Beaut pic C, it stands up well to close scrutiny. You’ve caught the mood beautifully👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I’m envious that someone can actually say of that photo of C’s-‘this is the view from my Cottage’. I thought my view of a meadow then onto fields was good but that view in the pic is just stunning.

I wish I could say I’d like to have been a Teacher but I don’t have the patience🤷🏻♂️🙂

Home after a wonderful 10’night break first at Berwick then 3 nights at a north Berwick. Weather wasn’t great but not too bad for the time of year the Northumberland coast is lovely at this time of year we had a nice day on Lindisfarne last week which was enjoyable done a lot of walking. Was nice to get out for a meal which we can’t do at home at the moment due to our pubs and restaurants being closed as I said on an earlier post the Lindisfarne Inn was excellent well worth a visit for anyone when in the area the meal was first class. Was also nice to meet TG and OH and have a chat with them. North Berwick was nice too the site was almost full the time we were there the site is nice and in a great area in normal circumstances there is so much to do in the area and the town itself is lovely. That will probably be our last longer trip this year we do have a week at Edinburgh booked for between Christmas and New Year hoping we get. Easy two hour tow home today both the car and caravan were dirty so got both washed as soon as we were home and got the van back in it’s space. Hoping to get away for a couple of nights next weekend just locally.
Congrats H&T on your anniversary.
Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

Lovely to hear everyone's news. I love all the photos of the beautiful autumn colours. The trees are just amazing this year. Mother Nature has a way of cheering us up. We have just had the most gorgeous rainbow here but it had gone by the time I went to photograph it.
Bleated Happy Anniversary H&T. I hope you enjoyed your take away meal and blackberry gin.
WN I hope you got your drop offs the right way round in town the other day

TDA Such a good answer about the Santa question. I loved it. Of course he is magic otherwise how could get get down all those chimneys after eating all those mince pies

Bakers2 We love the programme about the Tower of London as well. Wasn't it surreal this week when it was completely shut during lockdown.
brue I hope your little dog is fully recovered. She will probably recover much quicker than your bank balance!
Following on from OH's cousin's visit 2 weeks ago she and I and also youngest on in NI have been busy researching OH's family history and his cousin has emailed some very interesting bits and bobs. It turns out that their grandparents had 6 children in all (or maybe more
) but only 2 survived into adulthood - OH's father and uncle. What terribly sad and difficult times. On one of the census grandmother is back in her family home although classed as 'married' and grandfather is in his parents home and classed as 'single'
. Next census they are back under the same roof - who knows! We heard the happy news this week that 2 of our grandchildren passed the 11+ so we are all very proud, pleased and relieved. It is so lovely that both of them passed. We call them the 'cousin twins' as they were born a day apart. They will be applying to different grammar schools as they live in different areas of LIncolnshire. The only county round here to have grammar schools. We spent yesterday at son's having a celebratory lunch with them and at daughter's house today for the same. Such a shame that we cannot all get together.
By the way. I have had a cordless Dyson for a few years now and wouldn't be without it. We bought Grand-daughter and her partner a Vax cordless as a house warming present and they love that as well. The only slight drawback with both is that they do need a complete clean every so often (rather than just an empty).
Gosh hasn't it got dark early today

Apparently Millie they said that the Ravens missed the tourists so much the staff were worried they may leave and we all know what that means.
Nice to hear your news. Also glad that you could celebrate the Gkids successes bearing in mind some of the restrictions applying in other regions. No Grammar schools in Cambridgeshire? I'm surprised.
After nearly a full day of rain yesterday we have had some periods of dryness today. Spent a goodly portion of it searching for adequate accommodation for a holiday in Summer next year for MiL, seeing as she has had 2 major holidays cancelled this year. Will try to firm up her preferences in the next day or two and arrange any travelling we do around her days. Only fair. I may tease the life out of her but she's been really level headed about the whole business this year. No bottom lip trembling (well at least not for spilt milk).
Besides which I haven't told her she's paying.
She has an inkling for Northumbria in late June as she has never been there but like Ttda's Mum she does need things like walk in showers and ground level accommodation. 1 -
Last time we stayed a Park Coppice ,we took our car to Tarn Hows with our motor caravan friends it was a bit "damp?"and was madeeven more "interesting" when as i was holding our previous dog,(Kizzy) all three others of the party found out how slippery one of the banks was.when all three slipped together and ended up nearly at the waters ede with very wet rear ends

Mixed weather here today, wet one minute then sun the next.
Met up with 2 of our Gkids at lunchtime, they came up the road yesterday as they are due back to boarding school today.
Eldest son and his wife were to have brought them up but as they are not allowed to stay overnight in Scotland, his wife's parents went halfway down to meet them and bring them back up.
We had a lovely meal and catch up with them, kids happy to be going back to see all their friends.
After lunch we took a scenic drive back home. Up over the hills, through the glens. The colours were stunning, thought we would stop off to see the salmon jumping at Bucanty but it was so busy there was nowhere to park. We carried on to Rumbling bridge, boy was it noisy. The force of water coming down I wouldn't want to be a salmon trying to get up stream. Will go out again through the week to Bucanty when its not so busy, its a great place to go as you can get right down the rocks to stand within feet of the salmon jumping. I took some great photos but still haven't mastered posting them on here.
Great to hear others news. Well done to Millies Gkids shame you could all get together but 2 visits is a bonus.
Edit, good to hear you got home safe Francis, our van was filthy when we got back to. Was good to meet you, OH and John.

TG, I walked up from the site to there around 4:00 this afternoon. It was a bit late to walk up the gorge and rain was in the air too. We'd been over to Kinross and had a couple of walks along by Lock Leven, but not really impressed with it, too busy especially with cyclists and too noise as well. We should have walked up the one side of gorge to the Crook of Devon and back the other, but didn't want to get caught out in the rain on a route we didn't know. Another time perhaps.
Nice to hear your news, millie, and we'll done to the grandchildren. Researching family can certain turn up some strange coincidences.
Hope you find accommodation to suit, WN.
Francis, pleased to hear that you got home ok,and had a good time at NB. Fingers crossed that there is plenty of choice of pitch when we get there tomorrow.
Tda, the boardwalk is still there, and a little sloppy too after the rain of the previous night. You could say that the ascent was "interesting", but fortunately we had no mishaps and only met one of two people going in the opposite direction. OH didn't fancy doing it in reverse so we descended by the road. We'll leave the other side till another time. Castle Campbell wasn't open so it was just a view from outside. It is one of the few locations of it's sort not used in the Outlander series, or at least doesn't figure in the map of the series' sites.

You are right Nellie, it’s Doune Castle. It looked like Castle Campbell though. Doune was also Winterfell in GOT1.

Must be a different Rumbling Bridge Nellie, we were at the one further up river from 'The Hermitage' having driven out the Crieff road then turned right across to GlenAlmond and Amulree. Lovely drive even on a miserable day.

Another funny sort of day here, raining and sunny spells, we are in sunset mode at just now, so blue skies with pink clouds

Today would have been my Mum's 94th birthday, can't believe its been a year since she passed away.
The four of us went up to the garden of remembrance, me, OH, big sis and her OH. Took some flowers up and had a wee chat with Mum, told her she would not like what is happening just now. We have said many times this year "I'm grateful that Mum isn't still in a care home while all this is going on" I know she would not have been able to cope with it due to her dementia. So sorry for all those who have loved ones that are having to endure this horrible situation.
Don't seem to have been able to achieve much today, maybe tomorrow I'll get my mojo back
I really do not like these dark grey days.1 -
I've often thought the same about my Mum TG. My sister is near the care home where Mum lived and often has a chat with them to see how they all are, it would have been dreadful not to have been able to visit. Hope you feel back in the swing of things tomorrow!
We have some nice late afternoon light just now, I sat and did some work whilst OH took the dog out. We are still picking up apples, so many this year, a neighbour has asked for a bag.
We've booked a meal out later in the week, thanks to a voucher our eldest daughter gave us last Christmas, she was worried we wouldn't use it. So we're off to a nice hotel in Dorset for very early evening meal..hoping it won't be too busy!

One of the people I was writing about last week was still depressed that she couldn't get to see her mother in the care home before she passed away. I think you are right TG about blessings in disguise.
Supposed to rain for most of the day but fortunately didn't and then only when we were inside anyway. The roads still seemed busy to me as if lockdown hadn't been imposed. I suppose everyone could have been going to buy food on a Monday morning.
The Coq au Vin that's been slowly cooking for the last 2 hours should be ready in another hour. Smell is making me hungry. Suppose we'll have to finish the bottle of red.

Hope you enjoy the belated meal Brue when you get there.

When out on one Rosas walks ,met a "newby" dog walker ,very friendly Dog(collie) and her, found out her office at Tesco HQ overlooks the covid testing station and is always full for appointments although she says apart from early morning and early evening it seems empty, and the theory in her office for long distance journeys for testing is not that test station bookings are full but the labs have not the capacity to cope and once used show full so each testing station has an allocation ?

Kind wishes to both of you, TG and Brue, regarding your Mums. I cannot imagine not being able to see Mum, so despite the limitations it puts on our life, helping to care for her, it’s the best decision for us having her at home. Our Mum is doing ok, tough some days keeping her occupied, as attention span is short at certain times, and getting enough exercise for her can be a tad limiting, but she’s doing ok. In fact today was day I got to talk to GP and Memory Clinic, and all is fine for her.
Another positive result as well, MH sailed through MOT for sixth year running today. Had timing belt replaced, but we knew this was due, and it’s not something to overlook, so we are ok to go again. Hoping lockdown in SY eases towards end of November, we might just get away for OHs birthday, but we are quite chilled if we don’t manage it. Whether it will be cottage or MH, not sure. Could be both, it worked well in Norfolk😁

Best wishes to you both TG and brue. I know how you feel about being grateful that your Mum's are not having to go through this. OH's uncle died in a care home in June and his aunt is still living there. OH's cousins were not able to see them since March. It has to be Whatsapp calls to his aunt which isnt easy as she has dementia.
Odd day weatherwise here. One minute brilliant sunshine and the next minute dark skies and a heavy shower. OH managed to give our rambling rector rose a severe haircut in between the rain while I blitzed the downstairs indoors. Grand-daughter, her partner and gt grandson popped over to see us this afternoon which gave us a much needed lift.
Enjoy your meal later in the week brue. We are hoping to have a day at Easton Walled garden later in the week weather permitting.

A day of heavy showers then bright sunshine. Still an excuse to visit the nearest tearoom when it's raining 🙂

That's one we've not visited yet, but is on the list for another year.

Definitely a different one, TG, this one is on the A823 towards the Text of Muckhart, just off the A977. I must give your one a visit sometime. We drove up that road as far as Glen Turret when we stopped at Auchterader on our way north.

We moved down to Yellowcraig today, our occasional visit to a CC site, and a new one for us. We got a bit wet getting ready for the off, rained a bit on the way down, and then started as I was setting up again. We did manage a decent dry walk after lunch through the woods and onto the beach. More heavy rain showers in the late afternoon, along with beautiful rainbows.
Met up with a couple of friends who used to post on here, as Lenchen, and have 2 lovely Red Setters. They have a seasonal pitch here, and we had a good chat while standing outside their caravan. Will meet up with them again during the week.3 -
Glad you made it to Yellowcraig ok Nellie it’s a lovely site one we have used a few times. Its a nice area when we were there at the weekend we had lunch in the cafe at the sea bird centre in the town very nice food and it’s dog friendly too worth a try if you are looking for somewhere decent to eat. We were on pitch 72 one of the hardstanding pitches just around from the toilet block the grass ones were looking a bit muddy with all the rain over the weekend.

I remember Lenchen and those lovely setters, please say hello to them from me.
Glad to hear you arrived safely even if a bit wet. We haven't been to Yellowcraig for years so must be due a visit. We've had a few lovely rainbows the last few days, very bright colours not the muted kind.
Thanks for the info on the other rumbling bridge will make a note, we often drive out that way so will look out for it.
