@Francis - thanks. Our favourite place is sitting outside at Bayard's Cove with a pint from the DA (Dartmouth Arms - a well known haunt of mine when a Cadet at BRNC) and a pastie from the pastie shop in Fairfax Place. Can't believe it's 57 years since I was first there😮

@richardandros Happy birthday Richard we have our birthdays end of next month also both ending in a 5 as I am about 28 hours older than OH ha ha, we like Dartmouth as well although quite a few years since we went and enjoy your holiday.
It is a bit cooler here today around 30/31C, just been and done some shopping whilst a bit cooler also OH needed the Pharmacie only 1 med to get and they did not have it so trip tomorrow to other Pharmacie and we will have our Covid jabs as well no appointment needed.
Slept too well last night and this morning got a touch of Sciatica on left side grr.

And we complain about pitch fees……..I wonder how much it's costing him to moor that there?😂

@richardandros great pic lovely place looking forward to getting back planning on going down to Hillhead next year after the revamp

Been another busy day. Where does the the day go? Had to give blood this morning. Pleasantly surprised to be in and out before my appointed time. Food shopping afterwards. Then we had to go collect something from near Chester.
Waiting in this afternoon whilst giving the cooker a good clean, the carers for MiL don't seem too keen to do that, for the repair man to sort out the scratch on the Van. He rang saying it would probably be for the best if we rearranged as it was due to pelt down with rain. True enough it did. Sorting out various things to take with us next week. Then cooking duties.
Dartmouth looks lovely as usual RandR. About 5 years since we were last there. Always a pleasure. Enjoy your time there.

Grand photo @richardandros hope the weather brightens up for the rest of your stay, especially tomorrow for your birthday. Best wishes.
Hope your repair guy can sort out a time to come before you head off @Wherenext , and that the dealer has offered some compensation for the damage they caused.
Glad to hear that the temperature has dropped somewhat @RedKite and that you miss the thunderstorms.
It has been sunny again today, but a bit hazy and not quite as warm as yesterday, clouding up a bit this evening. OH baked a cake, a Welsh Tea Loaf, in the air fryer this morning before we did another of the waymarked trails of about 3 mls, from the site. All packed up now ready for our next move, back into England.
Another flower photo today, from our walk, Yellow Iris, and Campion in the foreground.

A bit of an uneventful couple of days as I haven’t been able to walk far. The sun made an appearance today after some dull, rainy and misty days. Even the location seemed to be on the up. The view from the caravan…
I’ve been quite surprised by how light it is, well into the late hours. Still some residual light at gone 11pm.
SWMBO took some pics en-route from Oban. Most of them were blocked by roadside trees, but this one caught my eye, quite a coincidence.
A couple more…
Time for a tea break…
For the most part, the roads have been very good, quite smooth compared to Bristol.
I do like Dartmouth @richardandros . One time we took the boat ride from Totnes, which was nice 🙂3 -
LLovely Photos, great to see and read folks news.
Still occupied fully!, every day. Great day out with WI. At Elton Hall and gardens - very limited opening, so check if you want to visit. Great lunch on their cafe first, and a cuppa after. Indoors for routine stuff - then history group. Brilliant film about the crashed spitfire excavation and recovery as part of The Great Fen (Project - as was).
Really warm today on waking. First the dog walk and minor essential chores. Got to get OH to the barbers, not before time 😂 but needed to time it for the christening Sunday. My hair appointment is in the village this afternoon. Also got to pick up OH altered trousers for Sunday. Tomorrow builder back for 0800..…
@richardandros wishing you many happy returns 🎂🎁🥳. Whatever you do enjoy your day.
Enjoy your day folks

I agree. Elton Hall is a lovely place to visit - both the house and the gardens are beautiful but as @Bakers2 says it is very limited opening so check before you visit. It is a member of HHA.
We had a letter from Anglian Water this week to tell us that we had a water leak so we contacted our friendly local plumber who said he thought it was our outside water tap which he has adjusted. He also adjusted the overflow in our ensuite cistern which might also have been a 'culprit'. Fingers crossed it is now sorted 🤞
Happy birthday @richardandros. Hope you have a great day.
Lovely photos again @nelliethehooker. Welcome back to England 😊
Hope @DEBSC 's week has gone well.

@nelliethehooker - Hope you have your passport handy. Regarding the "compensation" remark we're not too bothered tbh as we haven't lost anything financially or had to postpone upcoming travel plans. It is only minor damage. I was just grateful that in this day and age someone actually admitted their mistake and having been told that they had damaged the Van I was expecting at least a dint or broken headlamp but we can put up with a scratch for a while. As said it would have been fixed yesterday but for the biblical rainstorm we had.
I think MiL thinks we're either heading for snow filled hills or the beach looking at the array of potential clothing put out for OH to go through. Most of it returned from whence it came😂 As MiL said "You can't trust our weather" which whilst true doesn't give her carte blanche to empty her wardrobe.🤣 Travel day tomorrow promises thunderstorms. Hope she's packed a raincoat.

Not too bad @milliehull thank you. Drove there in terrible rain storm yesterday, the garden needed a good water and it certainly got it, haven’t seen that much rain in months. Another week managed. One machine was being serviced today so quite a wait as squeezing everyone onto two machines. They must be very clever people who service those massive, complicated machines. We left here at 11.50 am and got back home at 5pm as I had my longest wait of an hour. The procedure itself only takes 15 minutes. It’s difficult for the staff to organise with a machine down. They are a lovely young bunch of people working there. I often see the same patients in the waiting rooms so maybe just a smile but often a little chat and good wishes and support given. I’m a little sore, and a couple of issues but ok. Back again on Monday and grateful for the weekend. Try to rest a bit was their parting words, OH said, it’s a good job they don’t know you’ve just ordered new googles as you intend to use the small chainsaw to cut that big dead bush down this weekend. Oops.😬 Our granddaughter has come home from Uni for the weekend as it’s her 21st birthday so we will be visiting them on Sunday for a get together. I promised to take the deserts but I’ll be buying them from Iceland this time rather
than making them. Hope everyone has a good weekend and @Wherenext enjoys your break away and has a good journey, if you can squeeze in the car with all MILs clothes 🤭.0 -
we arrived on site early afternoon bit of a last minute decision didn’t book until Wednesday night but wanted away so came to one of our local haunts. Site very busy very warm outside but quite dull. Went to chippy for dinner tonight. Not much planned just hoping to relax
Hope everyone else has a nice weekend

Good to hear from @DEBSC. Halfway there now. I remember the agonies my poor mum suffered when she had to have radiotherapy back in the early 1960s for Bowel Cancer. She had it locally at Clatterbridge Hospital on the Wirral as my father was posted to an RAF camp nearby. So I grew up surrounded by the effects of cancer and soon learned household chores, but somehow had to do my homework first.😁 No Chemo then. Best wishes that it works out.
We're down your way, well Stratford way, next week, staying in a cottage that hopefully is MiL proof. We are taking the Van mainly so we can fit everything that we will need for MiL in, like her Rollator and shower chair. She's toured the area before but as a wife and younger but wanted to go back. Planning days out for her is a nightmare, but she's worth it.

Grand photo, @Freddy55 the site doesn't look to be over busy. Hope the sun is still shining up there, & that there is a gentle breeze to keep the "wee beasties" at bay.
@DEBSC I guess you are pleased that you have got through half of your treatment, especially with all the travelling involved. Hope the next week's go without any problems.
Enjoy your weekend away, @Francis even if the forecast is not too good.
We had an easy drive down across the border to a CL we have not used before, near Hexham. A basic site but with good views, off the beaten track so very quiet, and an off-road bridleway outside the gate ideal for taking Flyte out for his walks. Quite a bargain too at £15 pn on Hardstanding with EHU (£12 without)! It has been another fine sunny and warm day, around 23C, with a gentle breeze.
Came across this handsome chap during my afternoon walk today.
I wonder how @richardandros got on today in the thunderstorms that were shown to have occurred along the South coast.

@Wherenext I hope that the guy does a good job when he is able to do the work. Enjoy your time at Stratford and have a safe journey there tomorrow.

Hiya @nelliethehooker . The site was virtually empty when we went out for a couple of hours earlier on. When we got back it wasn’t far off full. Mostly folk from Germany and Holland, as far as I can tell, nice to see. Haven’t been bothered too much by midges here, as the wind seems a constant. Had a quite a bit of rain this trip, not much sun and it’s been relatively cold, had a right downpour during the night. Moving on to Glencoe tomorrow, hopefully won’t be quite as exposed. Probably a 4 1/2 hour drive, I don’t rush.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. Here's a photo of something you don't often see on a Club campsite - even a C&CC one!
What a beast!! - lifting a concrete stairway into place. For those that know the site, the derelict pub was knocked down during Covid, but the developer went bust. Site then bought by a London developer to turn it into 11 luxury apartments. Can't believe there are just 4 guys working here. I wonder what these will sell for????
Our favourite spot in Dartmouth - Bayard's Cove - I could sit here and take in the view, all day! I found the walk of a few hundred yards from the bus stop at the Boat Float a struggle, though - but the good news is that I got an email this morning informing me of a hospital appt in July - so perhaps I'll start to find out what's going on with my joints!
Back to the van after a nice lunch - don't know how Ros managed to make this without me knowing😉
In answer to your question @nelliethehooker - we heard all about the flooding etc in Plymouth on the evening news but absolutely nothing here - only 25 miles away. Warm and sunny one minute, then clouding over the next - and it was like that all day. However, the thunderstorm did arrive with a vengeance during the night and has passed over now - and the forecast for the rest of our stay is warm and sunny - and no rain!😀
Pleased to hear that you've got another week behind you @DEBSC - nearly there😁. Yesterday must have been very frustrating for you. Enjoy your day, tomorrow. Enjoy your week away, @Wherenext - Your comments about your MiL do make me laugh - but I know they're made with affection!

@richardandros Glad you had a good birthday yesterday and the weather behaved itself, we have still got some of those plates and 3 dishes, enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Well we had some thunder last night but very little rain and the forecast was for severe weather we may get a storm today and possibly tomorrow the ground could do with it.
Had our 8th Covid jab yesterday so both got sore arms and feeling a bit groggy but that could be the heat and this morning had the window open to get some breeze in and next door neighbour 2 fields down the road decided at 6am to get the digger out and demolish the end of his drive not happy bunnies, but he could be preparing the ground ready for the rest of the waterworks work next Tuesday as they will be connecting him and us to the new water system may have to cover up cars/caravan as they will be cutting on side of the road ear defenders at the ready ha ha.
Have a good weekend folks.

Some interesting trips still happening😁 @DEBSC good to get your second week of treatment over, not long now, wishing you all the best. @Wherenext enjoy your time away in Stratford, hope the weather stays nice for you🤞 @richardandros happy birthday🥳
Yorkshire is officially in drought. We certainly haven’t seen any rain in our little South Yorks micro climate, and the last couple of days have been very warm with forecast similar. Hope it stays dry today, as we are off to a classic car show at Brodsworth Hall. OH will be inspecting the cars, but I am looking forward to seeing the gardens again. I know every inch of the grounds, having been a volunteer gardener there for 13 years, but there’s always some nice changes, new plantings. A lovely backdrop for a classic car show, on tomorrow as well if anyone is close.

Happy belated birthday @richardandros, nice cake. @nelliethehooker he is a handsome chap but I hope he isn’t too near to you in the mornings, as a very early alarm. @Wherenext send us all some photos of your days in the Stratford area and let us know of your days out, I think we all look forward to the MIL quips but we know that you are very fond of her, have a good time. @Takethedogalong you can have some of our recent rain for Yorkshire, it hasn’t stopped for two days and very heavy. Our garden plants have grown by feet in that time and it’s now very green and jungle like but might have to wait a while for another good tidy, I just hate it when it’s not prim and proper though. Looks like the weather might cheer up here now though.0
-
@Wherenext Enjoy your holiday in the Stratford area and weather remains good.
@DEBSC Hope your next lot of treatment goes ok and halfway through.
It is only 20C at present a lot cooler thankfully but getting very hot again at the end of next week, off to meet friends who are over from UK in the Dordogne next Wednesday and going out for lunch so looking forward to that.
1 -
@takethedogalong enjoy the car show I was at one last week and have another one coming up at the end of the month love going to the shows always some lovely cars to admire
@Wherenext enjoy Stratford we have only ever been there once about 5 years ago but would like to return to explore further.
@richardandros great photo please post more of the area when out and about great place we like Brixham and Torquay too a bit more touristy but lovely all the same. @nelliethehooker glad you are having a good time awayA bit dull here this morning so we are just going to relax watch trooping the colour and maybe head in to town in the afternoon.
Hope you all have a nice weekend

Thanks @Francis OH loves classic cars. We really ought to take ours, as MGB, our 24 year old MH would both have “classes”, plus the Wrangler would go into the American section. Mini is getting on a bit as well……. I go “car blind” after an hour, so have to have something else of interest around, hence I like the shows at Houses and Gardens.
It’s another hot sunny day here. We got our pool up and ready last month, and it’s a great boost in the day to climb in and float about in it, very relaxing. No hosepipe ban yet, but I fear it is coming. I am already only watering (watering can) selected plants.
Enjoying the photos from up and down the country. We like the Dartmouth area, although it does get very busy, and loving the Scottish trips. Pleas let us have that CL name @nelliethehooker as we often visit Hexham area. We have tended to use Whittlees CL further West on Hadrian’s Wall, and last time we stayed at Hexham stayed on the Racecourse Site, an old Trax site, now much improved and a great location.

@nelliethehooker Interesting to read re your OH Welsh Tea Loaf in the air fryer is it easy to do, glad you are enjoying your break away and good weather.
Just watched Trooping the Colour as my Grandfather was in the Welsh Guards and in his day they had to be over 6ft tall as he was 6ft 4in, glad the weather was dry and sunny for it.
Still suffering from Sciatica just about had enough of it now as cannot do much just as well not much needed to do outside.

@DEBSC best wishes and enjoy your weekend and hope you can relax a bit. Take care. We would love to have some of your rain here in Yorkshire. A few showers were promised here around lunchtime but it seems to have missed us again. We did get a bit excited to see clouds earlier but now have blue sky and sun, so it won’t happen now. It’s getting frustrating as any wet stuff seems to stop around the Humber or the A1 and it never makes it here it seems. @Takethedogalong yes I saw the Yorkshire official drought article, rather worrying.
Belated birthday wishes @richardandros enjoy your holiday, we haven’t been to Dartmouth area for many years and I’m afraid all I remember is bad traffic but we may have coincided with a busy holiday period!
Loving all the pictures from everyone, enjoy the weekend and any upcoming holidays.

@RedKite - those plates etc must be about 30 years old!! Bought them when I kitted out the yacht and still have a full set of dinner and small plates, jugs, salad dishes, small bowls and even egg cups! They certainly don't owe me anything!!
0 -
@richardandros we think ours are about same age.
Well just had an email from our friends in the Dordogne to say Wednesday is off as they are cutting their holiday short and sailing back Monday night as she said just cannot cope with this hot weather and they are due to come down again in September but will let us know later on, as OH said lets go out somewhere else for the day just got to think where as it will be hot on Wednesday possible 35C somewhere near water as long as no mozzies about ha ha. Now cleared over here after a dull morning and 24C outside much better.

SStill Waiting for some rain here. We had a heavy shower last evening but it's not done much good. The wind has been strong all day, showing the backs of the leaves. My phone has had the rain symbol on all day.
It's been a very warm day here, just as well as open gardens in our village with various displays of crafts and I noticed a few classic cars outside the pub. It was also carnival day in son's village, and vintage festival in a village the other side. We didn't join in with any of them, pottered about here as I need my foot to be good tomorrow.
BBuilder was in this morning, decorator in Monday and unit fitting starts Wednesday.
EEarly Start tomorrow for grandson's christening. Was touch and go for a while as he's had chicken pox! He'll be nine months next week, and able to have 'the jab' ironic or what? Looking forward to seeing everyone forecast is looking good 🤞
@Francis how is your foot?
@Debsc good to know another week of treatment complete. Try go rest and recover, but enjoy your weekend.
I'm getting double first letters at the start of a paragraph, I've had this ever since the revised forum, that's why mh @'s aren't working!
