I'm glad the service went well and the church was beautifully decorated. It's always a very emotional.day, regardless, but the up side is seeing folk you've not seen for ages and exchanging reminisces. Somehow it's always better if it's not raining. 💙

SStill 31c here so wouldn't have done your walk @Cornersteady . We did have a few spots of rain that evaporated before they hit the ground. Local.weather radar showed rain all around us, but not on us.

Done more than I'd have liked, but we're going away Monday 🤞so trying to sort. Builders will still be here... Got 4 loads of washing dry almost before I'd got it on the line 🤣, we've had a breeze all day buy it's made little difference 🥵🥵🥵. I even ironed OH's shirts - this heat is too much for him, and I didn't want to come back to them. As I'll have the utility room to organise. Stuff in cupboards 😀 and a sink 😉.

Good to hear the service went well @KjellNN. Always such an emotional day but good to see relatives and friends and share happy memories.

We have had a lovely afternoon. OH's cousin and her husband (much younger than us as there was an 18 year age gap between her father and OH's father) are in Peterborough this weekend for The Sixteen Choral Pilgrimage at the Cathedral and treated us to afternoon tea at The Bull Hotel for OH's birthday which is on Monday. So lovely to catch up with them as we hadn't seen them since her Mother's funeral 2 years ago. On the plus side the hotel had air conditioning! It is so hot and humid here. It is going to be a very uncomfortable night for sleeping.

Great photos @Cornersteady . Our grand-daughter has been in that area doing her gold DofE this past week. All done and dusted now. They have had a day of relaxation in Keswick today followed by a nice evening meal and then catch the ferry back to N. Ireland tomorrow.

Good to hear of peoples day out. Not sure whether " Glad the funeral went well" is appropriate or not but hope you get my drift @KjellNN. Grand day for a hike @Cornersteady and lovely photos (how could they not be?).

Been a fairly quiet day here, apart from it being the day I reached my 3 score years and 10. Funny how the cards all mentioned the number, as if once I reached it I wouldn't remember how many years it was.😂 OH promised to keep them to remind me during the course of the next year. She's a star. We were lying on the bed this morning when I opened the one from MiL. We collapsed in hysterics, tears streaming down our face as I tried to understand the meaning of it. Let's face it, she goes to craft classes making cards, she has a room full of said materials yet I lay there looking at a photo of an Orangutan!!! The mind works in mysterious ways.🤣🤣 At that moment I literally could have swung for her.😂

It's been humid here as well. I think the clouds didn't rain so much as perspire.

@Wherenext I'm pleased to have taken you down memory lane ☺️ I keep records too of where we've been and where we cycled, makes interesting reading in later years, and jogs the memory! We've been to the Marais Poitevin about 4 or 5 times now, so you can take it we like it here 😀 we're at the municipal site at Maillezais, our 3rd time here. Love the cycling here, although yesterday and today it's been 36/37C, so we haven't been as far as we'd have liked. Today wasn't too bad, as it was overcast a lot of the time and much of the route was under trees 👍

I'm not sure I've heard of St Briac sur Mer in this area; sur Mer implies by the sea, and most of this area isn't that close to the sea.

Yes, thank you, I feel very lucky in actually being here so soon after my hip operation, it's now just over 11 weeks ago and at the time I wasn't at all sure we'd be able to go on the day we'd booked.

I hope MiL continues to improve, as you say, it's not just the physical aspect, but also the fact that the confidence gets a setback, which is sometimes worse. All the best to her.

@InaD - My apologies, that was the site we stopped at before getting the ferry home. I should have proof read the post first. The site was the municipal at Marans. I don't know whether its still going as a lot of municipals have closed down or been sold off.

Pleased to read that the weather was favourable for your walk @Cornersteady and grand photos.

The day sounded as if it went as well as could be expected @KjellNN and it must have been pleasant to meet up relatives that you have not seen for some time.

@milliehull your granddaughter is to be congratulated on her DoE expedition, as should all of her companions. They have been fortunate with the weather, or at least missing the thunderstorms that sound as if they have arrived, even if temperatures have been in the upper 20's. It sounds as if you and your OHbhave had a lovely day out with your his cousin and her husband.

We had an uncomfortable night trying to sleep last night, so I was up very early, for us at least, and I had taken Flyte out for his first walk and washed the car before our normal breakfast time. Somehow I still seemed to short of time during the day to get much done, what with dodging the occasional shower and taking Flyte on numerous short walks, before heading down to see the "motor( bike)cade". It looks as if it will be a wet final walk for me soon!😫

Well, another hot and sultry day here. We did pop into Kendal, but it soon started raining. We found the bakers that supposedly had great pasties @nelliethehooker , but had run out. I was quite impressed by the central clock (tower), not your regular Westminster chime, but a full on tune. Maybe we can meet up at some time in the future👍 We move on (down) to Clent Hills C&CC site tomorrow. It’s currently hammering down, quite refreshing. This evening we had our ‘last supper’ with the two other couples we have toured with on our current trip, over 3 weeks. They will be going back home, quite a distance. As an aside, there was a chap opposite singing and playing guitar this evening, he was very good, I do like an unexpected event 🙂

@KjellNN , it was obviously a sad event, but it’s good that families can get together and reunite, very important. (I hope I haven’t said the wrong thing/been misunderstood).

@Wherenext A belated happy birthday from over here.

Great photos folks, well it was 39C here yesterday and 29C inside when we went bed yuck just too hot ceiling fan and another which gives out a fine mist of water but did manage to sleep and now windows open much cooler and some light rain so pleasant to go outside after yesterday, I think the only things that enjoyed the heat was the clouds of butterflies around some of my shrubs best I have seen for years.

@Wherenext happy birthday SWMBO hit the same number last month. @richardandros I know where that is been many times and you are right the road down there is very narrow in places had bushes rubbing along the side of the car the last time we went down there

Hallelujah! We have rain, although not much. But it’s dropped the temps right down. It was 28.5c in the house yesterday when I got back from Mum’s, that’s with all windows, doors open some curtains shading warm rooms and a couple of fans going🥵 24.5c at bedtime, so a bit better. Hoping it’s filling water butts up.

Happy Birthday for yesterday @Wherenext - hope you had a great day. And there was I thinking that my last destination was fairly obscure @Francis - for those that don't know it - it's Beesands, near Start Point.

Dramatic change in the weather here, after yesterday. It's actually quite chilly, overcast and quite a noticeable breeze.

Belated birthday wishes 🎂🎉 @Wherenext it's great to think someone you share your life with, MIL, can still surprise you. 🤣

@Takethedogalong soooooo jealous that you had actual rain... Silly hot here even at bedtime 26c. All curtains closed all day and windows opened on the non sunny side, more work 😉. Breeze got up and the curtains rustling woke me. Checked to see if it was rain 😢. One almighty clap of thunder but still nothing. Much more pleasant temperature today but very stiff breeze so adding to the drying effect!

@richardandros - I recognised it as we had a cottage holiday there, up in the hill, one year many moons ago. Awful cottage, no wonder we bought a caravan. We were down that way about 3 years ago staying at a local(ish)CL. We like Slapton Ley and Start Point area for walking, quite challenging coastal walk at the latter.

Supposed to rain this afternoon here.

there is an old WW2 American tank on display down at Slapton sands I believe it was retrieved from the sea about 30 years ago and now acts as a memorial. Lovely place love the colour of the water down that way

Tank was adorned with wreaths when we went past - presumably re the 81st D-Day anniversary. You’re right about the water - so blue!

@Freddy55 Belated reaction, apologies. We like the Green Venice, or the Venise Verte in French; it's a fairly unspoilt area, apart from possibly Coulon, which is very scenic and consequently very popular. Good for cycling needless to say, which is what we enjoy. Nothing strenuous, which suits us 😉

It was quite a sight, even during the relatively short time when views walking past. I believe that it took over 20 mins for the convoy to edit from Knutsford Services and there would have been many thousands more joining the line at each motorway junction as it headed north. Last year I took about two hours for the 46000 or so to pass as they headed into town at the end of the ride, so perhaps longer this year, but I couldn't afford the time to stand around that long.

Shame you missed out on the pasties @Freddy55 another time maybe? Perhaps our paths will cross one day and we can meet up, you never know. Have a safe journey down to Clent, another site we like.

Glad that you have had some rain at last @Takethedogalong but I think your region, and @Bakers2 (sorry not red) need an awful lot more.

We had thunder and lightning when I headed out around 10 last night but the rain soon passed over. More short periods of rain today and very much cooler thankfully. I got the inside of the caravan cleaned and hoovered ready for taking it in for it's service on Tuesday. It is a busy week as we both have appointments with the dental hygienist and OH has others during the rest of the week too. Then it will be getting the van ready, when we get it back, for our next trip. Even though it was the longest day yesterday it was also the darkest at 10:00 that we have had for many a week, but tonight it is much lighter.

We had rain 🤣🤣🤣. I saw it at 0430, wet on the windows, wet ground 😀. By 0630 no sign apart from drops on the car and the grass looking a little perkier.

Typical, we haven't cut the grass for ages, it's got wispy growth, decided not to trim it before we head off today!

Crazy hot Saturday, better yesterday. Prepped a few bits for going away, but someone in my body with my voice said to the kids come for dinner 🤔🙄😀. It was great to see them all for a few hours. Exhausted when they left after bath time!

So started this morning, builder is now here, and dog to walk plus packing to do. Builder won't be finished before we head out - if I can get us organised 🤣,but happyto leave him - he's done lots of work within the family.

Whatever your plans enjoy your day folks.

Edit, took coffee to builder, he was cutting outside and he had added a layer of clothing - only in England 😀. Unless I shift well be going nowhere.....

@Cornersteady our son and family were there early on Sunday with the intention of going up Scafell Pike but it appears the weather intervened, so they abandoned the idea and headed for Malham Cove (where they still got soaked!) on their way to stay with us near York, and collect their dog who has been staying with us for a couple of weeks. House is quiet again now!

We’ve been helping our daughter and family to move house. Yesterday I helped youngest granddaughter pack up her bedroom. She was quite good at getting rid of unwanted and grown out of toys and games, that was until her Mum came in and got nostalgic, wanting to keep more than granddaughter did. Today OH and I went over to start tackling the extremely overgrown garden. Not many plants left that hadn’t been choked by nettles, ivy and brambles, so OH was armed with a large Strimmer. I did find a rose and spent ages pulling ivy etc away from it to give it a chance. We had finished for the day and daughter and I were walking back towards the house when OH came towards us and the bin with all of the rose caught between the large clippers, we both asked him in shocked voices why he’d cut the rose down - ‘oh, I thought it was a bramble’. I was not happy! And
that’s why I do all our gardening.

We arrived at our latest (and last of this trip) site yesterday. A drive of around 150 miles, but took the best part of 5 hours. The M6 was stop/start in lots of areas. There were lots of motorcycles enroute, I’m guessing it was something to do with Dave Myers? I must admit, I really liked Dave, such a down-to-earth, likeable and jovial sort, something he retained even after his diagnosis. Never to be forgotten.

Our pitch at Clent Hills C&CC….

    IMG_1336.jpeg

We went for a walk at Clent Hills (proper), parking up in the NT car park. Did 3 miles, which is good for me, all things considered…

    IMG_1335.jpeg

The views at the top must encompass several counties, I imagine…

    IMG_1318.jpeg IMG_1320.jpeg IMG_1321.jpeg IMG_1323.jpeg

You can just make out the Malverns above the second stone…

    IMG_1333.jpeg

Tomorrow, we set off home, apparently the grass has grown a bit 😁

    IMG_1337.jpeg

@nelliethehooker , not to fear, we bought a couple of Ginsters at Morrisons, proper pasties them 😁(I’ll get my coat)

Hope you have a relaxing time when you are away @Bakers2 I think you deserve it. Perhaps on your return you will find that the ground is wet and workable, and all the jobs in the house are completed.

You have certainly been busy @DEBSC hope you are not overdoing it following on from your treatment. Shame about the rose after all your hard work clearing around it.

Your daughter appears to be in quite a rush to complete all the Wainwright's @Cornersteady Please that the weather has improved again and you had a good day out on "Li'le Ratty".

Welcome!
