What are you all up to

@DavidKlyne fabulous to hear from you. Sorry to read the reason for absence. Sadly strokes aren't that uncommon, but theres plenty of research on treatment and recovery. It'll be a while before you know what's your new normal. I recall them telling my OH up to 6 years with recovery! There is fantastic care and help out there. Try your best to follow the exercises they give you, and don't be upset by the odd setback. Sincerely wishing you a good recovery.
It's good to read that Margaret is making a full recovery - just as well 😉.
Do keep us posted when you can 💐

@DavidKlyne oh David I’m so sorry to hear this, as I know others will also be, many were wondering if things were ok with you. I hope that you can return home soon and that you continue to recover. Our daughter in law had a stroke in 2012, it took a little while but she is now completely recovered as I sincerely hope that you will be very soon. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and good wishes to you and Margaret.1

Oh dear, David. Really sorry to read this. Carol's mum has just had a TIA, but only spent 3 days in hospital and has recovered quite well for a 93 year old! Get well soon @DavidKlyne - our thought and prayers are with you...

Oh my goodness @DavidKlyne , that’s a bit of a shocker! We were all wondering what could have happened. Like others, I do wish you a good recovery. Glad to hear Margaret is doing well. Do take care of yourself 👍

@DavidKlyne you have been missed David. So shocked to read this and as others have said we have all been concerned about your absence. There is so much help and care available these days so hopefully your new normal will, in time, be very good. Thoughts are with you and Margaret, and pleased to hear that she is progressing well. Take care and very best wishes.

@DavidKlyne gosh I am shocked and sorry to hear your news. Strokes are not uncommon sadly - I had a minor stroke nearly 4 years ago and although slightly slower than I used to be I made a good recovery. Yours obviously is worse than mine but there is so much they can do these days with rehabilitation and physio. I am pleased to hear that they are happy with your progress so far and hope it continues. I hope you can spend a few days at home very soon. You have been missed and we were all concerned about you. Keep in contact when you can. Very best wishes to you and Margaret

Ah, @DavidKlyne welcome to the "useless arm" club. Really sorry to hear the news. You have my sympathy and empathy. I'm now 32 months into rehab. My main arm was my right hand side one and this was the one affected. I hope it gives you some encouragement to know that I'm about 95% recovered with the arm and about 85% with the finger dexterourity. I'm still improving bit by bit but you will really have to keep doing those exercises that the physios will give you. Your brain will be frantically trying new routes to get the message to your limbs.
If you need any specific input into what to expect from a fellow Stroke sufferer then by all means contact me by email, even if you only want to let of a stream of frustration. @Rowena will have the email.
Once again I'm really sorry to hear the news but there is hope in rehab.

MiL took a bit of a tumble last night whilst doing something she knows was wrong making her anger at herself the most hurtful thing today. She fortunately didn't bang her head as that's an automatic hospital visit just her elbow and a broken teacup which slightly nicked a finger. Consequently, and also due to the heat, we haven't done a great deal.
We all nipped out in the afternoon to buy something for dinner and decided to stop for a drink at a pub that looked inviting with a big beer garden. So she got to combine 2 of her favourite pastimes, a drink and a people watch. The owners of the cottage have been so nice to us since we've arrived, particularly so after hearing of MiLs tumble and it's been appreciated by OH and Self.

Oh bless her I do hope MIL is OK @Wherenext especially as she looked as though she was having such a good time in yesterday's photos.
We haven't done a great deal today due to the heat. I did a bit of ironing first thing this morning before it got too hot and then it was an appointment at the surgery this afternoon for OH's B12 injection. Luckily it was at our small local surgery - so much quieter than the big main surgery.
One of our grand-daughter's is in the Lake District doing her Gold DofE and I was worried about them getting heat stroke but she sent a photo of them walking in the mist and rain to Wasdale yesterday so obviously no risk of heat stroke!

Sorry to hear of your stroke @DavidKlyne I did wonder what might have bern the problem with you not posting for so long. It is good to hear that you are now on road to recovery, and that Margaret is also doing well after her operation.
Glad that your MIL was not seriously hurt after her mishap yesterday @Wherenext and that she was able to enjoy a glass or two today. Wish her all the best from u.s both.
It might well have been a different set of problems that your granddaughter faced today @milliehull with the sun out, and it could be warmer tomorrow too. Hope she makes it through without too much trouble.
@Francis we saw this beauty today in the carpark at Leven's Hall this afternoon and I thought of you.

@DavidKlyne I'm so sorry to hear you've had a stroke; like a lot of others on here, I was rather concerned as you hadn't posted for a while. Very pleased to hear from you again, and also to hear that Margaret is doing so well. I hope you'll continue to recover and I think that @Wherenext's own experience is a real inspiration, so there certainly is hope.
All the best to you and Margaret.

@Freddy55 hope it is not too warm now you are in the Lakes. You have said you are going to Kendal next, the C&CC site perhaps? I had a walk through there this afternoon and it was over 3/4 full ready. You could have stopped where we are, on the THS at Spital Farm, which is fair bit cheaper than the club site but a lot busier! :)
We visited Levens Hall today and had a walk through the estate before lunch, where we saw the deer, including a young fawn, and this herd(flock?) of Bagot Goats.
After our picnic we had a wander through the gardens which looked much better than on our last visit. Came across this rather rich Hare.
Just a few of views of the flower gardens.
Was puzzled with this flower as it appears to have two differently coloured flowers coming from the same stem. Any ideas on its identity?

Hi everyone, thanks for all the lovely comments. Not sure how long I will be in re_hab seems a bit elastic, using a tablet is not so easy to type so forgive any strange mistypes! I am being wellcared for but it is a bit boring. Not sure it's a big step forward but was playing catch with a small bean bag yesterday and managed ti catch it several times with the left hand, small victories I suppose?

Really sorry to hear about your stroke David, we too had been wondering why you were not about. Best wishes for a good recovery. Glad to hear that Margaret is doing so well.
While we are both fine, apart from OH’s knees, we have had to make a totally unexpected trip to Norway as my older sister died very suddenly. The funeral is tomorrow. She had not been particularly unwell. She was diabetic and had spent a week in hospital due to some infection and was recovering well, but after being home for a couple of weeks had apparently suffered a pulmonary embolism and did not respond to treatment.
The whole family is still in shock as it was so sudden and unexpected, tomorrow will be a difficult day for everyone.

Nice to hear from you @DavidKlyne. Small victories indeed and they should be welcomed. Don't be surprised by a lack of energy or constant fatigue. It seems to be a common thread with Stroke victims.
MiL still a bit wobbly on her feet so is sitting outside in the lovely garden, in the shade, dozing off every so often. It's not quite been the second half of the break we were hoping to give her but it is what it is. Home tomorrow. If she's up for it we might stop off somewhere.
Enjoy the rest of the day folks.

@KjellNN Condolences to you and the family.
Breast Screening all done and no issues this morning in fact 5 minutes earlier than my time which is good, then coffee and croissant before coming home and a very hot pm 37.5C an next two days could be higher yuck not much will be done outside then goes a bit cooler and possible a thunderstorm.
Have decided that the weather is still hot next week so our short break in the caravan is not going ahead so will leave it until first week of September as we have appointments next and following week and do not do July or August too hot and too many folk about had to do it when working but not now thankfully.
Not long for the Tour de France is here but no where local this year,

Such a lot to catch up on……some not so good news and some very interesting.
@DavidKlyne hoping your recovery goes well, small steps are good steps, but it must have been a shock for you. Hope your OH is doing ok as well.
@Wherenext ah, been there with the unexpected tumble, but sending best wishes and a hug to your MIL, and to you both. The plant you mentioned is I think a Phlomis, sort of sage-like. It comes in pink and yellow varieties. I have just got rid of all mine, it can be a bit of a thug, so I outed it.
Good wishes to others as well going through recovery. Some great photos of interesting places.
We had a nice afternoon out yesterday. Lunch at a nice cafe, and we drove to the furthest point along the Derwent Reservoir, and sat out with the pooch, having a walk and read. Never seen the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs so low.
Howden Reservoir at Allports Castle end. The creek in the middle is all coming in. The green banks show just how long it has been low.
Derwent Reservoir, again very low with some of the old infrastructure exposed. This is looking up the Derwent Valley.
