What are you all up to

That’s sounds more programme fault to me. Our code is either water supply or waste code. Will leave it for next few days, can’t be bothered at the moment. Need to remember how we built the kitchen, did it ourselves. Getting worktop off isn’t going to be easy😱

I do feel for you tda. I do panic slightly when the dishwasher plays up as I hate washing up by hand. I am all for keeping the old fashioned crafts alive but there are limits! When our old Bosch played up about 18 months ago we were quoted a call out fee of £90 and considering the probable cost of repair and new parts we decided to ditch it and buy a new one.

Thats what the Hotpoint man says ,so it could be a computer fault ,and as most parts are just changed until it is rectified (like modern cars
) he says the computer? is usually the most expensive ,and more so when it comes to "prestige" makes
although there may the same computers fitted to other "less expensive" makeswhich could be far cheaper alternative
And that could well be correct as the heat exchanger on our Viessman boiler was the same as fitted to an Ideal boiler which is now fitted to ours was £50 cheaper

Years ago when the first Range Rover was introduced the door handles were the same as fitted to the Morris Marina but twice the price

Even further back when i first started work ,the water pump on a Rolls Royce with RR embossed on it was identical to that fitted to a Bedford TK truck although 3 times more expensive

Can I suggest killing two birds with one stone Ttda?
Dismantle the scaffolding and erect some of it around the dishwasher area as it seems like it's going to need the full monty to get it out. Simple 👍 No need to thank me.😀
Cold this morning with some sleet but it stopped mid morning and allowed a brisk walk later on in the day. Seemed that a fair number in the village had the same idea and consequently it tooks us over half an hour to get out into the lanes.
Still far too many guests coming and going for my liking. Both Mrs WN and myself feel that a very short trip to the supermarket will suffice for the moment, probably at some ungodly hour.
Good luck to those with loved ones in hospital or recovering.

Ttda, just had another thought. Maybe you could dismantle the scaffolding, hide it, holding it to ransom until the builders get the dishwasher out safely.
Only problem with this is the "Mother-in-law" kidnap scenario.
"They've kidnapped mum"
"How much do they want?"
"£5,000"
"Too much"
"No, that's what they'll pay us to have her back".😂
Just joking folks. I love her really.💙

So sorry to hear of all those with relatives suffering from Covid. Hope that they all recover quickly.
We've missed the snow here at home, although the high Lakeland Fells do have a covering. It was cold but sunny this morning so we headed over to the shore for a walk through the nature reserve and back along the shingle bank. I then cleaned the car after lunch and had a relatively short walk when I'd finished drying it off. Have just heard that the neighbour I helped, when he was unable to get up by himself, has been moved from hospital to a care home as his dementia has got rapidly worse, and his wife is unable to look after him. What a year it has been!!

TTDA.....I have installed a few integrated dishwashers in the last 15 years......they all just sat between the adjacent units, on their own legs, and were secured by screws at the front edge into the adjacent units and maybe the worktop. There should be no need for any big dismantling of the kitchen.
The only thing you should need to remove is the plinth board .
If you have fitted flooring after installing the appliance, getting it back out will be more difficult.
7 years is no age for an appliance, but only you can decide whether to repair or renew.
Once you have it out, you should be able to remove the top panel for access, and the control panel area if necessary.

Thanks K. Yes, the flooring was done after the unit was installed, and it’s a very tight fit. It’s wood as well, so need to be careful sliding it out. If we can avoid taking worktop off we will, but we do luckily have plenty spare should we need to replace it. We just need to get our heads and muscles around it, see what’s involved. But thanks anyway. 😁

Mmm, that makes things more difficult, we had that problem at DD's first flat.
The DW legs may be able to be screwed in a bit so you can ease it over the edge of the floor, in DD's flat the DW was a cheap one and being replaced, so I just took my hammer to the legs till they gave way! Before we replaced it we levelled up the (tiled by the previous owners) floor with some ply so it would not be a problem in the future. Flooring should always be run in under the plinth and any appliances that will stand on the floor, it is a very common error not to do so, and makes life very difficult in the future!
If you can screw up the front legs and ease it over the edge of the floor onto an old sheet or blanket, that will protect the floor from scratching.

I don't think I would give up on it yet but don't envy you having to get it out. Ours is now integrated rather than being freestanding. Also a Neff (Bosch) BTW. It is always possible that it is a circuit board but I still reckon the most likely problem is a blockage, especially after 7 years. I tend to preclean all the very soiled dishes so that not so much crud goes into the dishwasher, especially rice which caused a blockage in my previous machine. On that machine, another Bosch, I found all the inlets and float chambers at the back which made it easier. Good luck with your endeavours.

OH is sometimes critical of the quality of dishwashing but I haven't been threatened with being replaced yet.
Had a text from elder daughter yesterday to advise that all four of them have tested positive for Covid. Fortunately symptoms are relatively mild. Visited at arms length ten days ago so we're already past the ten day quarantine period and our interaction with the outside world has been minimal.

In a house with very few modern appliances I don't miss not having a dishwasher. The worst part of washing up for me is putting the washed (and left to dry) pots away, before there's room to to stack the newly dirtied ones. Our sink is in a very cold pantry, but I don't mind the actual washing - perched on a tall stool by a sink full of hot water with music in the background is not a bad job. There are worst things to do!

I have a friend like you Goldie! She would never contemplate a dishwasher and in normal busy times would gather family and visitors round the kitchen to help out and of course have a good chat around the sink.

Hope you get it sorted TDA. We have delayed painting our kitchen this year, we'll have to drag everything out because the floor needs replacing too. OH hurt his back last week so neither of us has the inclination to get started but it's getting desperate now. (Hope Mr TDA's back is improving too.)
Sorry to hear your family news CY, hope they all recover well.
I fear we'll all be in total lockdown again.

Yes we give things a rinse, but two things recently have got me pondering........🤔 I found a cup with the rim chipped for some reason, thought I had got all shards out, but you never know. And then we have had a lot of rosemary over Xmas, wonderful twiggy little things that get everywhere, so again, I wonder🤔
Goldie, I admire your “just chill and get on with it “ spirit, but I would rather be without the car than my dishwasher. The crockery smashing risk is trebled as well, our kitchen isn’t set up for hand washing, small drainer, wood worktops, deep Belfast sink that makes your back ache if used for more than a couple of minutes. And too many mugs, extras for when some are in DW😂

We woke up to snow this morning. It had started to fall around 5.30am, a light dusting. By 9am it was 3inch deep. Melting fast now though.
Started an Xmas present jigsaw last night. Very interesting, only 500 pieces, but it’s an old map of Yorkshire. I am attempting to do it without reference to the picture, test out my geography. Could get addictive.....👍😁
Same here CY, (and others), hope family and friends aren’t too badly affected. Fear it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better☹️

Been a very quiet time here over the break.
Weather been very cold and frosty, we don't have snow in our village but went into Perth this morning and they have had a covering.
Managed to get out for a walk most days, nice blue skies and sun but always with a breeze so with chill factor -3c during the day.
Sorry to hear about the number of Covid cases some members and loved ones are seeing. Hope they all recover soon.
Has anyone received the new site directory yet?

Has anyone received the new site directory yet?
Yes Tammy. We received ours about a week ago now. Strange that you've not had it yet.
A cold day today. Had a trip out to the recycling centre. Such fun. You have to take your enjoyment where you find it when in lockdown.

We'll make a supermarket visit tonight, hopefully when it's a lot quieter. We don't need a great deal, just fresh fruit and veg and some bits that MiL wants.
Hope the C19 patients are not getting any worse.

Nope no sign of the Site Directory as yet, might be a Scottish thing?
I had a card saying that there was a letter that required a payment, payment made on line so held my breathe as it was due to be delivered today, was it a letter from my Aunt Jean?.......postman walked past My neighbour had got my mail, what could the letter be? It turned out it was from a nephew, who had forgotten that he had already put a card in the pressie parcel! So I had to pay £2 for a duplicate Christmas card!

You could be right about that robsail. The Scottish post certainly seems slow just now. My sister and niece live near Dunfermline and their post is very slow, it has taken 10 days to get a letter to them recently. Also when they have had post it has often been around 7pm!!
We have received our Site Directory Tammygirl, about a week ago.
Fingers crossed for all the Covid patients and families on here. Very worrying time. Thinking of them all and hope recovery is quick.

No directory here either, the club mag arrived today.
Went out with OH to deliver some things to a friend, lots of flood water, we had to change our route as we could see the water lapping up one lane. All very soggy and damp but some snow still expected, it feels cold enough. 🐧

TDA - just been reading a book (see best reads) that shows that your dishwasher breaking down may be a blessing in disguise. It probably would have stopped anyway on Tuesday 19th January 2038 at exactly 3.14 am, so it's just an early warning.
(This is true most of our microprocessors and appliances/computers that have them and is due to the way that time is stored on anything with a 32 bit microprocessor. To work out what time it is they just count the number of seconds since the first January 1970. With 32 bits this is a max of 2 147 483 647 seconds or just over 68 years, which will run out in 2038.)
So best get a 64 bit microprocessor dishwasher which you'll be happy to know will work for 292.3 billion years before you'll be faced with the same problem.

Our magazine arrived today but no directory yet. Bitterly cold, grey day today but no snow yet......... I spent 2 hours on duty at the Cathedral this morning. There were 2 of us on duty and 8 visitors came in to pray or light a candle. This afternoon we collected our click and collect order from Aldi. That's my busy day for this week😁 Hope you get your DW sorted out TDA

Very cold today today no snow, just a bit of sleet. Spoke to eldest son this morning as he hadn't been feeling too good, stomach pain and wasn't sure if it was Covid related, he said he was feeling a bit better today.
I was back at work for a few hours, then worked my way through a huge pile of ironing, personally I prefer washing up!
Club magazine arrived today but still waiting for the new directory. Our post has been very hit and miss, neighbour who is a postie said they had a huge backlog before Christmas due to staff off with Covid or isolating.

How do you find the Aldi click&collect Millie?
Our store now does it now, but I thought it was expensive at £4.99 a time.

Is this going to be another millennium bug myth. What a complete farce and waste of money that turned out to be.
