This is the last night of our current trip. A short analysis of it:-

We were away for 57 nights, stopping at 13 different locations; 4 C&CC sites, 4 THSs, 3 CLs, 1 CS and 1 Commercial site. All bar the THSs were on pitches with EHU, and the site fees worked out at £17:80 per night, which by a sheer coincidence was the same as our previous 43 night trip to East Anglia, & by the time we get home we will have travel nearly 1550mls.

Hiya @nelliethehooker . Yes, C&CC site. Well, after the cold, wind and rain during our time in Scotland, we now have glorious sunshine and my goodness, it’s hot. I don’t like to complain, but it seems like one extreme to another.

One of my favourite views, featuring Catbells…

We’ve visited Keswick several times over the years, but I never knew this park existed…

Off to Kendal tomorrow, not too far away.

I’m sorry to hear about your sister @KjellNN , my condolences.

@KjellNN my condolences. I hope that everything goes as well as it can today.
@Wherenext sorry to hear of MILs fall, hope that she is getting over it and that it didn’t spoil her holiday too much.
@Freddy55 Ahh my favourite place too, the view of Catbells, I believe that Beatrice Potter had those hills in mind when she wrote Mrs Tiggywinkle. I just love standing on that shore and taking in those views, we can’t get there this year so thank you for the photos. We also like the park, the little cafe in the corner is a good pit stop. Did you manage to be good and avoid the excellent chocolate shop in the town, we seem to always come out with something, however good our intentions.

Back home now. Hospital letters dropped at the dentist, dog collected - she'd been with son and family overnight as builder is in at ours - progress is good.

Interesting to watch the children on sports day, warm but not sunny here with a very slight breeze.

    LLovely Photosfolks.

Safe travelling @Wherenext I hope your MIL is now over her fall.

Friday again @DEBSC another week done!

YYoungest Grandson began to move this morning. Not sure if he'll go forwards or backwards 🤣..a lovely but sad moment 😢. Peace, if it existed 😉, over now. Need to check location of all my eyes 🤣

Yes @Bakers2 not just another week done, 4 weeks of radiotherapy and all that travelling now finished. The staff were really great but I’m glad that it’s over. Rather sore and trying to stay out of the sun, as even with clothes covering my skin I can certainly feel the sun on the sore bits. Now it’s down to me, good diet, which I did have before, and exercise and rest. I was going for a good walk today but it’s just too hot. I did do a specific exercise class on u tube though and will do more walking in the future. Not so sure about the rest, I get bored, unless I’ve got a really good book, but don’t tell my family or I’ll get nagged even worse to rest.

Wow @DEBSC I'd lost count. Brilliant. Do try to find the right balance of doing and resting. You have my sympathies as I can't sit for long. I used to read for hours, holding and reading a book whilst cooking dinner 🤣. But since OH had his 'big turn', I read lots then sitting by his bed, and my cataract op I can't settle to actual books, just article type reading.

We have a decent breeze now and the sun has broken through. Sports day and picnic lunch over before it began to get hotter. I was going to potter deadheading but that's far to energetic in this heat!

Such good news @DEBSC !! All over and done with. Now you can get on with your recovery. Do take notice of the rest instruction 😁.

Not so sunny today but still very humid. I will be glad when it cools down a bit as I have lots I want to do but it is just too hot and I have no energy. Grand-daughter popped round after school yesterday with gt grandson. At nearly 7 months pregnant she is struggling with the heat bless her. They had OFSTED this week and she was the one being observed which she could have done without! Four and a half weeks before she breaks up from school and starts her maternity leave. We did a supermarket shop before it got too hot and now OH is watching the tennis from Queens on the TV.

Well done @DEBSC - all behind you now and here's wishing you a full recovery. Ros was saying today, that she was still very tired for ages after the radiotherapy stopped - so don't try to push yourself too hard.

Been so hot today - so much so that all we have done is hide from the sun and stayed on site. Can't believe that when we lived in the Med, we had this virtually every day during the summer months and didn't bat an eyelid about it. Think it must be an age thing, but I know find I have great difficulty coping with these temperatures.

Hot here too, cloudy this morning, then suddenly the sun came out and so did the heat. We planned to go to the caravan OHs idea was that if I was away from the garden and the house there was nothing for me to do. But it’s just too hot, and let’s face it our caravan is basically a tin box in a field with no shade. So we have put it off for a bit. I think that you are right @richardandros it is an age thing, I used to love the heat. Our daughter and family are moving next week so OH has said he will help by putting some of the smaller boxes in his car, as they are moving themselves. She has said definitely no help from us but he is adamant. And I’m sure that I can find bits and bobs to do to help, despite her saying no way. I hope it isn’t this hot then. I remember us moving once, over 40 years ago, we had little money then so we were moving ourselves. It was the hottest weekend and then we realised the van we had hired had a perspect roof! That weekend takes some forgetting. But I’m sure
we will get away soon to the caravan for that rest.

Arrived at our cottage in Wasdale just a short walk from Wastwater. It's on a lovely farm and while it's hot outside it's very cool inside.

This is the view from the car and hopefully tomorrow's objective of

    IMG20250620174435.jpg

Whinn Rigg better known as Wastwater Screes. I love it when you can do walks from the door. Having a refreshing drink outside being watched by the two farmyard cats and three chickens.

@DEBSC - Bakers wasn't the only one that had lost count. Are you really sure it's 4 weeks? Not kidding yourself are you?😄 I'm sure you'll keep up with the necessary rehab work.

Everyone saying it's too hot to do much. Same here for the last 2 days after MiLs fall. She's 92 and falls play on the confidence as much as the physical pain so at least we could use the excuse of the heat to just lounge and recover. She's still furious with herself but ultimately very lucky.

We had a fairly good trip home, leaving earlyish but allowing any rush hour traffic to dissipate first. The Motorways were busy but moving and we stopped for a comfort break about halfway at Battlefield on the edge of Shrewsbury. There's an excellent cafe and farm shop as well as being the site of Battle between Henry IV and Percy "Hotspur" that decided the King of England in 1403. Good little museum and the church on site was built straight after the battle to commemorate the fallen on both sides.

We were home by 12.30 for lunch. Glad as well as it got quite hot in the afternoon.

Hiya @DEBSC . Yes, I managed to steer clear of the chocolate shop. I don’t know about you, but I find I can’t just a bit of chocolate, it’s just so moreish. For that reason, I very rarely buy it. BTW, good to hear that the treatment has been completed, must have been quite an ordeal.

Moved to Kendal C&CC site today, via M6/A6, a nice drive surrounded by spectacular scenery. The site is only small, but perfectly formed, highly recommended. The motor mover started playing silly buggers, so I took off one of the covers, and a bolt fell out. All sorted now, thanks to the site staff who leant me a ratchet/ socket. Tomorrow it’s into Kendal itself to have a look around. I hear there’s a bakers that sell rather nice pasties😋

crikey has it been hot here today🥵🥵🥵 only thing I managed to get done was drop OH off for his pre wedding haircut, while I dropped some jewellery off for my SIL to go with her outfit. Had a cuppa and an hour with two BILs, then home for lunch. Too hot to do anything other than try to keep our pooch cool. Poor old lad was struggling with heat, so we gave him a cool off with watering can, stuck him on his cool mat with OHs big cycling fan wafting over him and that seemed to settle him. It settled me as well, I woke up two hours later on sofa🤭🤭 OH took to the pool, but even that was warm. Going to be even warmer tomorrow apparently. Sis got Mum comfy, big fan, plenty of drinks, lots of windows, doors open. @Wherenext sorry your holiday has been a bit subdued, but thankfully no major injuries. The cafe at Shrewsbury Battlefield wasn’t there last we visited, but that’s a long time ago now. Such a famous battle, Hotspur, Prince Hal, etc……..

Your treatment period has whizzed by @DEBSC although I don’t suppose it has for you, but good that you are through that now. Some lovely photos from others again. Bring on a great big storm, we are desperate for rain here, and for things to cool down. I have just ordered some new slippers cum lounging around shoes from Vionics, hoping that they will suit and that I won’t need my insoles. Sliders with a twist. Not cheap but bagged a pair half price in sale, providing they fit ok.

@DEBSC I'm really pleased for you that you're now at the end of your treatment; you must be so relieved that it's over and done with, after all the planning around travelling there and back. Time to put your feet up and do the exercises etc prescribed. All the best.

@Wherenext very sorry to read about MiL's fall; how frustrating for her after doing so well and enjoying herself getting around, from the photos she looked to be in her element getting around, best wishes for her recovery.

@Kjelln (won't go red after many attempts 😔) condolences on your sister's passing, I hope all went as planned today. All the more upsetting as it was unexpected.

@DavidKlyne it sounds like you're doing very well, but I imagine it must be very frustrating at times when things don't go the way you want them to. Please keep posting as and when you feel able, a lot of us here want to know how you're getting on.

@nelliethehooker and @Freddy55 thanks for posting those lovely photos, really enjoy seeing them.

We're currently in France, in the Green Venice, it's been so hot, 36C today, with a forecast of 37C tomorrow 🥵 when we bought this MH it had aircon, which we've hardly used - until now! I've always thought they were a bit OTT, but as the van already had it when we bought it, we have used it very, and I mean very, occasionally. So glad of it now though, but very conscious of how noisy it may be for any neighbours, although it's supposed to be one of the quieter ones. Luckily no neighbours on either pitch nextdoor so no problem 👍

@InaD , I’d never heard of Green Venice, until you mentioned it. A quick google search reveals all. It looks really nice and I’m quite envious. Not sure I envy the temperature, at 36c, I’m struggling with 27c here. Enjoy your stay 👍

A very warm day here in N. Warks/ S. Staffs. - very humid. Not the sort of day suited for a long U3A Choir practice this afternoon (in prep for our concert tomorrow night) and this evening Abbey Choir practice... but needs must! I'm absolutely whacked now - time to open a bottle of wine, methinks!! 😀😀 Still rsading all the posts - apologies for a less than detailed reply.....

Good to hear that you got home safely @Wherenext and guess you cut across country to get there, so missing the huge snarl-ups caused by the vehicle fire in the Conway tunnel. All the best for tomorrow 😉😉

Glad to read that you have completed your treatment @DEBSC I am sure you are relieved that you haven't another week of it especially having to travel in these temperatures.

@InaD that was the a shrewd choice, selecting a M/H with air con considering just how warm it is over there. Enjoy your time in France.

Fine photos, and hope you find that bakers. It is a fair walk into town from the site, especially if your about is causing you problems. Enjoy your stay there. @Freddy55

We are now home, and van awaits it clean, but that won't be until after its service on Tuesday. We had a hot and rather slow journey back because of delayed roadworks, but OH managed to get 5 rounds of washing done and dried outside this afternoon. My goodness it has been hot, but thankfully cooling down now. Flyte couldn't settle in the house so spent much of the afternoon in the shade on the cool patio floor. It would have been good to say Hi, @Freddy55 but we have just missed each other.

    GGoing To be a scorcher!

Forgot to post this yesterday. Spotted at the hospital, didn't spot another on my journeys through the corridors I travelled. Only this one toilet door - presume it was the only outward onto the corridor one?? Made me chuckle 🫣

@Francis - here's another one for you (and anyone else who wants to have a go!)

    Where are we?

    IMG_2555.jpeg IMG_2557.jpeg

It's another of our little gems and I admit it's a bit of an obscure location - getting here is not for the faint-hearted, though (and certainly not with a caravan in tow!). The road is so narrow that, on occasions, both door mirrors are brushing the hedges - plus lots of tight hairpin bends and very hilly.

Came back to the van about an hour ago and it is SO hot, it's unbearable. Tomorrow promises to be a bit cooler (I hope!)

@InaD - You managed to send me down memory lane.😁 Back in 2009 we couldn't take our normal 6-8 weeks touring France, "only" having 2 weeks so we decided to drop anchor in Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) and explore somewhere we hadn't been to before. I've just read our diary from those 2 weeks, staying at the municipal at St.Briac-sur-Mer, and really enjoyed cycling around the canals and countryside with a visit to Ile-de-Re. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

You're doing really well when you consider where you were a few months ago waiting for appointments to see Specialists never mind operation.

Thank you for all the kind thoughts, yesterday was very emotional, but went well. The church was beautifully decorated, so many lovely flowers, and there was a huge crowd of relatives and friends, many I had not seen for several years. The weather was kind, the rain staying off until just after the service. Afterwards many of us went to my sister’s house, where my 2 nieces had organised a light meal followed by coffee and cake, and lots of reminiscing.

The house is to be sold eventually, probably in the autumn, but there will be a lot for the girls to deal with first as all the contents will need to be dealt with and the garden kept tidy. Fortunately they both have husbands and strong adult children to help. They asked me to adjust the garage door as it kept opening again (it is an electrically operated door) , and to take the car back with us to use while we are here, which we have done.

They also wanted us to come and stay in the house while we are here, at present we are staying with my oldest nephew who now stays in “my old house” . We will discuss that with our daughter as she and the boys arrive here on Wednesday for 8 days, we could spend some time there and the rest here. The old house is large, with 6 bedrooms, but, at present , only one bathroom, so that could be a good idea.

Welcome!
