Horrible morning, pouring with rain. Just made Mary Berry's Granny's Gingerbread, the smell is lovely as its cooking.
Just heard from youngest son , he has now has a text to self Isolate, so he now joins his girlfriend in isolation for 2 weeks.
Its funny back in the lockdown we didn't know anyone directly who had symptoms or had tested positive, a bit different now, it seems that I get to hear of someone I know testing positive every week, luckily I haven't mixed with any of them. Hope you enjoy your trip away JVB, we have been away a few time's over the last few month's and just take a few extra precautions while away.

Really horrible wet day, grey skies and heavy rain this afternoon.
OH pottering around the vehicles during drier spells, getting everything checked before the winter weather.
I've been back at the sewing machine. A few more masks for our youngest son and I'm making something's for the MH.
Enjoy you trip JV, we are planning where to go next.
Think I'm getting my mojo back

Enjoy JV. Think we will just be having a couple of weekends now before the end of the year as we are quite busy over the next few weeks so probably won’t be away for too long we do have a week booked at Edinburgh from Boxing Day right through until the beginning of January hoping we get to go.

Good for you, JVB, especially getting the monitor prior to your trip away.
Francis, we are on pitch 86, Hardstandng straight off the roadway, and as we've no intention of using the toilet facilities it suits us fine. The grass will be a lot wetter now than when you left as we had a downpour of heavy rain late this afternoon, so much so that the roadway is flooded at one point.
TG, will pass on your regards to Lenchen tomorrow. The dogs are looking well, two different ones from the last time we met them.
HandT, hope that your son and DIL haven't caught the virus, and that you have managed to avoid it too.

The day started off much better weather wise than forecast so we decided to visit Tantallon Castle. They were using th QR system to provide an entrance time booking, but we couldn't get it to work, but eventually, after a bit of a faff, got a slot by phoning Historic Scotland's HO. Well worth the effort in the end. Then drove onto Tyinghame Links for a walk there. Filled up with fuel at Tesco, and provisions at Aldi on the way back to the van just as the rain started.

When we loved in the Borders we used to take the kids to North Berwick or Dalkeith Country Park for a day out. We did a trip to Dunbar one memorable day when our son did a spectacular nose dive off the harbour wall onto the concrete below, so we know the local hospitals quite well too! Hope you enjoy your stay Nellie.

I thought it was good🤣

Thanks Brue, son and his girlfriend went for Covid tests this morning, as now have symptoms. The spread of the virus seems to be picking up. Thinking of hibernating

Afternoon everybody
Hope you are feeling reasonably well, and that those with C19 or just shewing symptoms are swiftly restored to the Rudest of Rude health and back into the full swing of family & working life.
I'm feeling quite poorly today -- due totally to a letter from BBC telling me when and for how much they will be attacking my bank account - at least they are leaving me alone in December
Still they won't be getting a prezzy / card etc from Brian this year grrrrr. About to dash off & collect my latest artic-load of meds from local pharmacy before the next c c cloud burst.T T F N

Sorry to hear that H&T, hope if they are positive its short lived.
We are not to bad in our area, new cases are not out of control (yet). We are however going back to just shopping once or twice a week. We have seen that folk are mostly wearing masks but social distancing seems to have been forgotten by most.
Today is grey skies and dull with rain on and off. OH been out this morning getting the tow bar electrics looked as we had a small problem with water getting into the socket, all now sorted
He is now out collecting and delivering afternoon teas to the elderly in the village. They used to have a lunch once a month in the local hotel but since March that has not been possible. Many of them are single so are really missing the interaction with others.
The' lunch club' has now become the 'high tea' club. Unfortunately they will still not be able to go to the hotel as many of them are vulnerable and we are not allowed to mix indoors. So they are delivering 'high tea' boxes to anyone of them that would like one.
I'm back at the sewing machine making more masks, I've finished the sewing/making things for the MH. Can't go out in the garden as its far to wet so may as well get on with something else.
Trying to put together a trip round Scotland starting next week. Not going to be easy as neither of the clubs have any sites open up North and West. CL's are thin on the ground so it will be private sites. Once we have sorted out where we are going I will have to give sites a call I've found quite a few on UK campsites just hope they are open.

We had some help in the garden this morning then the storm came in from the hurricane (which is apparently a long way off) but it came in very suddenly, glad the jobs were done and no-one was outside. Leaf raking against all odds just now, but we bag them up to rot down.
Sounds like a lovely idea to have High Tea delivered TammyG!
So Brian, will it be worth the money (the TV I mean?!) It seems like repeats of the repeats at the moment.

Off fairly early this morning to do our now weekly shop. Hate having to do a weekly menu as I've always liked to buy fresh every few days or so but at the moment discretion etc...Very quiet in the supermarket.
Had a phone call from the Dentists when we got back saying Mrs WNs appointment on Monday next has had to be cancelled as the dentist is still at home with her ill daughter. So we're now back to the second appointment being the first in mid November.

A day of very heavy showers, even hailstones, then bright sunshine, but the best and only option of the week to do a summit. This is Helm Crag aka The Lion and the Lamb.

Oh, Brue, now you have upset me
~~ to think I was trusting enough to believe the Beeb would spend all my hard earned pension (
) pennies to provide lots of new entertainment for all and sundried { well summer is icummin in
albeit slowly } 0 -
So sorry to hear about your son and his girlfriend Helen. If their tests are positive I do hope they make a swift recovery. Like you I feel like hibernating. I suspect we will all have to go into hibernation before too lomg anyway.
On a brighter note it has been a bright dry day here today if a little chilly so we went for a lovely walk with son, DIL and grandson this afternoon. We had hoped to go to Easton Walled Garden later in the week but found out that the gardens are closed and only the Christmas gift shop is open so we might go to Geoff Hamilton's garden, Barnsdale instead.

Posted this yesterday in the wrong thread by mistake, so copying it over here.....
Miserable couple of days here weather wise, we have just stayed home and kept warm. We need to buy some oak skirting for DD, but it has to travel on the roof of the car, so we cannot do that until we get a dry day.
We had her on face time yesterday, in tears, as she cannot find her wedding ring. Apparently she took it off at some point in the last 10 days as she had a sore finger, placed it on her desk where she works all day (at home), and now it has disappeared.
Callum is the main suspect, he has probably seen it and carried it off somewhere without her noticing, but how do you get a 2 1/2 year old to tell you where he has put something!?
She asked him if he had moved it and he said "Yes" , but whether he really understood what she was asking is another matter.
She has frisked the study, had me open the washing machine pump and sink U bends, checked the bins, looked through some of his boxes of toys, and will gradually search the rest of the house. Not an easy task in a big place with a multitude of cupboards, drawers and hidey-holes he could have put it in. She does not even know what day it might have disappeared as she cannot remember what day she took it off, only that it was after 16/10 and before 26/10
It was an expensive ring, so we are wondering whether her home insurance would cover this sort of happening

Thanks, brue, thought it was too much info until I sussed out the predictive text!
We may head towards Dalkeith tomorrow provided the weather holds, but forecast is not good, unfortunately. The weather stayed fine today, but not as good as we expected with a chill wind. Walked from site to Dirleton and around by the golf courses and past some of the huge houses that are springing up in the area. They are certainly not for First Time Buyers!!! Back along by the shore so that Flyte could have a dip in the sea.
Lenchen sends her regards to those that remember her, and apologies for any correspondence that she's not responded to.

Nice to hear about Lenchen Nellie.
Kj I hope the ring turns up, at least it was lost inside your daughter's home so it must be lurking somewhere!
Millie hope you manage to get to Barnsdale. We're trying to get out every week but due to half term we've stayed put for the last few days.

TG, have you had a look at the Searchforsites website? It is especially good for sites for M/Hs who are touring.
https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/webapp.php
If you use the Browse the Map facility you can find sites within 50km of your selected points.

kj I hope your DD finds her ring soon. It.must be so upsetting for her. Many years ago a friend of mine lost hers in similar circumstances, her toddler daughter being the main suspect. She eventually found it in the.toy farm hanging around the neck of one of the toy sheep.
brue we would normally avoid going out during half term but it is to be a family visit as we havent seen much of them during term time. Outside visits seem to be the best option to meet up. I hope you have some good days out before winter sets in. It lifts the spirits doesnt it.

Good news in bad times - yesterday we became Great Grandparents, when our eldest Grandson and partner had a baby girl.
In our family boys greatly outnumber girls, so it was fun yesterday ordering some lovely girly (but not too girly) clothes. We won't see them for some time, but already have some photos.

Well we were planning to go away end of next month about 100 miles from home in a cottage not the caravan and now back to lock down for upto 6 weeks and back to an hour of exercise a day and upto 1km from your house and paperwork to take out with you, just glad we did a big shop a couple of days ago. Off to a friends house today as they are in UK for awhile and need to check post as they were awaiting certain items that may have come by now, were going Saturday but now not able to go there, will take a picnic lunch as it is dry today and getting warmer for the weekend.
Take care folks and stay safe.
Congrats to Goldie for the happy news.
Other issue here is we have had no internet other than by mobile as Orange the supplier have had a big incident just over 24 hours, hope it will be sorted as our phone is also not working at least the mobiles are, not good when OH ex IT and having to find other chores to do haha.

When out with Rosa this morning while she was enjoying a run around with a couple of her it seems many mates one of the owners (who is one of the operating theatre "technicians" at our nearest Hospital was saying that they have several large storerooms full of ppe ready for the espected wave of infections(not just covid) over the next months and a big ward is ready ,and are hoping the "experts" are not correct, but are now as ready as they can be this time
