Dentist first thing for a check up, new dentist now taken on Denplan as old one about to retire. Nice youngish chap, very thorough even did x rays. Might just stay with them a bit longer now to see how he works out.

Went to see OH's SIL after dentist, as of Friday we won't be able to visit indoors.

Booked for a 3 night stay at North Ledaig, haven't been there for a few years so due a visit. The new cycle route is now complete all off road so going to give it a go, doubt we will do the whole length of it as its 26 miles long. Used to be the old railway line from Connel to Ballachulish.

Sorting out the MH as we are going to take that on this trip only 3 days,  I have an appointment late on Thursday back in Perth. Then we are planning to head south for around 3 weeks with the caravan again. Fingers crossed the little ginger one doesn't put a spanner in the works on that one.

Covid numbers today are the highest we've had 486 the previous high was back in April at 430. I know we are testing more so finding more but its not good. One of the Uni's in Dundee has 1 proven case so 400 students have to isolate until they can get tested and contacts traced. At least the tracing up here seems to be working (or so they tell us)

Weather today is nice enough to be outside, weak sun but its not wet or windy so I'll take that any day.

Bit of snipping work to be done in the garden so might go and do an hour of that now.

    Stay safe and be good.

Recorded as " Leighton Buzzard " by geologists, JVB, & four to date, but one most certainly unlikely to ripple the goldfish's water  wink

Well after last weeks abandoned trip we have finally got away. Got the car back yesterday and the problem seems to be fixed so fingers crossed. Decided not to rebook Troutbeck as it has got very expensive especially for the time of year. We are instead on a lovey little CL in the borders first impressions are excellent booked here until Sunday then home was only a 2 hour drive from home this afternoon. Set the Cadac up and just as we were about to put it on it started pouring so burgers back in fridge and we ended up going to the local chippy just finished and it was an excellent meal. Not sure what the plan is tomorrow it’s showing rain so will just see how we feel in the morning.

Millie,  Sorry to read you have had to cancel your trip to NI, it is so hard not being able to see family,  but at least you managed a nice long chat. I have a feeling it won't be long before we are all told not to mix with any other households. cry

The weather has turned Autumnal today much cooler and some rain, it must be almost 3 weeks since we've had any rain,  had to get my waterproof  jacket out.

Had a visit from eldest son yesterday, his car was due an mot and the brakes needed  doing,  and Dad doesn't charge BMW garage prices to do the job! laughing

Glad you have now got away Francis, hope the weather improves.

Our dog (Rosa) hates water, which makes for an interesting "bath time" but have just saved the problem this time, as we were out for our evening walk ,across the fields when we have had monsoon type rain and we are both now soaked through, even my rain coat could not cope and is now soaked through, as are my socks as it ran down my legs into the wellies, good job it is still quite warm and is not yet time to put the shorts away surprised

    This came through to OH..

Egypt has decided to have a covid calming day. They asked everyone to "toot" their car horns in support for each other.

The project has been named as "toot'ncalm'em."

As you can see the rain has gone to me head...embarassed

We are on the nice CL at Jervaulx Abbey for a couple of nights. smile

Lovely CL at Jervaulx😁 if it’s open, the cafe is very nice. We love the Abbey ruins there as well, not as stark as NT/EH ruins, there’s lots of lovely wildflowers and shrubs. Not sure if you have heard of it brue, but the Marmion Tower isn’t far away, nice church next door as well.

TDA. The cafe is open but they are waiting to hear whether they can continue with their non table service set up. Hope they can, limited food selection but I bought some good cakes today! smile

Been a damp day here most of day. Plenty of indoor tasks getting done though. I painted the feet on our bath tub, looking good now. Thrifty gene to the fore......decided to dye some rather nice towels/bath mat to tone better with new bathroom decor......originally a sand colour, now a lovely plum colour😁

OH had the short straw. He spent all afternoon down our cellars, clearing out all sorts of stuff (mostly his, but we had forgotten about two ancient gas fires). We have a surveyor coming out tomorrow to advise us on new boiler, somewhat astonishingly we appear to be able to access some sort of government funding, that isn’t reliant upon being in receipt of any benefit payments. A neighbour didn’t have to pay a penny, so fingers crossed🤞Possibly linked to age of property, and age of existing boiler, sounding good at the moment though.

Yes, the cakes are lovely. I think they do weddings, the full Monty, it’s a very nice venue, and they have a rally field as well. It was part of a lovely Dales tour we did around 18 months ago, covered in daffodils on our visit. Little did we know, it was our very last tour with Millie our much missed Golden Lab.😢

    Brian

In a way I am fortunate in that a certain person does not think my ironing is up to muster!!! I did my best for a couple of months after her bypass operation but it clearly spurred on her recovery as she quickly took the job backsmile Apparently I am considered competent in dish washing (dishwasher loading and unloading) and hoovering. I am also useful for reaching things off high shelves!

We are only 15 miles north of Leighton Buzzard and we have heard none of their earthquakes.

Apparently McDonald's and Pret can continue without table service according to the Beeb. They don't have alcohol licence. Let's hope its the same rule for all sealed

    Sounds wonderful.

We've just had a really heavy shower of rain 😱

Saw a notice today from the LA  to say that hairdressers/barbers, beauticians etc have to close as they cannot work if the customer can't wear a face covering. Its causing a big backlash from the businesses as this was not mentioned in the broadcast yesterday. Has there been any mention of this in England?

Its absolutely teaming with rain here. I would imagine our water butts are now full again but it is too dark to go and check.😁

We love Jervaux Abbey. It is so pretty with all the wild flowers. I seem to remember that there is a very good ice cream place near there?

OH bought a new phone today. He doesnt use the internet and only uses it to make and receive calls but still seems to find them difficult to use 🙄. I just hope he can use this one OK. It brought it home to me when he was taken to A&E last month that he really needs a phone he can use easily. While trying to set up his phone contacts he has already rung youngest son by mistake. It has been an 'interesting' day 😁

Yes, it’s at Brymor Farm not far from Site. We prefer ice cream parlour in Helmsley, Ryeburn, near big car park. Very nice cafe. Yorkshire has some very nice ice cream makers.

Hope your OH gets to grip with the phone Millie. I think you can still get a basic phone, my SIL had one for a while. Might be Douro brand, not sure🤔

    It’s Doro, not Duoro. 😁

Sounds reasonable to me, but not heard anything here. I have had my hair cut twice now. I wear a mask, ease off ear piece one at a time as cutting in ear area. Hairdresser wears a mask all the time, sometimes a visor as well. I wouldn’t be going if he didn’t wear a mask. He wouldn’t want to have me in shop without a mask. He has to stay safe as well as me.

Facial work is more difficult, some things require very close up work, for example eyelash extensions, where technician is literally leant over client. A bit of nail painting behind a screen with everything sanitised between customers might be ok🤷‍♀️

TDA yes OH's phone is a Doro. He is getting to grips with it. Just need to work out how to increase the volume of the ring tone. Might look it up online.

Our hairdresser comes to our house. She always wears a mask.

Wonderful photo Rocky. No sunrise to be seen here as it is very grey and murky.

We had a lovely quiet walk around Jervaulx Abbey this morning, rain showers ignored! The CL is very pleasant, we are looking out over the rally field on one side and parkland on the other. No rally at the moment. It wouldn't put me off, it's nicely separated and laid out. The tearooms are closed till further notice so no facilities available for other visitors. If we were here longer we'd do the walk along the Ure. There's also a bus stop, Darlington to Ripon and many places in between!

"We" (Well,  the 50% of the party that do the job) are just packing ready for our week on Exmoor. smile

Weather looks promising at least for the first few days - walks all planned out (sorry to the "off the cuffers") - Tarr Steps to Withypool, Dunkery Beacon, a couple of stretches of the Coleridge Way, coast path at Minehead  (good excuse for a fish & chips supper wink) and, just maybe a visit to Winsford to see if Stanley (father of Boris) is extending any hospitality to visitors at his local! laughing

Might just wander past the caravan site at Halse Farm to reminisce on days gone by! 👍

Spoke to our next door neighbour this afternoon, she works from home doing nails, waxing and eyebrows. It would appear she is ok to work from home as long as the clients use a different entrance/exit to the family. The home studio is set up at the back of the house off the kitchen so no issues for her. Had she had been a mobile service she wouldn't have been able to work. It would appear hairdresser's are ok as they stand behind you but facials or beard trims are not allowed.

Trip out this morning to collect my car, it' been in getting a warranty job done, all fixed now and back home ☺️

Bit more sorting out stuff to go in the MH, plenty of time as we don't go until Monday. Trying to get OH organised with his bits and bobs he takes away. Bought some plastic containers with lids and suggested he has one each for the MH and caravan then he doesn't need to keep 'finding' things😂

Not a bad day weather wise sunny but not as warm as previous day's.

    Been a good day today. Had a lazy morning then took a drive down to Keswick managed to avoid most of the rain. Had a nice meal in one of our favourite pubs The Oddfellows in the Main Street looks like they are doing a good job under the new restrictions good quick service and there were a lot of people in having meals. Stopped off at Sainsbury’s on our way back to the van to get a few essentials. Back at the van now and it’s pouring now forecast saying it’s to rain all night :;

We're at  the Carlton Sport and Social site at Saxmundum in the pouring rain. Tomorrow we're going just a few miles down the road to Aldeburgh to be by the sea. Forecast is 65 mph winds and heavy rain! The joys of camping ...
