laughinglaughing Wish I had seen your original post, I could have suggested looking there. The same happened to OH last year, he got his sorted in a couple of days back then.

Great afternoon, drove up to Rutland water then got the bikes out and cycled all the way around it. Wish we had charged the batteries up before going, we only just had enough juice to get us back surprised

Off to Kessingland tomorrow until Monday, then going back up the road. Need to be home the following weekend.

Glad to hear that MIL has finally recovered her hearing aid, but sorry to hear of the possible postponement of OH's long awaited dental appointment, WN.

Hope that the vet is able to sort out Dora's lump, B2, and that it finally stops raining down there. Nice that you will get to see your son this weekend.

Pleased to hear that Callum has tested negative, Kjell. That was a good fast turn round with the results. .....  About the route to Gamrie Bay site, coming from Banchory/Aberdeen up the A90 I'd suggest turning off a few miles north of Ellon onto the A952 to Mintlaw, then the A950 through to the A98 towards Macduff. Turn right off this just after Crudie onto minor road by Greenbank Caravans, where it is signposted to Gardenstown and there us a brown sign for the site.

Amateur carers😁 Something lost......you search everywhere, trust me!😬 My sister has an extensive colour coded list that requires checking off carefully every time we depart a holiday cottage. All is well until Mum loses the list........😂

seriously though, glad they found it, could have been a right old problem.

I have been looking after Mum most of day today. This morning was hair wash, cut, and blow, then off all spruced up for Flu jab. One never knows who one might meet on such occasions, so one has to look ones best. In reality, car window was rolled down, a masked, gloved and gowned person jabs you in the arm and it ends with “ta ra, keep safe, see you next year”. Then we did errands.......pot of paint back to DIY shop, it wasn’t ours, put in wrong bag. Bumped into SIL with little GD in tow, so a happy distanced 10 minutes catch up Then drop off goodies for cousin at her Charity Shop, then to local Boundary Mills to take back OH’s shoes that have fallen apart, luckily no need to talk tough. Then knock on BILs door, step back and say hello at a distance. Thank you present for housesitting for us, good to see him in the flesh, only second time since March. Finally, that good old family favourite, the coal run. Smokeless fuel collected to top us up until Xmas. All in all, not a bad day, Mum enjoyed being out and about, albeit she never stepped out of car. She loves the Autumn colours, and just waving to other folks at a distance keeps her part of the loop. Home for tea and stickies.....😁

To be fair to us amateurs, Ttda, we did actually ask her if it was still in her ear, admittedly albeit in a joking way, but were given "The Look👺" so not entirely our fault. She's now been talked into a different type, just in case... etc so that will set her back a four figure sum. Inheritance? What Inheritance?wink

The morning stateside fine so washing was done before we moved down to Cruden Bay. The journey started off fine until we came to a road closed warning, no indication of how far away it was or indication of alternative route so we ploughed on until met barrier and no division arrows.yell Took chance and fortunately selected a decent alternative so we ended up only doing an extra 6 mls.

Oh yes...the “look” know it well (she says, backing away gently and quietly)

Walking on eggs I understand is far easier. 😬😂 Love her to bits though, still has a wonderful sense of humour.

Some road closures are really annoying. Usually turns out to indicate a side road you never intended using, but the signs aren’t clear😡 I have been out and about today all over locally in car, and most of road signage is hidden behind overgrown foliage, another hindrance.Ok if you are a local, but not so good if you don’t know the roads.

Decided to watch Abigail's Party on the TV and concentrate on it properly! I knew they'd tried to cover up Alison Steadman's advanced pregnancy but years ago in the original version on our little Sony TV I just thought she was wearing an over voluminous dress. A cringeworthy look back at the 70s! In the meantime the new breadmachine was turning out a complete dud...must concentrate on the small print, can I blame all this on being in a medium risk area  or just a tier 2 covid brain? wink

Ah, the dud loaf. I happen to love very dense bread, so having knowingly tried an out of date bread mix (only a couple of days) in ours, got the expected result. A moist but cooked lump.😂 Great toasted though........ Shows how critical yeast must be. Next one will be using individual ingredients, if that fails, it will be a new bread maker☹️ Sis does dough using mixer and dough hook, leaves to prove, into oven. Delicious. We have had to order a freezer for garage😋

Post this morning included a letter to OH from NHS to make an appointment at a clinic after a referral from our GP

On the letter were two hospitals close to us to make appointments with via on line  systems

Went on line ,both hospitals gave how long it would be before an appointment was available tried and both came back as not taking appointments at this time

Rang number on letter for those not on line and we were advised no appointments until further notice but to  wait for a phone call?

I had an appointment for a phone consultation on Nov 9th, carried forward from my cancelled 6th june appointment.   The phone one has just been cancelled today as I am not considered urgent.

We will be falling out with the Mercedes dealership.  They have not given any progress reports on the work, did not ring back regarding the mix up on times, or reply to a recent e mail OH sent asking when the car would be ready.

So this morning, as we really need the car back by tomorrow, OH rang them again, and yet again they did not ring back, despite being told it was urgent.  After an hour she rang again, got a different person, asked to be put through to the service manager, and eventually did get to speak to someone with some sense.

Despite having authorised the work on Monday, they had done nothing, no parts ordered, even told her the work had NOT been authorised!   When she gave the name of the person who had confirmed by e mail that she had authorised the work, it was a different story.  They  investigated and rang back within minutes to say the parts would be there tomorrow and the work completed.

Meantime, however, she has been looking on review sites and has found that all their reviews are slating their customer service, and not just that outlet, all their branches!  So seems our experience is not unusual.

It's strange how often that you come across a network of shops or dealerships and they all have the same problem Kj.

Talking of cancelled appointments Mrs WN had the expected early morning phone call cancelling her dental visit as apparently the daughter of the dentist is very ill. They have rearranged by utilising the second appointment in 3 weeks time as the first and giving another one for 2 weeks after that. Talk about "All I want for Christmas..."

Had a quick walk today as we are waiting for someone to turn up to give us a quote for 4 new windows. Had several really old ones replaced a few years ago by them but these 4 will only be about 15 years old but we need something with a bit more insulation factor.

Speaking to someone in the village as they were moving their caravan. Dealer rang them up and gave them an offer they couldn't refuse. Only 12 month old van as well. Dealer says he can't get his hands on enough stock to sell.

It is strange WN, especially as they have been good up till this year.  Something has presumably changed recently.  Total breakdown in their ability to communicate with customers or amongst their staff!

I'm finally booked in mid December at our dentist..will I actually get there I wonder? Like you TDA I'm trying to look after my teeth (unlike the Pam Ayres poem. wink)

We had a lovely walk around NT Barrington Court this morning, got there early, took it in turns with the dog who was only allowed round the perimeter. Autumn colours very beautiful, here's a sample. 🍁🍂

Perhaps they have reduced staff numbers during Covid which leaves a much less viable customer workface?

I would not have expected that to still be the case brue, they had plenty of service booking slots available at fairly short notice, unlike the VW dealership, and they are widely advertising cars for sale, both new and used.

The dire reviews seem to have started some 8 months back, so pre-date the time when they had to shut for a while.

Even if they had fewer staff than previously, that does not explain why they are not communicating properly within the premises, updating on-line progress reports, which they provide links to, or bothering to reply to e mails or phone calls.

It was almost as if our car had been kidnapped!

if it in a similar situation as my daughters previos dealership  i would as she says the remaining staff are trying to make a case ,as the directors who cut many staff ,but  are still living comfortably

I think if service industry companies cut staff it usually ends up with much less shared information, especially if people are working from home, communications can get muddled. I've no idea if directors ( in some cases) are still living comfortably JVB, I think many will be fearful for the end results just now. innocent

Arrived at White house beach, Kessingland just before 1pm. 6 units in front of us mostly MHs.

Quickly dispatched by the wardens only hold up is if someone wants to go beach side, they have to go and look first to say which pitch they are going on. We were offered a choice of 2 but had already decided we would go on the other side in the campsite proper. We are tucked up in a corner out of the way, trees and fields behind ussmile

Drive down was ok but the last leg was a bit windy and narrow in places, lots of big trucks coming the opposite direction, trying to keep van out of the hedgerow was fun not.

Once set up and late lunch over we took a drive to the nearest supermarket, Morrisons. Its in a new retail area with lots of other shops including Aldi. Might investigate further if we have a wet day.

Lots of things to do in the area, all we need now is some decent weather. Currently clouds with blue patches and a bit of sun.

I collected my first Aldi click and collect order this morning. Ordered and chose my slot online. Parked in one of the designated parking spaces, texted my name and order number and my order was brought out and put in the car boot and all done. I was most impressed and will certainly use it again.

When I went to the dentist last week she wore a very robust face mask that looked like a gas mask. I had no idea what she was saying. I could have been agreeing to her taking all my teeth out for all I knew 😮. Luckily she was asking whether I wanted a clean and polish 😁.

I will be interested what you think of the site at Lowestoft TG, although I must admit we didnt really enjoy the journey when we went to that area in our MH a few years ago. I hope you enjoy your stay there.

I am a worried about Bakers2. I seem to remember she was looking forward to a visit from her son this weekend and I have seen on the news that Essex is now under lockdown with no indoor mixing of households. I do hope her son can be in a 'bubble' with the Bakers2.

Looked like a good day out, brue, still plenty of colour in the plants there.

Good to hear that you've arrived safe and sound at Kessingland, TG. Plenty of interesting places for you to visit in the area if the weather holds fine for you.

Essential shopping day for us so a visit to Peterhead was called for. After doing the socially distanced and masked rounds of Asda,  Lidl and Aldi we parked up by the Memorial Bridge and after lunch had a walk along the shore by the golf course. It was fine for most of the day but threatening rain at times which fortunately didn't materialize. Stopped off at Boddam for a short walk around Buchan News Lighthouse and the harbour from where we saw and heard lots of Grey Seals in the water and a few on the rocks too.
