AnnB,
Your system was very much like the one I used ~ only differences being in the Building used Mine was an ex-teacher training College Library so more corridor and less general space. The Computer operators were each using a different Surgery's links so they could not sneak a " furrinner " past the safeguards. But all things considered they did a blooming great job as far as I could see, even down to the staff monitoring our 15 minute pause before leaving.
Sadly I did not get to study any campervans on any system, digital or real-time

Noticed on TV Red Button that a potty north-eastern footballer had a haircut in his barbers garage ~ very naughty ~ then went one step further & posted it on Social Media. Next time I heard of this he had just had a rollocking and £200 fine ## lucky it was not much much more. However the Barber / Hairdresser had a longer chat with the Enforcers with the result that he was given a second but severe warning as to his future conduct.
As the saying goes :-- They Walk amongst us -- And they Breed

One other thing I noticed, or rather felt, was the atmosphere in the room.
Being used to a general feeling of apprehension or waryness in the local supermarkets it was a joy to see how pleased people seemed, happy to take this step along the road to getting a more normal life again.1 -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes folks and also for the birthday flowers TDA. Much appreciated.
Yes both OH and I found the atmosphere wonderful when we went (to different places) for our jabs. Everyone so cheerful, positive and thankful. We are slowly going in the right direction ABM. over 10 million vaccinated so far. Wonderful achievement.
OH and I were only saying the other day that we would so love to go to the beach and see the sea but it is a journey of an hour away so not possible at the moment. Sadly most of our local area is under water so the opportunities for a good walk are very limited. I do so hope the weather improves as the month goes on.
I have spent the day sorting out our youngest son's old room. I gave it a good (long overdue!) clear out during lockdown 1 but it looked a bit empty and sad and as I have taken it over as my computer room (I grandly call it my 'study' 🤣🤣) I thought I would add a few homely touches. We have put up some shelves and added books that have been sitting around in boxes and also ornaments and a lamp and put up some pictures. All of which have also been sitting around in boxes since we revamped our living room a couple of years ago. Good to make use of them rather than sending to a charity shop. I might spend even more time in there now😅.
Bakers2 I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow 🥳🎂🎉🎊🎁. Happy birthday 💐

Belated happy birthday millie
Happy birthday Bakers
Today my BIL went for his vaccination at the GPs, he got the AZ one.
This afternoon the practice called my sister to say she will get hers on Saturday but not at the surgery she is to attend the clinic at the Dewars Ice Rink
that's great news as we didn't now it had started doing them yet. That will make a big difference as they will be able to do a lot more.Kj, I seem to remember reading that the Scottish government had spent millions of pounds of public money to a private company to handle the vaccination role out.
I hope you hear something soon.Looking at the vaccinations by Council area chart, it would appear West Dumbarton are running at 8.2%. Perth & Kinross 11.9% the top is the Western isles at 15.8% and the bottom is West Lothian at 5% still lots of room for improvement.
Bathroom started on this morning, wallpaper has been stripped, we only have it on 2 walls so not to bad. We don't want to put paper on again though so will have to rub down the walls to get them nice and smooth so we can emulsion them. The plasterwork underneath is good but the surface isn't at the moment.
We've had rain all day, horrible and grey, still have small bits of snow left but the majority has now gone.

Our process was very similar too, Ann, although it was done in a new medical centre. I didn't notice how many cubicles were being used and although I believe each of the local surgeries were booking their own patients and supplying the staff it wasn't any from our surgery that gave me the jab. Lots of volunteers around doing giving the directions, making the doors and the wiping down of seats etc. Very well organised all round.
Hope those north of the border soon get their jags.
Happy birthday for tomorrow, B2.

Still no word from our GP, does not look like anything will happen in the time scale they claimed. Meantime, SIL's parents, age 67and 69, have appointments at the mass centre in Glasgow for this coming Tuesday.
Our local authority is listed as having 14.3% (I think) of adults vaccinated by 31st January, quite high in the listings, so there has been plenty of vaccine available overall, and plenty of people being vaccinated, but seems we in Group 3 have been sidelined
TG.....I wonder if the company you heard about is the same one they claim was hired by UK Gov!
Miserable weather here all day, wind, sleet, lashing rain, and very cold. I finally managed to get the Isofix fittings for the second baby seat fitted into DD's car, it was not easy, and the instructions that were provided were pretty useless.
Having taken much longer than planned, it was late when we were ready set out home, only to find the key remote apparently would not open the car. Suspecting duff batteries, I tried to replace them, but could not get the thing open.
So we borrowed DD's car to come home and fetch the spare remote. Went back down there, that would not work either but did manage to get it open to change batteries, but still could not get the car to open. Finally managed to get in using the emergency "key", and found the actual problem was the car battery, which only just managed to start the car. Much too wet tonight to put it on charge, maybe in the morning.
Today has not been a good day!!

KjellNN,
I'm getting almost blase about flat battery on the Ducato now
.I've got my li-ion booster sitting behind the drivers seat so if the beastie won't start I open the bonnet connect the booster ~ walk back to drivers side and switch to 'Start' and away she goes within 5 seconds. Then disconnect Booster, pack away and drive off happy in the knowledge that I've got another four or five similar start assists should I need them. When I get back home I put the thingy on charge via a 2.1 amp USB for about half an hour, wait for the green light to stay on then pack it away till the next time. And I don't even get my hands mucky

"TG.....I wonder if the company you heard about is the same one they claim was hired by UK Gov!"
Boris put the army in charge of logistics for distribution of the vaccine in England,
"The arms race: New head of Army vaccine taskforce says jabs should be 'in arms, not on shelves' as he vows to use 'wartime' tactics to make sure it is supplied ANYWHERE in England
Welshman Brigadier Phil Prosser is the commander of the 101 Logistic Brigade "
Looks like he has done a good job down here

as i said previously BJ did offer support to Mr Blackford at PMQs this week but it seemed to fall on deaf ears.
Beautiful day here today, thrown all the windows open for a blow thru off out after coffee

Found out all about the police cars and vans up near Mum’s yesterday. Nice where she lives, right on edge of rural area, so not much traffic, very quiet. Excitement is usually someone forgetting to lock gates on local allotments. So, into this bit of tranquility,(mainly elderly, quiet older couples), enter a couple of charming newcomers. Renting a big house, owner totally unsuspecting, been there a while. Power cut one evening, out come chaps to fix it..........they do work but notice a rather suspicious smell.🤔 Police informed, they swoop unexpectedly a week or so after power cut.....Jackpot🤩 The whole house has been turned into a drugs factory. Every room, even bypassed usual electrics to power everything. Poor house owner will have to spend a fortune putting things to rights. Police have got them though, so that’s a huge bonus. It’s all back to quiet normality now. 😴

Just listened to the Handforth Parish Council Zoom call that’s in the news. Hilarious.
1 -
Yes, I have just watched it🤣🤣🤣
It took me back a few years. I occasionally had to attend Parish and Local Council meetings for work. The most memorable descended into a full on fist fight, at which point I discreetly removed my ID badge, and just waited until the Police arrived. Zoom is marvellous, bullies removed at the mere flick of a switch🤣🤣

According to the reply OH got from our MSP's office, and the local Health bod, the distribution of vaccine to GP surgeries in the whole of UK was outsourced to one company, whereas the distribution to other centres, large and small, is being handled differently.
Whether that is true, we have no idea.
This seems to be where the problem lies. Our sports centre is being used for most of the vaccinations here, OH went there, there is no shortage of vaccine at the larger centres.
But in our area someone has decreed that the over 75s must go to their GP as that is deemed safer. So I can only assume that our GP either has no vaccine at all, or not enough for all the older patients. Not all areas in Scotland are doing this with the 75-80 group as far as I have read.
Up here, we do not make our own appointments after getting a letter or text, the letter gives you an appointment and a number to call if you need to change it. If you are one of the group that has to attend the GP surgery, you just have to wait till they contact you.
The result is that some 75+ have no appointment, while on Monday the 65-70s will be starting to be vaccinated elsewhere.
So much for vaccinating in the order set out by all UK Governments!
Another wet and miserable day here.

I can thoroughly recommend a visit to a snowdrop garden, using our Gardener's World 2 for 1 ticket we paid £5.50 to visit our local East Lambrook Manor Gardens this morning. There are more listed on the NGS web site. We saw lots of different varieties, bought a few we liked and it did us good to get out. A pity my glasses steamed up for most of the walk so I tottered on as best I could as we all wore masks outside and it was well organised with a one way system. The rain held off too.

I watched that parish council video too brightened up a dull morning hehe
Good news here today for us our 2nd youngest son(John) got informed a couple of weeks ago that his team at work was being made redundant which was a worry especially in these times finding work will be difficult. Anyway a new position within the company came up and he interviewed for it and discovered today that he got the job working in same office (when they eventually get back in) and on more money so we are very happy he did say that if he was out of work for a while he would just tag on With us more often in the caravan (he does join us when he can) so happy he got the job for him and for us (kidding).
Apart from that a quiet morning here weather terrible so won’t be going out far today. I seem to have recovered fully from the side effects of the vaccine I always seem to get effects from vaccines but happy to be over them now and hopefully get protection from this dreaded virus.

Nice photos Brue. We visited East Lambrook many years ago, think it was called the Margery Fish garden then. Remember how pretty it was and was the first time I ever saw the Chocolate Cosmos plant which of course I bought. Sadly it didn’t survive in our wet, garden.

Very wet here today, no snow but we do have an amber weather warning for rain. Goodness knows what the rivers will be like as when we went into town the other day they were very high, its done nothing but rain since then. When the snow up north melts it will be bad.
Kj I will send you an email with the info I read, don't want to get this thread shut down it might be considered political.
Bathroom, we've decided 2 of the walls would be better with a skim of plaster if we are going to paint them. One of our neighbours came and looked at it this morning and agreed, so he's coming on Monday to do the job
so that's a weekend of rest then.Rufs, you've lived up here so will understand how things get reported

Oh! yes, I had several business meetings with Mr Salmond, he was big in Aberdeen in my time, fortunately for me, I knew that someday I would move back down south, so i tried not to get involved in too many political discussions, but I still miss the place, all that lovely snow today at Glenshee and the Lecht and no sking allowed, supposedly, I will bet that some will be up there, Feb/Mar was always our worst month for snow, take care.
This was the lane up to our bungalow Feb2004, the lane is about 5 foot deep, snow used to sweep off the fields and fill in the lane, we had managed to get the disco up the night before when we returned home, but had to leave the caravan next to the barn at the bottom, only thing that shifted the snow was a JCB scoop it up and throw it into the field, snow plough was useless as nowhere to push the snow so just used to build a big wall of snow, happy days

Brue, buy Hoya Clear-It cloth, about £4.50. Lasts for at least 60 usages and can last up to 72 hours. Mrs WN uses it and swears by it. She only uses it when she knows she'll be going from cold to warmth etc. and wearing a mask.
Nothing much to report here.

Lovely garden brue, on my list of must visit gardens. I have an old Margery Fish book somewhere, brilliant plantswoman. I bet the garden is stunning in June-July?
I have just come in from a lovely couple of hours in my garden. Lots of snowdrops showing now, even Crocus poking through, along with daffodils and some very precocious tulips. It’s starting to come alive again😁Ideas for Mum’s birthday tea are on the agenda for this afternoon. 🤔

I have watched the Parish Council video as well. I have a horrid feeling that there are a lot more councils out there that are the same - Parish or otherwise!!
Great photos brue. We were hoping to go to Easton Walled Gardens to see their snowdrops but unfortunately they are not open this year.
No vaccination for eldest son last night. They had an 'accident' with some of the vials so ran out. They said they would contact him first thing this morning regarding another appointment but he has heard nothing yet.

That’s hard luck Millie, but at least they were honest. Hope he doesn’t have to wait long.
The Parish Council meeting is rather hilarious, but it’s also rather sad. I watched a full nearly 20 minute version, from the stuttering start, to the hunt for a calendar, and of course, it was actually a second stab at the meeting, as the first had been badly disrupted as well. There wasn’t a single decision of any kind, taken at any point, which I find very sad. You are right in thinking that it’s not an isolated example, although they seldom degenerate into such a farce. (No criticism of the hero stand in clerk, she did her best). Few folks often have the time or commitment to dedicate to such a role, and sometimes those that hop on board have agendas of their own, or are simply not up to the job, one way or another. I can recommend (😉) viewing a town council committee meeting, something like planning or debating a Public Space Protection Order, and you will see what I mean. Most of it will be like waiting for paint to dry, but then some odd bod will ask a really daft question that usually livens things up🤣 anc kick starts a right old ding dong. They know they are being videoed nowadays, so behaviour is usually a lot better, but still have their moments😂

Lovely photos brue have been there quite a few times as there used to be a lot of hardy geraniums and I had over 100 different plants when we lived in Somerset, would love to go again
Second afternoon we have had tea/coffee sat outside yesterday 20C and today 19.5C with plenty of sunshine.
I went for a walk down the road in the sunshine getting my Vitamin D and went a bit further nearly to the next village to see a lot of water flowing through the fields and under the road, tried to go down a track for a closer look but water across the track but the water looked like a small lake have never seen so much water here before. A couple of days ago on the local news there was a youtube of 20 leisure boats going down the River Lot for about 30 kilometres having broke loose from their moorings so that will be a few boats lost for this season and car parks in Cahors were flooded and had to get tow trucks out to get the cars parked on them and now all closed in that area it has been the worst flooding for quite a few years, glad we are high up where we live even the road down towards the village get water in the fields either side of the road.

The Handley Parish Council meeting has just been on BBC news with some more background information which makes the situation even worse. Yes it is very funny to watch but the behavior of some of those men is quite frankly appalling. It makes The Vicar of Dibley Parish Council meetings seem quite civilised. I am on duty at the Cathedral sometimes with someone who used to be one of our Town Councillors and she has some tales to tell. Some of them hilarious and some very disturbing when you think that these people are 'in charge' of our council.

Rufs,
I Noticed your comment wrt the snow ploughs & JCBs in the snow.
I saw, a couple of years ago, the TV programme about snow on the nice flat ( not !!) Applecross road when the hard working snow plough slipped a bit sideways & had to shout for help from the Applecross side. A nice, clever J C B arrived eventually having had to use the un-cleared side scoop by scoop to get to & rescue the poor old 'plough. I'm sure the machine itself had a definite tinge of pink around its wheel arches since it's not got gills that I could see. Dug him out, pulled and pushed till it was squared up and facing the correct way then left him to play the role of shepherd to the cars that had become trapped behind that , surely embarrassed, plough. At this season I crawl thro' the telebox schedules to see if they are shewing the repeat but no luck so far this year

Well I had a bit of an eventful day, yesterday - not been feeling too well for quite a while but was reluctant to see the Doctor because I knew where I would end up! Anyway by lunchtime I was feeling really poorly and rang '999' for an ambulance. To cut a long story short, I was whisked off to Hull Royal Infirmary - where, many, many, many hours later I was told that it hadn't been a heart attack but the atrial fibrillation I suffer from was 'playing up', quite badly. I was finally discharged at 0100 this morning - but it meant Ros having to drive all the way from home to pick me up - in pouring rain. It was a horrible night - in more ways than one. Now feeling much better with an appointment with the Dr to discuss my medication next week. When I asked the receptionist at the surgery whether or not I should still attend for my Covid jab in the morning - she said, "you MUST - because hospital is where most people catch Covid and if you have to go back, you need to be protected". What a lovely person - and how wonderful, caring, professional and reassuring the paramedics were. I live to fight another day
