Delighted to hear of your good news, Tammygirl, and congratulations to you and yours  smile.

I sincerely hope you will be having a flag-pole installed soon.  Well I'm assuming that you will be having loads of '6's round for celebrations and you'll need to have a reference point for them  wink.

And you have every right to be proud of him. Congrats all round.👏

Sounds like you've had better weather than us over here in lockdown Wales. Rained all day but stopped about 15 minutes ago. No use now. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I hope we can get some agreement on Monday that all countries within the United Kingdom act as one with their rules and regs as it seems that we are denied rights granted to other UK citizens who have the same C19 situations as we do.

I'm a bit like Boris, WN, and not just in shape / physique embarassed, in that I cannot tell anybody exactly what the relevant rules are in their local areas.  I'm still where I have been all year, sitting in front of my PC at home and haven't been above 15 miles from my front door & usual parking spot.

I've been getting wound up this afternoon though 'cos I've been posting about Applecross and Altnahara and I'll have a good evening meal & retire early to dream the dreams of the young and innocent !!

If I can make it through to Tuesday afternoon in one sane piece, well I might, just might, book a couple of other sites as well to get reet oop norf  for Easter, some Eggs and Ospreys, and more eggs Deo Volente.

Thanks all for your comments,we are very proud of him.

Bakers, he told us as soon as he knew himself he'd been awarded it. He however had known since the begining of the year that he had been put up for it.

WN, we have been very fortunate with the weather so far, might change next week we are off to Peterborough for a few days. So far we've never been there in anything but rain.frown

Like you hope they can all sing from the same hymn sheet, its getting silly now.

Saw today that folk from Glasgow have travelled to my home town Perth, to party for the weekend as Glasgow and the central region have had to close down their pubs. Shame they didn't check first, pubs elsewhere in Scotland have to close at 6pm. Many in my town decided to close down as not worth being open.laughing

Found out today some on site have come away from lockdown areas to meet up with family as they can't do that at home.yell

Probably not TDA, more like Sandhurst, presentation to made by Chief of the General Staff. When this will happen he doesn't know.

Not wood at all, B2, but welded steel plates. The colour is due to the steel rusting. That one, and the others at Seaham, are really worth seeing. Look them up of the web under his name, Ray Lonsdale, Steel fabricator, or use this link :-

Congratulations to your son, and his proud parents too, TG. With regards to being away, it's so much safer on a CL than a club site, especially at a weekends or during half term I think. With regards to the site we're on I'll let you know later as it is the subject of a quiz on another forum at the moment.

Well done that lad TG......congratulations to him and the proud parents!

Been a reasonable day here, sunny and not too much rain.

Clearing out the rest of DD's spare room, which will become the new babe's room eventually.  There were 4 metres of IKEA Pax  wardrobes along one wall, strangely the longest wall, so they made the room very  long and narrow.

The room requires extensive work, the ceiling has been strangely lowered, so will be hoisted up again to look more normal, plus a lot of other work, so will not be a quick job!

She is getting people in to do that, and the en suite bathroom.

It was the original kitchen in the house, but was made into a bedroom back in the 90s, so walls and flooring, an old hearth, will be a problem, plus the woodwork needs sorted, which apparently is going to be down to me!   First I heard of that was today, DD and OH have been planning and plotting!

The day here was fine until mid afternoon and since then we've had many short but sharp squalls of rain. After a rather late rise we drove into the nearest town to fill up with fuel and some more food. Then a walk along by the shore before lunch in the car, followed by a further walk on the beach where Flyte had a good run and dip in the tide. Just made it back to the car before the rain started.

We left Norfolk in the wet Nellie, this morning. Dry and brighter once we had left Kings Lynn behind, and lovely and sunny on final leg of A1. We arrived home in sunshine, unloaded MH, then a huge down pour before we put it away.

(Anyone down there at the moment, we called into a lovely farm shop called Back To The Garden, not far from Thursford, recommended👍)

Have just loaded dishwasher........sheer bliss after 10 days without one!🥳

I have to look well past the bonnet, 'cos the Ducky is very short in that department, and I would dearly love to get out of the avenue without using all the other parked cars as dodgems, it makes such a terrible noise  surprised

    Very quiet on here today.

Quite a nice day here sunny but cold. We are not long home from a nice weekend at The Ranch AS site one of our Local haunts as always was great very relaxing although the site was getting very busy as we were leaving it would seem the new restrictions aren’t stopping people going away it is the school holidays here this week though. Got home after an easy 45 min tow home the car needed a wash so done that before it got too cold. We are due away again next week down south but will depend on what Boris announces tomorrow we are due to be away For 10 days In the dales. If we don’t get down south we will probably just go away for the weekend locally again.

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend.

Very, very special day today. The SUN has shone all day!!!!

Took advantage and had a stroll for a few hours this morning. The gardening can wait.

We ordered some clothing from M&S online, to be picked up locally at one of their foodhalls on Tuesday when we have to go down to that area. Pick up a few bits of food at the same time etc. Had an email from them yesterday telling us that the items were ready for collection up until closing on Monday when they would be returned to the stores if not picked up. So why had they ignored our chosen day of collection? Messes our week up, having to go that area twice on consecutive days.

We had actually planned on choosing and picking them up from the Harrogate store when over there last week but obviously had to change our mind due to cancellation. So if we only had one day to pick them up we may very well have had our order returned and cancelled.

Not very customer friendly. Hope it's only a glitch but beware and read your emails carefully if ordering online and picking up from store.

    I have emailed them but....

Glorious day here too! Breeze rather chilly if the sun has hidden, it did a few times.

More of a proper run for Dora this morning, she sure needed it! But still need to limit her. All healed very nicely but small lump, which vet nurse said keep an eye on seems to be growing, movable and not painful but I do want her seen tomorrow. All checks since her OP have been by photo and phone, mind you at least we can talk to them - much harder if you want GP 😉. 10 days of little exercise and then lead walk isn't anywhere near enough for an energetic puppy! But at least I'm happier when the intact boys come sniffing around her 😉

Washing line dried, another lot out.

Took ourselves off to Tiptree Tearooms at Writtle for lunch, just sandwiches or jackets plus cake on the menu, sat outside but seems dogs allowed in. Never occurred to us to ask! Madam rather vocal whilst other dogs queued near her. Not like her at all. All mask wearing, including staff, unless eating was requested - mostly fully observed. They were very busy which is nice to see as they had to give up part of their area, usually frequented by the students, when restrictions were first lifted. Fingers crossed they can continue. Bought cake as takeaway as too full to enjoy, not eaten it yet. They were offering a take way service too.

Sounds like others enjoying their day. Fingers crossed we can continue to after tomorrow 🤔

    Edit

I placed order with M&S qualified for free home delivery but opted for tuesday collection, a reason for a walk and like Wherenext at food visit too. Hope I don't regret it! One item at least will have to go back, ordered different sizes and styles for fit as all rather haphazard these days!

Hope you like the clothes when you get them WN!

edit and you too B2...rhyming couplets now! wink

I was looking for local charities last night who'd take clothes etc, could only find one and they accept two bags only, my plans to clear out stuff aren't working.

A lovely day here too, OH up very early for fishing and somehow I've got more done today (except I nearly lost the dog, gate not shut properly but unlike our old terrier who frequently came back under someone's arm after a determined rocket like escape our latest edition just wants to nose round the big front garden.)

OH didn't have a good week, two visits to the dentist included so I'm glad he's had a day out.

My ancient Breadmaker has finally given up the ghost, a part broke off from the motorised bit, I'm glad it didn't go into the bread or we'd both be visiting the dentist...memories of a small lump of concrete in our wedding cake! Found a breadmaker on line, not many in stock so ordered the smaller Panasonic one.

Not looking forward to all the virus edicts next week, more news overload, so I've decided to read some really gossipy books on my Kindle instead...wink

Thanks nelliethehooker re comments on statue. Good read too.

KjNelln sorry to read about your wife's eye, might explain my problem too! Opticians on 21st, often feels very dry and like theres something in it, like a folded contact lense. I hope I'm wrong.

Weather not as good as forecast, how often do I say that laughing

Should have been nice but we got lots of mizzle showers on and off.

Took a run through to Filey and then onto Bridlington. Busy in Brid you would have thought it was mid summer not mid October. Only the weather told a different story. We did however partake of fish and chips ( to many chips) and then later an ice cream. Well you have to don't you, laughing I did draw the line at donuts and candy floss though. No cooking for me tonight, unless toast can be called cookingundecided

Off to Peterborough tomorrow for 3 nights, it will probably rain it usually doesfrown

Francis, quick question (cos I'm nosey) if you don't come down to the Dales why not go somewhere in Scotland instead, during the week rather than wait until the weekend when its always busier. Just wondering smile

WN, glad you had a better day today. M&S did that to me to yell

Bakers, I get a lot of dry eye so use Viscotears or similar , they really help with that feeling of something in the eye. At night I use Lacri-Lube.

Tammygirl I do use drops 3 or 4 times a day. The folded contact lenses or even a split in a contact lense feeling persists! Trying not to over think it.

I do hope you enjoy Peterborough stay and that the weather us kind. Will you be able to catch up with milliehull? She used to do Tuesday mornings at the cathedral I think.

I am cooking so must go attend to things otherwise itll be a big mess!

Hope you like the clothes when you get them WN!

I have been known to do a bit of cross dressing but the Bra size might be a bit on the big size for me.😊

Mrs WN has eye problems and actually suffered a small tear when the inside of her eyelid stuck to an eye during the night. Fortunately not in a critical place. She uses Lacri-Lube as well plus Hyabak drops and has a spray that will soak through the eyelid to dnsure no more rips if the same thing happens again.

Weather should be mostly dry for you next week Nellie as any rain will be centred around Peterborough.😂

Huge congraulations to your son TG. What a wonderful achievement. You must be immensly proud of him. Yes Bakers2 is right. I am on duty at the Cathedral on Tuesday mornings 10.00 to 1.00. I do Friday mornings as well. It would be really good to see you if you fancy popping in. I hope you have a good time in Peterborough whatever the weather. The forecast is good for Wednesday 😊

We had a visit from OH's cousin today.(the daughter of the uncle who died aged 95 during lock down). She lives 'up north' and rang last night to say her husband was going to be in our area for a pub lunch and walk with some old Uni friends and she would like to come with him so she could come to see us. Although we keep in touch with letters, phone calls and cards we hadnt seen her for years so it was a really lovely catch up.

We might well do that TG not sure yet we are hoping to get down south as we were looking forward to it but as I say we shall wait and see. We visited Bridlington in the summer but to be honest we didn’t like it we found it very run down we prefer Whitby.

TG, hope the weather improves for you down at Peterborough, whatever WN says. As for where are we I wonder if you can guess, as today we drove all of 3 mils down to the coast and walked  for about a mile from one secluded fishing village and harbour to another smaller one. We did get caught out in a couple of drizzly squall too. Watched the Gannets circling and diving into the surf as we had lunch in the car. The site is good, all H/ S with serviced pitches but no toilet block, and has been extended to provide a second small commercial site.

Bridlington the town is quite frankly awful. But the surrounding countryside is beautiful, lovely walks, scenery, places to visit. Sewerby Park, just to the North is lovely. But we never go into the town, tacky, run down and dominated by that awful seafront funfair. ☹️

It’s usually drier, but not this time sadly. No churches open either, understandable. We were very restricted in terms of walking because of Mum, but it was about getting her away more than anything, and we made our own fun and entertainment.😁 But we need to go back when times are better, it’s a lovely place.

At the moment we are at Buxton for a few days.  Seems like a nice site.  It's in an old quarry, and as such, see.s very sheltered.  Lovely autumn day today, although I think tomorrow may well be a little less good....

We've had a quiet weekend away at Englethwaite Hall. We got there about 2:30 on Friday and left at 4.30 yesterday (we paid for the extra night so we could leave when we wanted).

Did nothing much - a lot of sleeping, plus reading, eating, drinking and catching up with stuff on IPlayer. And no interaction with anyone, apart  from booking in through a perspex screen. We were in a quite corner (near the bottom of the steps if you know the site) and loved it.

We would liked to go back in a month (only get one weekend a month off). But the site will have closed, so we have booked Troutbeck Head. A much dearer site! But heigh Ho, it's worth it for the chance to go away.
