Expensive day today. Just renewed our Campervan insurance, plus renewed the tracker subscription, plus took the van in for annual service this morning, plus received our Barclaycard statement which will all be paid off today. Looks like Beans on toast for tea tonight.

Also had a visit to the GP. More samples needed when I go for bloods on Thursday.

I sincerely hope that @DavidKlyne and Margaret are just without internet connection and that nothing serious has happened. There are a fair few others who are similarly missing in action, such as @mickysf and @HelenandTrevor. I think @Oneputt has his caravan back so he might be out and about enjoying himself.

    Hope all are well

Busy few days between garden stuff and our daughter’s 40th birthday party.

She had our GS doing stuff in her garden last week, under my supervision, and I was also helping her to assemble a metal BBQ shelter as the forecast for Saturday was poor. However things turned out better than expected, with only a couple of showers, so the party on Saturday went very well.

On Sunday we had GS here for a few hours, so more logs cut up and sent home with him. We may well have him here again on Friday, weather permitting, as there is still a lot to do.

During the recent heavy rain we discovered our front facing patio doors were letting in water. It looks like the timber is damaged, so we will need to get someone to look at that, I expect the doors will need to be replaced. Thinking about bi-fold doors instead.

@Freddy55 we used the A828/A82 as far as Spean Bridge this year and it is just fine, and beyond there is just as good, having towed the last caravan, which 7.25 m long, that way to the club sites at Morvich and onto Kinlochewe without any major problems. Have a safe journey and enjoy the magnificent scenery enroute!

Thanks 👍 The forecast for tomorrow is looking a bit better, might even see the sun! So, will be able to actually see the scenery 🙂 I haven’t forgotten that you want information regarding the Skye site. Anything in particular? Or just a general description/impression?

Just a general impression please, as it might be on our visiting list for next year. Access, potential dog walks from the site and if you think it was value for money and worth the long tow out there. Cheers & TIA.

We have moved over the Forth Bridge to one of our most favoured sites at Beecraigs Country Park above Linlithgow. The day stayed fine for most of the trip but we did catch a couple of short showers, enough to wet the caravan's front cover. We were able to set up, on our booked pitch, and get a walk in before the rain came, and it is now rather damp and quite misty. Hope it brightens up by the morning as a round of washing is on the books. The site is nearly full tonight, all of 17 units, as one of the pitching bays is out of use as there is a film crew utilising it.

Thanks for the little reminder @Wherenext .... need to renew our caravan insurance too....

Had a really busy few days, but good to read what everyone is up to. Carol's 93 year old mother is out of hospital following a minor stroke.... we are backwards and forwards over to Wolverhampton, providing all the support we can... In the meantime, Carol is still waiting for a hip replacement date, having already been for a 'pre-op'.

@Goldie146 I am sure Mark Cavendish has led the TofB peloton around that corner🤩 Hope all goes well for you.

Night out for us later today. We are off to the City Ground Nottingham to watch England play Senegal tonight, should be a better than average friendly as Senegal are one of Africa’s better teams. Hopefully our well worked out travel logistics will go to plan, and England have a much better game than against Andorra.🤞Windy, but a lovely sunny warm day here. So, a steady pottering day before heading out. OH is busy looking at the top lights (in overhead cab area, external) on our MH, I will be tickling a few weeds around garden. If water warms up a bit, we might get a dip in pool later.

@Wherenext We have similar expenses on the 1st of August: insurance, breakdown cover, tax and MOT on the van, plus tax on the car.

I'm also a bit concerned about @DavidKlyne and Margaret, and as you say @mickysf and @Helenandtrevor (can't get that to go red after many attempts) haven't posted for a while either. Hope all is well.

I too hope all those listed that have not posted on here recently, and Tammygirl too, are all well.

Grand photos @Goldie146 and fingers crossed that the herd prove to be free from TB this time around.

@Goldie146 - hope all goes well for you today. I'm sure you'll let us all know how it's gone.

Well, despite my concerns, we arrived safely at the C&CC site at Dartmouth, yesterday afternoon. Despite being nearly wiped off the road just outside D'mouth by a construction truck travelling far too fast and coming round a bend on the wrong side of the road. How I missed that telegraph pole sticking out into the side of the road, I don't know!!

Never seen the site as busy as this, although it is about six years since we were last here and we always come at the same time of the year. It's almost full now and I understand it will be by the weekend. Bit different from Broadway and I suspect the more than £10 p.n. difference in pitch fee might have something to do with it.

Interesting that there's quite a few German registered vehicles here at the moment - something I've not noticed before.

Once the forecasted thunderstorms have passed over tomorrow, it looks like dry and sunny weather for the rest of out two week stay😀.

The less said about England’s woeful performance last night, the better. Utterly boring, lacking any kind of effort, skill, creativity. Enjoyed visiting the City Ground though, but it was a bit like stepping back in time, a very old ground, much loved by locals. We walked from the tram, and could see what we thought was the ground in distance. That turned out to be Trentbridge (Cricket Stadium) Football ground was tucked away down a side street. It’s nearly 40 years since I last saw Trentbridge, I was sent off (sin binned) playing Lacrosse at Uni🤭 It’s changed a bit since then. Lovely walk along riverside…….

The ground emptied after Senegal’s third goal, it’s the first time at a game I didn’t need to queue to use the Ladies🤣 There’s always a positive somewhere😁 I had to chuckle walking back after game, overheard two supporters discussing game, it didn’t sound like they had watched the same one we did. They say it’s the hope that wears you down😉

    Glorious warm sunny day here.

@nelliethehooker , having had a quick check, apart from the onsite dog walk, there doesn’t appear to be any dog walks directly from site. There are some not too far from site, but you’d have to drive to them. I can provide further details if required. There are no pavements along the A road outside the site, and it’s a 60 limit. The site facilities are fine, but the location is pretty remote. During bad weather, I imagine it would be pretty bleak. The surroundings are open, but apart from the loch and a couple of rolling hills, it’s a bit featureless really. Access is easy. It’s a single track down to the site, but it’s visible all the way down (2-300 yds), with a passing place. With the age discount, we paid £29 pn for the two of us, with ehu. I suppose if the location suits, then it represents pretty good value. To be fair there’s nothing wrong with the site itself, but would I recommend it? Based on location, no. Of course, it’s just my opinion. Hope this helps 👍

Enjoying the photos folk are putting on here.

Very hot here today 38.2C phew too hot for us so a few chores done early also took OH's Landcruiser in for service and CT(MOT) will get it back tomorrow late afternoon, then a quiet afternoon inside OH even had a snooze as he said just a bit hot for him, a few more days then thunderstorms on the way.

Hoping to get away in the caravan for a few days at a local site near the end of this month.

Bit too hot for me as well @RedKite. Hope it cools down soon.

Very pleasant day, weather wise, today so we got stuck into a job we hate, clearing the Block Paving driveway of moss and weeds. Weedkillers just doesn't seem to do it so it's a hands on job. Both of us fairly sore but too be honest it was looking a bit embarrassing.

Got The Van back yesterday after its habitation service. They managed to damage it whilst moving it, fortunately not badly. They've already arranged for a repair man to visit tomorrow for repairs. It's a mere scratch but needs sorting. At least they were honest about it.

Off to a cottage with MiL on Saturday and we use the Van as OHs run around would only be capable of taking MiLs clothing allowance!😂

@wherenext I've just come in from an hour on our block paving with the weedburner. Never tried weedkiller, not keen. We have a huge area and I reckon I've spent the equivalent of 2 full weeks on it and I've still got about another half day to do. Won't be perfect then, but not the disgrace it was becoming.

It was very humid here this afternoon. @RedKite that"s far too hot for me. There's talk of late 20's here Friday, I expect that'll be sports day cancelled again.

Had another treatment on my foot today. One to go. It was quite comfortable today, before treatment. He said I was walking the best he's seen me do in 5 weeks. So that's progress.

Got a trip out to Elton Hall and gardens, with lunch tomorrow 😀

Very warm here today too so we also got some work done in that garden we lost part of our fence during that bad storm in January so finally got that fixed and gave it a coat of paint today. Went to B and Q to get some paint to give the summer house a coat of paint. We are hosting a family party here next Saturday so want the garden looking good

Interesting that there's quite a few German registered vehicles here at the moment - something I've not noticed before.

We have noticed the same @richardandros There have been many German Motor Homes/Campervans and hired ones driven by Germans on site. In fact on the pitching area we currently occupy there is a German Trailer tent, a Dutch campervan, a Spanish registered car, and a Scottish M/H driven by a Portuguese family, out of 6 units. Hope the forecasted storms, and the heatwave, don't spoil your stay at Dartmouth.

Thanks @Freddy55 , that is just the type of information I wanted. It could well be that we will give it a miss while we still have Flyte. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and I look forward to hearing about the rest of it.

@RedKite those sort of temperatures are way above any that we feel comfortable in. Hope the storms don't cause any damage over there, and you can get away in your caravan.

Not the sort of thing one expects when you hand over your M/H to the dealer @Wherenext Fingers crossed that the repair is carried out swiftly and to your satisfaction. Have a good time on your trip away at the cottage from Saturday.

It has been probably the warmest day of our current trip, with lovely sunshine and virtually no wind. We walked from the site through the country park, saw Roe Deer and a Hare, and did around 4 mls. After getting back to the van OH did another round of washing, which again dried quickly outside. The whole site is less busy tonight with 3 pitches unoccupied.

Todays plant, instead of a flower, is a Golden Acer or Maple, one of half a dozen, which thankfully hadn't suffered the storm damage which had brought down many of the conifers in one area of the CP in particular.

Lovely day here, pottered around garden, Sis didn’t need me up at Mum’s, so we enjoyed a day outside, I did some clearing of bulb leaves and planted some home grown Cosmos plants, OH has planted another six tomato plants, and we finished off with a swim in pool. Don’t think I could cope with 38c though🥵

Long overdue hair cut for me tomorrow.

Had a nice day, yesterday, not doing too much - after putting the awning up, that is! Debated as to whether or not just to 'make do' with the Thule canopy, but eventually came down in favour of the lightweight awning, primarily so that we could hide all the 'junk' we had in the car - otherwise it would have just looked untidy under the canopy.

Then had a visit from our friends who are staying in Dartmouth but off home today. The weather was glorious when they arrived - almost too hot to sit outside - but after an hour, something strange started to happen - clouded over , then the mist came rolling in from the sea and it went quite cold. However, after about ten minutes, sun was out, and it was boiling hot again! This went on, on and off for the rest of the day and it also started to get quite windy - obviously a warning of the thunderstorm that appeared overnight.

Quite a few arrivals during the day and the site is almost full now - including a few more foreign visitors which is good to see.

Off into D'mouth today and do some essential shopping and perhaps have a coffee somewhere out of the heavy rain we're experiencing at the moment. Biggish birthday for me tomorrow - not a "0" - but a "5" and don't know what Ros has got planned, but I suspect it will be a bus ride from outside the site into town - and lunch😀
