When out with Rosa at 1600 for her last daylight walk ,still plenty out on the hills with their sledges  , a big snowdog was just being finished when we passed a little copse of trees ,they said it started off as a big snowman but it fell overwink

It was snowing again when i put some bits in the recycle bin just now  but then it would as i cleared the path to the front door after our last 1600 walkfrown

Beautiful sunny morning here. Just wished my BIL a happy Burns night birthday! He's having smoked eel from Somerset, haggis from Scotland Lidl whisky and a chocolate caterpillar cake....followed by indigestion I think. laughing

We had some haggis and neeps on Friday as I noticed the haggis was going out of date....just heard on the radio it probably originated in Lancs (first recipe found there)  but ours came with the Waitrose delivery! wink

Have you still got the snow Millie? We had a little bit more but all vanished now.

Down to -4 overnight, but no snow, and sunny this morning.

OH says we need a day of tidying and sorting paperwork so we can make space to start sewing some curtains for DD, so that is my day sorted.

Yes brue, the snow is still here and looking very pretty in this lovely sunshine. It is starting to drip off the trees now though so I hope the sun does it's work and improves the roads. OH has been out this morning and says the paths are positively lethal. Most of the schools in this area are closed but not the school where our grand-daughter teaches.  She has to come quite a way and made it in OK but didn't enjoy it as the roads were treacherous.  If they don't improve by the time she finishes she will probably stay with our daughter who lives not far from the school. OH is waiting for a telephone appointment with the kidney consultant which should have been an hour ago.  He has just received a text to say owing to the covid rota it might not be possible for him to keep today's appointment but will 'endeavor to ring sometime this week' undecided

Gosh what a lucky escape the driver (and parked cars) had JVB. We usually have the gritter out round here as we are on a bus route but so sign of it last night frown

Enjoy your day of tidying and sorting KjN.

Jolly chilly here overnight, -2. Too cold for snow but a good hard frost 😀. Another decent walk over the estate, the heavily used rutted areas still sinky despite the frost. We also have sun 🌞🌞🌞 which is lovely 😉 but it was softening the frost soon after 9am.

Got another glimpse of the large bird of prey on the estate, I suspect a buzzard, watched it go to small copse and tried to see it, as I got closer it flew again, my foot wobbled and I had to look away to establish my balance at the wrong moment 😤😱.  Further on I saw smaller bird of prey, suspect falcon as curved wings, that flew again before I could get a good look and another from a different tree, a future pair and babies??

Otherwise a wonderful restorative walk, felt at times that I had the place to myself - such a wonderful change than of late, yet a much better morning. Make of that what you will.

Spoken to a chap re new toilet, he can work 😀. I've sent photos as requested so we can discuss. Fingers crossed. Despite mythering for years we only have the 1 toilet 🙁. The additional one to be fitted before 'the lump' was potty trained never materialised. 'The lump' was 32 last birthday, OH still doesn't consider it an issue 😤. As we can't go anywhere hen the work is done I secured a brand new camping toilet from fb for a bargain price to tide us over...........

Must push the vac around and check cupboards for supplies needed and sort order for Tesco delivery Thursday, their website rivals this one at times. I find I've got multiple of items or have accidentally Deleted User things whilst it hangs.

Takethedogalong we have had reasonable substitutes on tesco order, instead of chocolate raisins we had chocolate eclairs, not as fillings friendly! But very nice 😉. But I have to agree tea towels instead of a bed sheet???

Edit JVB lucky outcome with the bus, should you have been assisting? My OH forgets he shouldn't these days!

Our gritters come through regularly, bus route, and did yesterday afternoon and again about 0430  this morning.

Crisp sunny day here. Some of the village roads very icy as gritter not been up them, only on the main arterial routes.

Spent a bit of time clearing snow away from the drive and car as I had to go to Tesco this afternoon for a Click and Collect.

We got our NHS letter today advising about the procedure for Vaccination. It was dated 8th.January. Postmarked London. Not bad for NHS Wales. I assume they contracted the printing out to a London company. Good job it didn't contain anything we don't already know.

Tidying of the sewing area completed, but still some bank statements etc to be filed.  Most accounts are paperless where possible, but our using account and some of our credit card statements are on paper so OH (and DD if we are away) can check on my record keeping.

Also dug out my tax bill as it has, unfortunately, to be paid very soon  🙁

DD rang to ask if I can come down tomorrow to fit the new light switches she has obtained, and change the cording on, and put up, the curtain rail in the new bedroom.  She has put up the blind herself, and the new bathroom blind, but the curtain rail is tricky.

SIL is in school  tomorrow, and she has a hospital appointment, so will just be me there doing stuff.

Talking of Dominic Cummings, (which we were weren't we?), I received an invitation today from an Opticians to make an appointment, pointing out their Covid procedures.

What do you think my chances are that I would be believed if stopped by a local member of the constabulary, seeing as the invitation is from an Optician based in Shaftesbury, Dorset?

I had cause to call into the said Opticians 3 years ago, eerily almost to the day, when down that way in the caravan one winter (remember those carefree days?). I woke up with a badly bloodied eye and they checked it over but they have kindly sent me an invitation to make appointment.

I emailed them and explained that it was a bit far to come from North Wales. It seemed to brighten their day.😊

Yes, I saw a picture on BBC news website of a lad with a sled. Lovely views of the flatlands from the top.

Funnily enough we were recently looking through some albums as Mrs WN was looking for a particular photo to reproduce as a painting and came across one from the top.

We had an adventure today. Took Mum and Sis for an Italian tune up in Jeep, strayed half a mile over County border😱 Beautiful sunny day here, but very cold. All back at ours for a meal, then drop Mum and Sis off back at their home. It’s quite a routine now for us, they come and eat a couple of times a week. Gives Mum a boost just having a change of scenery and a play with the dog. Enjoying some different meals, it’s nice to share recipes, and try them out on others. I have a Waitrose order as well, no idea how I managed to get one, but ping, you have a slot. Had to put a bottle of Tia Maria in basket to check out😇 I shan’t get much, but it’s good for some more unusual stuff that Tesco and Others don’t stock. Sharing order with Sis, so we will easily hit the minimum spend.

Might be marmalade day tomorrow, depends on OH, he is chief marmalade maker......

We had a text to book our Covid jab today, we have got it on Friday.  With our system we were asked to book the second one at the same time so our next one is 23rd April (so 12 weeks here, unless things change!).

I was rather amused by a recent BBC TV news shot of a jab centre in a cinema foyer.

Above their NHS screens you could clearly see 'Pick & Mix'.

I'll have the strawberry flavoured one please!

Robsail, I did offer to cook a Haggis with the accompaniments for Scottish MiL. She said she didn't like it. I always thought it was compulsory whether you liked it or not.😁

    Happy Haggis Day.

Up bright and early as OH had to be at the dentist for 9:00. Another small snowfall overnight and then that froze, but it was nice and crisp for walking. Apart from our road all the others were clear of snow thankfully. After the dentist, and a quick visit to Morrison's we had a walk along the front by the shore. Drove home, but as it was showing low battery in the car decided on a short drive along the coast road and  another couple of walks. Apart from frozen snow along the shoreline nearly all the rest had gone and the temperature got to the dizzy heights of 6 C.

I like haggis, but OH does not.  She does however like the neeps and tatties, which we have quite often.

Have you tried the "vegetarian haggis"?

Been very cold here the last few days, - 5c over night and -2 during the days. We've not had the snow that down south has had at the weekend though we do still have snow on the gardens, fields and hills.

When we were out in the car on Sunday we saw a couple of teens playing Curling on a frozen puddle in a farmers field, haven't seen that in a long while. Then a bit further on we saw a couple of girls Ice skating, again frozen puddle (size of a pond)

In Blairgowrie we took a walk over the bridge in town, there is a river underneath with a weir, half of the weir/river was frozen solid.

More hat knitting today on the knitting machine, I'm getting quicker now not quite as fast as I used to be but then I'm 30 years older, the shoulders are not what they used to be. I've knitted 7 over the last 2 days and today sold 4 of them.smile

Had a good frost over night with just the slightest skittering of thin snow.

No problems but went into 'Bolero - mode ' on the way back from local paper shop. Did not get any applause tho'  just a burst of laughter with the comment "you're given two flat feet so keep both of 'em on the ***** floor , mate "embarassed

I'm not quite sure if I should feel revulsion or intrigue!undecided Is it legal?

I wasn't offering to help her eat the haggis, Kj, just cook it for her. Fortunately my allergies may have been a help on this one.😁

Thinking of your hat knitting TG, reminded me of the 'ickle hats that were knitted for the premature babies RED, AMBER [ orange ! ] and GREEN to signify the little mites state of Health. Wonder how the East Anglian Hospitals are doing for 'em now  smile
