What are you all up to

We have been looking at some and although they are hoping it seems social distancing is the one factor that would not make them viable without higher costs
we have had today a UK coach tours brochure and when looking at prices last year and this the prices are all well above what they were last year ,but they have "amended" most so they are "not quite the same?"

its like companies advertise if you find it cheaper we will match or the price or give extra discount?but no one else sells the product with the same model number

I feel defeated today! My delightful sister in law gave me a jigsaw for Christmas. The intention seemed right as it was an aerial (Google Earth) picture of where we live made into a jigsaw. Unfortunately the photograph contains too large an area and is very dark making it almost impossible to see the detail. I probably got 15/20% constructed but today decided I wasn't enjoying it so put it back in the box. I don't usually shy away from a difficult jigsaw but this one was beyond enjoyment!!!

After all of the rain and snow yesterday the roads and pavements were treacherous first thing as we had a frost to boot. (funny saying that when you read it
).However the sun was out and it's done it's work. I've been up to see how bad the gutter problem is and it's bad. The gutter has pulled the old Soffit board away completely. I've made a temporary drain hole and left a message for a roofer as I've noticed quite a few of the old tiles looking rather worn.
North East Wales was hit pretty bad with flooding and poor old Ruthin and towns along the River Dee like Bangor have suffered. What an absolute ***** 12 months some people have had.

Snap again, I gave my American States map puzzle to my sister, I quite enjoyed doing it but she didn't like it all so she's passed it on to a friend. I did another one, an impressionist painting with a lot of sea, it drove me mad!

I'm waiting for a Wentworth puzzle, they are very busy due to lockdown demand so no puzzles on the go just now.

My next challenge is the Gibsons Map of the London Underground which has a white background, should be interesting. If nothing else I will be able to answer those questions on Pointless about lesser known underground stations!!!

Got up to fog and another sprinkling of snow, not the big dump of snow forecast though it seems once again to have missed us.
Easy morning just pottering around the house doing 'bits'
OH has a zoom call every Tues and Thursday morning with the Men's shed, nice to see them all keeping in touch and planning what they are going to get up once they are all released from house arrest

This afternoon we re-hung the door, or should I say OH did, I was just the door holder and screwdriver passer

The sun came out early afternoon and it was lovely, so we went for a walk, a bit blowy but really nice in the sun.
Haven't done a jigsaw for awhile, I think the worst one I ever did was of the night sky
mainly black but it had glow in the dark stars and planets. The baked bean one was fun and one of my DIL bought me a Cadburys one, it had all the makers rappers scattered across it, that was fun but made you want to eat chocolate all the time
Watched the news earlier and saw all the flooding, terrible for those involved, hope everyone on here is safe and well.

You'll then know which stations are adjacent to Mornington Crescent!!

Hope you mend up quickly Goldie, stay away from A&E if you can😱
Interesting jigsaw talk. Sometimes you do find yourself walking away from one. I got two for Xmas. Done one, a 1700’s map of Yorkshire, really interesting. Second one is a Wentworth, Sis found it second hand. They are very good, but what a price new. This one is Old Whitby, so might start it this weekend.
Busy two days here, took Mum to Eye Clinic yesterday, all went well. They have moved the whole of our Opthalmology Dept from the District General, and it is now housed in what used to be our Walk In Centre. Much safer than going to Hospital. Yesterday was foul weather, although thankfully no where near as bad as some folks have had. Today however has been beautiful here. Had a lovely morning with Mum looking at some old stuff, lots of little notes, negatives, newspaper cuttings.
Chilling in front of fire now. Had an urge for chocolate, only to be told Xmas stash is up in attic🤷♀️ Two flights up. Decided I am not that desperate at the moment......🤔

Just had the 3rd snowplough round the street over the course day! There was 7inches of snow at our backdoor, 5 at the front! We are not in the wilds.
Had the text to say that jabs to be provided to those shielding by mid February. Both wife and son shielding so.........dunno if I am included as their carer!

I read somewhere that carers are a priority robsail, although how much of one seems an open ended question. Fingers crossed it happens for you though🤞
Edit, found this, quite a recent update

Hope you all get your jags together, robsail.

Snow cleared in Crewe -- indeed by the time I'd posted that it was here { 24 hours ago } it was more or less over
. but threats of more of everything 'orrid for sometime next week -- typically the crikit test v Sri Lanka starts tomorrow at about four in the morning { no singing puleese
} so all chance of lazy mornings will be long gone when it starts falling

I do hope you all get the vaccine very soon robsail. It seems to be a bit of a lottery at the moment.

I did, but it was a long time ago now.......over 13 years.
When we were having our house built, and doing a lot of stuff ourselves too, all holidays for about 5 years were used doing house and garden projects, and for the next 5 years, holidays away were very minimal, until we bought a caravan again in 1998.
Before I retired I used to wonder what I would do with my time. For the first 10 years we spent 4-5 months away in the caravan every year, OH and DD managed to find plenty of things for me to do when at home, and I took up wood turning, so have kept busy.
The last 7 years have been especially busy with DD buying her first house (rather than staying on in her flat) and then the present house, which has needed a lot more work than she had anticipated! And Callum has kept us busy too.
Today we woke to a light covering of snow, but roads OK, so we loaded up the cot etc for DD. She was away to her midwife appointment and SIL had to go into school for the morning, so after dropping me off, OH headed off to do the shopping.
Really cold standing sanding the cot pieces in the garage, took me ages. Also looked at the "fizzing" light switch and condemned it. Home again by 2.30pm.

Text received to book OH jab. Having it Saturday, not offered a choice of time but fortunately it's late morning so shouldn't be an issue, at our GP surgery.
I did gently ask if I could have mine at the same time but was asked if I'd received an invite. I answered honestly no but the text did come to my phone, so she laughed and said no invite no appointment. The texts/calls do come to my mobile and I think takethedogalong has the same system?, it's a job to know who the recipient is meant to be at times. OH won't use his mobile, I have to remember to charge it and pop it in his coat pocket, more for someone else to use if he gets into trouble.......... Optician texts start with either of our names.
New TV arrived and set up, had to clean behind the TV cabinet whilst the guys were here! Been too frightened to move it myself, even the guys said wow to the nest of wires, now mostly gone 😀. Sadly 🤣DVD player and Wii cant be used on new one, they're all analogue, so no need to feel guilt at not using keep fit DVD's or WiiFit board . Fabulous service, self owned company been around for years, not as far back as Noah being a lad but you get the drift. We had decided on size in early discussions but had a sleepless interlude night before fitting, spoke to owner and asked if possible to bring the larger one as well, no worries! Guys didn't bring smaller one in and as soon as we saw how larger one fitted and looked decision made. As they left OH said aren't you going to pay them? We all laughed and the guys said, no in a few days 'Jack' will send out an invoice and if you're happy with the set up you pay. How old fashioned and what great service is that? Yes I could have got it cheaper, not overly looked, at John Lewis or Curry's etc, but I think even John Lewis would struggle to meet that level of service. The house had yet another good blow through!
New boiler being fitted next Friday, have booked Dora a day stay with her sugar daddy and family, well trusted all round, as I can't imagine keeping her contained in one room would be easy and the guys will want to work in peace without her believing everyone loves her! Got to work out logistics for meals and drinks as boiler in the kitchen, but shouldn't be too hard 😉.
Dry here again slight frost so off to the estate for a good run and good dose of fresh air.
Feeling for those struggling with flood issues.

One thing having to deal with first aid at home has taught me - keep the supplies topped up! We seem to have more stuff we don't need than stuff we do. And, maybe not an ethical way to do it - but Amazon next delivery is a quick and easy way to replenish.
I'm keeping my arm dressed and covered, but letting it "breath" for a few hours in the evening when I'm sitting still.
Today I will be tackling a pile of washing up - with the right arm protected in a long AI glove.

Hope your wrist heals up Goldie like the idea of your washing up glove, reminds me of when we lived in Somerset a local farmers daughter was getting married and reception at home so instead of directions posted on how to get to farm as very rural they put those gloves about a 100 yards apart tied to branches and trees an unusual sight.

Good to hear things went well with the TV B2. Ours is 14 years old but is still in good working order and was expensive at the time as it was top of the range and it’s more than earned its money. We are thinking of maybe replacing it shortly I keep seeing all these new ones and the picture on them just looks a bit sharper so may get a new one soon. Good to use local companies we try to do that if possible too

Lovelyand sunny but very cold this morning but not muddy as ground frozen
This staying home lark is getting more expensive by the day, free standing microwave ,has packed up this morning, so no quick porridge for breaky
runs but no heat

Goldie, that image is priceless😂 Don't forget to sterilise the glove before the AI man calls again! Hope it isn’t too painful, and on the mend.
Its amazing the different skills that you get to use in a situation like this lockdown, reasonable first aid knowledge being one. I did a dog grooming course a good few years ago, those skills have been put to use on OH and my Mum these last few months, with not too much damage done.

Blimey, what a lot going on out there in CT Land today
. I trust the dust has settled everywhere what with new telebox's, poorly microwaves, well stirred up first aid boxes and such. Do so hope you are all coping well with one functioning arm, no porridge, new remote to master etc -- life can be hard with the week end to come as well
And here's me shivering away having trimmed my own beard ~~ Bathroom waste bin now full ~~ might get one of these 'simple' pale blue coloured masks on now without the elasticky ear anchor things coming free. Even my right [ mouse control ] paw is feeling cold, 'cos I've tried to sort out an account with bank but I so very nearly started singing ## Here we go round the Santander Bush ## Now I'll end up with a longer stay on the town centre car park on Monday -- at least I'll use a load of the Bank's sanitizer instead of ASDA's own 'ready-use' stuff

Ah well, JVB, just think of the saving you have made by not being away in the caravan so much!
Our microwave, which was actually a combi oven, freestanding, went last summer, so we now have our son's old microwave, as they inherited a built in one when they bought their present house. OH said we would take it to try, she really wanted a new combi one, so we still have it. She is missing the grill function however, so may yet have her way!
