What are you all up to

Lovely day here in D&G, but a cool breeze at times. It did look much cloudier over to the south east. A clear sky last night resulted in a little ground frost this morning. After OH did the washing we headed down to Powfoot and walked along the beach to look at what remains of the nitrocellulose factory. No much remains but the number of bricks bearing their place of manufacture was interesting, ranging from Stourbridge and Accrington to Edininburgh and Sanquhar. Had a further walk along the shore intercooler direction before visiting Tesco and Aldi, where there appeared no shortage of essential items.

Must be big toilet rolls if you measure them in kilometres. Mine are measured in sheets.

Beautiful day again here lovely sunshine and totally blue skies. First frost for us this morning, grass is all white.
Last bits of things to go in the MH for our trip to Oban, fridge to go on soon though probably not need long to chill given the temps just now
Went for a walk down to the mill yesterday afternoon, to pick blackberry's, picked about 3lbs. Part of the mill has now been converted to apartments with a wonderful view along the river Tay. Other buildings have been converted to a museum and one of the buildings is now the Men's Shed. The grounds are being worked on by volunteers, they are planting an orchard and have recently installed a couple of bee hives, they've had there first lot of honey already. The whole area is now becoming a nice place for a walk, it used to be very rundown and bordering on dangerous in places.
Lazy morning do far but now go and do things.

TG, I recall learning about the “Carse of Gowrie” at school. Jam central😁
Sun has just come out here. Still blustery and cool but thankfully no frost. I might just pop one or two treasures in greenhouse while we are away, just in case.
MH cleaning and prep day for me. Then some clothes packing. Forecast for where we are heading has improved from what it was, but what to take is still up in the air.

😂 Where’s your next stop brue?

Thanks brue, I did wonder when you said East 😀
TDA, it's getting more like southern Spain these days with the amount of plastic polytunnels, practically all year growing now.
Managed to squeeze in an hour of pampering this morning while OH busy in shed☺️
Back to work now.

I watched a documentary about the Spanish fruit and veg growing not so long ago. Shocking is the word that came to mind, a real eye opener.

We've stayed at a campsite in Almeira and were horrified at the amount of plastic floating around from the poly tunnels. When the winds rip them apart the locals don't seem bothered to clear up.
Busy day today. Cleaned the car and the caravan, edged and mowed the 3 lawns. We had them scarified whilst away and they were looking rather sorry for themselves but seem to be picking up now.
Having terrible trouble keeping the Beech Mast out of just about everything. It's like snow at the moment.
Hope those away have safe journeys. Will drop Ttda a line about a couple of places that might be of interest to her

Good to read folks have energy for jobs 😉. Change in the weather has made me hibernate! Might not be as bad if we were away 🤣
We went from summer on Tuesday to winter on Thursday with really strong winds and heavy rain. Water butt's overflowing so enough now thanks! Lots of debris flying around.
Dora has finally had her groom today and what a difference it has made. She smells wonderful and has quite a bouffant 😱 which should be calmer tomorrow 😱 Missing the highland cow look already, only just collected her. But I expect brushing will be easier! Photos below. Managed it before her lady op tomorrow too.
Jealous of, but very happy for, those we've caught up with family 👪 but fingers crossed for no new measures before Friday when we collect grand dog on M25/A12 handover, whilst son and DIL have his last years birthday wine tasting vineyard visit present then Monday week we have quality time with them and I provide lunch- there's always a catch 🤣. But I don't mind. I've got my knitting needles out and 1st size cardigan half done, they are to be parents about next Easter 😃
Stay safe and cosy folks

Love those pictures of Dora, Bakers - hasn't she grown! 🐕
We've had a fabulous day's walking over Dunkery Beacon with 360° views from the summit over the Bristol Channel and down towards the Devon Hills. (But how is it I can never get my human and both dogs to look in the same direction at the same time?
)
Bright and sunny again, but with a brisk wind but pleasantly warm in the sheltered spots.

Dunkery is one of my favourite spots Moulesy, we went straight there at the end of lockdown. But you had better weather!
B2, a very smart dog. Fingers crossed for the family meeting and lovely news about the Spring arrival. 🐥

Bakers2. What exciting news!! You must be so delighted. Nothing like a new baby in the family to lift the spirits. Congratulations to everyone. Lovely photos of Dora. Gosh hasnt she grown!
Great photos moulesy. At least you managed to get one of the party to look at the camera 😅
Still a very cold wind here today but at least no rain thank goodness. We have had enough thank you. I agree with you Bakers2. My body has gone into hibernation 😳

We have had quite nice weather recently, some days were actually too hot, just trying to remember what we have been doing.......nothing memorable obviously!
Mainly been confined to DD's garage working on the loft flooring as she has been on holiday this week. It was also a school holiday weekend here, so they took Callum to the safari park on Thursday, however apparently the highlight of his day was the big tractor he could sit on! He did also like the meercats.
Saturday we went out to look at bathroom stuff, so are now slightly nearer making a decision on what to buy for the bathroom revamp. Also managed to finish treating the balcony rails, and today did some woodstain on the front upstairs windows. Just the downstairs ones to check before winter.
OH is now making a list of everything for the bathroom, and trying to involve me in the decision making, which I think is above my pay grade.
Great news re the prospective new arrival B2!

Happiness is a video call from the family in NI this evening. 😀 Obviously not as good as being there but so good to see them all.
KjNN that sounds like a grand day out for Callum. When we took our NI grandchildren to see Santa at a local children's farm when they came over for Christmas some years ago our grandson was about your Callum's age and Santa was no where near as exciting as the tractor ride for him!!

We could do with you down here K, still no luck with a plumber for our shower.
We did Dunkery Beacon last time we were stopping on Exmoor, lovely views. Porlock Weir is a pretty and interesting place, although might be busy. Cleeve Abbey is an interesting visit as well, if open. Some great medieval floor tiles, I love the history there.
Dora the pup looks lovely B. She really rocks a good highland cow look though, a little sweetie🐾
Mum had a fall today, in house. Bit worrying, but she seems fine after a bit of a rest. I have ordered a BP monitor, could be low blood pressure. Will check her out tomorrow and get Docs on board if required.🤞

TDA I hope your Mum will be OK.

Hope your mum is ok, tda, and find for your trip to Norfolk. Grand news, B2, fingers crossed that meet up goes well too. Dora looks a bit different after her clip. Lovely photos M. It's been a while since we were last up there, so just try and get back soon, perhaps next year. Hope the weather is kind for you in the Lakes, brue, where are you staying? You've certainly been busy the day, WN. Time for a rest and a beer or two this evening? Hope all those away are having a good time, and those over in the East have not suffered over much.
Another fine sunny day with clear skies all morning, after a cold night with frost on the car when we got up, although it did cloud up a little after lunch. Walked from Hoddom Bridge today on part of the Annandale way. Not very many about thankfully, and the caravan site at Hoddom Castle was less than half full. Our last night in D&G before we head up to Islabank CL tomorrow.

We are just watching Mens Road Race Nellie, on catch up, fabulous race, stunning course around Imola. Pleased for the winner as well😉

We will be getting people in to do most of the bathroom revamp as it will involve stripping out everything, including the plasterboard on the walls.
The walls are fully tiled where there are no storage cupboards, and, as I did all the tiling myself, I know they are very well stuck on, so the PB will be ruined.
It needs to be replaced anyway as it is not the waterproof stuff that is used these days. We will empty the cupboards (good clear out needed anyway!) and remove them for safety as they will be refitted later, as will the big mirror I made to fit the space above the basin, the light fittings, extractor fan, radiator and fan heater. But we will be getting a new, larger, electric towel warmer.
The jury is still out on the future of the creamy beige mosaic tiled countertop, OH is not convinced it will look right with white wall tiles and a white inset basin, so is considering solid Iroko instead, which would be a nice contrast, an oily timber which will survive steam and water splashes.
The big bath will be replaced with a 1200x900 mm shower tray and enclosure, with a new shower valve etc, and there will be a new back to wall toilet with concealed cistern, similar to the one we have at present.
We are hoping that the builders who will do most of the work will agree to do the demolition and rebuilding of the walls, install the toilet and the shower tray, tile that end of the room, fit the shower enclosure, then leave me to refit the cupboards etc, and install the countertop and inset basin. Then I would finish the tiling and lay the flooring.
I quite enjoy tiling (though not the grouting) and am a bit of a perfectionist, but I have seen some tiling their man has done at our son's house, which looked good, so happy to let him do the shower area as that will be a fair expanse of tiles.

Nice news for you B2 congrats from us
We arrived home today after a great 4 night break in the borders. We stayed at Low Moor Head CL just north of Carlisle highly recommend it to anyone in the area easy to get to spacious fully serviced pitches and lovely views all at a reasonable price. Easy two hour tow home today weather nice so got the car and caravan washed. We are due away again middle of October for 11 nights in Chester hoping it goes ahead but in the current climate who knows.
hope everyone else had a nice weekend

Thank you for all your congratulations. It is nice to have some nice news!
Dora has certainly grown and is a delight. We both noticed her leg length had extended last week. Not sure how long the cared for look with last 🤣. Moulesy lyour dogs look amazing, as usual, do you have the groomed? They must take a good deal of brushing. Beautiful photos.
Milliehull I share your joy on electronic 'visits'. At least you're all in the same time zone. My last catch up with NZ was whilst walking Dora on Tuesday, tech is great. Youngest granddaughter, 4 years, came through and said hi - grandma why is your sky blue? I'm rudey nudey from my shower and putting on my pj's and our sky is black. Its not an easy concept at any age. Back to mum who'll explain, again, with the globe and a torch 🤣🤣
Takethedogalong I hope your mum is OK. Good idea to get a blood pressure machine, I hope you have success if you need to get the GP involved - not easy from the anecdotes I have heard since lockdown?
KjNelln wow lots of work and you've not finished your current project. Good on you. There are those on here, nelliethehooker, wherenext, tammygirl and others seem to have endless energy and capacity - I'm 'well jell' and often feel.tired just reading about what's accomplished in the time!!
Nelliethehooker and others are proving that touring is still possible despite the current situation and tales of fully booked sites needing long lead in times..again well done and enjoy the trips.
Forecast is for a warmer day today, I sincerely hope so! That 14 degree drop in temperature wasn't nice! No chance to acclimatise your body!

Not warm over here in Cheshire, B2, In fact I've got some touching up to do on my window sill so I will be putting the old cow gown on over my usual tops today 'cos I'm making errors on here due to c c cold fingersis. Already got the little paint warmer out to dry off the overnight condensation ( and carefully warm my paws
) before I start the jobs
# # so off I go into the bright 'conker' paint # #
Back to annoy you all after the jobs & lunch

Phew!! Sounds fun KjellNN? We had our shower room done sounding similar to yours a few years ago and very pleased so far. As you say all the plasterboard came off and our plumber/builder said it was normal practice these days to do that anyway. We had our countertop replaced with a black ‘speckle’ marble which looks lovely against the white. Good luck with it all.
