Not  much cover other than on the grass and footways outside. Melted of drive and just melting as it hits on the roadway.

Just hoping that the birds don't empty all the feeders anytime soon. They are eating us out of house and home smile

They both had the astra z, I assumed they'd be using up the pfizer for the day. Apparently it was due to the manager thinking it wouldn't make any difference to the stats...I expect there are loads of "stats" to deal with every day, some on a much bigger scale than a local surgery.

Heavy frost here and bright sunshine. We've got snow forecast later. Going to make a big fat-less sponge to use up eggs that are going out of date...old recipe from "Aunty" on farm in Cornwall. She typed out her best recipes for me and I still use them but it took me years to buy a Kenwood like hers, we thought it was so modern at the time! 🍰

Same here ET, garden is full of birds, and squirrels! We have counted six squirrels at one time in last few days. It is lovely watching everything though, cheers you up no end. Should be Big Garden Bird Watch at end of month I think, so we are looking forward to counting what turns up. We have feeders both front and back of house, get different visitors calling! 🙂

Yes, they'll be so well fed they won't turn up for the bird watch...thats my theory as we never see our usual ones on the day. The Robins are really singing their hearts out just now.

Same here. Hardly see a bird on birdwatch day. Days leading up to it often around 15 species. It is almost as if they hide on purpose.

Ditto for most, but warmth from sun was ok, sat and watched the world go by for a wee while this morning, not many people about as yet, but will be busy PM, SAR just coming into land at Daedalus airfield, not much sailing taking place just now so i think they just take it our for a spin most days to ensure it works

Getting quite heavy snow at the moment. Settling on the ground.

Our Energy supplier went into Administration in early December, typically just after Direct Debit went out. Ofgem transferred us to a new supplier, Scottish Power. I've only just received details of the new account with them. Ironic that they couldn't talk to me until I had an account number but I couldn't get an account number until they sent it!!

They have estimated our Gas Usage at 10% of the true amount! So I already have queries with them. I have been advised not to transfer to another supplier, by MSE no less, as my Original supplier owes me money so if I transfer it will get lost in the system. Apparently the Administrator can put the money into the new account with the supplier or might send us a cheque but no-one knows which it will be. Aaghhhhh.....yell

I really dislike dealing with energy companies (and banks).

Lovely sunny day here, 25 degrees in our front room due to sun shining directly in.

Call from DD.........would  we like to come after lunch and take Callum to the park for an hour or two?
So that is our afternoon sorted.  Think she wants some peace and quiet to get on with her painting,  Just hope it stays sunny.   Better go and dust off his car seat and put it back in the car.

So jealous of this sun folk's claim is in the sky..........

Cold and grey again, getting colder as the day ages, now only 2c as against 3.5c at 8am. Still its dry! Decent dog walk, she had a good run and we did road walk checking river levels - full. We both came home dry and clean but still needed a paw wash to remove salt!

Chatted to neighbours seems they should move Tuesday, apparently Covid measures its exchange and complete in the same day now. They've been moving stuff into storage for ages, I guessed so 😉. Both working in professional jobs from home so nowhere to store boxes whilst video conferencing!, and 2 children to educate at home at the mo - certainly don't envy them.....

OH had has jab, I dropped him and sat in the carpark, our doctors surgery, very well organised 4 volunteers guiding (thanked them all and said it wouldn't be so much fun in the rain 😀)  at that point, I was surprised at traffic movement far less than I would have expected! OH said well organised inside and he was 25 minutes which included his walk, slow, to and from the surgery.

    Stay safe and warm folks

Nice but cold here today. We have decided on a work day in fresh air. Team Chop is on log cutting and stacking this afternoon. Good exercise and plenty of fresh air. The canine team member is indoors, he doesn’t mix well with the chainsaw, too likely to head in to grab a stick!😱 Got loads of wood, some aged ready for use, some will go into dry store, some will be stored outside but covered. We have two big stacks at end of garden that will be ready for next Winter.

Bonus of the day, just had a female Blackcap on feeders😁

A perfect winter's day, sunny, cold, but cloudless and no wind. Just a family walk (from home) to Cox Green then along the river bank under the Victoria railway bridge and back for tea and cakes.

I did feel a little guilty as we had cream eggs on the bridge, does that count as a picnic?

I am usually tge same Rocky but have had the rug pulled from under my feet. After 7 weeks of waiting they finally gave me an account number so I have been able to work out annual costs on correct usage and email them. Told them no charge for doing their work.smile Just get DDM right please.

Have also given them up to date readings so no excuses.

We'll let things settle down then look around as there are no exit fees.

I'm glad Ofgem step in if existing supplier goes down so the customer is protected. Actually would have been easier if I had owed them money. Happy to settle up but could have moved myself away straight away.

Never mind, there are worse things to worry about at the moment.

Wherenext I forgot to post 😱😱😱 sorry, not sure if it's any use. I thought of you when I was listening but ...........

Moneybox radio 4 16 January getting your money back from energy supplier. You may well not have any money owing but could be of use.

Glad you seem to be getting somewhere. Have to confess only changed to get gas to same electric supplier Eon , not done so since as seems a lot of aggro from friends who did, and when you go on comparison sites those at the top of the lists are companies I've never heard of!

I've posted on your Ada Lovelace thread thanks for the heads up.

    B2

Thanks for your post but we've been reassured by Scottish Power that we'll get our money back, either as a credit against SPs bills, which is roughly what we now owe them, or from the Administrator so quite laid back about that aspect. I actually emailed MSE just after Yorkshire Energy collapsed and they recommended a waiting game. I use them to check rates etc.

    Glad you enjoyed Ada.laughing

I thought it was just our birds when it comes to the garden bird watch.

I have to say, they're not eating much at the moment, certainly from the hanging feeders, I've not topped up even every other day for last week or more - maybe they're waiting for the count this year??

We had a nice walk in the afternoon sunshine today although the fibre cable layers were still working and everywhere we go there are barriers of some sort...including an electric fence around our nearest field. (sheep, no cabling there.) We took a card and some fishing books to the wife of OH's pal who is in hospital, the appendicitis took a turn for the worse with peritonotis developing. First of all he was in a single room but now on a ward (our hospital lost four Covid cases today.) So not good to be in hospital, even at the best of times, we're hoping he responds to the IV antibiotics. No visitors, his daughter was allowed to drop some things off.

Interestingly although fishing has been allowed during Covid as it's quite a solitary activity and most of OHs club are within walking distance of a river or pond many fisheries have had to shut due to people driving long distances...London to Somerset etc! Just don't understand the mentality of some. frown

Bakers2. I hope you are enjoying your new smart TV. We treated ourselves to one about 18 months ago and love it. We collected it from JL  brought it home and realised we had no idea how to set it up. It was long before this covid malarky so we could have asked one of our 'youngsters' to help but didnt want to admit defeat to them. We called a local chap that we had used before and he came within the hour, sorted all the wiring surprised and set everything up all for the princely sum of £50. We have never told our 'youngsters' so they remain impressed with our expertise 😅!

Yes we saw those reports as well brue. Wherever were they all going to or coming from? It is quite frightening that if they were coming in they could now be walking amongst us.

We saw some people fishing when walking in the nature reserve this week. Looked like a lovely peaceful way to spend the day. So sorry to hear about your friend. I hope he responds well to the treatment and is soon safely home.

Lovely sunny day here today again, very cold overnight -5c it was still -2 when we got up. Once the sun got a bit higher it did warm up a bit and we had a very pleasant walk. The pavements are clear but once you cut across the country paths they are still very rutted snow and  icy, so care has to be had or else you end up taking a fall.

Bedroom now all finished decorated, door rehung, curtains and blinds back up and carpet shampooed. Knitting machine back in there and this morning I knitted 2 hats smile had a disaster ( well 3 actually) trying to knit a black one, it kept getting caught up on the needles while doing the rib. Finally sorted that then when I went to do the pattern, that started going wrong, so called it a day and will look at again tomorrow. I've learnt over the years to just walk away when things are not going right. frown

Good news on all those getting the vaccine, figures today say 1 in10 have been done in England and 1 in 15 in Scotland.

Wee Nicola still saying we are ahead,  most of the care homes and NHS etc (first 2 groups) are done. They seem to be taking their time getting the over 80s going though and they are supposed to be finished by the 5th Feb with the over 70s by the 14th.

GP practices complaining they are not getting enough vaccine. Ours has only had 100 doses so far and most of the others in the area are the same.

Nice photos Millie. I always love trees and shadows at this time of year. Gives me goosebumps.smile Mind you, I just love trees. Special creatures, which is how I see them.

Had a quote back from Roofer. I had to effect some temporary repairs, that is sawing bits off as part of it had come away from the facia completely this afternoon, just before I was due to take MiL for her jab. Anyway we've accepted quote which was roughly what we expected. Bad news is he's booked up for a fortnight but hopefully the area has now been made safe.

It was very busy at the doctors surgery today. Very efficient. MiL found someone she knew to talk to whilst she whiled away her 15 minutes wait. Typical.smile

Stopped snowing just after 3 pm today. The roads are going to be terrible tomorrow.

    Take care everyone.
