Glad to hear you have returned to your very own Ward, Richard and hope you have 1) no further problems needing late night rescues from 'ull 'ospital by your Good Lady. and 2 ) get your vaccination done & dusted Sharpish. Good Luck & Good Health to you and yours.

Spent a miserable hour standing outside in the cold & breezy airy while blowing up ~~ nooooo I should say ~~ inflating the tyres on 'Dukky' so that it should stand a shade higher out of the threatened rain and snow
. All except spare are now recommended pressures plus 3 psi so they should last 'til er er well next month perhaps { The spare lives where I don't venture thank you -- I can think of better ways of getting a hernia

Sorry you've been to hopsital ...and back! R&R. Hope you can get it all sorted asap. Keep well.
Thanks for all your comments about East Lambrook Manor, the family held a surprise 60th birthday there for me a few years ago. The previous owners ran a nice little restaurant and cafe, it's run differently now but still a pleasant place.
Thanks for the info about the steamed up glasses WN, I will give it a go!
Good to hear about your son Francis, so many families have been affected by lost jobs.
I saw the the council meeting too, a bit misogynistic for my liking, a poor show. We had an "outbreak" of bad behaviour from members of the public at our local Parish council meetings directed towards the clerk, it got sorted before it got out of hand. I've seen a county councillor snoring at an important planning meeting, I wish I'd had a smart phone to hand...
We have had sunshine and torrential rain today, hope the coming bad weather doesn't affect too many.
Onwards with the vaccines, hope more news is on the way for people who are waiting.

Glad to hear that you got such good treatment R&R and are now back home. I hope all will be well from now on. Not a good night for your OH to be driving though.

OH and son who have both been shielding had their jabs today!
They didn't mention the side effect that as soon as she got home she felt tired! She hasn't been sleeping at night as she was so uptight about getting the vaccine and now that it has happened the release made her tired!
Me I am on a different list so still a priority as an unpaid carer
but not yet! I did ask!

That’s great news for you robsail. Hope your OH, and you, can finally get a proper nights sleep. I rang our surgery to make sure they had my sister down as an unpaid Carer. Frazzled receptionist did make a note, but not sure if it will help. We are quite chilled about it, it will get done at some point.
Bit of a scare for you R&R, but keeping out of hospital is a must if it can be avoided. Our best friend acquired it in hospital, being treated at the time for Septicaemia, he was very very lucky to survive it. Spent almost two months in hospital, seven weeks with Covid, and strictly no visitors.

OH got the AZ vaccine this morning. Initially he was booked for yesterday afternoon from the letter he received on Monday. But yesterday he got a text from the GP inviting him to book at a local GP centre (6 practices in the area "clubbing together" using the 1 practice). As that is only 10 minutes walk away, opposed to the 40 mile round trip for the other one, he decided to have a look at availability. There was one for this morning, so he booked it.
However, cancelling the other one wasn't possible! Initially tried online, but told him to come back tomorrow and cancel (?), then rang 119 to explain and ask if they could cancel it, but he was told it isn't possible on the day, but not to worry about it. She said it happens quite a lot. Even tried to ring the pharmacy who had set up on the Uni Campus, but the message there was that appointments or cancellations can't be dealt with by them. Not surprised at that, but neither of us have ever not turned up for any appointments. Surprised at the fact that it's not possible to cancel an appointment on the day. It was the AZ vaccine though, so at least storage is easier and unused vaccs can be kept in the fridge.

InaD I have been told that they have a list of people on a standby list that can be contacted at the last mimute if they have 'no shows' so have spare vaccine. A friend of mine was rung late afternoon on Sunday for hers.
Good news about your OH and son Robsail. Hope you get yours soon.
Eldest son was contacted this afternoon (again!) and now has an appt for next week. 3rd time lucky hopefully.

Walking Rosa this afternoon with a couple of others ,we came across two teenagers girl and boy who were litter picking the valley near us ,when we all thanked them ,they were saying that they had got the litter picker and a supply of LA litter bags as they were very worried about the amount face masks and litter that they were seeing lately so contacted the council who advised they had not got the staff to clear it

My (lack of) vaccine saga continues! OH got a reply to a previous e mail to the office of our MSP, said nothing we did not know, just waffle. Sent it on to DD and she called it a "canned reply"!
OH has sent a reply pointing out discrepancies in his reply, and that we do not live in the "back of beyond" where a delivery of vaccine to a GP might be challenging.
So....today our Chief Medical Officer, Jason Leitch, said on TV that all over 70s should have been contacted by letter or by their GP with an appointment date by close of business today, and if not then they should ring the vaccine helpline, and their details would be taken. This is the one I rang a couple of days back.
So, while OH was making dinner, I did that. The response was pretty much as before, they had no info, they could tell me nothing, and they certainly were not interested in taking my details!
DD said Nicola had said to e mail her re vaccine problems, so OH has now done that. Pretty sure we will be "blacklisted" now, but at least all this e mailing passes the time!!
Interestingly, after living here since April 1970, with no right to a vote, last Autumn I was invited to register to vote, not sure when I can vote, maybe local government and Scottish Parliament elections, but not General Elections, we shall see.

ABM wrote".. inflating the tyres on 'Dukky' so that it should stand a shade higher out of the threatened rain and snow"
I though received wisdom was to let a few psi out for snow.
Had a walk in the sun for the first time for ages, along to Port Solent although abbreviated due to the lock gates undergoing maintenance and being impassable.

+1(not psi) it increases the footprint👍🏻

Kj our surgery booked our appointments several days before the letters arrived. You could book your own appointment on line if no letter turns up before the 15 th. People are still waiting here but the big vaccination venue down at Exeter has invited all comers from Devon without letters in the 4 groups this weekend to try and catch up! Maybe worth doing your own thing if you don't hear soon, as long as you have your NHS number.

There appears to be a bit of a problem with people making online bookings with several locations in an endeavour to find the soonest one. Suggests that the system wasn't programmed properly. Once your NHS No. has been used, it should block any further usage. Poor design.

I agree with that, not a very well thought out system but probably put together in a hurry! My first choice of appointment was about 1.00pm, which was available when I started, but by the time I got through the form filling, which took several attempts, I ended up with a 4.00pm booking and Margaret two hours later!!! Hopefully they will let us in together when we go this afternoon? It is akin to making a supermarket delivery booking and entering all of the things you want only to be told at the end of the process that the slot is no longer available!!!

As I understand, the UK commitment was to vaccinate all over 70’s, those extremely vulnerable, and certain carers by the 15th February. That’s a good nine days away at the moment, and last time I looked, overall numbers having had their first jab exceeded expectations and continued to roll out on target.. Not sure on individual nations of course, but it might just simply be a matter of waiting a few days longer to get the call, email, text, letter?
If it was me in the over 70’s group and no sign of a jab invite, I would give it up to 12th February, then make a call to my GP. They will have your details and can act on your behalf.

Look on the positive side. The system has not crashed, and the numbers of people trying to get slots suggests that the uptake is very high, vaccines supplies seem to be running fairly smoothly and there are plenty of unpaid volunteers keeping the process working. The minor inconvenience of not getting your first choice time is just that - minor.

I thought the system was pretty good, considering it was probably knocked up on the back of a fag packet to enable them to get it up and running quickly, was impressed with booking system and how the systems interlink when you role up to be vaccinated OH had appointment at 0850 hrs this morning, arrived, guided into parking bay OH hopped out and was back in car within 10 mins having had the vaccine, back home just after 0900 hrs, brill.

and you get a sticker

Jean got her letter on the 4th,Thursday, and tasked her admin department-me-with making the appointment.
Were given several choices-with closest being 10.1 miles-and chose next nearest and could have had the jab on the 5th, yesterday.
Jean chose next Monday, as she had a medical appointment on the 5th, which was lucky as she was told not to have the vaccine for at least a week!
Went online this morning and deleting the old and making a new appointment was very quick and easy.

I’d have let the Tesco IT crew and logistics team design it. Mind, I would have ticked the “no substitutions” box. It would have been easy to use, delivered bang on time, lots of options, but you don’t want a dodgy “picker”, otherwise you might have ended up with a jab for some obscure disease rather Pfizer or AZ.😉

Behave yourself-a sticker is a pat on the head for your jacket🤣🤣🤣, I’d accept a Lolly mind😗😗

Drier today here.
Big sis phoned to say she has had the jab
she got a call from her GP on Thursday late afternoon giving her an appointment to attend the mass vaccination clinic at Dewars ice rink in Perth.Surprised as her OH had just been to the surgery to get his, he had the AZ while she got the Pfizer one.
Seems its working a bit different up here no going onto a booking site and picking an appointment time, no second appointment given either, sister told you will probably get a letter advising of next jab date.
Bit of prep work today in the bathroom ahead of the plasterer coming on Monday.
This afternoon I shall be knitting 2 hats part of an order of 5, other 3 already done. Other than that not a lot happening.
Starting to get itchy feet, wanting to get away in the van. We would normally be looking forward to our 3 weeks in Lanzarote, not happening this year.
We were there last year when all this kicked off. I remember saying "there's a part of me that thinks just catch it and get it over with" 1 year on how things have changed. Did any of us really believe the expert who said we could be facing 150.000 deaths. So many lives lost, so many others with lasting medical problems.

Stay safe folks its not over yet.
