What are you all up to

Deep frost this morning. Put my wellies on to walk to the village shop, they have the best grip of any shoes I own. Extended the walk a little as the weather was sunny in places and dry but can't walk too far in wellies.
Came back to paperwork, end of year stuff. Found out we're still solvent, which was a relief.
Well I hope that 2021 is a lot better than this year although you do have to say it was quite a bit out of the normal and thus memorable, even for all the wrong reasons.
Good luck to one and all, including anyone who just looks in without posting (not a problem), and let us hope we're wishing each other all the best for 2022 this time next year.

No frost here just dull and damp although the weather changes tomorrow chilly and frost and looks like snow the following weekend and a frost week so at least may get some sunshine.
OH busy sorting out a new security camera which arrived today and works ok with the other ones so a dry day will be needed to install it.
Off tomorrow to have a meal with friends and to meet a new dog they had just before xmas she is 3 years old and apparently very placid, their old dog always had a special bark for OH so will be interesting to see how Mina is with him.
Agree with WN for 2021, we having some bookings for club sites next May but may change them to September.

Our directory arrived yesterday (I think, I'm having difficulty keeping track this week.) An M&S pants and pillowcase order arrived today...I feared they may be bobbing around in a container somehwere in the Pacific thanks to Brexit! Can't have that can we, standards to maintain...

B2 I think you can join the CT bad back club, OH is still suffering though it is easing, you are allowed to lounge around and the dog won't really mind. OH has taken to asking me to answer the phone (rather like a secretary) due to his back, this is not going down well. especially when I heard him rambling on to his cousin about people not washing their hands...I did ask when he last washed the kitchen floor.

It was very icy when I walked our dog this afternoon, some black ice on the roads. Spoke to a friend who had fallen over at our local pub, not a good place to do that and she was only getting a take away. The take aways are good, we're back on them now, just a slight relief from cooking.
I realise in tier 4 that I can't get my hair cut. I don't want to get like another friend who hasn't had her hair cut since the start of Covid, it doesn't suit her at all, it's a bit like a one person protest movement.
I felt very annoyed when out walking to see a large group out together, I don't think they were from the same household. A lovely sunny but very cold afternoon here.

Our sites directory has landed!!
Very cold with a hard frost today. We took a walk over to the park earlier and treated ourselves to sausage baps and coffee from their take away kiosk. That is our New Year's Eve treat.
Sorry to hear about your OH's fall JVB. I hope you manage to get an appointment soon and that they can give some reason for the falls.
Bakers2 I agree about the dishwasher and washing machine. I go into complete panic if the washing machine fails! I am so sorry you are feeling so 'down' but it is understandable. I swing between days when I can cope OK and other days when I fall into a complete sloth with no energy or enthusiasm to do anything. My Dad used to say 'keep your pecker up' when times were bad. Hopefully given another month or so things will take a turn for the better.
I have ordered myself an embroidery kit online. That is going to be my New Year project. For the moment I am now going to go back to reading the new Monty Don book that OH gave me for Christmas. It is such a lovely gentle read.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year. Hopefully 2021 will bring health, happiness and peace to us all. Stay safe.

It was my brother's funeral today - a mixture of emotions really, sadness for those of us left behind but an acknowledgement that, for him, life would have been very, very limited. We had the most perfect weather for it, blue skies, sunshine and a very thick frost which made the occasion a bit more uplifting.

And on a lighter note, two of my nephew's friends, both ex students of mine, now in their 40's, one a detective seargent the other runs his own business were there and insisted on keep calling me "Sir" - old habits die hard I guess, though I can't just remember them being that respectful when I was trying to force homework out of them back in years 10 & 11!

So glad that you had such good weather for your brother's funeral. It must have helped lift the spirits a little. I had to chuckle at your ex students still calling you 'sir - or maybe not 'still' as though it sounds as though they maybe didn't when at school. Perhaps they had a nickname for you

. Mr H and I send our best wishes, it must have been a sad day for you all.5 -
Happy New Year to you and Mrs M. As you say time to look ahead and hope for better times to come.

Thank you for your good wishes folks. It will pass!
Moulsey so glad your brothers funeral went well. I completely understand the mixed emotions around it all. I too had a chuckle about Sir 😀, a case of not appreicating things at the time!
Milliehull your idea of the high life and treats are as exotic as ours or maybe exceed ours 🤣🤣. Embroidery sounds interesting, what's it of? What's it finished use? Son, local-ish to you says very cold and has spend 2 mornings raking debris from fields of wheat, by hand 😱, following flooding, says its 3 inches deep, more again tomorrow if its frosty - they have to give up once it thaws! Our frost cleared about 11am, still chilly and grey.
Managed an hour or so dog walk, but know it now! Nice just to get out. Took myself town-wards, good pavements and in theory spreading space 😉 and have to say B&M carpark rammed and plenty of folk about there. Alledgedly fixed penalty for parking and leaving the car par other than B&M but cant vouch its applied, mind you only Wilko M&S Poundland, essential shops, open but I did see the mobile coffee stall was doing a brisk trade in the middle of the High Streeet, certainly wasn't deserted or quiet.
Wandered around the closed non conformist cemetery, haven't been in for years, for a nose - sadly overgrown but got my green fix! Discovered a grave in my maiden name that I didn't know was there but won't be a relative - a builder, mine - were all ag-labs and I'm back to the 1600's in the small hamlet where my dad was born and brought up. Just can't get a straight line back too many John's who marry MaryAnn's even 2 girls baptized on the same day Emma and Emily from 2 families 😱😱. Despite not owning the terraced house until the early 1980's dad's family lived in it from new in the early 1800's.
Enough rubbish...........
However you welcome in the new year, I'll be in bed I expect I'm often melancholy new years eve, much past, what's to come etc, I wish you health and safety, not the working rules kind 🤣, and happiness for 2021

Having a glass or two of very special fizz.
Many thanks to who ever it was recommended Langham Wine Estate sparkling wines. I contacted them and based on my tastes they recommended their PINOT MEUNIER 2017 and sent me some.
I have just tried it and it is definitely the second best sparkling wine I have had the pleasure of drinking. Narrowly beaten by a super special Champagne I was given about 20 years ago.
Thanks again.

Yey! Our club magazine and guide arrived together today.
Not such a great day, we haven't had the snow forecast just damp and grey though we did get out for a walk.
Decided that a wardrobe sort out was required plus dressing table. Its nice and tidy now but didnt manage to clear out much.
Bed stripped and bedding washed and tumbled, new bedding on bed.
Covid numbers up here are not good today, back to earlier in the year
all of us in tier 4 wonder how long its going to take to bring them down again. Happy New Year to all on CT, heres hoping 2021 is a better one.

Bakers, I have never been a fan of NYE, so quite likely I will be in bed early, watching an old film on my iPad.
I was thinking about you today Moulesy, and your family. Sincere best wishes to you all.
Its, very very cold here today. Our snow has turned to sheets of ice, bad on untreated roads.
Lets hope we all have a better year next year, one way or another😁

Best wishes for the new year to all on CT from us too here’s hoping we all have a better year. Nothing to do tonight so we have decided to order a take away for dinner and will probably just have a few drinks and watch whatever happens to be on the telly.
Best wishes To all

Snap!! Our New Site Directory arrived today too.

Its been a beautiful bright sunny but cold day, all decorations came down today, pine needles everywhere!
Then off for a walk with the dog, couldn't believe how much traffic, where were they all going? Moulsey glad the funeral went well.
Bakers2 sorry that you have had a "down" day, I have had quite a few over the last few weeks.
Not a big New years eve fan either, there are already fireworks going off here!
Doubt we will stay up till midnight.Wishing all on CT a Happy New Year, keeping everything crossed that the vaccines will mean 2021 will be a better year.
Have a safe evening everyone.

Well ring out the old, ring in the new, what a year (actually totally silent here as our bells and church clock have been mothballed due to covid rules.)
Happy New Year to all of you and thanks for providing some lively companionship on CT.

Aha, success! It’s something like -5c outside here, icy, dark and not very nice at all. So I decided to try telepathy on the dog, convincing him he didn’t really need yet another walk, a voyage around the garden would suffice.........He fell for it, now ensconced under his favourite radiator in basket number two! (Bed number one is next to the stove.....utterly spoilt🥰)

Oh that's interesting about church clock and bells. Not heard the church bells for a while - no need to call to worship, no service! Can't hear the clock from home, will have to check if its giving the correct time when I next pass.
The stable clock in the local estate where I walk the dog, still chimes - maybe it's now electric or battery 😱

Surprised about your church bells brue as ours ring at 7am 12 noon and 7pm for services and twice an hour whether there has been any folk going or not.
Great photo's ttda, our old springer used to lie next to the radiator in the hall or the kitchen.

Well this has been a year, to forget!
Wife and son have struggled though having one of the neurological conditions that mean that they cannot get out of the house, because they are vulnerable. The two outings in the van were scary although all precautions taken were in the main being observed. Respite has been limited if at all. Still it's better than some!
Can only hope that all stays safe in 2021!

I spoke too soon, telepathy failed. He was up shortly after, demanding attention🙄 He got more than he bargained for though, we are fending off that perennial Labrador favourite GlugLug/FlappyTab, so he was pinned down, an unction poured in the offending orifice, then it was run for cover to avoid the results!😂 Eyeballs sorted as well, (seriously high maintenance model this one nowadays) and he’s out for a stroll with his Dad now.
Eleven years old in a fortnight. Goodness knows what he would be like without the arthritis. He was on five walks a day as a young dog, and then still tore round the house like a maniac🙄 I think he is getting a custom built bed box next to the stove for his birthday.....if someone gets their finger out and orders the wood. 😂

Very very difficult for you robsail, I have a friend in a similar situation. They isolated right from the start back in March, unfortunately friend went down with Sepsis end of October. Caught Covid in hospital, spent six weeks on oxygen, out barely able to stand, started to pick up, then wham, Covid related heart attack. He’s survived, miraculously according to medics, but it’s going to be a very long haul.
We have spoken today, exchanged best wishes, all of us dreaming about simply being able to say hello, and share a meal out. Small things have become extra important this year.
You take good care, better days are within reach now.

They are setting off so many fireworks round here it is like world war 3. It is not even midnight yet and I actually dont see any reason to celebrate at the moment. Hopefully in a few months.
Very best wishes to you and your family robsail. It must have been such a difficult year for you all.

Woke up to the ground white with frozen hail, which made the surfaces rather treacherous. Managed a couple of careful walks before lunch and a further one this afternoon when the sun had shifted some of the ice. Freezing again tonight so our last walk will have to be a short one over the grass near the house. Not heard many fireworks at all only the very occasional bang, thankfully. There may well be more at midnight, but we could well be asleep by then.
Posted too soon as there are some going off just now. Wonder what the point is really, surely if one was going to let any off midnight should be the time.
Glad to hear that you brother's funeral passed ok, M.
Hope you have better fortune next year, Robsail.
Best wishes to all, and fingers crossed that next year will be better all round.

Very frosty again, but a crisp cold start to 2021.
We heard a few fireworks in the distance last night.
Our church bells are silent because they are rung from a platform high up in a very tall tower. So the bell ringers can't meet up there at the moment. The clock has a mechanism to ring a bell or two through the hour but no one to keep it all maintained just now. I've been up on the bell platform, it's quite scary, the tower actually sways slightly when a full peel gets rung! OH has been even higher up when he was asked to repair the weather vane.
I do hope Robsail and family can see some light this year, what a tough time you've had to endure.
Now I must get out of bed, the cat and I have had a lie in! 😊

A happy new year to all.
Must be the effects of the babycham last night but I've seen a man with as many noses as there are days in the year!

The pooch got us up brue😂
We were in bed early last night, I like to watch a film in warmth and comfort. But crikey, tremendous fireworks going off not far away, never seen domestic displays like it. I am not normally a fan, but had to get up to watch last night, better than Millenium. Over in 10 minutes, but it woke the roosting birds and set the bats off fluttering.
Dinner to cook for us today, breaking with the usual food, going Italian for a change........😁
