We had new smart meters fitted back in 2019. Given the date I think they must have been the new versions. We did have a few initial teething problems with them. One weird thing was that the decimal point on the display was in the wrong place and it looked as if we were using ten times the energy we were!!! It took a while to get the display working but we did in the end. Then our energy supplier Co-Op decided to merge with Octopus Energy. No issue with that but for the two years we have been with Octopus we have only had electricity show on the display! Not sure when it will be resolved but it does make me doubt a bit whether swapping between suppliers is any better with smart displays. I have sent numerous emails to Octopus and they told me in the middle of December it would take about two weeks to sort out but 5 weeks later on change. All it means is that I have to do a manual meter reading once a month which is not too onerous, perhaps it's down to COVID.

Yes IOS14.3 but was told by currys that they come with iOS10 and you then have to upgrade, FOC, happens when you go online i guess, like most devices depending on how long they have been on the shelf depends on how up to date they are.
Can I interest you in a mint condition 3rd generation iPad, comes with case

bought a Samsung tablet, reviews say it is as good if not better than latest iPad, 10.4 inch screen.
looked at buying a pucker copy to run on Windows 10 laptop, but 2xlaptops we have, not very old, 1 insufficient RAM, 2nd graphics card too old
. , no wonder peoples houses are full of old technology stuffed in the drawer 0 -
Rufs, gear running iOS10 hasn’t been sold for years. Devices are updated via settings. Connect to wifi and check it.

yes i know re iOS 10 but that is what curries told me, did not believe them but did not want to prove a point as not going to buy anyway.
existing one that is 3rd generation highest software level is iOS 9.3.5, i have that.

p.s. i used to be a software programmer of sorts many years ago when we were using basic and C/C+, then moved into IT/telecoms, ended up working for a Satilite comms provider providing satellite coms for Oil Rigs/Drill ships/platforms , so have been round the block a bit, but still struggling with todays stuff, nearly bought an Amazon tablet, cheap, but before i took the plunge did some research and found they run a cut down version of Android, and guess what did not support Scrabble go.

If you check the Apple website it will tell you what version of software is installed in the devices on sale now. Older ones will not support the latest versions but your Pads need updating to whatever is available for them. By not doing updates you will be missing out on security features.
You seem to have had a very varied career path.

When the 'Bug' first struck last year my P.C. went a bit do-lally so I considered getting a small device as a back up but was advised by the repair man that I'd be better waiting until the panic buying for Home Schooling had ended and prices returned to something approaching normal again. Well I'm still waiting, but at least the old P.C. is working ( fingers crossed ) like a good 'un now so all up-dating plans are on hold still !

Good news about your MIL"s vaccination WN but a bit concerning about the missing table mat.
My vaccine appt went very well this morning. I was very impressed with their organisation and efficiency. Lots of kind and helpful staff. I was out of the house for less than an hour and that included having to sit for 15 minutes after the jab. We were each given an egg timer and were not allowed to leave until it had pinged!! I have had several messages from friends and relations (all in their 70s) who have appts in the next 2 weeks so things seem to be moving pretty swiftly. I hope it keeps up.
We had an email sometime ago inviting us to make an appt to have a smart meter installed but as our meters are over 30 years old and on an outside wall I think we might have a problem. I suppose we should do something about it but we might leave it for a few months.

Welcome to the " Vax Club " MillieH, great news and, like you, I'm hoping it gets better and better as we move towards Easter time !! And I did remember to send them a " Thank You " card - I just have to hope the strain of that is not too much for Royal Mail !!
OOOOO ! Just heard that J R Biden is now U S Boss man ~~
~~ Who would have believed it 1 -
I had the Pfizer vaccine JVB. I was surprised as I thought GP surgeries would be giving the Oxford vaccine. The surgery said they will contact me about my 2nd dose in 12 weeks

Good vaccine news 😀
Had an out of the blue phone call whilst I was about to clear up behind the dog on our morning walk, from GP, wanting to talk to OH, but happy to talk to us both later at home as I was beside a road. At least I got a bit of forewarning so could get my head in the right place! It's all very well them calling you but takes a while to understand accents let alone anything else. At least with an appointment you have time to gather your thoughts and ponder questions you'd like to ask. Actually when we could hear and understand we learned it was that she had followed up her last call about medication and had communicated with OH's cardiologist re his medication. So I was impressed, GP has never followed up when they've said with me 😉. Funnily enough we had a call from the cardiologist secretary yesterday to arrange teleconsultation in early March so I think we'll confirm everything with him before cutting out pills 😉.......
Guy visited to quote boiler early afternoon, apparently simple swop 🤞🤞🤞 and it will fit in the cupboard. Within a hour if him leaving we had the quote via email. Very pleasantly surprised, no Grant's here but no worries. I think I'll say yes tomorrow. At the moment it's all working well 🤞. Apparently Worcester Bosch increase their prices in February so might as well have this year's prices!
Tomorrow our TV arrives and will be set up.
Our house has had plenty of blow throughs and wiping downs yesterday and today. I expect it'll be the same again tomorrow!
Showers day here but not much rain thankfully. Been breezy at times more overnight. I suspect wet and windy walk in the morning. I hope no one is suffering with flooding.
Lovely perfume when opening the back and front doors from the Christmas box, Sarcococca, plants in pots by both doors. Very insignificant flowers but wonderful scent. My Winter sweet smells delicious too but I have to walk down the water logged grass and lift it close to my nose to get the benefit of the uplifting frangrance. It didn't like being in a pot and my only gap to plant it in the soil is too far up the garden to enjoy it, hopefully this wet winter is a one off but I'll have to give much consideration to where it can go nearer the house, but it really needs bears britches removed and I don't think OH will agree to his plant going, plus it's a jolly big thug of a plant 😱

It's extremely windy here and some roads are flooded, I think we get some respite tomorrow. Poor old sheep in the adjoining field haven't got much shelter. Have spent most of the day inside, getting soaking wet on my afternoon dog walk and then watched the inauguration ceremony.

Foggy, damp day here. We had another dusting of snow overnight but we had rain late morning so its not managed to get a grip. We still have snow left on the gardens and side of the roads and paths from the last lot. Snow forecast again for tomorrow, haven't had a winter like this for a few years, they have all been mild.
Morning for shopping, back to doing 3 households again. Shops very quiet today, snow/rain managing to keep folk indoors even if the government can't

Managed to get the final gloss coat on the door, not totally happy with it. Despite new brush, new tin of gloss a good wipe down after sanding, the paint surface has little bits in it
will see how it looks tomorrow when it dries. Heard yesterday that 2 of our 'over the back' neighbours had been called to go for their vaccination today
one is 86 the other 80 but they allowed them to go as a couple, first we have heard that have done that. The FM got a good grilling in Holyrood today over the delay in rolling out to the general public, she got a tad rattled

Glad to hear all went well with your jab Millie, sad time for you though at your friends funeral. I liked the idea of the bulbs what a lovely way to remember her.
Bakers2, we have a Worcester Bosch combi boiler, very good boiler.

Boy, you don't lead a boring life at the moment do you Bakers?
I echo Tammy's comments about the funeral Millie. Nice thought, the bulbs.
It's been very heavy rain all day with roads in and around the town flooding, some even in our village. At this moment in time the rain has turned to snow. Might not go out to the Library tomorrow.
Accepted the quote for the blinds. Nice local firm that we've always used.
We were asked last night when entering Tesco whether we were from the same household. Told them we were but doing 2 different shops, one for elderly person, so no problem. Only time we've been asked.

Thanks , we were given both dates when we booked, after we had a text inviting us to book
The consent forms arrived this morning with covering letter asking us to fill it in an take it with us on Friday
We think there has been a change in this area with GPs as it is now called WGC and Villages practices ,and evidently some services are now shared hence we are not going to our own GP for the jabs ,which is handy ,as it is in one of the town surgeries that is in the same complex as a liddl and Tesco

It took months for our then support to fit the smart meters that were required by our contract with them. The electric one worked fine but not the gas one or the monitor. Change supplier last February, just prior to lockdown so when I asked them to come and sort it out they couldn't because of Covid restrictions as our's are in the house. Have now changed suppliers again so just see if they can arrange for someone to come and sort them out. Hope it will be sooner rather than later, as we'll want to get away as soon a s we're allowed.

Good to hear the news about the vaccinations going on and in the pipeline.
More rain here but not as heavy as yesterday, and even managed our early morning walk and part of the afternoon one without getting wet.
Hope that everyone is safe from the floods. I see that York is close to flooding and that the Keswick caravan site is flooded. There's the chance of more snow for both N.Wales and East Scotland so stay safe one and all.

Gosh it's all happening in your house bakers2 - exciting times!
Not as much rain as expected here thank goodness but areas near the river, especially FM, are inaccesible.

Gee it's either climbing the walls wondering what to do or activity daily, why cant I space it out as things to look forward too? Oh dear that would mean knowing what day of the week it is and the date!
Not heard from son and DIL re water situation, hopefully no news is good news 🤞
Lovely idea with bulbs after you're friends funeral and bottle for a toast a lovely added extra. What bulb(s) was it?

More rain here in S Cheshire, indeed more than we wanted but it stopped about an hour ago ~~ now we have an inch or so of the white n' pretty stuff that the kids love
~~ at least it gives us another, very good, reason to stay home !!0 -
Dull and cold here, but at least fairly dry. Text today from GP to say they will be ringing the over 75s to arrange appointments......soon.......so do not ring them.
However the over 70s will be contacted from some central place, not the GP.
Taking the repaired cot end to DD's garage to sand tomorrow while OH is shopping nearby, also taking some temporary curtains for the new bedroom, and some trousers OH has knitted for a doll Callum is going to get as his "baby", one of DD's old ones which had a hat and jumper, but strangely no trousers!
There is also a light switch in the kitchen to look at as is is apparently "fizzing" inside, which does not sound good. Have told them not to use that light meantime. May need a new one, that will need to be ordered up as they are fancy stainless steel ones.

They were crocosmia lucifer and gladioli with a little note explaining how and when to plant them. Sue's daughter works for Cancer Research as an events manager so is a very good organiser. I shall plant them in pots to start them off and then find a nice spot in the garden. Hope your son and DIL manage their excess water OK. It is dry here today and is forecast to be dry for the next few days (hope they are right
) so that might help.0 -
How lovely, we have that cocrisima it makes a wonderful show.
DIL says they've not had much rain 🤞. Drains and pumps holding up, lost quite a bit of wheat with the Christmas floods.
Pegged my towels out for a blow 😀. Some have some lovely rubber Mark's on 😤. They're back in washing again hopefully it'll come off. I could use some more excitement NOT.
Dry and bright here at present, not blue sky - that seems very scarce here, but it'll do me.
KjellNN theres certainly always plenty for you to keep amused, did you ever have enough time to go to paid work? 🤣

Very sad to lose your friend Millie but hope you enjoy seeing the plants grow.
Unpleasant night here with strong winds and very heavy rain, lovely sunshine this morning! Son has sent a photo of snow in the NE.
Daughter was on whatsapp video yesterday evening telling us about on line teaching and it rang true when a Dad dressed as a Mum on local TV did a funny sketch shouting at the kids to get out of bed as their teacher was on the computer...Our daughter has come up against all sorts of reactions and funny questions following a teaching session. But eye strain is another problem being on line all day. OH would probably say the same about me! 🤣.

Snow. wind, rain and even sun. not a day to be going out (not that i ever do).
I'm taking it easy - yesterday I cut my lower right arm, just above the wrist. a stupid accident involving a delivery box of plastic bags, a wooden trolley and an old mini blender in a carrier bag. i can testify to the sharpness of the blade. My son is a very skilled first aider and dealt with me instead of going down to casualty. Steri strips, dressing and bandage and instructions not to bend my wrist seem to be keeping it closed up. There were mutterings about a splint to force me to keep it straight, but i've been allowed to use my commonsense.
i'm amazed how different it is just using one arm. Hence any errors typing.
Fortunately dinner is easy - just cold chicken to lift out the fridge. We were lucky that i had just finished making dinner yesterday when i had the accident. I was tidying up for my husband's Zoom meeting. Should have left the scrow on the table.

Yes heard on the local news that still more 80s to go than most areas. Knowing how many people retire here it's pretty obvious more 80s and 70s so you would like to believe they had thought of that with the supplies but it seems not. Think us 70+ here will have a long wait.

Oh Goldie 😱😱 follow your medics advice, you certainly don't want an A&E visit at the moment. Seems like you may need some looking after yourself. Is it your dominant hand/arm? Whichever it isn't easy and takes a bit of adapting too.
Good news, the mark's came out of the washing, still all blowing nicely on the line. Still bright, odd glimpse of sun. Really feeling it for folk affected by the weather. So good dog walk, and we've found an playing field that appears to be less used, not telling anyone, so Dora had a great run and we both came back clean 😀 if more than a tad windswept. I felt, well know, my pre Christmas hair cut was VERY drastically short, 5 weeks ago today and I only feel it's getting there now, but turns out a Godsend as didn't meet anyone whilst it was skinhead like and my next appointment has already been postponed until early March.
Accepted the quote for new boiler, after checking the figure as it seemed too good to be true - I expected 4k plus and its nowhere near that! Awaiting proper confirmation but Tuesday or Thursday next week.

Hope your arm heals up well Goldie, good to have those steri strips to hand, not that we have any, perhaps a good idea now. My sister has to patch up my BIL frequently as his skin is fragile but he often ends up at A&E too.
I expect you are pleased to get the boiler under way Bakers2, ours was a reasonable cost as no extras involved, a direct replacement and some new external pipework up to the latest standards.
Debsc, yes I think we'll be waiting longer down our way, too many of us! An over 80 neighbour told us of his trip over the Blackdown Hills to get to Taunton race course, many will probably choose to wait a bit longer till it's more local for them, Taunton has higher infection rates at the moment.
