Grand dog son and DIL just left 😪. Nice couple of hours with them, should have been longer but son has conference call at 1630 which he couldn't get out of and DIL has tennis at 1800. Really lovely to catch up shame it was so short.

I prepared sandwich lunch which we ate in the conservatory with the doors open, its dry and warmish, hot in here when the suns out. I have washing line drying too 😃

Fingers crossed son should be here bed and board, for onward transmission to golf break 😉, 17th and we've earmarked weekend after OH birthday, he's a firework, for a stay here or there depending on weather in-between for drilling so something to look forward to. I'm feeling really drained by the whole situation at the mo 😪

I still wipe everything that comes into the house, I have an ice cream container with bleach solution on the draining board with cloth, for ease, wipe over and airdry Its become routine but does stress me out when online grocery shop arrives. Was bad when it came in bags but now I opt for nothing, they do offer tray linings. Just had one so far, trays into the kitchen unload onto work surface and then deal with. A neighbour had hers emptied onto Hall floor totally unexpectedly 😱. I was going to stop as possibly being a bit OTT but then cases, not here, spiked and I decided it was silly to undo all the good work. Yes thorough hand wash after too. Not read Goldie's link yet but will do later. I caught a bit on the radio this morning which implied it wasn't strategic from what I can gather, will do that on catch was the today programme shortly before 9am.

I suspect some of it is comforting ourselves we are doing our best.

What does bother me is the soft play industry whining because they apparently still cannot open. We had some soft play areas in our LC’s.......nightmare to keep hygienic. Much like the McDonalds screens, urine and faeces where urine and faeces just shouldn’t be🤢 I am not enjoying seeing children on any kind of play equipment to be honest...... whilst the virus might not be bad for them, heaven knows what they are taking home on clothes, etc......

We are rocking Apple Pay mainly. My phone, my disinfected finger, job done.😉 And no one gets to stroke the dog🤣

I stopped wiping down the shopping ages ago. We still wear masks and wash or sanitize hands frequently when out and about. I have not used a Public loo or supermarket loo since this all started.

I noticed today that in Asda they have started wiping down the screens after each customer in the self service checkouts.

Busy day today, shopping this morning then after lunch we packed the caravan ready for the off tomorrow. We were going to wait a few more days for the weather to settle but Nicola looks to be considering stricter measures. So we've decided to go south tomorrow before she announces them.

    First stop Berwick on Tweedlaughing

Had rain this morning but its been quite nice this afternoon, warmer than I expected.

Local kids now on half term for 2 weeks.

There was a discussion on radio 4 earlier today about covid, surfaces versus airborne risks, apparently the highest risk is airborne covid in poorly ventilated areas where the virus can remain in the air for a couple of hours...frown

But it was mentioned that we must still work out what suits us according to our own needs, eg the interviewer knew someone who put their daily paper in the AGA to kill off the virus....how's that for another use of AGAs! wink

TG, the difference between Covid cases in the Borders and the North Tyneside/Northumberland area is massive...don't venture too far into the NE, things are very limited there just now.

We do a wonderfully decadent Macaroni Bolognese. No meat, we just  make a bottom layer with onions, mushrooms, peppers, sweet corn in a rich tomato sauce. Then top it with a Macaroni in a very rich cheese sauce (extra mature cheddar, and Parmesan work wonderful), top with a sprinkle layer of porridge oats, topped with more cheese! The tomato layer bubbles up through the cheese layer, while the oats and cheese give a crisp top. Calories? Off the scale, but once or twice a year, we survive😁

Back to work today, quite busy. Weather has been slightly better today,  after a very wet weekend.

Had message from youngest son, he was asked to submit one of his photographs for a charity calendar,  he was chuffed. His photo will be December.

I had stopped wiping down shopping etc, but have been washing hands frequently and do wear a mask when required.  The cases in our area have been fairly low compared to some.

Safe trip Tammygirl, enjoy your holiday.

Cheers brue, we would normally stop at Middlesbrough but decided that as they've just been added to the list we stop earlier. Haven't been to Berwick in a couple of years so be good to re visit. Second stop is Scarborough.

    Thanks H&Tsmile

Francis, we too are just waiting to see what has been decided at the parliamentary meetings today and tomorrow. At present we're on a CL near Aviemore, booked to move to Moray coast on Friday, but should a lockdown be enforced we'll set off back to England and decide where to go when we get over the border, although I think the North East is out of the reckoning.

A much improved day here with only the odd rain shower and occasional spots of drizzle. After restocking at Tesco and Aldi we went walking in Rothiemurchus Forest. Talking to a Forest Ranger we commented on how little litter there was about. He said that once they'd removed the litter bins people started to take theirs home instead of just chucking it into the woods. However he did say that it was bad around Loch Morlich due to, in his words, "dirty camping", and I don't think he just meant those in tents!!

Our Surgery Works on the alphabetic list, KjellNN so virtually ALL my family get the call at the same time 'cos we are all " M"  class wink.

Actually the letters for mass calls are sent out from some office in the Cheltenham area I seem to recall, so they get opened hoping its a welcome gift from some unknown relatives estate, oh the let downs  frown

😬 We stayed near Berwick in September TG. Didn’t go into town, it was like the Whitby photo, absolutely packed, so we didn’t stop. The beaches just out of town over bridge at Scremerston were lovely though, few folks around, lots of space. Scarborough will be busy as well. Fingers crossed you get a good trip.🤞

I've been reading the shopping washing and the flu jab posts. I stopped wiping the shopping when cases dropped, maybe I should start again now? Although Devon was quite low now rising rapidly with the Exeter Uni students. Nothing goes on the work surfaces, all on the floor and put away from there.     Surgery sent OH a text inviting him for jab, nothing for me, although I usually have one. Luckily I rang straight away to book for us both, earliest was 13th Oct. Now had a message to say unless already booked don't ring as they have run out! Told to try pharmacy or wait til hopefully more stock.

Well, what a thoroughly miserable last 5 days it has been here in North Wales. Almost continuous rain, quite a fair bit of it heavy at times with several temporarily flooded roads around us.

Had to go to do some shopping this morning and thought it might be stopping as I had to put sunglasses on. Within a short period of time they were off.

    Hope everyone else faring better.

I like the quote of the day in the i today:

Start every day off with a smile and get it over with.smile

We're still being ultra cautious about cleaning surfaces. Who wants to be wrong?

Take care one and all, especially those out and about.

We're back to mud here, in all directions but I've believed tomorrow's forecast that it will be dry and I've booked a late visit to Stourhead (after 2pm when dogs are allowed.) That's our outing for the week the rest is cars, dentist, docs and the ongoing saga of helping one of our children to get a major roof repair (why are roofers so busy and why is scaffolding separate or included...yell)

I read the link you sent Goldie thank you and have taken note of all the comments on here.  I have always cleaned our shopping with a Zoflora solution before putting it all away and have decided that I will carry on doing that as it is what I feel comfortable with.  However it is a time consuming pain when the online shopping arrivesyell I also clean my surfaces a lot as well. The guidelines in the Cathedral are to sanitise and re-sanitise everything regularly. We have to take note of any chairs that people use and clean them thoroughly after use.  I am becoming The Queen of Clean.  laughing

I hope you enjoy West Ayton TG.  We had a week there a few years ago with some friends and thought it a lovely site.  We agree that the pub at the bottom of the hill is very good and we used it for meals occasionally and also for an early evening drink. We had a great day out on the North York Moors Railway (our main reason or going there), a day at Eden Camp which was excellent and a bus trip to Whitby (although you might want to avoid to crowds at the moment).  There is or was a very good bus service from the village. Rievaulx Abbey is one of my favourite places so we also spent some time there.  I hope your trip works out well.

Woke to a misty start to the day but it soon burnt off. Essential washing was completed and hung up in the van to dry. We went out walking by Loch Garten today, fine to start with, then rain then fine again. When we got back to the car there was a small group of birdwatchers in the car park looking up in the canopy. Went to see what was of interest (as,one does) and one of then pointed out the call of a Crested Tit. That person was none other than Mike Dilger, the BBC natural history presenter! Nice to see him in real life, but even he wasn't able to spot the bird!!undecided

Brue,  I can sympathise with your roofer problems,  our son  in Manchester is also major problems getting a small roof repair done, there are some real cowboys out there. We are not allowed to visit so can't help out either. frown

    Enjoy your afternoon at Stourhead.

I must admit that we have never wiped down individual shopping items, just washed our hands before and after handling things.

Today, OH was at optician as after cataract op and new lens for that eye, she has found she was no longer seeing properly.

Seems the lens   capsule has thickened and she will need another op, lasers will be involved.  4 month wait at least.

After that we went to Aldi and Waitrose, so freezer now stocked up again.

So sorry to hear about your OH's eye and the prospect of another op KjNN.

We have just had a lovely video call from our daughter so that we could all sing happy birthday to our grandson who is 13 today. Our eldest son had just popped over to ours for a chat so he joined in as well. Our son in NI had rung earlier for a long chat so after feeling rather 'down' yesterday today has been a good day 🙂

Had our Flu jabs today. They have a one way system in our surgery come in the main door and exit by the back door. No niceties of sitting down for a chat whilst its being done. Injected standing up to save cleaning furniture after every dose!!!

Did you see many seals, TDA?

    It’s an unusual landscape there.
