Ey-up Mills😊, it was proper Autumn too, I could see the spider webs on the meadow stretched across grass strands reflecting like diamonds off the settled dew. It is a complete joy is the Autumn👏🏻👏🏻

PS-did you notice the photo-bombing Woodpigeon in the middle of pic?😂

North western end of Hornsea - on the top of the hill with the Mere to the south (you can work it out!) - nothing much between us and the sea but open fields!

A fantastic ride out to St Mary's island, which is now open for anyone at the Old Hartley site, up to South Shields, under the Tyne, and up through Whitley bay, back using the ferry and down the coast to Sunderland. It was lovely warm sunshine again. Even made a new friend, although he may have been after my ice cream.

Was it that cold you had to wear gloves to hold?

It is thirty plus degrees down here, but it started off clear this morning ,whereas yesterday it was quite an Autumn morning with the Sun just trying to peak through the mist  over the valley and Digwell  viaduct very atmospheric

Smashing day. A balmy one weather wise once the greyness disappeared late morning.

Decided on a stroll along the coast path and beach running beside the Firth of Forth for rather too many miles. We sort of forgot to stop. Know about now though. We even took a wrong path whilst returning over the dunes and found ourselves on one of the fairways of Muirfield Golf Course.surprised Fortunately we high-tailed it before we were escorted off.

The birdlife was great for us and the views spectacular. No photos as we forgot the phone. Even had our first sighting this autumn of a skein of incoming Pink Footed Geese, high up overhead coming in off the North Sea. About 50 of them. Love it when you can do something like this without having to get in a car.

We like Yellowcraig WN. Lovely site and there is so much to do nearby. I recommend the chip shop in the town if you can’t be bothered cooking one night very nice and all freshly made. Enjoy

Thanks Francis but with a wheat allergy I can't have Fish and Chips unless they do Gluten Free but thanks for the thought. I agree that there seems plenty to do from here.

When and where are you off to in the Lakes?

Envy you Yellowcraig, lovely Site, great walking. Dirleton Castle is nice, has a fabulous border garden, and Hailes Castle, under Traprain Law a great picnic spot. If you get a wet day, head to Museum of Flight, worth it for Concorde alone! Have a lovely time.

Broke our up front CL booking record today. Booked a pitch for May 2022, not far from home. Wortley Hall for a family wedding😁 So we really can.......Takethedogalong 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾😂

Finally making an honest man of him eh?laughing About time too!

Thanks for recommendations but Dirleton Castle closed and I think Hailes might be as well. The forecast seems fine so we'll probably stick to cycling and walking.

Someone mentioned the Royal Yacht but as brother served on it and we had first hand accounts of all the nitty gritty it took the shine off it.surprised

Oh I’m not sure if they do gluten free WN shame though as it’s nice. A walk around the harbour area is a must too. We are due to set off at the end of this week for Troutbeck. Looking forward to a visit to Keswick and a pint in the Oddfellows nice pub hope it’s not changes too much as O believe it has been renovated since we were last there.

Had my flu jab yesterday. Unbelievably I was in a queue of one (me) and stood on my yellow distancing spot for 15 mins!!

Humid start to the day here, help in the garden, OH gawn fishing...a new stretch of water acquired by the local club.

Packing the van is on the horizon, looking forward to seeing the family.

In answer to B2, we stayed at Mill House CP on the edge of Boreham. Bit like a jumbo CL with no loo block. EHU and mix of HS and grass.

Had a disturbed night. The fridge alarm went off at 03:00. After various checks and a consultation I decided to take the grill off and discovered that the condensation tap had overflowed on the electrics. Much dabbing with a J cloth and normal service was resumed. My Majestic tended to have the trap overflow as well and I routed the drain tube through the floor. Why they don't do that anyway is beyond me.

Drying my mobile phone out in the oven, whether it will recover or if I still want to use I haven't quite decided cry

Minding my own business and having a 'wee' in our home toilet when my phone fell out of my jacket pocket to become submerged before the 'U' bend frown Do not really fancy holding it to my ear anymore embarassed

Haven't attempted a switch on from standby so might not even work, still on Android 4.4 so perhaps it's upgrade time laughing

That’s a shame WN, Dirleton is beautiful. You can peek through the gates to see the gardens, they are stunning. I am guessing Tantallon will be closed as well, that’s a good cycle ride, through NB and out other side. Brilliant views of Bass Rock. We noticed quite a few of Scottish Historic Monuments aren’t open this year, it’s what changed our mind about going to D&G. North Berwick is a lovely town, some fabulous independent shops, but it tends to get very busy nowadays. Check out Linlithgow Palace, or Bannockburn Battle Site. Easy scenic drive if they are open.

SIL now has a confirmed case in his school, though not in one of his classes, and 2 in his class who are self isolating.   Big secondary, about 1500 pupils, so plenty of scope for the virus to spread.   frown

He is trying to keep well away from everybody.
