. OH has a baseball cap but prefers his straw panama hat.

Good call @DEBSC. A caravan can be terribly hot in this weather. Much better to be in your cool and shady house and garden.

Enjoy your latest trip @nelliethehooker. I look forward to your photos.

@nelliethehooker that was a quick turnaround 😁 Yes, it’s hot over here. We visited some friends this afternoon, and after a quick look around garden, we retreated to the cool indoors. Great to see them, we do dog sitting duties for each other, so we know our pooch is ok tomorrow, and we reciprocate in August while they have a wedding. Watched the intricacies of home dialysis going on, absolutely mind blowing how things all work.

I have just come in from an hour in garden, Cool enough to be out there now.

Don't know how you manage to do it @nelliethehooker - you two (three!) are always on the go!! Enjoy your latest trip.

Was so hot here yesterday - 30 degrees when I took Meg to the groomers. Had her clipped a bit shorter than normal this time and I'm sure she's feeling a bit more comfortable. Here I am at silly o'clock this morning - I'm usually up early but this morning it's already too hot to sleep and it's not yet 5 am!

Forgot to mention that when we got home on Thursday - I went into the back garden and noticed that the lawn mower fairy had been. Our lovely neighbours with the two little boys - who had been feeding the fish while we were away - had seen that our lawn badly needed mowing and had set to and done it for us the day before we got back - thinking that that would be the last thing I wanted to tackle when we got back. Just goes to show that there are some kind and thoughtful people in this world, after all😀.

Well it is warming up here 21C outside and it was only 7.30am here whilst doing the watering all done OH will do one raised bed for me after breakfast.

I have 2 older sunhats with brims and 1 National Trust blue hat I have had for years when we go out also a couple of other sunhats you do need them here as just too hot, always wore one when I did gardening with people with learning difficulties for 8 years and most of them had their own but we did keep some spare baseball caps with the extra flap to keep neck covered and OH has various hats 1 even for when mowing with the ride on mower with a brim and he keeps his arms covered as well.

Good to have neighbours to mow your lawn @richardandros.

Already had a lot of cars going up and down the road so there must be a boot sale or something else for folk to be about early on a Sunday.

Well, good intentions etc. I was going to do some strimming today but decided to pour hot oil over a couple of fingers last night instead when serving dinner. Nothing too serious but Nurse Wherenext has fixed me up and told me to keep the bandage clean, or else! Had to shower with a plastic glove on this morning but it didn't, fortunately, need a hospital visit.

As a result of that we've had a quiet day. It was mizzling when we got up but by the time the first lot of clothes washing had finished it had stopped. Not much sun today but it is warm outside.

(Predictive text can be mind boggling sometimes. It changed Mizzling to Sizzling! Not too far off polar opposites🤣)

Home now, stopped off on the way at Evesham outlet centre as needed to pick something up from the Garden Centre, and not a plant this time. We had lunch while we were there, it wasn’t too busy. Glad that we were going south on the M5 because north bound was gridlocked from Bridgwater to Bristol, it looked like one long car park, barely moving all that way. A nasty car fire on the north bound side, police there but the fire engine hadn’t arrived. It appeared mother and baby had got out safely, must have been very frightening for the poor woman. Washing to sort out now, might leave doing it until tomorrow.
Hope that your hand heals soon @Wherenext that sounds painful.

Lovely few days away in Norfolk, been reading but not posting

Went for R&R, and managed some 😀. So sorry @milliehull didn't explore at all, but can recommend The Rose and Crown at Snettisham for food. Nice pub generally

BBuilding Work finished whilst we were away, so in today's humid conditions I've been wiping down freezer/units/work surfaces - slowly! And rehousing the contents tgat belong in that room. Not necessarily in their forever home, but hopefully almost.

Yesterday was a truly beautiful summers day here, if more than a tad hot! Clear skies and nice warm breeze splashing dried well. We had lunch/dinner on the way home so just pottered once home. We sat out until 2200, first time this year.

JJust Had a flying huge ant land on me! Not surprised with the humidity.

I'm finding that it isn't so easy to type today, I have been getting that verify screen and been blocked twice! Could it be to do with that? I'm having to be slower and firmer on the touch keyboard.

@Takethedogalong how long did you wear your shrug? 🤔🤣. Your whole outfit looked lovely. A talented family.

Oh i can see some blue sky, I just looked up to see the screeching swifts. We seem to have lots more this year. Mind you we have PLENTY of those pesky thunder flies today. The humidity seems to be lifting slightly 🤞.

Right I must go and move the hosepipe, its on the veg at the mo. OH has had to run the mower over the lawn, lots of high wispy bits amid the parched stuff. Only done tha back 2 front areas will be another say. Far too hot for him!

Keep getting that screen again when I press the commercial at sign, so posting before all.is lost.

Wherenext hope your fingers heal OK.

So glad you had a good break in Norfolk @Bakers2 . Ours is also going to be for some R&R (hopefully). We had enough 'activity' on our holiday with the family in Devon - so I was just looking for some ideas for nice places for a coffee or a cup of tea that we might not have visited. We love The Rose and Crown at Snettisham so might well pop in there.

I have been doing battle with ants this afternoon both crawling and flying. I am not sure I have won yet so I am keeping a close watch. It has been quite cloudy and humid most of the day but the sun came out late afternoon and it is now a beautiful summer evening.

Hope your fingers are not too painful @Wherenext and heal up quickly. Just do what nurse @Wherenext tells you.

It has been very warm here today, so we only did a relatively short walk along by the canal this morning and I did a longer one during the afternoon as OH and Flyte feel the heat much more than I do. Am sat outside listening to the singing from the members of the Folk Group. Lots of soloists and duets.

    20250629_193629.jpg

I have not posted a photo of a chuch for a while so here is St Andrews Church, built in 1542 to replace the medieval church.

    20250629_152039.jpg

There has been a gradual departure of units from the site today and there are now less than 30 left.

@milliehull there's a cafe in Snettisham, I think it was called the stores or the old stores. Literally 2 minutes walk from the house we stayed in. Didn't get to check it out - open 9 or 10 til 3. Everything we looked it was busy and folk queuing. It's on the Lynn Road by the traffic lights control pedestrian crossing. There's also a Michelin star restaurant in The Bank, taster £65 person person plus £72 for accompanying wines 🤣. We didn't.

We had a lunch at Sandringham, was lovely but car park was £7 for 2 hours!

We also had a lunch at the beachside cafe opposite the Lifeboat in Old Hunstaton.

Thaxters at Dessingham has coffee shop and garden centre recommended by @Wherenext , missed it this time. There's the Lavender Fields at Heacham, didn't use them this visit either 🤣

    Not sure if it helps.

We hosted a concert at the Abbey this afternoon with tbe Lichfield Sinfonia. A lovely afternoon - one of our choir members and two of our instrumentalist were playing in the orchestra. How surprised I was to find one of my former pupils and the clerk to the governors from a school I taught in in the late 80's, also playing in the orchestra. Even more surprised to find that this former pupil was now 60 years old....!!!

Seeing the red Mini reminded me of our Minis. When I first started "going out" with my

husband in 1966 he had a grey Mini Van. By 1968/9 it was changed to a red Mini. Eventually we had to move away from Minis (to make way for a pram), But by about 1992 we were a 2 Mini family. Alas no Minis now.

Thank you @Bakers2. Some to bear in mind. Think we will give the Michelin star restaurant a miss though. Goodness the parking charges at Sandringham have gone up since we were last there!

It looks like being a hot one today.

We had a red mini when we were first married and then I had a white one many years later. I tend to forget how small they were. Daughter has a Mini Countryman now. A different beast entirely.

phew it is so hot here🥵 our hive thermostat is currently showing 28.5 inside our shaded, fans on, breeze blowing through house. Outside in the sun is unbearable, I braved it to water some wilting plants, and to test our pool. We shall be in there later, but it’s not cool, more tepid.

Thank goodness our wedding wasn’t today. It was hot yesterday, but not like this. I had my shrug on through Church, we had roof off of car, so it wasn’t a problem travelling and in Church, but everyone was shedding layers, and ditching posh shoes by the time we got to the reception venue. My hat was a godsend, kept the sun off unlike the wilting fascinators most had opted to wear. It all went very well, a few minor funny glitches that just add to the fun, and it was a lovely if very long day. OH and his brothers all popped out to check out dogs at various points in the day, as it was way too hot to take him with us. Interesting old venue, with a lot of history, and the food was very nice. I found a nice shady quiet spot in the rose garden to enjoy a drink and send a few photos.

Hodsock Priory. It’s never actually been a Priory, but in places it’s very old. The Estate dates from 12thC, the old gatehouse (left hand building in photo) is supposed to have been built for a visit by Henry VIII when he bestowed a knighthood on then owner. The Estate used to hold Snowdrop Walks each year, but it’s mainly weddings now, with accommodation.
