OH says our booked Easter trip is unlikely to be possible, but June/July looks possible.

Underlying conditions.......I have high blood pressure (on pills), Hyperparathyroidism (more pills), and triple heart bypass in 2015.

NHS has spent a fair bit on me already, would be good if they protected their investment by vaccinating me!!   I hope to have many useful years ahead of me, my Mum lived to 98, even with Angina.

Been a gorgeous sunny, but cold day here. I did both pooch walk, while OH wrestled with dishwasher and putting kitchen BACK together. Had my first big afternoon in garden today, so many bulbs coming through now. Hellebores and snowdrops out, but everything else is being sensible and staying under cover. Doesn't half cheer me up being able to get into garden.

Glad you got your vaccination Francis, how quick is that, well done your surgery!  We had the Pfizer one last week but many neighbours have had the Oxford one and apart from a headache and a slightly sore arm they have all been ok.  Hopefully you’ll be fine.  We have booked some sites for April, June and September and, like others, we are hoping we can get away after our second jab in April! 🤞

We have now booked sites in June and September. We also have a cottage booked in Staithes for July with the N. Ireland family. Fingers crossed 🤞

So glad your blood results were good  Francis. Full steam ahead now for the summer.

Son rang his surgery about his cancelled invitation for the covid jab and and as we thought they have a problem with their supply but they assured him that he is on their list and they will be contacting him as soon as they have a supply.

Good news about your dishwasher TDA. We were without one  for about a week a couple of years ago - it wasnt a good week ☹

Good to hear mother and baby are home and doing well, Kjell. Hope you get your jab soon.

Lovely to see the Otters, TG, you lucky person you.

Glad to hear that many more are getting their invite for the vaccination. Just waiting to hear when we get our second ones now.

Lovely fine day and thankfully a bit warmer than the last two. Walking with Flyte was a real enjoyment today.

Hope OH hasn't misdirected the pipework, tda.wink

Millie, we too had a book shop today, but it was on Kindle as it was Monthly Deals day!!😁

Millie, we have Ferry Meadows booked for April. Cathedral is on our list, be lovely to say a proper hello, all depending on how lockdowns, tiers, jabs and case rates go of course.😁

OH got his letter today, so we spent quite a while trying to book a slot online.  Very frustrating, 4 times we selected a suitable venue, picked both dates for 1st and 2nd jab, but by the end of the process computer said NO. One of the dates was no longer available.  So back to the drawing board.  Loads of venues to choose from, but of course some quite a long way away.

Initially picked Blackburn Cathedral, got it booked for tomorrow, success!   Then saw on the news about the horrendous queues there over the weekend and today, apparently 1500 people had appointments there today and again tomorrow.  So cancelled that one, and started again.  Got a slot for Thursday at a pharmacy outside of Ormskirk, on Edgehill Uni campus.  Car parking on site too, unlike Blackburn Cathedral, and a much smaller venue, which IMHO is a good thing from our point of view.

Like brue upthread, after reading of the queue jumpers, I was very pleased OH got his letter.  Now it's me waiting for mine, but as I'm under 70, I'll be in the next cohort.

Pleased to hear your OH got an invite InaD. There seems to be a lot of variation in the way appointments are made, I got a phone call late yesterday from  our surgery, the receptionist made the appointments for both of us and tried to get them close together so we are ten minutes apart. I didn't ask for other choices of venue as I know the one chosen for us would be ok except people are queuing outside in the cold and wet...just hoping the snow forecast changes next week!! wink (No date for the second jab so will have to ask about it.)

Was it the Pfizer jab? it seems because of the very low temps it has to be kept at ,they are trying to use up "left overs" from non arrivals hence late calls?surprised

We had both dates when we booked and both went in together same nurse (OH seated,i was standing)for Oxford jab

I’m sure it was the Oxford one I got and they said I would need the 2nd dose in around 12 weeks so they would contact me nearer the time to arrange that

One of those mornings here trying to sort out some savings...zilch rates and also contact out vets who have been struck down by Covid. (Don't know how far up or down vets were on the priority list for jabs but I'm sorry to hear this news.) frown

Gosh some real variances up and down the country around jabs. We seem to have been so lucky. I did notice lots of folks were turning up at our Leisure Centre early, and were told to stay in their cars until closer to their jab appointment time. We got there a minute before OH was due in, he was told to go straight in, waited inside for around a minute then in he went to jabbing station. LLM might know more, as he is a volunteer.

I recall my friend who was head of nursing in Sheffield’s big teaching hospitals saying that one of the biggest issues with things like outpatient clinics is often just how early some folks turn up for an appointment, sit around waiting unnecessarily for quite a long time sometimes. Then of course the chuntering starts when “later” arrivals get in to see consultant before them.
Difficult to get timings spot on though if travel distance is quite far, and of course anyone relying on taxis, buses and trains has to go with whatever they can get.

I still don’t know why folks used to queue up in all weathers outside a post office though, to collect their pensions, when that was the common way of having it paid. Office never opened early, but folks still did it. Could be social I suppose🤷‍♀️

Banks and BS rates not worth looking at brue, MSE were still recommending NS&I bonds. Hope you get something sorted.

We are using two Vet practices at the moment for our pooch. Local vets, no one allowed inside, vet comes outside in mask, visor to discuss, pet goes inside with them for treatment, then handed back over, pay by card only.  Not sure about emergencies. Other eye specialist vet, wait outside until vet is free, you go in, room is split by a clear plastic sheet, dog and vet one side, me the other, everyone masked and gloved (bar the dog😂) You can help hold dog below sheet if up on table. Pay at reception. And out. Eye vet is Belgian, main job is with PDSA, so he is only available evenings. Lovely man, he likes a chat, hasn’t been able to go home and see his Mum in Belgium for months. None of vets have been jabbed as far as I know. I hope yours are ok, and mend up quickly.

With both any hospital or doctors appointments especially in the last year it has been pointed out that please do not turn up until 5 mins before your appointment, it was also on the letter we got with our consent form for the jab  surprised

Our Vets have three practices, they're all completely shut down for at least another week. We spoke to someone working from home and I presume if it was a dire emergency they'd refer us on to another practice. Our dog was due a booster and we wondered why we hadn't heard from anyone. frown

We have  Marcus, but even that is down to 0.5% now, and are averaging 0.6% on Club Lloyds and BOS Vantage  current accounts, though they only pay interest on up to £5k per account.......according to my financial advisor!

Even the kids accounts are paying very low rates now.

You can get 1.5-2% on monthly savers still, bit more hassle though.

Still no word on my vaccination.

Yes you have to be quick on the keyboard, my letter arrived last Saturday made an appointment at local pharmacy for Thur 4th & 2nd 23rd Apr, so easy walk into village.

On the Sunday  local surgery called inviting me to make an appointment, thank you, told them I had booked both via online system, but asked if my OH could have my appointments, no problem, put OH on the phone, she now has first booked for Sat 6th, 2nd May 1st at local health centre.  cool

I had an NS&I matured a couple of days ago. Despite having instructed them that I wanted to withdraw, they've renewed for 3 years fixed at 0.4%. Banging their desk is the next job after I finish on here.

At last a bit of sun here and 18.5C on our weather station after some very heavy storms and local rivers have burst their banks in some areas.

Did a bit of shopping whilst OH had his 3 monthly blood test  went into the nurses area  just before 8  am and back out again at 2 minutes to 8 and then walked upto our small Carrefour to meet me and I had nearly finished the shopping, back home again by 8.45 am and then breakfast as his test was a fasting one should get results in the next hour online.

They are very slow here with the vaccine  should have been done with 1st jab by end of this month and now looking more like April and 6 weeks later the 2nd Jab so we have heard so far, will not do any planning re holidays here yet but got UK booked for September.

Ros got a text inviting her for a jab, last Friday, and she goes tomorrow.  According to the on-line calculator, I can expect mine anytime between now and the 11th, but I'm expecting the call in the next couple of days or so.  We are quite fortunate here that this part of Yorkshire seems to have the highest rate of vaccinating in the whole of the country.  Let's hope that the vaccines don't get diverted again.

If this is the NHS website it must be pretty basic. We had lots of false starts and ended up with appointment two hours apart! The website is simple to use but given that you have already put in your NHS number and date of birth it should then reserve your selected appointment until you confirm. Imagine booking a supermarket delivery and entering all the goods you want and then going on to pay for the delivery only to be told that slot has already been taken!!! There is also an option to get an email confirmation, we are both still waiting for them!!! Given the task in hand I do have some sympathy that perhaps there has not been time to develop a more up to date interface.

Nice to hear you've got some sunshine Redkite...hope you get some news about your jabs soon.

KJ we've just come to the end of of a rate similar to the one Marcus was offering and the new rates are similar everywhere you look...in other words minimal.  Unfortunately Marcus aren't open to new customers wanting to save.

It took such a long time to go through all the passwords and security calls that I lost the will to gain £10...it's hardly worth it. wink

KjellNN could you not find some reason to get an appointment with your GP and in the course of the conversation mentiom your concern over lack of commumication about your vaccine, or even just ring the surgery and ask? Our son rang his surgery yesterday to find out about his and at least found out the reason for the delay and they put his mind at rest that he hadnt been forgotten.

They are doing nearly 500k vaccinations per day so yes very busy and slots do go very quickly

"There is also an option to get an email confirmation, we are both still waiting for them!!!

not a problem for me even had a text message as welllaughing

P.S. DK did you get a booking reference and did you print that page, only ask because some people have not been hitting i think it is "save" to complete the process and as a consequence the process has not been completed and in fact you have no booking, hence no email ?????mine was almost instantaneous text also ???
