Got a lovely letter today, Individual appointments for 'flu jabs at surgery on Saturday, complete with eight (8) lines of requirements
.Still they are doing them and that is the important thing !! Now I'll be wondering if they will have Doctors named portraits on the walls ~~ well three have retired since last I saw one, and I really don't want to slip up and hurt their feelings now do I

We had a very good run thankfully to our cottage. We just managed to dodge what looked like a very bad accident though on A17......a very big trailer full of potatoes and towed by a huge tractor had gone off the road. Fire Engine, ambulance, police, we managed to get through but traffic was piling up. Do hope the tractor driver was ok. Then we had torrential rain at roundabout up towards Hunstanton, but it had completely cleared up, by time we were close to Fakenham.
Cottage is stunning, huge, we are playing eeny meeny miny mo with bedrooms😂Garden beautiful as well. The dog is in his element......hasn’t left the side of the Aga since we arrived. Lots of big trees down though, I bet it was one heck of a storm last week at a Incleborough.

Well, that's another year over, but I don't feel any different
??Nell, sorry if I've missed a post or six or am being rather dense but why is Brian getting the feeling that somebody has just sneaked a birthday cake past him, please

Glad you've arrived safely takethedogalong and that it seems lovely.
Yes storms badly damaged the ferry from Harwich to Shotley 😱 covered pretty wide area.
Fireworks, rather loud - especially as I've learnt from social media how far away from us they were! Not the first recently. Dora now breathing normally. Nothing too reactive but obviously heightened senses. Several posters apologising for barking dogs and saying others panicking. Some wag had stated sounds like a lot for 6 people to enjoy 🙁

No birthday cake for me, not part of my diet.....well maybe later over the weekend. I'd save to some but it could well be rather mouldy if or when we meet up.😉
Thanks all for your good wishes, and beautifully sang WN😀🤗

Absolutely filthy morning here 😱 pouring with rain and the odd gust of wind. Dora hadn't moved when I left the house 🤣. And it hasn't really started yet and we are on the fringes. Stay safe folks.
Currently sitting in the showroom waiting for new battery fitted. Plenty of space several like me awaiting vehicles and staff all wearing masks and social distancing and I can final people watch 😃. I'd forgotten the delights. I'm listening to Jenni Murrary's final Woman's Hour too. Examples of exceptions on mask wearing now by staff a suited gent wearing his in his chin 😱😱
I think most of us will need to avoid the wet stuff, possibly with the exception being those further north!
Looks like son and DIL will have a very chilled weekend

Belated happy birthay Nellie 🍰🍷. Hope you enjoy your cake.
Hope your flu jab doesnt hurt too much ABM
We should have been flying to NI today 😢. We thought we would have a day out to cheer ourselves up but looking at the weather have decided against it. We are going to defrost and reorganise the 2 freezers instead. Gosh what an exciting life I have 😂

Oh Milliehull your post made me smile. I'm sorry you're not visiting NI but I'm so with you about exciting lives we now lead.
My everyday now seems to be so similar to your today.
I just wish I could use my days to sort through all the photos and other memorabilia I bought home from mum and dad's but somehow the current circumstances make it more difficult but I have the time element in spades 😪

I agree about the photos Bakers2. We have so many boxes of them. I keep opening a box and then putting them away again thinking I will start doing it another day. We also found a load of paperwork that belonged to MIL (She has been dead for 20 years!) that I found recently that needs sorting through 😧.

Today we are going out! Out to lunch!
We're meeting up with my oldest friend and husband at what we think/hope is a suitably spaced out cafe.
It helps that I have a voucher from there to use up before Christmas. So. no dinner to make and if we eat enough not much supper to make. But a box of cheese has just been delivered from Appleby Creamery, so we may delve into that.

Comforting words Milliehull thank you. OH still hasn't done anything with his family photos - save putting them in the loft 17 years ago. I remember saying at the time not a suitable container, tin I believe or storage place, too extremes of temperature. Years of working with archives 🤣. Actually perhaps that is a sensible solution they can be thrown when the tin is opened as they're ruined 😱.
I'm so torn because I know the value, there's stuff that should be properly archived but knowing those who'll handle it means I want to ensure there's nothing I wouldn't want them to see so a double whammy! And for years I happily looked into others documents enthralled to learn but sort of ignoring the heartache. Detachment is great. I also have some possible bits for the local museum and the regimental museum, but they are closed to the public but working behind the scenes.

Our "spare/junk" room has all sorts in it from many of our 52 years of club membership and LVs (that looks usefull?) and more of OHs gran and parents (must not chuck that out) as well as boxes of photos that most will probably never be looked at again
Ps no pictures of my family or young days as all destroyed in a fire at parents home many years ago

Blimey
, Like Millieh, B2 & JVB I've just GOT to organize the photos & paperwork etc. My original solicitors have finally ceased soliciting ( ?
? ) and their duties have been taken on by a firm in DERBY who are pushing me to get myself & the next generation of executors sorted pronto, but I've only got a little way into the slides so far. I had intended putting C19 to a good use but, like so many, I'm more likely to be found chit-chatting on here than grafting like wot I should be doing. I suppose everything I've saved and sorted will be looked at by youngsters and swiftly disposed of into the Local Councils tender care --> Grey Waste bin !!
Still its keeping me sane and occupied for a good few months to come

Keep warm, dry and safe with both feet on the ground over this breezy weekend to come !
Have to agree about the attraction of that box of cheeses that Goldie has got ~ only just turned ten in the morning so I really should not be thinking of blocks of nice tasty calories like that

I have just had an Email from Herts county council ,that the 17 recycle centres in the county have been taken back into county control after the Contract with Amey has been terminated ,(was until 2023,) because they no longer can make a profit from them
The local council grounds maintainace contract looks to be going the in the same direction according to one of our councilors ,
It seems as if some areas of the "service industry?" are finding out they are not as easy to run as they hoped,at the prices they quote to "win" contracts
A lot of cc work is now done by service industry companies

That's me back home and having a cuppa. Great service and no charge 😀
Popped into town to return the trousers I bought 25 days ago, having found a pair that fit better, I have 28 days to do so. Put them in the bag with said receipt, all checked again this morning as I put them in the car in case there was time. Into the shop - gosh been a bit bored on ocassions at home but so sorry for shop staff who are just standing around and it was barely 10am! Handed over only to find no receipt. She hunted and shook the garment and bag as did I 🤣🤣 all to no avail 🙁. Shot in Wilko's for pigs in blanket treats for Dora, they only had the chicken fillets in the other day, that was successful.
Back at the car, thorough search of all areas in case it could have fallen out.Turned sofa, pockets, accounts drawer and paper recycling sack upside down once indoors. Complete mystery. I always wondered about folk selling things, brand new with labels and thought how careless. I now seem to have joined them.... Maybe just maybe it will leap out at me! OH thinks it's a clear sign I should stay away from town 🤣🤣. I think he's thinking of his wallet more than my welfare!
Dora had finally ventured into the garden, apparently not impressed, and less so when I made OH and her go for the 10 minute lead walk prescribed. Specifically for the dog at present by walking prescribed for OH last year, that's how come we got the dog....... Not sure which was most more disgruntled because of the weather 😉
JVB sad you lost all your family photos - but yours will be spared any dilemma with that issue. My dads younger brother always moaned about having photos - 'look at 'em when you collect 'em and then shove in the drawer never to see the light of day' always thought that rather harsh and heartless, actually I'm coming round to his way of thinking 😉.
Just had the call to say son and DIL are about to leave so will get a wet glimpse of them in about an hour 😀. For grand dog handover, at least I now know the location 😱 Must now do a few bits whilst it's a single dog household 🤣🤣
ABM ensure your will is lodged with will registration service, proper title escapes me at the mo, so many solicitors have been taken over, merged etc and tracking stuff can be difficult. We redid ours last year and that was one of the first things mentioned by them as our family firm ceased years before and we were never keen on the new folk. Bad enough sorting stuff like that without first having to locate a will if there was one....

Our council did the same JVB. The contract with Amey was terminated with quite a few years to run so must have cost the council quite a bit but they must think it is financially worthwhile.
So sorry to hear that your early photos were destroyed in a fire.0 -
I hear Mr and Mrs T have tested positive. It is going to be an 'interesting' election campaign!

Beautiful day here today, sorry bakers2, another 2 lots of washing done and on the line drying. Things put back in the caravan getting ready for the off again in a few days.
OH just brought the bikes over from the garage to give them a wash down. My knee is not to bad now as long as I remember not to kneel on it.
Belated happy birthday to nellie.
Sorry you are not in NI millie, must be a day for freezers did mine this morning waiting for the washing to finish, exciting or what.
Saw on the lunchtime news about Mr and Mrs T, will say no more

Interesting drive on the A12, plenty of surface water!, but wasnt reduced to mid 30 mph as the last time I drove in heavy rain. Lorry in front applied brakes and we caught a glimpse of the cab and it wasn't sudden or hard braking 😱
Swift handover as it was pouring, but good to glimpse both son and DIL no hugs 😢. Interesting to catch look on folks faces as dog handed over - could have looked dodgy. Dogs shared the back seat like strangers on a train 😂 and have settled down well indoors .
Very soon back down the opposite carriageway and OH remarked fire engine was now at the site where a car he'd seen in the way to meet. He said as I concentrated on the road - oh someone's spun it and has reversed into verge greenery. But it wasn't the first vehicle, that was still there as it was, but another that was on its roof 😱😱. Didn't look at time but in reckon no more than 20 -25 minutes between going up and coming back. Suspect road surface had something to do with both. The inside lane before there and there is a disgrace. A fire engine came down behind me and went back the opposite way and there was another heading there as the one my side went past. Thoughts are with the crews and car drivers and passengers.
Yes milliehull interesting times ahead re USA election I expect it'll fill our news bulletins and papers a bit more.

Tammygirl I dont begrudge you a beautiful day and drying washing outdoors, we do need the rain, just hope it's not as long lasting as forecast. I fear you may well get some soon anyway.
Good to know your knee isn't causing too many issues.

One freezer defrosted, the other one in the process. All food reorganised. I just hope I can remember which drawer everything is in 😁. Put washing to dry on the airer. Escaped for an hour to get stocked up in wilko. My life just gets more and more exciting 😂.
That sounds like a nasty accident if 2 fire engines were needed Bakers2. Thoughts with everyone concerned. Hope you have a good weekend with the 2 dogs.
I hope you enjoy your trip TG

May not have expressed myself well. As we went up the road, there was one car which OH reckoned had spun and was rear end into the shrubbery on the verge, fortunately good bit of verge before the shrubbery. He could see no more than that but no one outside the vehicle. No opportunity for me to stop On our return it had been joined by another vehicle on its roof on the actual verge before the shrubbery. Two separate incidents 2nd happened with minutes of our first passing. That's what made me wonder if road surface played a part.
I did our freezer the other day and a Wilko top up. I know how to enjoy myself.
Still persistently raining, 3 asleep here, I'm still fruitlessly searching for missing receipt - when not messing about on here 😉🤣 not inspired to do anything.
Just sold pet carrier Dora used twice before she outgrew it and now travels as a big girl with a seat belt. Just received text from buyer her 8 week old pup too big for it already 🤣.
Off to wipe down handles/handrails and my knocker. See the excitment never ceases 🤣. I might need to join KjNelln or actually borrow him! Plenty to do here just need someone to assist and inspire 😉 or Tammygirl as she always keeps occupied 😀

I know I've said it before but believe it or not this is really the same place and more or less the same viewpoint!
In today's photograph you can just see the old dry dock to the left of the tree. This is the site of the once mighty Swan Hunter shipyards. When I first started I would teach kids whose dads all worked here.

Bikes all washed and clean now, OH checked them over so maintenance done as well. Full sized bikes back in the garage and the folders now in their bags waiting to go in the car when we decide where we are going

Washing all dry and folded ready for ironing. Housework all done I've even cleaned the windows
had a good long chat with our 95 year old neighbour, she lives on her own so feeling a bit isolated with not being able to go to her club. The sun is setting now and the sky is lovely colours, we might even get to see the 'northern lights tonight'
I called BF this morning to discuss our options on a ferry crossing we have with them. We had carried it over from June to Oct. but of course we couldn't use it so just wondered what the options was.
Member of staff checked out the booking ref and offered us a full refund without me asking
I didn't think we would get offered that
the booking is on a flexi ticket so thought I could move it again to next year. It would seem we qualify for the refund because back in April our outbound ferry was cancelled by BF so the return part of it also qualifies for refund. Well done BF for the way you have treated your passengers with honesty and good will. Hoping now that next April we can attempt our trip to Spain again.
Looks like we are in for some bad weather tomorrow, our area has a yellow warning for flooding, where we live we are high enough for it not to affect us but in the city they could have so flooding.
Hope all those out and about are somewhere safe, take care folks its going to be a rough 24 hrs.
