Well they actually live in Villamartin, they do live in essentially what you would call a holiday apartment, 2 bed, 2 bath, lounge kitchen, utility, very nice balcony and what they call a solerium on the roof, communal pool, tennis courts that sort of thing, 20 mins to beach very nice laughing

P.S. DK did you get a booking reference and did you print that page, only ask because some people have not been hitting i think it is "save" to complete the process and as a consequence the process has not been completed and in fact you have no booking, hence no email ?????mine was almost instantaneous text also ???

Same here Rufs, ours was an instantaneous conformation.  I think it’s ‘Confirm’ which is a bit further down the page so easily missed!  Although I think David said he did do that.  Very strange.

Brue, glad you got yours sorted too.

DK, yes, it was the NHS website.  Agree it seems a bit clunky; I'd have thought that, when it said "one of your dates isn't available" it would show you what that date was, and give alternatives.  But it takes you back to the start.  After the first couple of unsuccessful attempts, we only input OH's mobile number and didn't bother with the email address, as we thought that saved a bit of time before hitting the "Accept and Book" button; it didn't work with the next attempt, but did with the one after that.  Confirmation was immediate with a text detailing both 1st and 2nd appointment details.

At least when it comes to my turn, we'll know what to expect from the website, unless they change it!

Yes, I downloaded the confirmations as .PDF files and they clearly state the booking, for both jabs is complete and to bring them with us when we go. It was at the point of completion that we got the message saying there is a problem with the time being available. It is only when you are successful that you can download the completion document. We had a choice of email or text but clearly backed the wrong horse!!! The NHS seems committed to text rather than other forms of communication. Margaret now gets here hospital letters sent to her hospital account. They send a text, you log in and have to request a code which allows you access from where you can download the letters, again as a .PDF file.

Yes, I had a blood test back in December, at the hospital, and have never  heard anything more, so I will ring them tomorrow about the results from that and tack on the vaccination question.

Have not rung them before as the text sent out to all patients specifically said not to ring the surgery about a vaccination date.

Today I tried the NHS Scotland vaccination helpline and got a young lass who was adamant that I would receive a letter, as OH has, and not a text or phone call.......even when I read out the text to her!

She then suggested I ring the Health Board to check, and gave me a phone number, this turned out to be the number for making a complaint, and was answered by a recording saying it was not manned at present.

I can only presume that our GP has not yet received any vaccine.  OH will see if she can find out anything at her appointment tomorrow, but I doubt she will find anyone there who can give any answers.

Woke to find we had about 5 cm of snow!surprised First walk, wearing wellies, was a bit dicey underfoot so wore my heavy walking boots for our main morning walk, which was just the ticket. Light rain as we got half way round which turned heavier after we got home, which shifted much of the snow but left the ground very wet. Wellies again for the afternoon walk, after having taken OH to the dentist for a short appointment, and thankfully the rain had stopped. Heavy again now so all of the snow should be washed away by the time I head out again shortly.

Good to hear that many have had their vaccinations or are at least getting an appointment.

I get letters from UHCW (University hospital of Coventry and Warwick) sent to something called Dotpost.  They send me an email to let me know a Dotpost mail has arrived.  I know it's probably a security thing, but I'd just prefer one email with the information rather than an email telling me that they've sent something else.  George Eliot Hospital just send letters through the post, or just ring me up! 😃

Still waiting to hear about Covid jab - I reckon I'm probably in the 5th band.  Mind you, I went to play the organ at a funeral today and one of the lads from the Funeral Directors said they had all had their jabs.  I guess they must be in the highly vulnerable category.

I received a text from our surgery at 8pm last night, inviting me to book for a jab. Followed the link in the text and booked for 0900 on Saturday - couldn’t have been easier and I was most impressed. Then received a confirmation text seconds later. Ros off for hers this morning - so that’s us both sorted😀

when it works it is great, my only concern was that i received letter from NHS on a Saturday went to web site booked appointments all good, but then on the Sunday received telephone call from local surgery asking me if i would like to make an appointment, guess either they are working from a different data base or it was slow to update, but all good OH was given my appointments so all good.

My only worry was when i passed the local pharmacy yesterday where i am booked for my jab tomorrow, there seemed to be little activity in the covid vaccine area, but all good, nice lady told me that i would be one of the first to receive the vaccine from them on Thusday ...phew...

Looks like East/South Yorkshire is doing fine. Our area is operating the same. Text or call from surgery, if it’s a text go to link, takes 30 seconds to get a slot. As far as I know, no family or friends have had a letter, all gone through local NHS and doctors surgeries. Our local GP’s got together over big flu jab push, used it as a dry run for mass Covid jab programme. For flu they used drive through venues, now it’s cold and wet, they are using five big locations with car parks and indoor halls. NHS staff are going out to vulnerable homes to do at home jabs, my friends, who are both in recovery from major issues had their’s at home Monday. OH mopped up a short notice Pfizer dose on Sunday, so best use is made of what’s out there. Hope others don’t find things too stressful.....

We knew our area was going to be slower but it does start to feel as though you've been missed out and the second dose will be further into the year too. Being rural the venues are spread out and they're either huge like the showground and racecourse sites or in community centres in smaller towns etc. Very few local surgeries are involved but I think they'll come on line later when the first groups have gone through. Hope anyone waiting gets news soon, the next groups will be wanting their jabs!

Really lovely start to the day here, warm enough to sit outside if the garden benches weren't so damp! Got to make the best of it before the temperatures plummet again, the usual Spring up and down weather.

We have more fruit tree pruning tomorrow so must enjoy the peaceful sounds of the garden today instead of the petrol saw and chipper.

OH had a text from our surgery in December giving him a phone number to ring - it took a day and a half to get through but the 2 appts were made at the same time. He has had both his jabs. Mine was a text from our surgery inviting me to make appt via text - all done in a couple of minutes, including the confirmation text, followed by a reminder on the day. No 2nd appt made though.  They will contact me nearer the time.  2 days later I got a letter from the hospital inviting me to make an appointment - left hand and right hand not communicating again.wink

Miserable day here, wet and cold.  OH has had her vaccination, she had the Pfizer one, and said it was very well organised, straight in, a few questions, vaccination done and a 15 minute seat before being released.

She did manage to ask a couple of the nurses about why we over 75s are not being called in, apparently they  were getting lots of questions about that.   The answer seems to be that the local GPs have not received supplies of vaccine, and we just have to wait till they do.

They too could not really understand why  our health board has decided to handle things  this way, possibly they are trying to keep we older people out of the way of the masses?

However, OH said the vaccination centre was not crowded, everyone was well spaced out, hand sanitisers at entrance and exit, chairs cleaned between each patient, so really no reason to keep the 75-80s away unless they were particularly vulnerable.

While OH was in there, I used my time to try and get in touch with a human at our surgery, without success.  All I got was a lot of recorded messages  giving other numbers to ring and telling me they were very busy..........pretty much please hang up unless it is an emergency situation, so I gave up at that point.

Good to hear others getting dates for the jabs. Yesterday I was out the game most of the day it seems that I got the side effects that they tell you about. Felt really tired and had aches all over which they did say could happen so just had a day at home catching up on the telly. Feel much better today though which is good news can’t really do much though as the weather is rubbish so another day confined to barracks for us

I am resigned to probably not getting my first until April, but then knew I was a lot further down the list. Probably looking at August for jab number two.

Just hoping all those in the variant postcodes are sensible. Last thing we need at the moment is another strain running riot across the country.

"They will contact me nearer the time. 2 days later I got a letter from the hospital inviting me to make an appointment - left hand and right hand not communicating again"

just pleased to have 2 appointments in the bag so to speak, but this aspect is a bit of a problem, i have now had 2 telephone calls from my local surgery and 1 letter from the NHS, my OH has had appointments arranged by the surgery, and in the post today a letter from the NHS, if you multiply this by X number of times across the country it could amount to a very large sum of wasted money and timeundecided

    KjeIIN

"The answer seems to be that the local GPs have not received supplies of vaccine, and we just have to wait till they do"

Boris did offer to help Scotland with these logistical problems today at PMQ's, but Mr Blackford wasted the opportunity and could only respond by telling BJ what a terrible man and leader he was and how his visit broke all the rules. Somebody needs to bang a few heads together and tell people to get on with it as this is endangering peoples lives.frown

No snow here either Kj, we keep getting flurries but the ground is to wet for it to stick.

Sorry to hear you are still waiting for a call about your jab. My BIL 76 got a call from his GP and is booked in for Thursday. My sister 74 was told she has to wait awhile longer.

It would appear we are to have a mass vaccination centre in the Dewer's ice rink. No date yet as to when that will be but from what we've heard soon.

Looks like it will be where we will be asked to attend as GPs will finish off the over 80s & 70s first jab, then start doing the second ones.

Tayside seems to have got themselves together now and are pushing on through the ages. It appears its the GPs lack of sufficient vaccine that is causing the hold up.

Mind you the wee nippy one will not hear of it, its incredible how she totally dismisses any comments that she doesn't like.

Today it seems the Army is herssurprised or words to that effect. Strange as I always thought it was the British Army.

Ceiling and coving  painted this morning, hallway now finished, bathroom next.

Off out to pick up a delivery from M&S shortly while its dry.

We'll do that, it's the least we can do to recognise his contribution, I expect others in our street will be out too.

We had to go out today. Stood like a numpty with others outside our surgery in the next village, door bell pressed awaiting mystery contact from within. Fifteen minutes later we were told the bell now had a video call on it...so we all lined up again and gave our names and requests and lo and behold the door opened, all I needed to do was hand in identification to join the on line Patient Access. I wasn't allowed in with this last year. Progress?!

No queue in the chemist whilst I picked up a repeat prescription. Then onto a member of OHs fishing club to hand in paper work from the latest people signing up to join. The said member is in remission from cancer and has only just got his "letter" he's going off to Taunton Racecourse as he remembers when they had horses there. wink

I felt very strange "going out" getting a bit flattened by being in the village. We passed Asda and the car park was heaving. frown

When we got home we had letters for the Covid jab awaiting us but as we're sorted we can ignore these.

Francis sorry you didn't feel so good after yours, we've spoken to someone who felt similar. Pleased to hear progress is being made generally.

I have got away with ordering a new tree ...it arrived today, forgot it had large prickles on it guaranteed to catch OH unawares..it's a Sichuan Pepper tree, I'm going to call it a shrub...🌳 laughing

TG - yes I saw little Nippy claim the army as being hers. A couple of mins before that members on her side were heard to be booing and hissing when Ruth Davidson mentioned the army as you say she has a way of dismissing questions they don’t”t show her in a good light my feeling is though that she won’t be avoiding awkward questions much longer and we shall see how she copes then.

Brue - Feeling much better now thanks I always seem to take side effects from vaccines even the flu one makes me unwell for a day or two.

Rufs - Love the pic I’ve always liked that model of Discovery never actually owned one though.
