We have been down at DD's today,  OH was looking after Callum while DD was trying  to get stuff done in the house to prepare for Christmas, and I was working on fitting bathroom cabinets.

DD and SIL are now on holiday until 7th January, when DD goes back to work, but SIL is off till the 11th (as a teacher) when they will need us back so they can both be working.

The new arrival is due 18/02, so the new room might just be ready in time as long as we do not get a prolonged lockdown!

Hope you can get to go, tda, however you've  up to 72 hrs before it to cancel should it not happen....well at the moment that's the case but heaven knows what next year will bring with regards to the club's rules.wink

I booked it early to avoid any rule changes to be honest. If the Club wants to retrospectively apply deposits, we will look how much and decide from there. Lots of other options to go at down in Cornwall😁

Ah, the Tour! Just check the dates to make sure we can get a site should we be down there then. Missed going to the SW this year so it's definitely on the list of places to visit when we allowed out after the next lockdown or 2!!!

Have a grand birthday tomorrow, and hope that the meal lived up to expectations tonight.

Well done brue, fingers crossed that they appreciate all your work too.

We have now ordered up the white tiles for our bathroom re-fit.  We decided to go with the larger ones, 400x250, and not bother with any mosaic border or panel.  They will be delivered on January 6th to DD's house ......this arranged before the latest restrictions were announced as DD is always there..........so we will have to go down there and check them all for damage then bring them here.

We already have the back to wall toilet and seat, and I will make the unit it will fit onto, which means a trip to Ikea to buy materials, when allowed.   We also have the shower, so now we need to order a shower tray and enclosure, a basin, and a countertop to set the basin into.

But first.....we need to tidy all the caravan stuff from the spare bedroom so we have somewhere to keep everything till the builders can come.

Should be plenty of time to do all that between the 26th and the 11th.

It's good that you have got everything in KjellNN, I'm now wondering if there'll now be even  longer delays with shipments.

That is our worry too brue, so we decided to order the tiles now as we think they may be made in Spain.

The shower tray, enclosure and basin we have decided  on are  all made in UK, so hopefully should not be a great problem.  Not sure about the countertop, but it is a big thing to store (4 metres long) so do not want to order it too far ahead!

The builders actually suggested we did not order too soon as we do not yet have a start date from them, but having seen the problems DD had, having left ordering  things to the last minute, we have decided to start preparing now, even though we cannot get our job underway till I have finished the bedroom for the new arrival.

I'm getting over the disappointment of not being able to see son and DIL. I had always thought we'd spend the day alone because of the virus, I just didn't want to be right. Just listening to the Today programme on radio4 which is lifting my spirits - not!

KjNelln your projects seem to be carrying you through the situation. The new baby wont need a room of it's own immediately so no pressure for a finish apart from being tidy. It will be nice to start on your home. Keep up your energy levels. I think the next issue will be supplies for many items.

    Right enjoy your day folks

Listening to Today too Bakers2. Well at least it's the solstice so we're turning towards the sun again. ☀Last night I had a look for Jupiter and Saturn, if you want to see them lined up tonight they are very low down in the SW and visible just after sunset...so look early and hope for clear skies!

    Yes happy winter solstice everyone.

Also Saturn and Jupiter haven't been this 'close' since 1623 - is it 6 arcminutes I recall?

Yep remembered the Solitice after I'd typed my gloom! However small the increments the days will be lengthening.

Just to add to the cheer - my dad always said as the days lengthened the cold strengthens 🤣. But I'll settle for cold and bright over this grey and rain. Very mild again here but persistently raining, puddles where they don't usually exist. The dog can have a road walk this morning, well pavement then out of kindness 😉. But hopefully some off lead running later, we both come back sooooo muddy. Getting out and in is like preparing for an expedition and despite the expense her waterproof body fleece, recommended by other dog walkers, has been worth its weight in gold. Only paws, ears, tail and nose to wash in the bowl rather than the entire dog. She's so low slung 🤣🤣. She was at the groomers Friday, she smelt and looked wonderful for a few hours. Still at least it was fitted in 👍and shes short haired for now.

Yes we actually had a clear sky after sunset yesterday so I clocked Saturn and Jupiter just incase it wasn't tonight. They set very soon after sunset. I wasn't around for the last one and don't suppose I will be for the next! If this conjunction was 'the star' its telling of another momentous event.......

Talking of clear skies I managed to see the space station twice earlier in the month and at the end of November so cloudy were our skies at the 3 minute window, so learned my lesson for this event..

We are hoping to see it as well. It was lovely and clear up here last night, lots of stars out, nice crescent moon, but it’s raining today, probably going to be too cloudy later.

My pre Birthday Meal was wonderful last night - it came mostly prepared, but needed some cooking. I followed the instructions carefully, and despite the ancient Aga suddenly deciding to get hotter, it all turned out more or less as it should. The plating was distinctly amateurish though. To whoever (sorry can't remember!) asked why my husband was not cooking it - he doesn't finish work will at least 6.30. Too much stock to milk and feed!

Today, it's bill paying and keeping on top of paperwork.

I have had a wasted morning, I had an early call from a friend to say her son in law was on sky news would I look out for him....I've dutifully kept it on for his moment of fame (I never watch Sky news) but no appearance! I've been loking at the contents of people's book shelves, bedroom decor and knick knacks...I'm off now! winklaughing

😂 It’s become a lockdown favourite Brue, trying to see what books folks have in their house. And floral arrangements.😁 The Channel 4 news team rock a varied library.........🧐

Culinary heaven here today🤗 OH has made my favourite soup for lunch, Spicy Parsnip. Plenty to freeze as well. I made a big online shopping mistake last shop, clicked “1” on fresh root ginger, thinking it was for one piece.......we now have a kilo😂 It’s going down well with neighbours though as an extra Christmas gift, and I have frozen some.

Mrs WNs favourite spice. She'e a real nut for ginger as opposed to a ginger nut.

We took ourselves off to Aldi in Ruthin this morning as it's a newish shop and not that heavily frequented. Expected to see more people and we did but far better than the "normal" amount we see at Tesco. Didn't have a list but still managed to get almost all of our Christmas and the following weeks's requirements. Everything very civilised.

The drive over to Ruthin was as usual a beautiful one. Have to take our pleasure when we get it.

Not much chance of our sighting the Jupiter/Saturn love in. Shame.

I love different spices, and herbs. We use a lot in our cooking. I think we are destined to be disappointed later with planet spotting as well, still overcast here.

I have potted up lots of stray bulbs as well, stuff that was dug up and dried early in Spring when we got stuck into changing garden a bit. I have some lovely rose buds fattening up nicely. Going to cut them Xmas Eve and make a different table Centre piece.

I go through lots of spices. In fact I replenished my Ground Cumin and Ground Coriander today. I do use Paprika a lot, especially the Smoked one. Sprinkle it on Roasties before cooking with a dash of Balsamic Vinegar it adds a different flavour to the spuds.

Just remembered today to book our stop after Oban for next year. Thought I'd done it but hadn't. Decided to spend a few days at Morvich before crossing to the east coast. Would have been in someones bad books if I hadn't of booked it.

At the weekend I tried out Nigella's chopped roasted potatoes with roasted peppers and coriander seed sprinkled over ( I added some onion too) it was a nice combination. I can't live without some extra flavours around either and dry off herbs too. I get complaints about that as the bunches hang down from the pan rack...it's either a whack from a pan or an entanglement with some oregano....laughing

Just waiting for Boris's next appearance. I know of someone who was heading for South America today via Spain...I think it will be destination Heathrow only! Can't think why they attempted to go.

We try and dry our own herbs as well. When I do Xmas decorations I like to add long strands of Rosemary, smells lovely in house. Haven’t done any this year, but I doubt the roses will have any scent, so I might add some sprigs to table decoration. I love the smoked Paprika as well WN, like to toss small new potatoes in lemon oil, and then dust them with paprika. Our local fish and chip shop sells what they call “Chip Spice”, blend of a few things that add a nice taste to ordinary chips.

Dry day for most of it, managed to get out for a walk in the dry smile

OH has a cold (yes just a cold) of course its man flu wink which I'm sure he will kindly share with me so I get it for Christmasyell

Off shopping in the morning, going a few days early as don't want to get caught up with the rush. Schools here don't breakup until Wednesday.

Roofer coming tomorrow morning to remove the central shared chimney and deal with the leak. Going shopping should miss most of the noise.

Had long phone call with friend this afternoon, really annoyed with her when she said she had been to Edinburgh to get her hair done. Then she tells me her SIL and family have been up in Aviemore a tier one area, they came from Glasgow tier three yell they were staying in a timeshare resort for a week. As I understand it they should not have left Glasgow and the resort should not have allowed them to stay.

Why won't folk do as they are asked, by law they are not allowed to travel yet they still do.

Our friends that we visit in Wales are just a bit west of Ruthin, a tiny hamlet called Bontuchel.  We had not heard that they now have an Aldi.....that will give Tesco some competition!  Wherein the town is the Aldi store?

It's on the Denbigh Road, just on the outskirts of town. As you come back towards Ruthin from Bontuchel it's about 100 yards down the Denbigh Road from the roundabout . Only been opened less than 2 months. Nice and airy. They've knocked the one down that we usually use in Mold and are rebuilding it.
