"We went in together for our jabs done by a lovely pharmacist and we were issued with cards with date and vaccine type (Oxford AZ) Hardly noticed the needle but we will await to see what reaction we have. "
What!!! no sticker ???
, I would go back and complain

it was the wind that killed you in Aberdeenshire, it would cut straight thru you, and you could have 6 inches of snow and 6ft drifts and of course over the years the hedgerows had been decimated which made it even worse, but even down here i had a struggle to get the car open early morning yesterday.
Forecast snow for today, but think they make it up down here, if they said it was going to snow in Scotland it snowed.0 -
I think everyone, and their immune response, will be different. We both had Pfizer 8 days days ago and apart from a mild muzzy headache for me and a bruised feeling arm for a couple of days we were fine. My friends (in the main) have had AZ - some report mild symptoms, others nothing. Whatever reaction you may, or may not, get it’s only temporary and better than risking getting Covid!

Unless I have read differently, having the jab does not stop you getting Covid but reduces the risk of being seriously ill if you do get infected.
Reading today (BBC News) it seems the AZ vaccine has been suggested to be less effective against the African variant than the PFizer. Still a long way to go I'm afraid but if it helps stop hospitalization then it's a good stop gap.
My PFizer jab only gave me muscle ache for two days, we will all react differently to the side effects of any immunity jab.

It’s V Day here today. Having not been anywhere for months it’s strange having to decide what to where. Nothing too scruffy and nothing with tight sleeves. Which mask ? Do I go for coordination or best fit?
I’ve been randomly selected to be part of a monitoring group re side effects. https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

Weeks to go yet for me to be in any kind of group. And my Sister will wait longer unless unpaid carers suddenly get remembered. We aren’t fretting though, it will happen.
Ominously quiet outside weather wise here. Wind is getting up, and there’s the odd flake whirling around, but will it happen🤔

I am sure that the vaccines will rapidly evolve to be even more effective in the near future. So many people are working hard to achieve this. The ones we have at the moment will hopefully help to prevent severe illness, hospitalisation and death for which we must be thankful.
Bitingly cold wind here but no snow yet .....

Like Ttda, we're also rans in the jabby thingy but probably due sometime in the next 3-4 weeks.
Started to snow here. Been out and cleared the area for the roofer/guttering man who is due on Tuesday, all being well.
Decided to treat ourselves at lunch so I have a Steamed pudding due to finish any time now with some mincemeat left over from Christmas mixed in with Rhubarb and Stewed Apple. And custard of course. Probably go for a light bite tonight.😂
Heard that near neighbours wife passed away with Covid the other day, the one who was moved out of main hospital to community one to make it safer for her but covid then got into community one!
I could get really angry with all of those Covid deniers.😠😠

Millie. I'm trying to stay positive, we're being bombarded with bits of downbeat news and the research is limited at the moment so I'm sure the vaccines will improve for all of us.
WN I've taken the light route today for a pudding, I got a bag of summer fruit out of the freezer, cooked them up and mixed them in with a raspberry jelly. Won't tell OH about your steamed pud because he'd approve of that....
Sorry to hear your other news, there are still far too many catching the virus.I am looking forward to getting my kitchen back, it is taking a long time to get it re-painted and re-arranged. A new work surface for the boiler room arrived last week, totally split through the middle when we opened up the package, neither OH or the manufacturers could work out how it had been so badly damaged, looked like a sledgehammer had hit it. New one arriving this coming week.
Cold here, cold wind and brittle sunshine.

No I'm not worried, I've had enough jabs over the years to know that some jabs you get a side effect others you don't. The flu jab this year was a no effect but we have had them when they have given us a sore arm for days.
Really just interested in how it affects some but not others, my BIL (76) had AZ he was a bit tired and had a temp for a few hours that went away with a couple of paracetamol, his daughter under 50 (works in a GP practice) had AZ 3 weeks ago and is still suffering side effects, nothing serious but her arm is still red, swollen and sore.

Woke to snow this morning but only a sprinkle, its tried to snow again on and off but nothing sticking, back on again as I type.
Need to go into town so hope it doesn't change to the heavy stuff.
More hats knitted this morning

The man from the ONS also came this morning for the last of our weekly covid tests, we now go onto once a month testing.
Nothing else going on here today but will have to be up sharp tomorrow as the plasterer is coming in the morning. OH is just giving the walls to be plastered a coat of PVA. Once plastered and dried we can then get on and paint them, I'm going to do them with the paint that has glitter in it. We did that on our bedroom walls and it looks lovely when the lights are on or when the sun shines on it. If you haven't seen it, its like fresh new snow that has had a frost on it, it twinkles

Tammy, friend in the village had a Pfizer on Wednesday. Said that he went to bed early as feeling tired, woke up freezing at 2 in the morning with a splitting headache. Got up and put on some clothing and had to switch gas fire on in living room. His wife who also had it the day after had no side effects apart from a sore arm for a day.
I did read that the percentage having side effects with both vaccines is extremely low, something between 1-3%.

The Drs in the surgery where she works have had a look at it, they aren't concerned but are keeping an eye on it.
The survey from the group I'm in is interesting as its all age ranges. Some get nothing for days then seem to get a reaction, others get a reaction within hours. Most though don't get anything other than the sore arm. Really strange how it can affect folk.

Mum (92) had Pfizer. No side effects whatsoever, not even a sore arm. Tough generation.😂 OH had Pfizer, only side effect he had was a slightly aching arm, which is probably just jab into muscle. SIL and her OH had AZ, they both reported mild flu like symptoms for a day, but are fine. It won’t worry me, I will just get on with it. I look upon Tuesdays check up at dentist with more apprehension😬 Complete coward when it comes to teeth.🦷

Same here, neither of us are bothered about needles.
Interesting from the survey it appears the younger ones are getting more side effects, not just a sore arm but flu like symptoms, bad headaches, lethargy etc.
Does make you wonder if as we get older we have had more illnesses and more jabs that we don't get such effects.
Yet when we look at the medical evidence the older you are, the more you are likely to become ill with covid.
The older you are your immune system is sluggish and takes longer to build up antibodies.
Sorry to hear about your neighbour.

A very efficient system today at the town shopping centre. A row of empty shops have been turned over into a light bright vaccination centre. Very friendly volunteers keeping us moving in the right direction (and wiping down inbetween patients - which reminded me of the man at the recent American Inauguration who popped up to wipe the podium between speakers).
And then the vaccine was administered by our former vet.

I got the Oxford one on Monday and spent all day Tuesday in the house with mild flu symptoms was very cold all day and sore muscles and just generally felt terrible. Pleased to say though that by Wednesday I was fine and so far have had no other side effects. Needles don’t bother me too much good job as I have blood tests on a regular basis.

We have a dusting of snow, it's still coming down. Wet/sleet walk out this morning, Dora still not seen snow! OH well get a worse walk very soon. We stuck to the roads and went into the city and central park, more folk than I expected out especially in view of the weather and shops not open at the time.
Thank you for my birthday wishes, I ended up with a very reasonable day in the end. Nice afternoon tea, different supplier this time, if we order again I'd chose the 1st by a whisker or 2. Was going to order and collect, we are just outside their delivery area 😢, a roast dinner from a very good pub but in view of the dire forecast decided against it will have another weekend 😉, but it would have been ok but silly to take unnecessary risks!
Good to hear about vaccination OH had Pfizer one, no reaction at all, there may have been some lethargy but he's had lockdown lethargy for so long it wasn't noticeable. It's also passing in to me as I've had to be the driving force for so long...... Because of blood thinners he had an extra added to it, they put swab over and an X of tape, he said removing that tape was worse and it included a free wax 😂. I'm not worried about the needle or the vaccine but fully expecting a reaction, my body is very reactive and my thyroid problems caused by my own immune system turning on it! I had some of those nails that they built up with powder and gel years ago - 2 popped off within days, a first for the applier 😱. Chatted with a friend who took an older chap we worked with, she's taken him under her wing, for his jab same day same place OH had his but later in the day. Old boy got in a stew before and as she said they became the entertainment after because he was still shaking all over but different folk watching, so nurse and doctor checking.... She was offered a jab which she at first declined but accepted when she learnt it was going spare, then cheekily asked if her hubby could have one he is over 70 as he was in the car, yep so they both done. When i enquired it was a no, but that was when we were given the appointment.
No letter for OH, he gets one every lockdown as a vunerable person, 4 so far, unlikely for most folk to come out of that category?? But a text to say call to get appointment. Appointment 2 days later and time offered acceptable so don't know what sort of choice there was, at our GP surgery.
Wherenext sorry to hear about your neighbiur. I agree about these Covid deniers. From anecdotes I hear when it hits in their families they do have a change of mind.
Managed a walk to the end of our garden in the sun on Friday - to our amazement our pond is almost as low as it was in the summer 😱😱. It is raised. It was full to almost overflowing with all our rain last time we managed to get that far, must have a leak in the liner but who knows how the ground is absorbing it.........

Spent a fair chunk of the afternoon watching Ireland & Wales give England a demonstration of how to play Rugby Union.
Think as a result of my ill-spent time today I should go and prepare myself a light cold salad and go outside to eat it ~~ deserved self punishment I reckon

Well, now I've got That Rant out of my system lets head for Rant 2
I'm seeing lots of comments about these " Deniers " or many of them being " Carers " in Homes looking after elderly disabled or infirm people. If they are truly refusing to take the vaccination should they be allowed to continue in that employment ?
