What are you all up to

Snow is lingering here☹️ They had little snow plough out up at hospital when I dropped OH off for an X-ray. Hoping it might be gone for Friday, so I can have another session in garden. I shall be avidly watching for first signs of frogspawn once it warms up a bit. Mid February last year, but it’s a bit colder this year.

Decided to have a run out to where we will get our vaccinations on Saturday as its on the south side of MK. The address is a pharmacy but it is quite small so I thought it might be in the medical centre next door. Somebody from inside the medical centre obviously saw us looking with some curiosity so he came out to speak to us and told us the vaccination place is around the back in a marquee. We went round to have a look and again someone came out to talk to us! We explained we were just checking where we need to come and Margaret mentioned that our appointments ar two hours apart. Nice man said come in together and we will do that at the same time, so worth the trip.

After OH had her vaccine, we went along to Tesco for supplies. OH went in alone, I went to the chemist to collect a prescription. Car park at Tesco was strangely quiet, as was the store it seems, everyone with masks and well distanced.
OH has been exchanging e mails with our MSP's assistant, and the mystery as to why our GP has no, or insufficient, vaccine for the over 75s is to be raised with the local "Health and Social Care Partnership"!!
Had a short FaceTime with DD and Callum and an update on baby brother. He kept them all awake last night as he had wind, but is now sleeping peacefully.
And he has a name.......Nathan Finlay.......Finlay is his other grandfather. Callum has my name as his middle name.
DD has an elderly Volvo which did not come with Isofix mounts for a baby seat. I fitted a set for Callum's seat, so now I need to fit a second set. They have been out and cleared a big enough space in their garage to get most of the car in, so I do not need to be doing it outside in the cold and wet.
Pretty sure it will still be rather cold, but at least not wet. Has to be done by next Monday as SIL's car goes on Tuesday for service and MOT. He has to borrow a car from his parents to go to work, and DD does not want to be unable to go out, with both Callum and Nathan if there is an "emergency". The alternative would be to lend her our Touareg for a day or two.

It's just so unfair. Earlier today I spoke to the boss man and offered to move from car park duty to jabbing people. Apparently I need to have some training; my amateur skills injecting home made donuts with jam and/or custard don't count

I've been reading all the vaccine comments on here. OH got a letter from NHS last week but when he tried to book locally, 9 miles away, it came up with no availability. Rather than phone our surgery ( pretty hopeless at the best of times) he booked the next nearest option, 110 mile round trip. We both went, I sat in the car, he asked if there was any chance they could do mine as well, to save us driving back again. After checking, a lovely nurse said yes, as my letter should arrive any day and it made sense to save us travelling all that way again. We were then able to book our second appointments at the local Centre. All extremely well organised through the NHS. Thinking about how many million people they have to organise for appointments it is very impressive. Think we would have been waiting much longer if it had been organised by our Drs surgery.

Great service DEBSC.Good to see common sense prevailing. I gather that there are always'no shows' - why?! So they have a list of people on a stand by list. A friend of mine who has asthma was rung late on Sunday to ask if she could get there before they closed as they had spare vaccines which needed to be used that day so off she went! Our son, who is clinically vulnerable, got his replacement invitation by text today (the one on Monday having been cancelled due to lack of supply) he texted back immediately but was told that all the appts at his local surgery had gone so he opted for a larger hub 20 miles away tomorrow evening. So relieved for him as he has been shielding for months.

Just to change the subject - it is my birthday today. Having thought it would be a bit of a non event due to lockdown I have actually had a really lovely day with lots of messages, cards and video calls from family and friends. Teenage grandson even made a cake which our daughter socially distantly delivered at lunchtime. 🎂😊

My wife had a text message yesterday inviting her to book her covid jab .So she chose and got one for 7.00pm this evening , As I was the designated driver to our vaccine drive thru the lass with the needles offered to do mine as well , which was a great result as I'm still in my early 60's .👍. We are fortunate in having 2 large vaccine centres in town .

Happy birthday, millie. Glad to hear that you had a lovely day.

Well, OH has received a reply from our MSP's office, they are saying the lack of vaccine at our GP is down to someone else.
I quote.........
" We have made enquiries and here (attached) is the most up to date information which explains the situation.
You will see that the delivery of the vaccine is out with the control of the Scottish Government as it is a contract awarded by the UK Government to a private logistics company who are dealing with the delivery service direct to GPs."
The attachment named the company involved, and also said that, vaccine supplies allowing, our GP will have all over 75s vaccinated by Friday evening, and that in that case I should be contacted tomorrow.
Delivery to GPs here seems very patchy, some have supplies, others do not. The mass vaccination centres seem to have plenty.

Happy birthday milliehull I'm glad you had a better day than you thought.
I knew your birthday was about now, very close to mine Friday. I tried to ask last night but "essential maintenance"
Delighted to say my eye is settling down, still feeling slightly apprehensive about it. Maybe it was migraine.
Dora went for grooming yesterday so I allowed her a very mucky walk Tuesday and showered her down when we got back. (I do this very regularly anyway but I just felt she should enjoy a real free run) Yesterday it was just a road walk and a run on the slightly less mucky open space. Didn't think it was fair on the groomer for her to be too mucky on arrival. She looks beautiful and smells wonderful so definitely only 'clean' 🤣🤣 road walk on very wet ground.
In the early hours of last Sunday morning some delightful folk set fire to 2 5g towers and separate cabinets 😡🤬. Tesco lost all their delivery and click and collect orders for at least Sunday and at least 3 schools, infant, junior and senior schools and the college unable to offer online lessons. Many houses still without broadband. Swarms of BT Van's in the area working very hard to resolve the situation. I counted double figures by one 5g tower.
More grey skies this morning and just for a change more rain maybe snow forecast, we've had none so far, for the coming days.
Late start, I must get going, woken about 0230 by a house alarm which disengaged very quickly, then again at 0550 by an Iceland van reversing outside our house. Didn't wait to see where it delivered to but still too early to get up - now behind myself but it doesn't matter as nowhere to be at a set time!
Enjoy your day folks

Belated Happy Birthday millie - only just seen it was your birthday yesterday
Hope you had a good day.Been a busy couple of days - Meg also at the groomers on Tuesday - and as you say, Bakers, always comes back smelling beautiful! Then Ros for her jab, yesterday and a few jobs on the van in the afternoon. I now have a working power meter which is absolutely brilliant and was only £10 from a certain well-known website!
Been very mild here for the last few days - certainly not even a hint of the snow that others have been having.
Off to the beach to let Meg have a good romp with her friends - she's been confined to just walking around the green a few hundred yards from home for the last couple of days - so she'll be raring to go.
Heard that our local police have been checking people on the promenade - to make sure they aren't visitors - about time as well. There are obviously far too many people still out and about and visiting the coast.

Another dry day here so washing out a bit cooler though,
Happy birthday Millie and Bakers2.
Spoke to a friend who lives near New Milton Hampshire and said the local police went to Mudeford Quay last weekend and fined about 20 folk having a day at the seaside and 1 coupe all the way from Northumberland who had come down for a couple of days Mad or what.
A local friend here said that folks have been walking upto friends house for a meal last week and we have curfew from 6pm.
Take care and stay folks.

I've now discovered that today's grey skies is misty murky fog!
Thank you for the advance birthday wishes RedKite, I don't have any high hopes for the day, but I will tick over into the next vaccine category so hopefully a jab in a few weeks.
Good to read others are getting their jabs, even if there's frustrating waits and communication.
Richardandros oh how I wish we had a beach I could justify driving to, I'd love a real change of scenery on walks.

We haven't been down to the coast, just over half an hour away but feel we can't justify it and it means we're over into another county...would love to go though!
Might do an NT garden visit or a snowdrop walk locally (East Lambrook Manor Gardens) but I found this if anyone wants to venture out to other gardens. Snowdrop Gardens LINK . OH isn't keen to go until he's had the jab now but I'm feeling quite cooped up.
Bakers2 Happy Birthday for tomorrow...🥂
Good to hear your eye is settling down. I had to have a similar check up which was decided as being migraine related (although I'd never had migraines before.) I still get the occasional visual disturbance, often when I'm reading or looking at the laptop screen. It passes quite quickly but leaves me tired and out of sorts for several days. I have a lot of bits and pieces floating around in my eyes so could do without anything extra!
It's damp here today, our ever helpful young man is here doing more apple tree pruning, today a huge tree is having a hair cut, it's a lovely tree called a Morgan Sweet, an early cider or eater.
Hope you get your call up soon KJ, it sounds as though you will!

"oh how I wish we had a beach I could justify driving to, I'd love a real change of scenery on walks"
would love to swop if we could, we can walk to beach in no more than 10 mins, but i do love a good woodland walk, which we do have, but is approx 30 mins drive which we dont like to do just now, and also if the parks in the vicinity are anything to go by the woods will be very very muddy.

Just off to give pooch a leg stretch on the beach, only place available that is not muddy, weather pretty grim, but today is vaccination day so all smiles.

Birthday flowers Millie🌹🌼🌸🌺😁
February fog here today. It’s a Mum day today, so she will have a couple of hours down with us, keeping the dog amused, while I conjure up something for tea.
Hope everyone else is ok, good news on more vaccine appointments, and hope those North and West of the borders get sorted quickly. Our snow has finally gone, but just wondering what the weekend will bring, it looks a pretty white over forecast. Might be on some rescue missions with the Jeep!OH has had no reactions to his Pfizer jab, which is good news.

Happy belated Birthday Millie, and to Bakers2 on Friday.
Hope you hear soon about your vaccination KjellNN, my BIL is 78 (they live near Dunfermline) and diabetic, he still hasn’t heard anything either! Hope little Nathan settles down soon, very early days for him yet.
I agree with all of you desperately waiting to get ‘out’. I’m so, so fed up of walking the streets to go out when a 15 minute car ride will get us to some real space, we have broken the rules and done it once a couple of weeks ago and saw nobody else - unlike walking the streets! Such is life at present. 🥲
We both had the Pfizer jab last Friday and, apart from a headache and a slightly bruised feeling arm for a couple of days, it was all good. Many of our neighbours had the AstraZeneca one so I was surprised when the vaccinator said it was Pfizer; apparently you get given what turns up on the day, fine by me as it’s at least a vaccine and I am grateful for it.

Thank you brue.
Interesting to read about your eye, sounds incredibly like mine. I have had the odd migraine in the past but nothing resembling this. I did think it might be similar to what you had last year. Sometimes I wonder if I can't see but covering the other eye find I haven't. At least I have had it checked out.
Thank you for the flowers takethedogalong, most grateful.
Murky has lifted a bit, certainly not cold, some lucky folks working in their front gardens, my tubs are tidy, whilst dog walking, I'm sure I'll be able to get in our back garden soon. I think I might have solved our sparrow absence, saw the sparrowhawk around the garden in last couple of days, its had a pigeon, I think they and some of the starlings have regrouped elsewhere.

"Richardandros oh how I wish we had a beach I could justify driving to, I'd love a real change of scenery on walks."
And I suppose we take it for granted! It's about a 20 minute walk from home or 5 minutes or so in the car. Have to use the car these days because of my knee problem and the fact that Meg is so excited when she goes for her morning walk, she'd drag me all the way there!

Had my Pfizer jab this morning and now I know what a parcel on a conveyor belt must feel like.
.Done in our local sports hall as all the GPs in the borough have grouped together to staff it and are contacting their patients by phone with appointment times
Security on door check you have an appointment, then pass you along the ‘belt’ to the lady with the hand sanitiser who checks you haven’t been told to isolate or returned from abroad etc. She then passes you on the the computer operators (4 of them) who check your details and give you the vaccination record card then pass you on to the first volunteer who directs you to one of the 2 vaccination areas (each one has 9 booths with 9 nurses).
Second volunteer directs you to a seat (3 rows of 9 seats corresponding to the 9 booths) and you are called in for your jab in order.
Then it’s on to the third volunteer who shows you to the waiting area for your 15 minutes before you can go. Hand sanitiser person again at the exit and done and dusted in less than 25 minutes.
Lots of staff, very busy but amazingly well organised and every time you move someone rushes in with the spray to clean the seats.
Didnt feel a thing either which was much better than the Shingles vaccination is got Monday of last week - that hurt and arm was still Red a week later.
Going to spend the rest of the afternoon looking at new camper vans on Google and dreaming of summer.
