Good to hear you got the refund TG, I'm all for refunds in the present circumstances, who knows what next year will bring! Hope your knee heals up well. Belated birthday wishes to Nellie. Just catching up on here!

Corners, I remember the views of those last ships at the end of the streets, they towered over the neighbourhoods. Can't believe the difference now.

Well that's us shattered, a 7 hour drive in lashing rain and finally home. Not doing anything tonight, the piles of washing can wait. Just winding down, sorting mail, phoning a few people, looking in on CT etc etc.smile

Glad you got back home safe and sound brue, 7 hour drives are shattering these days especially in bad weather and a Friday.

Thanks the knee is healing fine, should be back on the bike in no time.

Glad you got home safe, and very interesting that you saw them, and interesting that the roman fort was buried beneath those streets.

So pleased to hear that you are home safe and sound brue although it sounds like a shattering journey. Take it easy.

Eldest son and 10 year old grandson popped over to see us this evening. So lovely to see them. It gave us a real.lift.🙂 Son has been into his office 2 days this week. He had a long chat with his boss and HR and although he is diabetic they decided that it would be beneficial for his mental health thankfully. He has suffered with stress and depression since he had an op to remove a tumour from his pituritory gland 10 years ago. Some of it due to the medication he has to take. He seems much more like his old self as a result of being able to get out of the house for a couple of days.

Thanks all for the birthday greetings.

Glad to hear that you made it home safe and well, brue. A 7hr drive in poor weather is no joy at all.

Good to hear that your knee is not too painful, TG.

You certainly have had an "interesting" day B2. Time for a well earned rest now I think.

Nice for you to see son and grandson tonight millie, although I guess their visit doesn't make up fully for missing your trip to NI.

Sorry to hear of those that have had bad weather, wind and rain.

As TG said the weather's been grand up here today after rain during the night. We had a pleasant easy drive up to Bogroy, even with the roadworks on the A9. Yellow weather warnings on the roadside noticeboard for heavy rain tomorrow. Warm afternoon so we managed a walk along by the river and through the woods. At the moment we are being entertained by an accordion player at the farm house. Think it's someone's birthday.

Hippo Birdy from me as well Nellie😁

Nice day yesterday, at least weather was fairly kind. Norfolk’s latest pop up cafe got off to a great start yesterday. Located overlooking sea and nature reserve at Cley. Limited menu (cook stated “depends what’s in larder cupboard”), but crab sandwiches, hot soup and a selection of biscuits and other nibbles seemed to go down well. It had trouble with an elderly customer who refused to vacate her seat though. 😂

Getting in the swing of Aga life as well. Appears to be a lot of pan juggling, hot to simmer, simmer to hot, but doing ok. Little Sis produced first stage of a masterclass dessert last night, only requires finishing touches today. I will post a photo if I can.

Pooch’s dreams had come true on beach yesterday, thousands of poor washed up starfish everywhere. He was watched intensely all walk, and banned from a swim. Clocked the nearest Vet’s though.

Drizzle and foul this morning, but strolled down Lane to edge of Club Site, outfits back in in again. I hadn’t realised that West Runton had a Station, so something to think about when planning a Norwich trip, when it’s safer.

Hello to all, hope everyone safe and doing what they want to do, even if it’s restricted. Second breakfast calling, just need to locate map for cottage, and then I can find kitchen............🤣

I do hope that Trump has to use Obama Care. So much justice if he does..........🤣🤣🤣

Its pouring with rain and very dark this morning,  OH is taking up the flooring downstairs so I am currently hiding upstairs and catching up with the posts on CT, it's the first chance I've had this week.

Belated " Happy Birthday " Nellie,  hope you had a  lovely  day. 🎂🎂

Hope all those away enjoy themselves,  and take care all travellers.

Brue, glad you made it home safely,

Bakers2,  saw the photos of Dora, she is just adorable. 🙂

Ttda your cottage sounds lovely,  would love an Aga.

I've had a fairly busy week at work, plenty of deliveries into supermarket distribution centres this week, the supermarket's are stocking up. undecided  panic buying or Christmas??

Had a shopping trip this week for some new shoes, not something I was looking forward too, my shopping is still only the once a week trip for food. I wasn't sure what to expect and some shops seemed to have more Covid precautions than others.  I was even allowed to try shoes on in some, but not others.  Managed to find a pair in the end so all good.

Hoping that we can get away next week, just waiting to see what happens with any more lockdowns.

Well, I can't hear any swearing, so it must be going OK downstairs, will creep down and take a look.

Enjoy your day folks, hope its not raining everywhere.

Its pouring it down here We have decided to postpone our next trip away, no point in just sitting in the rain or even moving when its tipping it down. Luckily we haven't booked anything so no problems there.

We have things we can get on with here so why not.

TDA the 'cottage' sounds lovely, hope you've managed to locate the kitchen by now laughing

OH's moving about up in the attic, not sure I want to know what he's up to laughing

If this weather does persist for a week then I think I will do some paining, I did the front part of the utility room when we were in 'lockdown' might just do the back bit now. Then there is always the front bedroom undecided

Stay safe everyone hope its not going to be as bad as they forecast.

Ha, back from a short walk into West Runton and back. Two of party out for a drive, one watching Giro, me happily about to cook tea for tonight, pooch lurking for tit bits. (had to move him from side of Aga, most dischuffed😂). The camping shop is still there I am glad to see, possibly best stocked camping shop I have ever seen. Awnings are back down at Incleborough. Couple came into camping shop when I was there, had taken awning down due to storm warning, but wanted a canopy with sides to put up to dry off dog🤔 I pondered, but kept schtum. Will check our trees, see if it ends up in garden later😂

TDA. Hope you get a chance to do the stroll up Incleboro Hill and enjoy the views...fair weather permitting. smile (Nice looking kitchen, Goldie's the AGA expert on here, I failed the test on a holiday AGA down in Cornwall....laughing)

OH did the climb today brue. But no views, it’s too wet and cloudy here today.

I’m not struggling with the Aga, but its definitely an acquired taste in terms of cooking. Seems an awful lot of pan shuffling, and moving things around in oven. Requires attention to get it right. Any tips from Goldie or others would be good.😁 On the plus side, it certainly makes for a lovely warm kitchen.

Fireworks going off here again! We had them on the first too - they were much louder.

Wet, is putting it mildly, day here, so 2 wet dogs this morning. Dora makes much fuss when into off for longer with grand dog and she gets taken home by OH 🙁. This morning we felt sorry for her, she's now allowed 2 10 minute lead walks, so we let her off and thought she'd just potter beside Pip 😡 no chance 😱 she went 'crackerdog'. Back on lead as immediately we were able!

I was suffering from cabin fever and it stopped raining so took grand dog off to local estate for a run, in full waterproofs. She had great time squirrel chasing, few in The Fens 🤣, but remembered pond location I'd forgotten, came out Guinness dog 🤬. Into a cleaner pond, but much reduced in depth because of previous  hot dry weather, but came out slightly cleaner. Peace again then off she went and rolled, I'd forgotten her delight in this, plenty of that in The Fens! So straight in the shower once home. Had to remove my jacket as far too warm 15c. OH took charge of shower, as was just removing boots when rain started again, so donned boots again and went out with Dora. Came back still dry - result! Now heavy fine rain again.

Dora is having a ball with her squeaky toys they do get to you, but you should she the grand dog's face, queen Victoria eat your heart out! You realise the difference in age, grand dog is 8 years now and very sedate, unless squirrels or fox/deer poo around.

Takethedogalong I grew up with Rayburn, very similar to Aga, cooking and you watch like a hawk - especially if it's solid fuel 😱😱. Great training for family life, I could speed up or slow down the cooking process dependent on requirements with impromptu arrangements 🤣🤣🤣

Hope others have had such entertaining days.......

Cley nature reserve pop up cafe sounds good. We visited the reserve last October (a year ago 😮) gosh it doesn’t seem like a year.
I’ve cooked Mary Berry’s bolognese bake for tea. Very nice and plenty to go in the freezer for the next caravan trip.
It’s been a very wet day here. We went to Go Outdoors this morning to buy OH some new walking boots. Kept our distance, wearing masks. Hoped the rain would put people off shopping. Managed to find suitable boots for walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way and possibly the Three Peaks if COVID allows.

Only if you think tidying up airing cupboard and deep cleaning the bathroom entertaining laughing

Its not stopped raining all day, the lights have been on for the best part of the day.

Had a 2 hour phone call with friend, we worked together and still keep in touch. Its usually every month but we never fail to talk for 2 hourslaughing

OH been sorting paperwork for filing.

I had a long phone call too with a friend in quarantine after a visit to her native country, she's going back soon if they allow Brits in... a £14 flight and only 20 on the plane. At which point I suggested the risk of no return plane if this goes on much longer, I don't know how flying can be sustained. Surprising what some are doing whilst the rest of us stay at home!

Very similar weather here, with rain almost all day. Fortunately there's been no wind so we've managed a couple of walks through the woods with our brollies so not got too wet. Hope that it will be a bit better tomorrow.
Another caravan arrived this afternoon so there are 4 units on site now, 2 caravans, 1 M/H and a campervan.

I'm impressed with the kitchen, tda, you seem to be managing admirably. We had an Aga at home when I was a youth, and mum was a dab hand cooking on it I remember. Although it was a long time ago I can still see my father cursing when it went out!😯

Brue. I do hope flying can be sustained otherwise we wont be able to see our son and family in NI. The only alternative is a very long drive to the west coast of Scotland to catch the ferry which is beyond us these days.

One of our grandsons will be 13 on Tuesday so our daughter has compiled a rota so we can all go over to see him. Our slot was this afternoon. We had a great afternoon with them all - 4 of them and 2 of us so keeping to the rule of 6. So good to see them all. We discussed how on earth we are going to manage Christmas keeping to the rule of 6. No decision reached ☹.

So glad your cottage is a success TDA. The kitchen looks wonderful. We had a Rayburn when I was a child. I seem to remember my Mum cooking a lot of casseroles, slow roasts, fruit cakes and fruit crumbles.

Unremitting rain for most of the day although we seem to have a brief respite for the moment.

Well, from a couple of days ago,  WN, I got very busy this morning. Niece, nephew and I had a long, serious, coffee-free, discussion about Solicitors, Wills, Executors etc and came to a decision ! Left 'em happy with that then home for light lunch and down to surgery for Flu' jab. dammit parked right next to Niece & Nephew surprised.

Still got into Surgery, well sanitized, directed to next available doorway, self-identified, had a technical discussion with Jab giving Sister about the text message I had yesterday.  That seriously confused both Sister and Records Clerk, jab given,{ but Sister had to tell me it was all done 'cos I never felt a thing, honest smile } so I departed with a big daft grin & Best wishes for Christmas. All went well 'cos I was much closer to the exit door than they were !!

Hope your days have been as productive & cheerful as yours truly

so Stay Safe, Keep Giggling  and enjoy yourselves,

    Brian  kiss

Sorry Millie, my comments sounded a bit down but the native country I mentioned is a holiday island for many, dependent on tourism, empty hotels now etc. Flights have already been cut so I genuinely think my friend could be affected. I feel places like NI are in a different position.

It was good to hear you could see your grandson for his birthday! We've wondered about Christmas too, I booked a Christmas delivery slot whilst away...living in hope or a feast on our own?! wink

AGA  - ours is 71 years old. I’ve used it exclusively since we moved into the farmhouse in 1996 when my father in law died. It’s solid fuel and needs filling and riddling twice a day, and ash removed once a day. So it creates a lot of dust - my excuse for the state of the house.

Its in what we call the Kitchen, but it’s the only kitchen equipment in there (it’s the main room where we live - sitting room/dining room/office) - the rest of kitchen stuff is in the Pantry - another enormous room with sink/fridge/two freezers/freestanding pine cupboards and a 8’ x 4’ slate table. So cooking anything involves walking and carrying.

I grumble, but wouldn’t change it. It’s maintained by my husband and brute force.

Cooking is a doddle - as long as I use a timer (burning smells go up the chimney). I tend to cook a lot in advance and put in the bottom oven to keep warm. The bottom oven is brilliant for big roasts and Christmas turkeys. And overnight porridge.

Brue you might be interested in these other photos. I did some hunting and found another then and now between the photo I took on Friday and the past picture. Note the building bottom left in the old photo, and look at the windows at the end, and match it with the same building in the middle left today.

Also found this photo that was taken by the Evening Chronicle with the same people in both, really fascinating.

Been baking this morning,  cheese and marmite sausage rolls for Trevor, and some cheese & red onion  Foccacia for me, both cooking at the moment so house is smelling rather nice. smile
