Grey and damp here again sigh.............

Did a Gibson jigsaw yesterday and enjoyed it only 250 pieces, picked it up brand new from local fb group. We have 2 x 1,000 piece ones but they are going to by much harder, one is of the big 5 beautiful individual head shots, surrounded by black 😯. I like something uplifting

Plumber came back to me yesterday, from the photos I thinks he can secure a straight replacement 😀 and possibly fit Saturday afternoon, so not expecting it to be an extended job 🤞

Enjoy your day folks, only routine stuff going on here.

Spent my 2 hours on duty at the Cathedral yesterday. I only go in once a fortnight at the moment. It was good to get out and see people which consisted of the guy I am on duty with, the security guard, the verger  the cleaner and 5 people who came into pray including one chap who suddenly decided he would go up into the pulpit and preach to us all surprised. The verger and the secirity guard dealt with him 😇.

What wonderful woodwork. So talented. It must be so satisfying working with wood. I am always drawn to the woodwork at craft fairs.

    The snow suddenly disappeared overnight.

Wow!!  Just love the Windsor chairs richardandros, I have always hankered after one.  You are very talented to make them, well done.  Also the wool holder HD, it looks excellent and a great idea.

    Hidden talents on here!

We have a neighbour who does wood turning. I know he's happy when I hear the machine going in his garage. He took some of our cherry wood when we lost a tree. We also have a big wood yard not far away, very popular with many.

TG and the hats, they sound good too, your machine has sprung into life!

Millie, it must be good to get out, even just once a fortnight! smile

Great photos of the wooden items  gosh what a talent showed them to OH they look superb but not his thing shame I love the Windsor chair, OH did do a new wooden top to go on top of an old unit I picked up and did a good job on that, he is into electronics  so a few new useful gadgets have been installed around the place.

Had a very sharp frost yesterday and today back to dull and damp and not looking good for the next week or so roll on Spring.

Take care and stay safe folks.

Beautiful wooden items, such talented people. I would love to be able to do projects like that. I always wanted to be a carpenter. At school I asked my Headmistress if I could do woodwork with the boys, she said,' don't be so silly, you're a girl, when you leave school you will either be a typist or work in a shop, what good would woodwork do you'. Imagine saying that to a girl today! She put me straight into the typing class. ( I passed my typing exams with distinction but I was neither a typist nor did I work in a shop)

I do the same brue, we took down a few garden trees, plus our gardener is also a tree surgeon and brings me interesting more "exotic" chunks that he comes across.   I have a large stash in the garage now, no room for more, plus a large log store, plus a few more fancy bought in blanks that I keep indoors.

Not doing a lot of turning right now as it is too cold in the garage, and have rather neglected it over the  last couple of years while working on DD's house, but I have a good collection of items taking up a couple of cupboards, which I really should put up for sale.  Getting round to actually doing that is the problem.

Must make more effort to do it before OH hides the garage keys!!

I (78) am still waiting to hear about  my vaccination appointment, having received a text a week ago from our  GP saying they would be contacting me soon,  but  that OH (72) would be sent her appointment from a central mailing place.

Yesterday, OH got her "white envelope" , so now has an appointment for her vaccination, 3rd February at the local Leisure Centre.   That is a week today.    At this rate she will get hers before me!

KJ, things seem so variable, our two very frail elderly neighbours have only just had their vaccinations. No-one round here under 80 has had an invite yet.

"Yesterday, OH got her "white envelope" ..."

Lucky her! We haven’t had any post for over a week now (apparently 50% of delivery personnel are self isolating) and it's only been about once a week since Christmas. I'm sincerely hoping our surgeries are not relying solely on the post to send out invitations!  yell

So much for the fanfare that all over seventies with get vaccinated by the middle of February!!! No letters yet for either of us. I have even checked the surgery website no mention of COVID vaccinations. MK Hospital has been doing them for about a month now  and some surgeries in MK are calling people in. If nothing by next Monday I will ring the surgery, not that, that is always productive!

Yup same here, not that i am too bothered, yes it would be good to have some added protection if you should become infected, but having the vaccine is not going to change the way we live just now, and as it will likely be the end of April before we get the second shot, not expecting much to change until then.

They were supposed to be sending out the appointments in special blue envelopes, which would get priority delivery, but the blue ones are delayed so now using white, also with priority delivery, instead of the usual NHS buff ones.

Our mail delivery has also been quite variable, but the white one does seem to have arrived on schedule, unlike my phone call!

We too doubted that all over 70s could be vaccinated by 15/02, as promised, so were surprised when OH got her appointment for 03/02.

My message said....do not phone the surgery, we will contact you.......so we shall see.

Truly, it would be oh so very nice if there was a single, simple nation wide system for Advising &/or Booking C19 Vaccinations,  sigh.

My invitation came onto my phone giving me the site for me to follow, and accept, the already stated,  time n date as well as whereabouts. Followed by a reminder afterwards of what & where I was booked in.

    Complied Happily  smile

A week later, after the jab, I got the fone call saying my meds were ready for collection at my local pharmacy. Put warm coat on picked a suitable carrier and headed for the door only to find that NHS had sent me a letter ( From some NHS office in Bristol ) asking me to book my First vax if I had not already had it undecided.

It's not worrying me now, 'cos it's 14 days since the jab ( almost to the hour )  and the protection should have started building up by now  laughing

Looks like rain tomorrow. Damn.sealed 4 new windows being fitted. Still, I suppose it's not the first time they'll have done it in the rain.

Spent the last 2 days getting rooms ready bit by bit. Mrs WN not a happy bunny. They're arriving at 8 in the morning.laughing

All of the over 80s in the close have been jabbed now and a few in the 70s. They seem to be doing them in alphabetical order. How quick can you get your name changed by deed poll?smile

A lot of remaining ice this morning, slowly disappearing as the day wears on.

Asked a local about his wife who has been in hospital for a while now after several falls. They moved her from the main hospital in Wrexham as Covid is rife there to a smaller community one, where she has caught Covid. Can't win can you?

Similar to my MIL except they tried to move her to a community hospital when she was still covid positive and had been for almost 4 weeks ,they said she would not be contagious and she was asymptamatic, she spent 6 hours waiting for transport, 1 hour to take to community hospital in the back of ambulance, community hospital doctor would not accept her so they sent her back to Stoke Mandeville, as of yesterday she is covid negative and now we must wait until a bed becomes available again in the community hospital, yellshe is 94 and almost blind. The nurse at Stoke Mandeville was in bits when OH spoke to her, not their fault, everybody is under pressure.  frown

The main roads were clear ET but the village roads, particularly those not on through runs were hospital visits to A&E waiting to happen. We're about 500 feet above sea level, you are a bit nearer to the salt air.

Had a call today for mine on Saturday. Asked if I could do a BOGOF and they agreed as OH is in the 75+ group.

Gave the MH a wash down today as the muck was building up because of the substantial rain interspersed with bits of bright sun. The roof had enough algae to keep a couple of marine iguanas going for a week.

    ☹️RIP Dishwasher.

    🤔(10 second pause)

🤩Hello brand spanking new dishwasher. Monday.

That didn’t take a lot of thought. It was misbehaving again this morning, we took it apart, did a Google, parts not cheap, plus it’s a guessing game to diagnose exact fault, and it blew fuses twice, so a safety decision as well.

Well, you gave it a chance TDA. smile

We are making progress with our kitchen painting (that's the Royal "we") I just get told to watch out for the paint on the doors etc. The main part of the kitchen is done, now the outside entrance nearly finished, next the horrible bit, a little boiler room which contains the washing machine, it will need to be dragged out. We have never painted this area, it's white with a hint of age! The worst bit will be the floor, we've left it till last in case we ruined a new one moving things around etc.

Apart from that grey and miserable, damp and dismal but looks like we'll be compaining about the warm air soon. wink

Grey and damp today, we've still got bits of snow and ice around with a lit mire promised tomorrow.

Vaccinations in our area going very slowly, the GPs are only getting small amounts. Spoke to friend today recently retired GP, she has volunteered to help the vaccination program at her old surgery but they said she is not needed as they are only doing the over 80s. The over 70s and below all being sent to a hub.

Our 95 year old neighbours still not heard anything, they are to be done by a community team coming round doing folk at home. One of them has to go to the surgery this week for Podiatry, her son asked if she could get her jab at the same time. Sorry no that's not possible as she is down on the list to be done at home, it would confuse things. The thing is no one asked them if they wanted to be done at home and no one told them that they were either, communication has been sadly lacking.

BIL over 75, shielding still not heard anything either. On the up side spoke to someone this afternoon while out for a walk they were just on their way to get theirs. I think once the vaccination centres open up here things will go better.

Week 2 of eating healthy, no weight loss yetfrown

No knitting today, shopping this morning for 3 household's. Wasn't to busy today.

This afternoon I cut and permed my hair.

Got our letter today and subsequently an appointment for the jab tomorrow.

I do hope that 12 weeks is correct for the 2nd instalment and not 3 -6 as the manufacturers suggest.
