Does it take long to walk to Kendal TG, might suit us another time if it's not too far. Glad to hear your holiday has gone well.

Thanks brue, It's 1.5 mls from the site along the river to Morrisons, then probably another mile into town. The walk along the river is pleasant and not hard, couple of gates and stiles.

B2, it's our second visit and we had "done" Maldon last time. Walked the canal in both directions but Paper Mill tearoom wins it. wink Walked up to Boreham across the fields and caught the bus into Chelmsford for OH's retail fix on one day with a pleasant lunch in town. Nice walk along the river to the park too.

Back home after a 5 day break at Mill House CP followed by four nights on a non EHU grass pitch at C&CC's St Neots site next to the river Ouse. Weather has been exceptional and it was almost like being on a continental site. Interesting museum in the town accessible by a walk along the river. Catch up with jobs and appointments now for a couple of weeks before another trip before the clocks go back and hopefully C19 doesn't screw it all up.

Good to hear that you've arrived ok, with excellent timing too, TG. You've definitely picked the nice of the club sites, even if you do have to drive through part of Kendal, at least, if coming from the south. The site we're staying on from tomorrow is just found the corner from Morrisons. It's a newish non-facilities site, but with H/S and EHU, which we've not visited before, but reviews look good. I think that it would suit you, brue, in that respect, and is closed to the town.

Hope that those planning to meet up relations are able to do so.

Francis, sorry to hear that the car's not well again, hope that you get it fixed and can get away for a few days at least.

Another interesting day by the sounds of it, WN. There are certainly lots of fascinating places to visit in that area.

Good to hear your news, B2. Dora had certainly grown since the last photo I saw of her.

M, both you and Mrs M are certainly keeping busy, even if you can't do all of your hobbies. Glad that you were able to meet up with your father on his birthday, and that it sounds as if he is doing well.

Thanks for the info Nellie, sounds like it might suit us. smile

Just had a CL confirmation so can now rearrange our trip north with less time in the NE but sadly less time with the family too.

    Thanks for the info Nellie!

Looks like a very conveniently situated site, good price, and fully serviced, now on our list for next year.

We had booked the CAMC site for a couple of nights as a stopover on our now cancelled trip, to see if it had improved since 20 years back, does not sound like it has.  The last 3 times in the area we used the CCC site, which is on the same road as this new site.

Been a lovely day here, we took Callum to the park this afternoon.  He had a great time running around, we were worn out following him!

I like the CAMC site, don't mind the woods and river and possibly because I like the nearby Sizergh Farm shop and cafe...and will also try their little van site another time..too much choice! wink

another glorious morning here - long may they continue!

New refinement I see the capital letter omitted from first paragraph. Might be my equipment but I suspect not.

    Lovely walk with Dora.

Where next - snoozing! Just resting my eyes............. Still note there is a chair for me and I did enjoy sometime in it!

No cleaner yesterday, she poorly, so must run the vac over as we have folk coming this afternoon been long before the lockdown since we caught up. Its a guarantee to ensure we can sit in the garden 🤣.

Enjoy your day folks however you spend it. Don't forget to post your activities and photos.

We like the site too but then I’m a shade lover. Had a look at the small site at Sizergh Barn last month. Bit of noise from the dual carriageway and it looked cramped. It’s in the field that’s a bit lower than the barn car park so overlooked. Don’t think we will book it.

Another bright sunny day, but a definite nip in the air first thing.

We have been waiting for a run of fine weather to get our 3rd (and last) silage cut. All safely carted in and sheeted up. Even after all these years as chief caterer I get it wrong. I hear the words “silage” and start baking and buying loads of stuff for lunchboxes. And then it’s all over in the blink of an eye, and I still have a fridge full of food. But it does make subsequent meals easier. We’re still using up the crisps I bought last summer. I think they were OK. No one complained. Maybe they dare not.

I hope the weather keeps good for those staying near Kendal, The new site on Appleby Road looks a bit bleak. But I expect Nellie will be off walking most of the day. As is mentioned it’s near Morrison’s, but there’s also Aldi and Sainsbury’s nearby. Beware the busy road at school times.

This is our first time on the C&CC site having always stayed on the CAMC site in the past. Much prefer this site as you can see the countryside and the skylaughing not so up and down (hilly) either.

Will look at the new one when we go to Morrisons.

Another lovely sunny day here, people on holiday must have had a great time during the past week although I think the Dorest coast has been a bit misty.

Woken early by hedge cutting, they've certainly got a shift on after the maize went yesterday.

Thanks for the site tips...will let someone else sample them first!

Packing van, tidying up, looking after visiting dog...trip to Clarks Village for our Cumbrian visitor, hope she finds some shoes! (Daughter's partner's Mum... she has been v.ill and the break has done her good.)

Got out the old Farmhouse Kitchen (Yorks TV) recipe book  and waiting for a date and walnut loaf to cook, kitchen smells ok so hope it tastes the same?! wink

Another day spent forcing enjoyment upon ourselves in the windless, sunny day. Oh the drudge of it all.

After yesterday's exertions we decided to take it a bit easier today so after managing to book a time slot on Historic Scotland website we went to Tantallon Castle, the other side of North Berwick. Despite arriving at 10.15 for our 10 - 11 slot we were the only ones there for the first 15 minutes so enjoyed having the place to ourselves. We only saw about half a dozen other visitors. Have to take my hat off to the staff. Hand sanitisers everywhere, a lot of the foot pump activated. One way system in force.

Mrs WN managed to talk me into sitting still for 30 minutes while she had a drawing session of it.

Afternoon spent having a leisurely stroll from the John Muir Country Park near Dunbar. Back for mid afternoon coffee

Photos of parts of castle and Bass Rock.

TG, what is the sound from the M42 like on the C&CC site as it's only about 300m from the motorway? Is it intrusive?

We love Tantallon castle, so romantic (even for me) and the views are outstanding. When in thee places I often wonder what life must have been like living there? I suppose the higher your 'rank' the better the life?

    Great photos.

One of those great unexpected days today. The sort where you plan a ride but somethings happenes to make the day fantastic. Totally unexpected was the fog or mist (?) and  my first glimpse of things to come was the fog covering the Team valley just a mile from home. As I got closer to Newcastle it got really dense making familiar places magical.

Sitting at the Cycle Hub (highly recommended btw) having breakfast on the quayside watching it suddenly lifting was just amazing. Went along the Tyne and ended up at along the coast.

    Thank you kind sir.

History was my favourite subject at school and my History teacher was really annoyed that I didn't go to university but.... well that's another story. I'm like you, putting myself back in time or trying to, to imagine conditions at the time.

Not too shabby photos yourself. Sounds like a grand day.

CY, during the day it's a constant hum, it gets much quieter around midnight.

I'm very noise sensitive especially at night time but it didn't bother me at all.

A lot depends where you are pitched, if you can get in the area behind the reception (to the left as you come in the site) I think it's probably the quietest.

The trees in leaf help, we didn't find it a problem unlike Tredegar or Strathclyde.

Lots of good walking and cycling in the area.

Another lovely day here at Kendal, really chilly overnight, the heating came on in the caravan  it's only set at 14c. Got warmer by mid morning as we were going out.

Took a drive to Windermere, boy was it busy. No where to park of course as it was mobbed. Didn't try to hard to find anywhere as didn't fancy the crowds. So we drove over to Grange, had lunch and a lovely walk in the warm sunshine. A nice drive back to Kendal then a bit of food shopping to save me doing it when we get home.

Drove past NTH's site, the site looks ok, a bit bare just now . Looks like there is a rally or THS on the field next door.surprised

If you choose to go I would avoid the weekend as it appears that the site is full most weekends, as it is tonight. There's also the prospect of there being a rally in the adjoining fields, as there has been for the last couple of weeks here, which we found out when we arrived!!😟

Apart from that the site is fine, good entrance, security gate, large H/S and serviced pitches for £15 pn.

Got a call from the garage earlier to say they know what the problem is and the car should be back with us on Monday so think we will head off somewhere next week for a few nights. Don’t think we will bother with Troutbeck as originally planned as it has got got very expensive may try and get on to a CL. Not sure what we will do with the Volvo it’s been a great car but that’s a lot of money that’s been spent on it Over the past few months and it’s coming up on 11 years old so may be time to look at changing it before we need to spend more in it. Fancy getting a 4x4 again quite like the look of there late model Freelanders will keep an eye open in no rush to change but if we got the right deal then something to consider

Had a couple of walks from the site, the second landlady the C&CC site and onto Helme Lane, back along the A6 to have a look in at LR garage. Impressed by the looks of the new Defender!

TG, I think I spotted your van as we walked past. I guess the new site would look better if there weren't 60 vans in the next field, and as Goldie says avoid arriving when school is coming out as the road was busy then, but quiet at other times.

NTH, what time was that, were we at the van? shame we missed you.

Not sure if it we saw you arriving in Kendal just after midday when we were leaving. We had just driven past your site on our way into town.

We saw the fields next to your site they looked to be busy.

As the site is new still, does it look like they are going to do some tree and shrub plantings to help with the look of it. The layout looked good as did the entrance and barrier.

Francis. That is why we changed the Nissan X trail recently. It was 12 years old and beginning to cost money. OH very pleased with the Mitsubishi Outlander. Performed very well when towing last week. Best of luck. Hope you get away next week

Morning folks,  an email from Millie this week reminded me that I haven't checked in for a while. I have to admit that I gave up a few weeks ago as I just got so many server errors surprised it was impossible!  I just didn't have the patience. embarassed Apologies,  I must have missed loads of news.

Have been keeping fairly busy had a couple of weekends away in the van and then a lovely week in Suffolk at a fabulous CL, been back a week now, think I have caught up at work.laughing

Our youngest son is still in Lockdown in Manchester, they are not supposed to meet up with anyone outside there household, so have not met up. Eldest son has reserved a new build houses in MK should be moving next year, fingers crossed.

Our caravan is now on its 3rd set of brakes, second set only lasted a couple of thousand miles before completely disintigrating and were dangerous.  Just hoping this set last a bit longer. Had more luck with the car, freelander passed its mot which as its now 13 years old and done well over 100K isn't bad.

No plans as yet for today, a bit of a lazy day possibly.

Hope all those away and at home are enjoying the sunshine, will try and keep up more often. Must post the photo of the Adder we saw at Walberswick, we kept the dog on a very short lead afterwards .
