Schools and Uni’s are going to be a nightmare. Couple it in with children going home to vulnerable parents/carers, some families not being careful, and you have the perfect storm brewing..... ☹️ Tragedy for youngsters. I would not want to be a teacher at the moment.

Metheven. I was slightly worried it might explode if you left it to warm up. Choose a new phone and enjoy it! 🚽

As for schools...our daughter who teaches all the age ranges up to A level in her secondary school was supplied with a bottle of Flash Spray and a floppy visor! She has to clean all the tables and seating between each class and has nowhere to go, limit of six in the staff room, so no proper breaks for anyone.

Is there a suitable advert for 30 students, a teacher and a bottle of Flash?!!

She can at least open all the windows so I hope the weather stays warm.

She teaches art and design so everything else, paintbrushes, etc have to be continually disinfected.

We were hopefully going to see our grandchildren in the next week or two.  Our son has now asked that we postpone to see how things develop.  Both the children (11 and 14) have a bad, flu’y cold, not unusual on schools going back.  He feels as the children are mixing much more now there is more chance of problems for us.  Our grandsons school has already closed for one day, awaiting a test result, he was off unwell anyway.  Feel so sorry for teachers having to cope with all this and try to teach.  Fingers crossed your SIL school, and many others, can cope and remain open.  Good luck and keep safe to all teachers.

Heddlo. We're in a similar position to you for our planned visit to see our family, their area has seen a rise in cases. We are hoping we can see them but know we might be disappointed.

Last day here, not so great weather wise this afternoon. The clouds have gathered and now it's totally overcast. Can't complain as we've had 6 great days here and would certainly come again.

Off up to Kendal tomorrow morning, guess it won't be shorts and T shirts there.

Had a call yesterday to say that the MH is ready for collection when we get back. The solar panel has been moved to the front of the van roof, the satellite dish is now fitted where the SP was in the middle of the roof. Why do manufacturers not think about these thingsyell

Looking at being home for a week then taking off in the MH for a few weeks. Here's hoping there isn't a nationwide lockdown. We have been on 12 different sites so far and felt perfectly safe on all of them. Everyone we have chatted to has said the same, well done to both the clubs and CL owners for all the hard work they have put in. The sites have all been full, its amazing how many folk are happy to come away even when lots of places are closed. Lots of folk walking and cycling, some just enjoying the late sun.

Commiserations for all suffering the vagaries of the latest C19 situation.  It must be very worrying for you all after going thro' Lockdown & hoping to come out the other side in a better state but, sadly, failing thro' no fault of your own.frown

As for the worries of a further Lockdown, well, Brian's terrified yell

Went to opticians this morning to find double doors open but a young lady and table smack in the centre. New arrivals Q on the left please !! When she has dealt with us ~ Appointments in 10 mins allowed in but others must wait outside till a free time slot is available. Found my way thro' a slightly rearranged store, booked in & got eyes tested frown. Left eye, my family weakness, skyving but  Right eye working well enough for two. So a new scrip issued & I was left to the tender mercies of the store-front Staff. Well they have the ability to sort out which frames, lenses etc I want AND of course they have the TILL !!  Had to explain that just as I left home postie delivered the letter advising me to book Retinopathy Tests. Sadly I could have had it today but as I was driving it was a nono -- if I'd got it half hour earlier I could have walked and cleared it all in one fell swoop yell So now I'll have to go thro that check when I collect my new specs in 14 days time.   Mutter mutter  mutter  --  Nothing is ever promised to be easy  grrrrrrr

You have to be sooooo careful with what goes in toilets, Metheven  surprised

My g/nephew, when but a junior plumber,  hated them with a passion 'cos folks put all sorts of items in the cistern to keep them clean and he was regularly referred to as " Our Tame Smurf " due to the purple / blue discs. laughing

Woke up to a cold easterly blowing a bit. Not fair after yesterday.

It was still dry so we walked into North Berwick for a look see. We stayed at Aberlady many moons ago and I can't believe we never went to either North Berwick or Edinburgh in that week, instead walking, birdwatching and playing golf took up our time. Anyway we had our cobwebs well and truly cleared today.

    Site still full.

....arrived home from a few days at Tredegar CAMC site.   This site was generally very full too.  The weather has been good, but arrived home to a cloudy sky and a drop in temperature.  Staying at home next week and then I guess it all depends on local lockdown  😐

TG We are heading up to Kendal on Friday for 4 nights, but staying on a new non-facility site there. Which of the club sites are you using? By the way the forecast is for a fine day tomorrow so you should be ok in T and shorts.

Funny how one always finds more little jobs that need doing just before heading off on a tour. Hopefully all will be completed tomorrow.

Just spent a couple of hours looking up alternatives if our NE trip goes pear shaped..looks like the official announcements will come out tomorrow. Spotted a CL in N York's which might fill a gap, still hope to see son and family but probably briefly and outside only. frown

That's nothing M!  A dog-walking friend of mine didn't check her pockets when she put something in the washing machine - so hers got a full boil wash!  She did ask me if it was true that putting it in a bag of rice would dry it out but I had to point out that it was probably beyond thatsmile

Don’t think I’ve ever scrolled so far down the forum before so have missed this thread.

Currently at home doing a jigsaw and thinking about weeding the garden. Also ‘thinking’ about cleaning the motorhome but probably won’t do either.

If I had found this last Monday I would have been on a very pretty private site in Comberbach, Cheshire, sitting in the sun with my book watching my husband (and dog) trying to catch a fish in the site’s pond. Much prefer the Monday view to that I have today.

Well not a great day here had to abandon our planned 5 night trip to the Lakes. Drove the car out the drive this morning and reversed in to hook up the van and the electric handbrake stuck on again and I couldn’t move the car. We only got it back on Monday when the issue was meant to be fixed anyway up shot us car was recovered on a truck from the house and taken back up to Glasgow to the garage they think the motor is gone that works the electric brake they replaced the cable last week but that’s not fixed it. Had a CL near Carlisle booked for tonight then should have been at Troutbeck Head for 4 nights from tomorrow we are so disappointed. There is a remote possibility that we could get the car back tomorrow if they find out exactly what is wrong and get the needed parts if that is the case we will head off somewhere on Saturday for a few nights but won’t hold our breath looks like a few days at home instead still the weather is lovely just now so not all bad .

Another glorious day here in Essex. Beautiful dog  walk about 7am felt i had the whole 600 acre park to myself. I didn't but it was lovely. Another day working on the garden, its not massive but just feels like it 😱. Almost on top of it again. Then it'll be time to cut back.........

Cyberyacht often passed that site and thought it was rather nice. Did you take your motiorome off site or walk to catch a bus? Did you walk the canal and visit papermill lock and tearooms? Maldon? So many places of interest despite what folk think 🤔

Lovely to read folks news. AnnB welcome, much trivia on here bit like chatting over the garden fence.

Hope those aiming to catch up with family in different areas manage it, brue and Milliehull among others. I dread another lock in i don't think it'll do anyone any good mentally or physically. I certainly feel better now we are able to see friends. Can't imagine darker cooler days with no visitors 😪.

Puppy is growing and impersonating a highland cow currently. Hopefully photo attached. She should have had her first trim last Monday but a family emergency for the groomer means its been put back to next Thursday. I'll do an after photo. Had to order a larger part for her 3 part (perfect fit) harness today as the girth is only just allowing 3 fingers under. She's great fun but has been a bit hard work but great distraction too! Can't believe shes 25 weeks old today.

Also seriously considering getting another motorhome. A cracker has come up and they will bring and demonstrate it BUT its a bit early days yet as I've only just started to look although I gave very good idea of requirements. Just have to see if its meant to be. Beautifully compact, maybe a bit too compact. Requires at least a night of no sleep 🤣

Right must get a wriggle on to get the washing in,dinner  started etc etc . Stay safe folk.

Came home yesterday after a very good week in Cornwall, weather was as good as any we've had since the lockdown was lifted. smile

Felt obliged to come home really as it's Dad's 94th birthday today and we managed to get to see him, though still just outdoors for 30 minutes. But he seemed cheerful enough and looking forward to his glass of wine (or 3! surprised) with lunch.

Still no bowls for me at the moment and no bridge for Mrs M; I'm still doing the Cinnamon Trust dog walking and Mrs M delivering prescriptions for LINK. But we're also using the extra free time to make up for not being away for so much of the year and we're off to a farm cottage on Exmoor next week - no animals but plenty of chickens and geese on site apparently so it's going to be interesting to see Ralph's reaction! laughing

On a lovely sunny autumn day we drove to South Queensferry, near Edinburgh and cycled alongside the fForth, through the grounds of Hopetoun House to Blackness Castle and onwards to Bo'ness Harbour.

    A smashing ride.

Photos are of Blackness Castle and some old bridge(nobody seen painting it)

B2 Dora will no doubt have a before and after photo!

Very noisy and dusty here, but I'm glad to see the maize go, can see the sunsets once more.

Good to catch up on other news and views. smile

NTH, we are on the C&CC site, arrived at 13.03. Our timing has been pretty good on this trip smile  never been to this site before, its lovely, much nicer than the CAMC one which is very shady and dark in places. This one is lovely and open, views across the hills, sheep and cows in the fields  next to the site and a river running along the bottom of the field. We walked into Kendal this afternoon (in shorts and T shirts) along the river smile

Not sure what we are doing tomorrow.

We had a lovely 6 days at Kingsbury Water Park, lots to do in the area so will be back again, the weather was fantastic to.

Francis, sorry to hear the car trouble is back, hope you manage to get away soon.

WN, sounds like you had a good day out.

Millie/brue hope you manage to get to see the family. We spoke to our youngest grandson today as its his 12th birthday, didn't recognise it was him at first, his voice is breaking laughing

Sat out until 6pm today lively sunshine, then nice sunset followed, now its getting very chilly brrrrr.
