What are you all up to

Yes it was a very pleasant meet up, and great to see the WNs again, but looks as if it will be the last for a while unfortunately, especially with Wales going into lockdown from midnight. Heaven knows how long it will be before things return to some form of normal.
After a second walk round the Flashes on the way back to the van Flyte is flat out now enjoying a well earned rest, while OH is working her way through the latest series of The Crown, while I listen to last week's Celtic Heartbeat through the headphones.

We too are sorry to read of all the tales of scuppered Xmas plans, hopefully we will all be able to meet up with family and friends in the not too distant future.

I've just watched a film called Nativity with Martin Freeman. It was made in 2009 and I really don't know how I've not seen it in 11 years but it's brilliant.
For anyone wanting a good comedy pick me up, well worth watching.
Of course everybody will post saying they've seen it hundreds of times.

I missed the bit about the meet up between our intrepid contributors and spouses! Glad you managed to see each other.
Sorry about the disappointment on here over Christmas, so many carefully arranged plans thwarted.

We've had so much rain here that many local roads have been under water...it never rains but it pours, which seems apt at the moment. ☔

One of our favourite little places was flooded out (again) today. Poor Lostwithiel, we have been there a few times when it’s happened, awful for local residents. Doubly so at the moment☹️

I noticed that too, Tda, along with parts of Carmarthen. Do feel for the residents of those areas. Wonder how York is faring?

Have just had a very nice email from the Cornish pub where we have cancelled next week's reservation, thanking us for letting them know and for our custom over 2020 and looking forward to greeting us again in 2021 (with a rather kind financial inducement to revisit!
). I feel really sorry for places like that which have worked so hard to keep afloat in such a difficult year and we will certainly repay them with more visits next year!

According to my searches York city has Flood Warnings for properties on / near the River Ouse, Nellie, but they don't say much other than that!! But MET OFFICE DONT SAY THAT MUCH !!
So we will have to rely on Yorkshires Own Service : ~~ Rocky 2B, where are you ??

Couple of flood warnings in place for York, including Rowntree Park area. Will probably be like this for a few weeks now, on, off, on off.
We are seeing a lot more Winter rain in Yorkshire, as opposed to snow, these last few years. Not as much down here in South Yorks, but we have had a few days of the heavy stuff lately. Today hasn’t been bad at all though. It feels far too warm for December. I still have roses in bloom🤷♀️

My heart goes out to all those affected by flooding. They must feel terribly 'picked on' at the moment.
My nephew's Christmas card was most apt. 2 penguins chatting 'best part of 2020 Fred' 'it's nearly flipping over Frank'
We can only hope things improve next year - but then I thought that this time last year!
Edit we've had far more rain than I can recall this year. Generally we are a very dry region, think Beth Chatto dry garden. I too have bud on mum's rose but rain has rotted it, had to paddle to remove it. Geraniums still blooming, well attempting to through the rain....

I’ve just booked a Club Site😁 Remembered an event we are hoping to go to next year. Fingers crossed it happens. Many years since we last stayed there, prices haven’t half rocketed☹️

Pretty much a Lockdown from the 26th here for at least 3 weeks, level 4 again same as TG, so that will put a huge spanner in the works for getting the bedroom finished before the new arrival makes his appearance as I still have 3-4 weeks work to do. It takes much longer as I can only work on the days we will be there looking after Callum.
The cases in our local authority are relatively low, 98.5 per 100k according to the most recent figures, but the potential for a more rapid spread of this new strain will no doubt push that up.
At least we will still have Christmas Day together, sorry to hear that many of you will not be able to have that.

Although we're on our own our elderly neighbours (who were going to Wales) are now without food over Christmas. So I'll be sticking things on our delivery this week for them and I think we'll be sharing our turkey etc on the day. I've offered to cook the whole meal for them but they're insisting they can cope, it would be easier to cook the whole lot rather than get the timing right for two households, two sets of veg etc., but I'll just go with the flow. OH was wondering how we'd get through the large turkey crown I'd ordered so his prayers have been answered!! Now he'll be saying there isn't enough....

They are so lucky to have you close brue.👍 Might just be the safest possible scenario for them, not being able to travel.

Quite sunny but cold here today. Went out and washed the car and now watching the Scottish cup final which was delayed from May. Sorry to hear of people’s Christmas plans being ruined. We are going to my sisters for Christmas dinner as usual but like most no other plans over the Christmas break as most places will be closed anyway. Hoping things may look up after New Year we are busy planning trips away next years hoping we get to go on them.
Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend

Still very muddy on our morning and lunch time walks with Rosa ,only one subject on the lips of all those we met ?
only one was upset about the timing ?
others were quite relieved,it has been made so strict in this and other areas,
Evedentently they have for now ,run out of baked beans in the local Co oP

Busy thank you Francis😁 OH is out cycling, so I am sneakily wrapping the presents the dog has bought him!
I am very sad that others will have had their Xmas plans changed in some areas, but wish everyone a safe Christmas. Imagination, ingenuity, technology, compromise will get most of us through it without much hassle really here in UK. It’s what the whole year has been about since March.

It's my Birthday tomorrow - and my husband has secretly ordered a 3 course meal from our favourite restaurant to have tonight. It was delivered chilled, and mostly prepared but we still have to cook some of it (e.g. the Venison Wellington). I don't think my plating skills will be up to the required standard, but I've read and reread the instructions and listed them in order, so it all comes together at once. I hope.
I've also squelshed round the garden and picked some Christmas Roses and Winter Jasmine to make a table decoration.
Meanwhile, I awaiting an Asda delivery - more or less what I ordered but no sage in stock, either fresh or dried. So the turkey will have an onion, a lemon and thyme shoved inside it.

Enjoy your meal and happy birthday for tomorrow

Enjoy the meal Goldie. Why isn't Mr.G doing the cooking?

Felt sorry for Mrs WN today. We went to scan something yesterday and the printer wouldn't talk to the computer. We loaded an update to the AppleMac the other day and it seems that the computer doesn't like some of the hardware from HP. So Mrs WN has spent 4 hours of today trying to get them to talk to each other, virtually starting from scratch. Success when the item scanned. Great, except the printing aspect wouldn't work. Aarggghh. She even got me to give it my best stare. It laughed. Still it's working now, by recognising one printer for scanning and the other printer for printing, both of them are the same thing but identified by the computer as different.🤷♂️ Go figure.
Heavy showers for a large portion of the day.

Have a nice birthday Goldie.
If I had to name the most irritating, mainly useless, item of technology in our house, the printer would win hands down WN. I waste more gin trying to clean the seldom used printer heads than you would believe! 😡
