Hope she stays safe and well JVB.
Nice to hear from you Helen!
Waiting for a food delivery here, stuck at the moment till it arrives.
Had a nice early walk by the empty maize fields, our nearest one is for animal feed, the others are for a bio-mass plant.

Lovely to hear from you HelenandTrevor. I know how you feel about server errors 😱
Just Oneputt to post and then all accounted for! Anyone know anything?
JVB hope your granddaughter settled in well. They'll be lots of 'mixing' as our neighbours headed off with their youngest about 8am and a few door down do so tomorrow. I wish them all luck and happy studying. I understand that lots have been chatting in social media and thus have got to know their flatmates in advance of arrival.
Another glorious day here, a little breezy but not windy lovely walk round the local estate and lake. Dora found a couple of dogs for a good run so is currently sparko on the lounge floor.
Lovely catch up with friends yesterday afternoon soooo much news to get through it was 7pm before we knew it! We did move in from the garden around 4.30 as it was cooling. So scratch dinner.
Trying to decide on my task(s) for today. Need to do some paperwork that I keep putting off because of the delightful weather but is getting urgent now, too tired after day in the garden! But garden is calling and the weather shouldn't be wasted. Actually waiting for a man who can 😉 for a fee 🤣🤣 dig over the bed at the end of the garden which I've cleared with assistance of son on fence removal, so it can be planted up when some moisture arrives! Dora will need daycare i expect as she loves to help 😱. Holly, the drier the better, is a good deterrent but any area is fair game if you draw her attention to it however accidental.
Enjoy your day folks - good to read folks news and hope pockets aren't being hit too hard for varying tasks!
Edit I've given up liking posts As it's too time consuming!

Flu jab day - a very efficient setup at our doctors. One way system, no queuing, directed at each doorway and turn, in and out in a couple of minutes.
Then my husband spent a lot longer chatting to someone in the carpark.
Home via the vets and nothing else planned for today.

Eldest son has reserved a new build houses in MK should be moving next year, fingers crossed.
H&T
New houses seem to still be springing up everywhere in MK and when they no longer fit in the original boundaries they push those out. When we moved here, 41 years ago, it was only half built, if that, so we have to travel a bit further to see new houses. Lots now towards junction 13 of the M1 and on the Western flank along the old A5. Crest Nicholson are about to start a major development near CMK and Campbell Park although I don't think they are near being ready for sale yet.

New estates of housing are springing up every where it seems and with the latest relaxation of planning regulations, more will appear ,one thing that seems to lacking now is upgrades to the local infrastructures to cope

That's us back home again after a fabulous 3 weeks away. Weather has been great, all but 2 damp days which didn't stop us from going out.
The sites and places we visited were just what we wanted, can honestly say we felt safe on all sites.
We had a good drive up from Kendal in full sun, no problems until we got just past Dunblane then down to crawling speed due to roadworks.
Now to finish emptying the caravan and getting the washing on.
Hope all those away have as good a time as we did and long may the weather favour you.

We’ve had an interesting couple of weeks. We went out to the coast to meet up with old friends in their caravan. Tried a new independent site, (as they have to have on site facilities available). The weather was great but on the tow home, we had a stone hit the front window of the caravan. Luckily a local caravan service guy was in our storage yard when we got back, so we asked him to advise us. He said ring your insurance, windows are expensive. We asked him to quote for repairing it so we could decide if we should go through the insurance or just pay to get the job done. (Not wanting to increase our renewal next year). We decided to go through the insurance and submitted our claim on Wednesday evening by email. I was just about to email again, having heard nothing from them, when this afternoon we’ve got a cheque in the post for the value of replacing the window minus our excess amount! It’s so quick we’re gobsmacked! 🤗
We’ve also ordered a towing cover. 😐

I don't think It's quite as simple as that. Future development is based, as I understand it on formulated local plans. So say your town plan allows for 2000 new homes in a certain area once that is approved that is generally it as under the new legislation locals can't start picking the plans apart. They need to do that at the setting up of the local plan but for a lot of people who don't have a planning background that is quite difficult. Because MK is also a Unitary Authority it makes the process easier. When they plan new neighbourhoods the infrastructure like schools, shops, and medical provision is planned in from the start

Nice to hear from Helen. We always seem to see an adder at Walberswick. Nice piccy.
Another lovely day if a bit of a nip in the wind. Drove to Gullane and walked down to Aberlady over the dunes and beach. Plenty of wide open space so no problems keeping our distance. Didn't actually touch a single thing in the 7 miles, no gatepost or kissing gate etc.
Last day tomorrow. Weather been great, as has area.

Lovely sunny and warm day here. This morning I did the teak oil on the lower balcony rail, so now just the top rail to do, which I can do from the balcony rather than a ladder.
Afternoon was spent at the Guide Hall, a failed PIR light to be changed out, and the new handrails to be checked.
Why is it so difficult for a company to make things to the size you request? The first rails they sent they forgot to subtract the length of the joining pieces, so they asked me to send them the exact size of pieces we needed, which I did.
Having today opened the packages, the pieces are all short, not the sizes requested. Varying from 10 to 35mm shorter than requested. Fortunately, I can adjust the fitting positions of the joining pieces, so the pieces sent can be used, but it is far from ideal. If they had to fit exactly, as in an indoor staircase, they would not be usable.
I am really scunnered by the inability of a large company, specialising in supplying handrails and balustrades, to cut a simple straight tube to the correct length!
The product is of an excellent quality, but the competence of the company leaves a LOT to be desired!
Having spent Wednesday to Friday at DD's working in her garage and looking after Callum, we now have Saturday to Tuesday here, so doing stuff at home and at the Guide Hall. Hopefully some other members of the committee will be available to assist with fitting the handrail.

It was about 2:00 when we walked past and there was no vehicle there, so guessed that you were out for the day. And yes that could well have been us arriving. Although it's usually a 1:00 arrival here Rachel, the owner said that It was fine for us to come earlier.
It looks as if there will be screening of trees along the field edge adjacent to the road which should improve the look somewhat and if they plant a few scattered shrubs around it would be even better. The site is full again tonight, but was very peaceful last night, even with the rally occupying 3 fields. I think many will have gone by lunchtime tomorrow.
Good to hear that you got home safely. Do you think the roadworks will be there for a while, as we hope to be heading that way in a week or so, en route to Auchterarder.

Nice to read posts from B2 and Helen, glad that all's going well for you. Have seen a post from Oneputt on another forum, saying that they are heading off with their van on Monday and are fitting in a visit to their son, so by the looks of it all is well with him.
Lovely day here although rather breezy. We parked at Burnside and walked part of the Dales Way along by the R Mint then up to Potter Tarn and over to Gurnel Dubs before returning via Birk Rigg in a 7.5 ml loop.

Thanks for that, a few trees will make a difference in a time. Good to hear that it wasn't noisy last night. Shame we missed you, at that time we were finishing lunch at Grange

The roadworks just after Dunblane - Greenloaning look as if they are going to be there for awhile longer. it was busy today but then it is Saturday so might not be to bad during the week. I take it you are staying at the CL at Auchterarder. Weather today was about 18c as we came through there a few degrees warmer here in Perth.

Thanks, TG. There'll be another time for a meet up I'm sure. It will be a week on Monday that we pass that way so should be not too busy. We're, hopefully, staying at Isla Bank, which is a newish CL that looks ok.

Isla Bank looks good Nellie, we have noted it for the future.
Little Callum has apparently not forgotten that he was supposed to be coming to stay in our caravan very soon, so he and Mummy are coming to sleep in it on Monday night on the driveway!
Will need to clean the floor and put in the carpets, wipe over worktops, bathroom etc, charge the toilet, and turn on heating tomorrow.
He may also expect us to be sleeping in there too, we shall see.

Bakers2, I love the photos of Dora. I see what you mean about resembling a highland cow at the moment
. Do post some more photos after she has been to the groomers. We went for our flu jabs a couple of days ago. Our GP surgery is still not giving any information other than of the 'don't call us, we will call you' variety so I booked in with Lloyds chemist. We were most impressed. We were the only people there so no queues and the hygiene and sanitising arrangements were excellent. Much better than facing the hoards at our surgery. We shall certainly use that service in the future.
Eldest grand-daughter popped over with our 8 month old great grandson yesterday. She thought she would come now in case further socialising restrictions are imposed. He is now crawling and pulling himself up on the furniture so is keeping his parents busy. Similarly had lunch with our daughter on Friday (outside) just in case we are not going to be able meet up in the near future.

Another beautiful day here. Wonderful berries etc. We have driven out to the Notley Discovery Park for a wander. Not bad but carpark charges are high! £1 for 30 minutes 😱 does get a bit cheaper for the minutes the longer you stay but....... so we won't be more than 2 hours, not sure there's enough to warrant that anyway. Just a different dog walk. Plenty of room for distancing except in the play areas - but that doesn't concern us 🤣
Actually going on to Cressing Temple Barns, for the tearooms and lunch 😉
KjNelln you'll have to sleep in the van just as if you're actually away on site. Breakfast, washes etc and amusement will all be needed to give him the flavour of a proper trip. Hope the overnight fee is reasonable!
Lovely to read folks news especially of those getting onto the property ladder. Good to hear Oneputt posting somewhere and his reference to attacks by seagulls wasn't code for something worse!
Let's hope folks can meet their families, brue and Milliehull plus others, and continue to tour freely, but I'm getting fearful. There's always those who don't think any rules or guidance applies to them 😱. Such as, if its true, the chap in Bolton who seems to have singularly increased the count.........
Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Milliehull I'm so glad you've seen your great grandson, how strange it has all been! How the time seems to have flown crawling too. All the ornaments will get higher 🤣🤣. Sensible to meet your daughter too.
I'm hoping we'll get another catch up with son and DIL before it kicks off again. They met friends from the cotswolds yesterday, at NT place about halfway between them. Son should be down mid October for golf.
Keep meaning to say texts from our GP re flu jab dates, seems OH will not be having one regardless, I take enough stuff with putting more in...... I won't because I react to things like that, not tried it as yet but can't afford a reaction these days! Our pharmacist ordered him one and phone to say he can whenever, but he declined. Each area seems to be very different in their approach.

According to our surgery's website, we will be called for our flu vaccinations in October, so just as well we are not going away after all.
Not very nice weather here today so far, dull and damp, and after a good forecast for the start of the week, the weather later in the week is to be colder and wetter, so better get on with the outside jobs tomorrow and Tuesday.
B2.......pitch fee is very reasonable, but shower and breakfast will have to be in the house as the driveway slopes and the van is too long to be able to be levelled, so water does not drain properly. We used to clean and have to bail out the shower tray, but now just give it a wipe and leave the proper cleaning of it till we get to our first site.
Whoever sleeps in the double bed will need to either use a thick pillow, or sleep with their head at the other end. 🤣

Dull and miserable day here to Kj. OH has managed to get both the car and caravan washed while I have been ploughing through the mountains of washing, most of which have been dried in the tumbler.
I've also been looking at 'what next' for us. Trying to decide where to go and which vehicle to take. I'm mindful of the school half terms are going to be on us in a couple of weeks, so would probably use more CL's which means at this time of year the caravan, unless we can secure a H/S.
Don't have any reason to stay home and the chance of extending our Autumn by going down south seems to be inviting. If we stay up here its going to be a very long winter. We've even looked at flying off somewhere for a bit of sun

Flu jabs, we still have not had any word from our practice as to what is happening. OH saw something yesterday that Edinburgh are doing pop up vaccination stations around the city, Oct/Nov purely for the over 65's then in Dec it will be for other age groups.
MillieH, if you get your jab at the pharmacy is it the one for over 65's ? as when I asked about it last year up here, I was told they are not allowed to give them to the over 65's only the Dr's surgery are allowed to do them as its a different vaccine. If its this difficult to get a flu jab goodness knows how they will cope with the Covid one when that eventually comes out.

Tammygirl: We had to fill in an online form before we went to give all our details including DOB. Different forms for different age groups so ours was the over 65s. All very efficient at the pharmacy. Quite a few of our friends have also used their service.

Just caught up with a few posts, still getting server errors and liking posts takes ages, so sorry haven't" liked " that many
its been a beautiful day here, very warm in the sunshine, did a few gardening job's then had a nice walk with the dog.
Decided to wash the car this afternoon, joint effort, but I am now in the dog house as I broke the rear wiper, oops! Don't think I will be asked to help again.

Had a message from youngest son, his girlfriend's Gran who has cancer is now very poorly in hospital. They haven't been allowed to visit.

Trevor had text to contact our surgery re flu jab, phoned but wait was very long, he gave up and will try again.

Another lovely day in Greater Manchester. Don’t believe everything you hear about rainy Manchester.
Actually we are on the Burrs site at Bury today, bit of a nip in the wind but we had a good walk around the country park with the dog, sat outside in the sun for an hour, watched the final stage of the Tour de France and are going to shove a M&S paella in the microwave and open the wine.
Lots of posts about not being able to get on sites but there are lots of empty pitches here, can see 13 from our pitch alone.
Although this site is only 25 minutes from home we always enjoy it here not least because of the heritage railway that runs by it. So glad they are running again.

I dont 'like' posts either Helen and Bakers2. It takes far too long. Oops about the screen wiper Helen.
We went for a lovely walk this afternoon round our local Crown Lakes with eldest son and family. It was beautiful weather for it. Grandson had taken the first part of his 11+ yesterday. When we asked how it had been he replied that he didnt know as they hadnt marked it yet 😄. He is a child that always takes things literally.🙂

I love your grandson! You asked a question he answered very sensibly 🤣🤣🤣
Just had a Google of crown Lakes, I expect DIL knows about them but not sure about son and we certainly haven't! Are dogs permitted? Could be a change of scenery for a walk, that doesn't involve checking on the state of what's growing in the fields.........

Another lovely day in East Lakeland, although there was heavy white cloud on the tops of Kenmere fells and over the Howgills. Parked at Ashes Lane and walked past the C&CC's Windermere site, which looked nearly full. On to Staveley and back along the Dales Way, another 7 mls walk. It was warm enough, under a cloudless sky, to sit outside at the van for an hour or so before dinner. Rally finishes tomorrow and our site is still over 3/4 full.

Yes dogs are probably mandatory bakers2!! Son and DIL's dog Jessie was with us. She loves it - lots of water. They are in Farcet - not a very pretty village but the lakes and walks are great. They are left over from the old brick pits and have been re-wilded.
