We were interested in watching the new Danish drama "The Investigation". We have record the third episode so thought we would watch the first two on catchup. Tried the Humax box but no sign of iPlayer!!!! Had to turn it off and turn it on again and it appeared. Modern technology is not yet perfect! Not usually bing watchers but did watch the first two episodes so can no rely of the recorded ones to finish the series. I quite like these foreign language series but you do have to pay attention to the subtitles! Another favourite ended last night, Spiral the French crime drama. At least with that I can understand a bit of the spoken word.

Where is every body? it is not that cold out ,but no walkers with or without dogs ,out today when out with Rosa although the main road into town was ,it seemed had more traffic than a weekday?,we had to cross it to get to a lane (rat run)that has been pedestrianised also a cycle way its a good job they have installed a "refuge" halfway across the main road ,otherwise we would never have got across to have a walk round our lake(the one you can see from the train when it crosses the viaduct on the way north from KX
Ps just popped up on Headlines Capt Tom tested positive for Covid and is hospital with Pnuemonia

OH stood by the kitchen window earlier today to see if he could spot any birds willing to put in an appearance...1 blackbird, 1 Jackdaw etc one big fat grey squirrel...afterwards we had a good dog walk as some of the fibre optic cabling has moved on, giving us easier access to footpaths.
Apart from that it's been a very dreary day, torrential rain took over, very cold and dark.OH is fed up as someone has stolen a brand new gate on his club's fishing grounds...we lose a lot of gates round here, they seem to be easy pickings even if it involves a trek across fields and sawing through metal bars! Gates go missing in the local country park and from people's gardens too. If anyone offers you a nice gate be suspicious!

Yes I have just seen the news about Captain Sir Tom Moore as well. Very worrying. I wonder how he caught it as his family are so careful with him. Best wishes to him.

yes very sad, fingers crossed for him

Yes, good news here, now home and just had dinner, it has been a long day.
DD was finally hooked up to a drip at 02.00 this morning, SIL was summoned to the hospital at 07.00, and baby brother arrived at 10.47.
A little small, 6lb 13oz, as he is almost 3 weeks early, and his breathing is a little under what it should be, though the doctors have said this is very common in babies born a little early. If it settles down, they will be home sometime tomorrow, if not, he may need some antibiotics and a longer stay would be needed for both of them.
We stayed overnight to look after Callum, SIL came home about 14.30 so we asked if he would be OK on his own overnight, so we could have tonight in our own bed. The sofas are comfortable, but there is nothing better than the bed you are used to!
I think his mother was coming over with some dinner for him, and to help with Callum. We will return tomorrow as he cannot take Callum with him to the hospital. Before we left, I put the base for the baby seat in his car for him, quite a tight fit with 2 children's seats in the back of his Polo!
Very sad to hear about Captain Tom.

Well that was the weekend that was, last week I had a catch up with the neuromuscular nurse saying that things were controllable with my son, how wrong was that! His tummy went up like a balloon on friday, had about 3hours sleep over the two nights, changed his meds a wee bit and things have stabilised but a worrying time as in the past it would have ended in hospital!
Tried looking out for birds for the bird watch. Not a thing despite having numerous bird feeders, and water for the wee souls.

Sorry you've had struggles and not much sleep Robsail, hope your son's system settles down again, very tiring for you.
I've just filled in our birdwatch, quite a few birds in the end but nothing like we'd get on a good day. Just a few hundred yards away there was a huge chattering flock of Fieldfares in the trees.
Pleased to hear your news Kj, you must all be tired too, hope the new arrival thrives and the family can get home safely. Congratulations!

Good news KjellNN. Congratulations to everyone. I hope mum and baby will soon be safely home. Have a good nights sleep. I have a feeling you are going to be busy in the coming days!
So sorry to hear about your worrying time with your son robsail but so pleased you managed to keep him out of hospital.

I’m planning on a trip to Norfolk (Fakenham) late August, for around a week. I’m also considering a stop-off for a few days somewhere vaguely in the direction of Bristol to break up the journey home. I was thinking maybe Nottinghamshire? Elsewhere? Looking for nice/peaceful countryside (good for walks), places of interest/towns/NT properties not too far away. Although not essential, my preference would be a CL, with electric and toilet. Any ideas anyone?

I suppose it's a Glass half full scenario. This time last year you may have wanted a hospital visit to help sort the problem out but these days.... Good luck.
Congrats to Kj., although I think DD had the harder job.😁
Will have a think Freddy.

Did you mean Bristol?

Have a look at this site, Freddy. We stayed there many years ago when it was a CL - they've obviously made a lot of investment since then. Good walks, can't just remember the details but walking from the site through the village you get to a hillside village with great views over Nottingham. Worth a thought?

Enjoying about 48hrs off but really looking forward to getting back to my little volunteering job helping others get their jabs. It is strange, almost unbelievable, how being inoculated is making so many smile. It's a great feeling to see the hope it is giving everyone.

Hi Freddy.
Try Barn Farm (number 867 in SD), just a couple of miles outside Grantham. Lovely CL, on grass but we''ve never had a problem. You have both Belton House and Belvoir Castle nearby plus the canal for walks. They may even have the proposed Statue of Maggie built by then.😨

Worrying for you robsail, good that he’s not had to go into hospital though. Hope the improvement continues.
Congrats to all K, another grandson. Hope things go well for you all as well.
Fingers and toes crossed for Captain Tom.
OH had his first arm plug today, in and out in 20 minutes. They are catching a few with the Pfizer here, so that every precious drop is used.
Sorry to hear about the gates brue. We used to have similar with our horse field. Locks were always being glued up as well....small minds, as well as crooked lives.
New dishwasher arrives tomorrow🥰🥰🥰 I did a Sunday roast meal for four today, and the glamour of washing up by hand has definitely worn off.....even though OH actually did it😉

Nottinghamshire seems rather a detour North for you Freddy🤔 I was going to suggest a CL called Monks Barn Farm, which is not far from A46, but it’s going through a change of ownership at the moment and not taking bookings. There might be another CL around there, close to NT Hidcote Gardens. Unless that’s too far in a day from Fakenham?

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, Freddy. You will have to tell me what you think of the album's once you've listened to them a couple of times.

Good news, Kjell. Hope everything goes well from now on.
Sorry to hear of son's problems and it must be a very trying time for you all. Fingers crossed that things will continue to improve.
Such a shame about Captain Tom. Hope that he pulls through.

Late night tonight ,just watched how a few are trying to save whats left of our Perfect? planet, and had a quick look what else we could watch and have come across Three hours of the Eagles on Sky arts, so thats it for tonight

Nottinghamshire is a lot closer to Bristol than Norfolk 😉 I only suggested Nottinghamshire because we’ve never been there before. We did actually visit Hidcote Gardens last September👍And yes, a bit too far.
I’m quite drawn to M’s suggestion, given the lure of the Alpacas. M, the website definitely says it’s a CS? I might have to give them a call to clarify. Thanks again all.
