Was in our local Tescos at 6.30, this morning - to pick up a couple of things we had forgotten, Thought I would have to queue after all the hype on the media - but it was virtually empty! Said to the guy on the checkout - "You're in for a long day then?". "No" he said - "finish in five minutes - been here all night". With a winter population of about 8000 in our little seaside town - what on earth prompted them to think it was worth staying open all night?!!
Pouring down with rain here - pond about to overflow! Actually starting to think it was a good idea that we couldn't go away this Christmas.
Anyway, since we're almost there, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Christmas albeit that it's going to be a strange one this year. Roll on 2021!!

Well woke up to a covering of snow, a light one but it counts as snow!

Luckily OH came back from his appointment in time to make sure all was done properly 😁

That sounda like a good decision nellie. Disappointing though.

We got yesterday’s deluge as well, but it’s a glorious morning here. Off to help with Mum this morning, then back here and she will help me set our Xmas table.
Sorry to hear your trip is cut short Nellie, but maybe best going home a bit earlier.
Hope everyone has a good day😁

Hope you've got home safely Nellie, at least you managed part of your break.
Lovely sunny day here. Stupid cranberry and non-delivered milk drama here (my mistake) this morning, the frozen cranberries I thought I'd got in the freezer turned out to be bags of red currants. OH went off to village shop to get extra milk, then back again in the faint hope of Cranberry sauce, but only redcurrant sauce available. Had told the neighbours I'd send some cranberry sauce round so quickly made some redcurrant jelly for all of us!! Trying not to let things defeat me and no-one is around to care except me.

OH said it was difficult to recognise anyone arriving at the village shop when they've got hats and masks on, we're all in disguise....
Well if the clear skies continue we might actually see Saturn and Jupiter tonight, however Mars has followed a good path near the moon too and that is easily visible if it's clear. I love the night skies at this time of the year.
Will join in the street bell ringing at 6pm. 🎄
I hope everyone has a good day too TDA, it's beginning to feel a lot not like Christmas.

Just realised its been a while since I checked in

Our Christmas has shrunk, due to eldest son in MK being put into tier4. His company have also closed their offices completely now due to several cases of Covid and lots of others including him isolating due to contact at work.
They have both had tests and are awaiting results. We will be in tier 4 from boxing day now too.Went into work for a couple of hours this morning but all finished, desk cleared and now looking forward to quiet few days.
Sorry that you had to cut your trip short Nellie, but probably for the best.
Have a flu jab booked for New Years Eve, something to look forward too
Plenty of our neighbours have broken the Coronavirus rules, lots of visitors, even our neighbour opposite who was sheilding all through the first lockdown has had his daughter from Sheffield staying since last weekend
Wishing everyone a Very Merry & Safe Christmas.
Have a pork and Stilton pie to make now.

H&T
MK all through the summer and early autumn we had very low cases of COVID and then all of a sudden its has jumped horrendously,as of yesterday 682 cases per hundred thousand!!!! Goodness knows what is going on?
I suppose people will always bend the rules and make excuses that they are in that bubble or than one. It will be interesting to see what Christmas Day is like. We have had a chap on our estate who sells, I imagine, secondhand fishing equipment. All through all of the lockdowns he has had people pulling up at his back gate. Very little social distancing and and rare to see a mask in place. He probably doesn't fit neatly into any of the groups where there are specific rules but the fact that he doesn't care is annoying!!!

David, Like MK Our area has had fairly low Covid cases, but they have tripled over the last week!
Our son did say their company had arranged so called Covid safe activity day for staff last week, turned out it wasn't that safe !
whoever organised it wants sacking!!! 0 -
Snowing quite heavily now.
Actually I'm quite upset as I find I can't remember how to write 1, 1000, 51, 6 and 500 in Roman numerals
I'M LIVID4 -
Have you been at the crackers already, Corners ??
Brian's amazingly happy at the moment, got up early to go shopping for a couple of pointless bits n bobs. Up, scrubbed up, eaten up in smart fashion BUT delayed due to camper's screen f f frosted up both inside & out
. Still got away and onto the Retail Park to find an utterly unusual situation 8:45 on Christmas Eve and not a queue to be seen, spoiled for choice as to where to park
. Swiftly, for me, into M & S food hall via their knicker department ( no outdoor queues here !! ) Straight in, the few gaps in shelves being rapidly refilled by the young stackers, got all I needed but no untouched carrots, only semi-prepared ones in bags. into the Check-out Q and swiftly waved into a vacant till, -- everything going swimminglyDown to Pet Shop for some Moggy-treats - only two waiting, then into Halfords for some Rain-ex A } spray gun version for the Dukky's screen as well as B } Impregnated Tissues to see if they really, truly, honestly stop my specs steaming up when mask wearing.
From there round to aged sisters to drop the cat bits off just thro' the door, then a 6 mile drive to bring that battery back up to par again.
Home in time for Ten - o'clock coffee break All in all I think I might save all next years seasonal shopping 'til Christmas Eve.
Now sitting here with Kathryn Jenkins warbling away merrily, Life is looking up

I sincerely hope it's looking as good for everybody out there, and shortly I will be refilling the coffee cup and reading that nice new caravan & Motorhome Club Monthly magazine which was waiting on the mat when I arrived home !!Take care Stay Safe & Keep a safe distance from politicians like Wee McBurney

Treated myself to a new mobile phone which arrived this morning , hasn't tec improved in the last 15years 😀. No idiot guide with it so had to download manual , 200pages of it 😨, think it's phone a grandson time. Can see 90%of phones capabilities never seeing the light of day .On that note , I wish all of you and yours a very merry , peaceful but above all Safe Christmas 🎅🎅🎅.
PS ... Brian , I'm beginning to get worried about you M & S , and their knicker dept .🤔.

Ffffreezing day here, frost not lifted all day unless that lovely yellow ball in the sky touched it.
Decided to have a day off from working, so we packed a picnic and flask and took the mh out for a run. Had lunch sitting looking out at the mighty Tay river, in full sunshine. Long drive back home, its great living in a big LA area just now

Arrived home to see next door neighbour outside cutting up logs with his chainsaw. Dressed in a vest top, pair of shorts and a woolly hat
temp was -2. He works for SSE on windfarms he maintains the windmill heads. Hasn't been to work in the last 2 weeks, his works van sat outside the house. OH asked if he was on leave, NO, just working from home came the reply. How on earth do you maintain windmills from your home
no wonder 'green' electricity costs so much. Seems they can't work if its to hot, to cold, to windy, frosty, snowing, heavy rain or threat of storms, seems like a great job to have living in Scotland
Have a good Christmas to one and all, fingers and everything else crossed for a better 2021.

well it wouldn't have caught you out as you there when they were invented

Have a great Christmas!

Would prefer your weather TG to what ours has been wet and dreary so no chance of being outside so did a bit of cooking 1 batch of lovely scones and 1 batch of sausage rolls all look good.
Should be dry for the next two days so may get a walk only locally around the village.
Have a peaceful Christmas everybody and take care and stay safe.

Better to be home early safe and sound than worrying about getting back, millie, tda and Helen, especially watching Tomas tonight with his weather report.
Brue, did manage to fit in 10 nights away, which could well be more than some have done all year. We had intended to cut the trip shorter than originally planned anyway, so not too disappointed. There's always next year to look forward to. I keep forgetting to look out for Saturn and Jupiter, but with getting up before the sun rose and with a cloudless sky Venus was clearly visible to the East.
We had a fine dry run home with relatively quiet roads. Saw only a couple of other caravans and about 10 M/Hs in the 120 mls trip. Got the van unloaded and the second round of washing on when we say down for lunch before 1:30.

A very merry Christmas to one and all. Fingers crossed for a better year all round in 2021. Take care, stay safe and keep others safe too.

Today has been rather lovely with lots of sunshine but, of course, much colder. Nipped out to the Pharmacy to pick up a couple of prescriptions.
This afternoon managed to finish my latest jigsaw, the Ravensburger Christmas Special edition which I try and buy each year. It was easier than the dogs!!! Strange thing is I have an extra piece!!!

Same to you Nellie, glad you got home safely😁
Big Merry Christmas to everyone, let’s hope that we can all get out and about again soon, get to do some of the things we love doing, places we love visiting, both here and overseas. And get to say a proper hello to one another as we meander around.
Keep safe, and Merry Christmas🎅🎄😁

Happy Christmas one and all 🎅. Hope you all keep safe and well. We have had a good day. Daughter drove by and gave us a Christmas wave and a short socially distanced chat from front garden. Lots of whatsapp messages, photos and videos from the fsmily. Watched choral evensong from the Cathedral online. Havent been able to get out as most of the roads round here are flooded as the rivers have burst their banks.
Glad you got home safely nellie.
Here's a toast to better times in 2021 🥂

Sunny but very cold here all day. The bedroom floor still has one more run of boards to go, so I will be doing that while lunch is cooking, but it will be a while before I will be able to go back and do all the woodwork , wardrobes and lights.
I think we are now all organised for Christmas, finally finished wrapping presents!
Best wishes to everyone, and stay safe.

Funny old Christmas Eve here, first time in 40 odd years I've not prepared for guests 😢. Still table laid, veg prepped for the 2 of us 🤣
Not a lot better at son's, went from 6 of us to try out refurbished house before being let out, to 4 at son and DIL to 3 now, DIL uncle in hospital 😯, fingers crossed all will be ok, if only GP had seen him before when asked...... So tomorrow is retrieving his car from hospital carpark, not sure what's happening to his dog but will be sorted, then digging trenches to aid field drainage due go flooding. 3 for lunch in their house, assuming his MIL, no longer cut off by floods 🙁. Almost glad we're here alone, as my OH and DIL not able to dig trenches so may have got roped in 😱😱
Had a lovely video call with NZ granddaughters really excited to open our present, a very large dolls house for their barbies. We had update photos of construction - shame KjellNN was busy!
Been a very chilly, read cold but almost dry day - I dried towels, just a short sharp shower and I got them in as it started 😀 after a windy night and it's getting up again now.
Outside on the doorstep at 6pm for jingle bells, ringing of bells to add Father Christmas, so share greetings and mulled wine socially distanced from neighbours.
Glad you're home safe nelliethehooker
Enjoy your Christmas Day however you spend it at least I wont be floor laying 😉. Stay safe and heres to a start to the beginning of achieving something better for 2021.

Am I correct to assume it is a "Smart Phone"? You may be pleasantly surprised at how many of the facilities you make use of especially if you start adding more apps!!! Fortunately they are reasonable intuitive. Usually Google is your friend. I recently purchased the Microsoft Office Suite of programs for my new desktop including Outlook which I have not used before. Despite it seemingly being very similar to previous email programs I have lost count of the times I have had to Google the answer to this and that!!!

David , I think smart is an understatement , this bit of kit has more toys attached to it than Hamleys store in London has 😀. It's the new all singing all dancing Samsung.Sure I'll get used to it in the coming years.!!.

Christmas Greetings to anyone looking in, especially if you're on your own. Hope you've all had a good day. I Whatsapped our son this morning to find him dressed as a cracker...he has been doing this for years at Christmas, one way or another, always something ridiculous and I never quite know what I'll see.
Anyway it lightened the mood. Not a lot on TV and no-one to play games with this year so it's all very different. Hope all the children and grandchildren are happy, we had a conducted video tour of our Grandson's lego. Hope Father Christmas has been good to you all. Bye for now! Brue x 🎄🎁🎅4 -
Merry Christmas to all from us too. Hope you all had a nice day. Things were quieter for us this year than normal so just a day in the house youngest son visited this morning with grandog who was dressed as a little reindeer . Watched only fools and horses on GOLD then had a nice dinner at my sisters as usual it was excellent. Now home and a night in front of the telly for us here’s hoping next year will be a bit more normal for us all.

Nice to read your posts brue and Francis made me chuckle. Also glad you had a reasonable day. Hope the turkey service was well received brue.
Much like us, managed without tears here too! Good walk in the cold but bright for Dora and I. Phone chat with brother. Followed eventually very late morning with video call with son and DIL- don't know why we don't use video calls more often? Grand baby is presenting quite a bump now. Various text conversations with friends as the day progresses.
Our dinner was good, and we made it last, starter, rest, mains, OH took dog for road walk said it was cold! Then we had pudding about 5pm. So just cake and a cuppa for tea/supper. We had Morcombe and Wise on TV, along with Des O'Connor, I'd forgotten how funny and clean the humour used to be........
Dog in disgrace 😡🤬😤 as I showered late morning I could here someone banging a mat against a wall - thought it was odd. Turns out little b****r had plucked a hole in the landing carpet about an inch square 😡🤬😤. Carpet not that old, not been pleased with the quality despite the price and 20 year guarantee as we have a bear patch on one of the riser, which manufacturers claim is heel strike, never had an issue in 35 years we've lived here, without so much as inspecting it. When things settle down 🤣🤣🤣 again it will have to be replaced.
Lots of bits went awry OH broke a glass, I 'lost' the sundae dishes we use for serving prawn cocktail Christmas starters, still not located 😯, rinsed dog paws in the conservatory rather than the garden, she leapt out, covering floor with muddy water and footprints, then shook and splattered the heater........
Now watching Maria, OH sang with her at Covent Garden many many moons ago , hes saying how difficult she was!
