Been in the garage to cheer myself up and have made a small goblet for our next (on line) club meeting. Barley twist stem, finished in wax over oil.
Some spalting on one side.
I think it may be ash from a tree that fell down at the guide hall several years back.

Re vaccine. My thinking is that there were always going to be issues, with supply and particularly distribution. Regional differences reflect this. There will always be discrepancies, but the overall situation (doses given) seems to be progressing quite well, I think.

You are right KJ it seems to vary in different areas . We know a lot of people in their 80s who have already had the vaccine. We are in Ayrshire and both in our 60s and I got a letter today from our local surgery advising me that I will be getting an appointment next week some time but this is due to a long term health condition so not really to do with age as SWMBO is in mid 60s too but has had no word and isn’t expecting to get it for a while yet.

Apparently Greater Glasgow health board have decided all over 75s are to be called by their GP. Our GP has said they will phone when they receive supplies of vaccine, so I can only conclude that they have not received supplies.
Meantime, less than 1/2 mile away, they are starting, presumably on the 1st, since OH has an appointment for the 3rd, to call the 70-75s to the local hub and have sent out letters with date and time.It would really be more sensible to vaccinate similarly aged couples at the same time, save extra trips when we are supposed to be staying home, but at least, in an area, they could stick to the order of the groups that the FM keeps reiterating.
I will just have to send OH for the shopping meantime!

He was like death on four legs, bit everyone who came to house and tried a friendly stroke. he had the most amazing long upper fangs, they stuck out down his mouth, so he looked like a miniature sabre toothed tiger. His teeth were always weapon of choice, but he was handy with his claws as well. He landed me in A&E one Cornwall visit. i had him on a halter and lead for his last midnight walkies. As I picked him up he struck with teeth and claws. OH had to extract each claw from my hand, he was so deep. Rings off immediately, my hand was swelling so bad. He could be very loving as well though, it was the unpredictability that caught everyone out

Good news that you got your windows fitted before the rain returned WN. We are forecast more snow and bitterly cold weather at the weekend. They said the weather is 'changeable' which I think is a bit of an understatement!
Having not had any post for over a week a little red post van arrived this afternoon and the postman handed me a bundle of 7 days worth of post. None of it contained any cheques though

KjellNN beautiful.
Wherenext glad your windows are in and the rain held off.
Freddy sorry to read you've been poorly, hope you're feeling better now.
Lovely photos of cats and a dog 😉 folks.
Been in double figures here today, sun and a breeze felt rather spring-like- please can it be the same tomorrow? New boiler going in 🤞. I've dug out the fan heater from the motorhome stuff, I was thinking no worries lounge and gas fire - then I fell in the gas will be off!
Dog delivered to her sugar daddy and family. Really excited cried as we drove into their road! Quick chat on the doorstep, one day we might be able to do ther than exchange facts?? Can't talk about the neighbours 😉Dora cried as we said goodbye and the door closed, don't think it had latched securely when she stopped! I had no worries, in fact its lovely to have an evening without puppy entertaining or ensuring shes up to no good, she's defo reached that stage 😤. Friend phone as we were driving home to reassure us she was just doing it for show and was happily playing and being spoilt.
Driving back got warning of low tyre pressure for 2 tyres so popped into City Tyres as I passed and the nice guys checked them all. Apparently slight tiny cracks are appearing nothing to worry about yet, think I had the new enthusiastic apprentice first 😉 but watch them, known with Michellen tyres so they told me but great wet grip, just as well with the weather we've had, not that I've added many miles...... Turns out the tyres manufactured in 2017 but fitted on late 2018 car and I've done less than 12,000 miles. Oh well as soon as motoring is on the agenda again I'll get new ones.
Washing dried on the line, smells wonderful.

Well good news on the vaccine front but a bit of a journey. OH 77 yrs, received his letter today. But when he went online to book appointment 10 miles away, it came back that No available appointments. The only available venue 55 miles away, so booked that. Could have waited for GP but as yet they haven't been able to get any vaccines. Just hope when my letter arrives, hopefully soon, we don't have to do another 100 mile round trip. Just grateful to get them done.

Sorry to hear that you've not been well, Freddy, and hope that you are much improved now.
I'm not sure if you can find them on Spotify. They are associated with the author Phil Rickman (Phil the Shelf from Radio Wales) who has written a series of books based around The Welsh Borders, the Merrily Watkins series, and one of the characters, Lol, is a folk singer. The group and albums are a spin-off from the series and can be purchased through the Phil Rickman web site.

You'll have to send in a letter of complaint.....can't have substandard work can we?
Good to hear that they got the work done, hope that your roofer is as efficient.
Horrible weather this morning so it was 2 wet walks. Fortunately it dried up at lunchtime so our afternoon walk washing the dry but it looks as if the past one will be another wet one. Getting a bit sick of wearing my wellies most days.
Have now booked 6 CLs for our, hopeful, Spring trip, and waiting for another response before trying to book any more. With all the talk of sites going to be full we've decided to book as many as we can, instead of trusting in finding ones as we move on.

They say a day job, straight swop, but not same make of boiler so fingers crossed. I have laid it on with a trowel that OH vunerable and blood thinners means he really feels the cold! Have turned heating off don't want to waste warmed water. Alarm on arrival expect 8am or before knowing them!
When we have sealed units replaced during the brief unlock last year, the guy wiped over the replacements - wished he hadnt, lord knows what he used took me ages to get them streak free. The lovely sun showed they need doing again 😤 why does nothing last?
Been nice and peaceful without the dog, watched Windemere, recorded it yesterday BBC 4 thought it a bit twee in places but the very end made me cry 😢. At one point a dog barked and I shot up thinking she needed out 😂. She has her bed in our room but not allowed on the bed, but does join OH when I've gone down and will stay there until I try to shift them both. She got his Gene's............
Just for a change it's raining again. Possible snow forecast for weekend.

You lot do seem to reporting animal behaviour accurately I think !
Ambled up to Aged Sisters on Tuesday after a bit of shopping and a short drive to bolster the van battery. Only went in to see that she was as well as she said, very short chat, took the mags from the bag & felt a sharp pain in right thigh -- her blooming cat, Alfie, was on the settee and demanding I sat & made a fuss. Did as instructed and cat sat on my knee for all of thirty seconds then jumped off & went to see if breakfast had been replaced Grrrrrr. Got home safely without having blood-stained trousers but it still stung

Take care, stay safe, Keep making the fire-lighters

After a wet and windy day yesterday, it's much better today - so on with more hedging (for those that work outside). I'm sort of making dinner (rice pudding in the oven) and whiling away the time by doing nothing constructive.
We don't have pets - just farm cats. Three at the moment. Two of them just arrived one day about 3/4 years ago. One was in a bit of a state - scruffy, bent tail, torn ear and wheezing. We gave her a very small dose of a long lasting antibiotic (Alamycin) and she stayed in the back of a shed for a few days them emerged more or less OK. She's not the smartest cat in the box, but knows she's onto a good thing here.
Her almost look-a-like sister has tried to rule the roost since she arrived. She's a good hunter and is particularly fond of my husband. When he goes out at 9.30 - 10 at night to check the stock, she follows him round.
The latest arrival is a black and white neutered male, who is looked on with great suspicion by the other two. He won't be touched, but is waiting with the others on the step at feeding time. We know where he's come from (and he's been taken back once, but we don't really mind him.
Here's Queenie.

Number 4 grandchild seems to have decided to arrive a bit early, due date was 18th. DD had to visit hospital this morning as her waters broke late last night, though no contractions.
She rang the hospital and they said to stay home if no contractions but to come in for a check this morning, which she has done, and is now back home, still no contractions.
However, in this situation, they want the baby to be born within 48 hours, so she will be back in hospital tomorrow morning at the latest, to be induced.
MIL is on standby to come at 5 minutes notice as they stay nearby, and we are to take over later in the day.

Me and my Victorian chair upholstery job have had a day looking at each other...as I peeled back another layer I coud see some very old fabric underneath, I was hoping for some calico and a neat job done by a previous upholsterer but no, only the top bit has been done professionally. I have little painted picture of my Gt Granny sitting on this chair with two baby great Aunts so I hope I can do a decent job...back to ebay to buy some wadding! 🤥🔨

Boiler in and working well 👍. 2 guys here just before 8am, even had a text to tell me they would be here in approximately 20 minutes . They were gone about 1130 OH said I had to go to optician for an emergency appointment.
Very neat clean and tidy job. New boiler slightly longer than the one it replaced so had to lose the floor of the wall cupboard it's in, now need to find home for bits, mainly bin liners and sandwich bags now! They used existing flue hole and had to put in condenser pipe, he reckoned our walls were VERY solid, we laughed. Made very neat job of filling inside and out, even had black external pipe to match existing. Extremely pleased.
Tomorrow new toilet should be exchanged for existing.
Been referred to hospital as /emergency but may not be called as she'll send photos, just a precaution as Wednesday's floaters have changed and she's not too sure about a mark...... Fantastic service, saw different optometrist today and she was a thorough as Wednesday's chap. More drops so no driving. Luckily Dora's sugar daddy's youngest sister drives so returned her after her night away.
KjellNN exciting times hope it all goes well and you're comfortable in your accommodation 😉
