Not seen any 'BAD' weather in South Cheshire as yet, but I've just refilled the birds feeders and decided it is Bleep bleep cold out there !!
Nasty Stuff promised / threatened by Met Office & MeteoGroup for the dark time today, so I'll be playing on here or reading etc to warm my tiny frozen fingers up again.
Read so many sad stories on here over the C19 year that I'm inclined, now, to forget what has actually happened. I'm becoming almost hardened to it all now, because I have lost three elderly neighbours and a fifty plus year-old nephew since April and with conduct as mentioned by other posters, truly I can see little good to look forward to at present, vaccines or no vaccines.
Please take care, look after each other & stay safe

I know exactly what you mean about knowing which day it is - most of this year has felt a bit like that! However, are you sure you're right about tomorrow? I'd hate you to cook a meal for folk unnecessarily 😉.
I believe tomorrow is the Boxing Day public holiday??? Maybe this isn't the case or is different in Cumbria - I know Scotland has some different public holidays 🤔

Boxing Day is the second day of Christmas. A BH if it falls on a week day. If it falls at the weekend, Sat/Sun, it’s still the day after Xmas Day, but the Monday becomes the BH. Hence Christmas is a two day BH, but sometimes the days have a gap!
(If you worked in the glory days of Local Govt, it was a superb earner for those that didn’t work the traditional 5 day Mon-Fri week. Day one was time and a half if you worked, day two was double time. And you got extra days holidays as well.🤩 Easter used to be even better. Good Friday and Easter Monday we’re the BH’s, but we got Easter Tuesday as well! Never did find out why......🤔😁)

Thanks for all your kind comments. Much appreciated. Lots of messages with lovely memories and photos of our friend, before she became so severely ill with dementia, going back and forth. Her catch phrase at the end of a particularly hard day at the Maternity Unit where we all worked was 'happy days'! I have just heard that my colleague who died on the covid ward died alone. So very sad.
Lovely calm and sunny day here today after storm Bella rattled through last night. We spent the morning clearing all the twigs left by the storm, the only damage luckily. There is a warning in our area to stay at home because of increased flooding. The water is travelling down the Nene to our area over the next few days and the river is running very fast. Ferry Meadows is now severely flooded but then it has always been a flood plain. I feel so sorry for those living in the flooded areas.
Helen sorry to hear your son's test was positive but pleased to hear he is not too severely affected. I hope he is fully recovered soon.

Not sure this is a Christmas we will want to remember! Youngest sons partner's father taken into MK hospital about 8/10 days ago with an issue unrelated to COVID now has the virus!!! He was in a ward next to someone else they discovered had COVID. He is not a particularly well man to start with. Other son rang yesterday to say daughter in law was running a high temperature and was not well. She had a COVID test today, hopefully results tomorrow but until they the result they have to quarantine and if the result is positive they both have to stay put for the required time so it looks as if we may have to sort out shopping etc.

So sorry to hear your news David. I do hope everyone recovers soon. I have heard of quite a few cases of covid being caught in hospitals. Not good.
Very hard frost and bitterly cold here. I dont think we will be going far.

Same here David, very sorry your family has been affected by Covid. Very distressing for everyone.
I thought we might see some snow today but it's just damp and very cold. The dog seems to have got an ear infection so I'll be glad to see the vets open tomorrow. Then sort out another food order for neighbours and say goodbye to this extraordinary year!

Could one say that Christmas is going to pot?

Sad news, David, we can only hope that the Medics have become even more highly skilled than they were a year or so ago. I'm hoping for some better, if not actually good news to filter thro' soon. No specific reason, just hoping
.A thin skittering of snow in the County Palatine this morning, not enuff for a snow marble so, as I posted elsewhere :--
## I'm dreaming of a White Bank Holiday Monday, just like the ones I used to know ##

Take especial care if you are out in this 'orrible weather

quite shocking really my MIL is in Stoke Mandeville hospital, similar circumstances, had a fall before christmas was admitted, we had no reason to suspect she was covid positive on admission, 5 days later 1 person on ward tested positive, now she is covid positive, 94 blind, we cannot visit, ward doctor rang last night to say MIL very poorly, now sat hugging mobile phone

Just an update. Daughter in Law had a positive result from her test, although she is, apparently, feeling a bit better which is brighter news. Quite impressed with the turn round of the result, less than 24 hours. Son going for a test today so will await that result!

Sorry to read your news David, our son in MK tested positive on Christmas Eve but luckily only has very mild symptoms. Sons office has had to close completely until January due to Covid cases.
Just seen your update good news, re test results , youngest son's results took a week to come back earlier this year, but his girlfriend's came back in 24 hours. Both negative luckily.
Very cold and grey today, OH has just taken the jigsaw out so I think that's what I will be up to today.

Sorry to hear of the news from DK and Rufs.
Very wet here today after a dry but very chilly day yesterday and now it looks like we are getting the tail of storm Bella as we have strong winds later today and tomorrow.
Take care and stay safe folks.

Frost and fog here today but ground still very soft and slippy
Another person out with their dog advised she had seen the culprit who deposited turkey carcass as she had seen a Kite with something in its talons on boxing day,
Covid 19 positives is getting really bad in our area of Hertfordshire ws are now 537 and Broxbourne is over 1000 positives,so its not looking good for the review on 30th for the rest of the country

Sad to read all these posts about the virus - it seems that the closer we get to vaccination the more many of us are personally affected by this dreadful disease. I'm not surprised to read the comments about infections acquired in hospital - that was exactly what happended with my brother and over the weekend we have been finalising plans for his funeral which will be on New Years Eve. So a Christmas and New Year which none of us will look back on with much joy. It seems an eternity now since we were being told confidently that the virus would be defeated in, what was it, 12 weeks? We can only hope that 2021 will ring us much needed relief and a future to look forward to.

So sorry to hear about your MIL Rufs. I hope you get some better news soon.

Sorry to read of more cases close to posters. Thoughts are with you.
Moulsey thinking of you and your making funeral arrangements, we were in the same position at this time last year arranging mum's 😢.
Cold and frosty here, with mist developing about 9am. Wore my new thermal leggings for the dog walk - toasty, but had to remove my hat as I got too warm. Not a hard enough frosty to make a grass walk possible and some lethal black ice in places in the paths in the estate 😱. Dora couldn't make out why her legs were going in odd directions, her first encounter of real frost, however, I had a couple of incidents myself but managed to stay upright, I didn't find it quite so amusing after that.
Stay as safe as you can folks........

I think I prefer snow to ice B2, at least you can get a grip! I keep some clip on ice grips in case of bad weather, only used them once down here. I think our predicted snow is now deferred till tomorrow but it looks very overcast.
So sorry to hear further Covid related news, this is such a tough time for many. Not a good end to the year for your family Moulesy.
Maybe we'll get better news about the Oxford vac this week, fingers crossed, so much easier to roll out.

Very tough for many at the moment, you all have my sympathy and good wishes. I know of more folks who have acquired C19 after admission to hospital than those who have got it out in the community, so the adage about being as careful as you can doing other things is important. But of course you cannot do much about sudden illness or accident. Very tough. No one can be sure exactly how they will be affected. Good wishes to those in recovery
Very dull here today, but we seem to have escaped the snow and worst of the weather thankfully. Domestic catastrophe last night here though...ruddy dishwasher packed in. It’s claiming lack of water, but it’s lying, I know it is. Dismantled, poked, prodded, cursed, cleaned, poked again, all bits are twirling as they should, pots were clean inside it. Worse part is trying to get it out of its built in situation😱 We have given up for the moment, can’t be bothered to rip things apart, so meals are selective. I loathe not having a dishwasher😡
Working on a scaffolding strategy. It’s still here, it’s a pain in the butt, it needs to go. Any ideas gratefully received.......

yes, it's funny how much you come to depend on them. Hope it thinks better of it self soon. Show it some pictures of the local tip, that might help.

We have had a dishwasher all our married life, so very used to one. (Biggest downside of touring is the pot washing as far as I am concerned.)
There’s very little really to go wrong them them, water in, water out, bit of electronic trickery to gauge a programme. That’s what’s so galling, it will be something simple. It isn’t calcified up, all the fittings are clean, it hasn’t moved, so no reason to think hoses are kinked. But it’s a pig to get out. We were spoiled with our first one, that lived for 27 years. Then we had two duff Italian ones, so went back to German engineering. I think it’s got wind of Brexit personally, and is sulking😂. What’s equally galling is OH has strained his back poking around in it and trying to shift it, so he is in agony moving around at moment. Doubt he will be able to stand at the sink anyway...........🤨

One possibility is that one of the float chambers are blocked. The float chamber control when the water goes in at certain points of the programme. One of our previous dishwashers, a Hotpoint (made by Bosch) stoped working. When I removed the side panel I noticed the float chamber were full of crud. I removed them and got some bleach into the chambers to clear them out and hey presto it seemed to work after that. Another option is the remove the waste pipe from the back of the machine to see it that is also blocked which would prevent the water from the cycle being pumped out and this is what confuses the programme module, it won't move on until the previous action is complete. You don't say how old it is, but if it is getting on a bit, particularly a built in model there is bound to be a build up in the system despite possibly having used proper dishwasher cleaners? Unfortunately integrated models are not cheap to replace compared to the freestanding ones.

Hmm, that sounds something to check DK, thanks for that. It’s around seven years old, a Neff. We are going to have to dismantle work top to get it out I think. Tried pulling it out last night, but it wasn’t having it. Took apart all we could inside, but couldn’t get to rear of machine. We were utterly spoilt with our first machine. 27 years is going some. The Italian Smeg’s both gave up the ghost at 18 months. We only took second to replace first, have kept away from Smeg ever since.

Our Miele (9yrs old)dishwasher stopped working some months ago,,we have a Hotpoint engineer lives opposite ,he "advised" after a look that it was possibly a "computer" fault ,as all the mechanical bits seemed ok, but he was not qualified to say it is, and his computer that he can plug into Hotpoint products would not help ,but did say with the callout it could well be expensive?

If we can’t do it ourselves, will probably dump it and get a new one. As you say, repairs can get expensive. We have a friend who is good with such things, but he’s struggling with long Covid at the moment. It had completed programme, everything clean and sparkly, it just kept giving a whoosh sound every now and then, and little impeller at bottom where it drains was whirring. I tried reset, but that didn’t work. It carried on when we opened door as well. Only stopped when we tilted it.🤷♀️ Now it’s refusing to do anything, sitting and sulking like Donald Trump😂
